Now I get why the book readers prefer Holliday Grainger as their fancast for Rhaenyra Targaryen.
And if only Rhaenyra in the show had the same fabulous dresses Lucrezia has throughout the three seasons of The Borgias... *sighs*

So, for the people who follow me, I don't like Rhaewin, you all know that.
Rhaenyra was never in love with Harwin, it's pretty obvious in Fire and Blood, at most she liked him for keeping him as a lover all these years but as soon as Daemon came back, Harwin was out of the equation for Rhaenyra.
As for the show, same, Rhaenyra liked Harwin, but nothing close to true love for me (even if clearly in the show Harwin is for me clearly in love with Rhaenyra without reservation).
The show is pretty clear that it's Daemon and Rhaenyra together for now.
But... this video ? It is beautifully made and will surely be a gem for people who ship Rhaewin, so I'm sharing !
On the other hand, it clearly made me want to see these two actors play a historical romance together !
Holliday Grainger and Ryan Corr look so good together !
Give it to me damn it !

Hello again, today we will talk about the poor and pathetic representation that the shitty show HOD made, about our beautiful queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, like many here I still think that holliday would have been the ideal Rhaenyra and as evidence I will bring....the most embarrassing expectation vs reality in history.
both represent a pregnant woman and even their costumes are similar... but there is an abyss of difference in costume and beauty
This beauty was the expectation...🥰
Tumblr media
and this horrifying thing was the reality.....🤮
Tumblr media
I assume that Condal expected us to be overwhelmed with Renada's beauty... that is far from the truth
we can appreciate the difference😌💅

The silent sisters were sent for, to prepare the corpse for burning, and riders went forth on pale horses to spread the word to the people of King’s Landing, crying “King Viserys is dead, long live King Aegon.” Hearing the cries, Munkun writes, some wept whilst others cheered, but most of the smallfolk stared in silence, confused and wary, and now and again a voice cried out, “Long live our queen.”

Note
it is little discussed how the fandom discredits Emma as Rhaenyra ( unfortunately some being TB himself) always saying how Milly is a better Rhaenyra, and how they wanted them to keep her (even though it was impossible, because Rhaenyra would grow up one day like.. lol) I don't see that with Alicent (Emily-Olivia) It's just with Emma-Milly and it's very worrying and there's some other reason behind this that I haven't discovered yet besides just being prejudiced against Emma
I think it is pretty obvious why there are complaints when it comes to the Milly - Emma transition, and not with Emily - Olivia. Because Olivia Cooke is a stereotypical gorgeous woman, with the “appropriate” body and “appropriate” sexuality. She always wears provocative clothing, which makes immature and horny teens drool.
Emma D’Arcy has a different type of beauty, a more regal look so in a way, I understand the showrunners’ choice. However, I personally would have chosen someone else to play older Rhaenyra, and not for the reasons concerning the actor’s sexuality. It is more about how Emma plays Rhaenyra, and it’s not exactly what I had in mind when reading the book.
Rhaenyra Targaryen was extremely feminine. She always had a very girly personality, she wore the finest dresses and had tons of jewelry on her. Emma D’Arcy just doesn’t exude the personality Rhaenyra had in the book, in my opinion. Milly Alcock did her better, but still had some things missing from the book.
As for the clothing and the jewelry, it is obviously the showrunners’ fault. I used to believe that it is about budget, but take a moment to compare what Rhaenyra was wearing in episode 6 to what Alicent had on.
They had Alicent wear an extremely beautiful, bright dress, and jewelry as well, whereas Rhaenyra barely had any jewelry on her and she looked like she was wearing a sack of potatoes. She should have been wearing red, maroon or purple with gold Myrish lace, as described in the book. She should have worn rubies, and had rings on each finger. Rhaenyra was the fashionista at Court, not Alicent.
The fact that the showrunners seem to put Alicent more in the spotlight with scenes, promos and beautiful clothing only shows me that their preference for Olivia Cooke over Emma D’Arcy in terms of what they consider “attractive” blinds them to the actual story they have to tell.
If Rhaenyra were played by someone like Holliday Grainger for example (my dream Rhaenyra), I guarantee that there would have been more of a balance, and show!Rhaenyra wouldn’t have been given shitty clothing.

Rhaenyra Targaryen - Fancasts
Age: 07 - 33
08 [Mother’s Death]
14 [Tourney]
17 [Marriage to Laenor]
23 [Marriage to Daemon]
32 - 33 [Civil War]
Appearance: She is beautiful with the Valyrian look and small lips. After her first 3 children she retained the weight from their pregnancies having a thick waist. She is dressed richly and is often wearing rings.
Tumblr media
Character: Elizabeth Murray [Younger]
Actress: Cara Jenkins
Movie: Belle [2013]
[She was 8/9 during filming so good for Rhaenyra when her mother dies and she is declared heir to when her father marries Alicent. She is pretty with pale skin, blonde hair and small lips. She wears mid 18th century clothes ish.]
Tumblr media
Character: Katherine Woodville
Actress: Elsa Houben
Show: The White Queen [2013]
[Unknown age, looks to be around 8 - 10 years old so good for when Rhaenyra is declared heir till her first half brother is born. She is pretty with fair skin, blonde hair and a small mouth. She unfortunately is only shown in one scene clearly. She wears a 15th century ish dress.]
Tumblr media
Character: Violetta Giurgiu
Actress: Anamaria Vartolomei
Movie: My Little Princess [2011]
[She was 11 during the filming of this movie so good for a year before he sweet half sister was born. She is pretty with blonde hair, pale skin and small lips. She wears modern clothes that are still good for close ups.]
Tumblr media
Character: White Queen [Younger]
Actress: Amelia Crouch
Movie: Alice Through the Looking Glass [2016]
[She was between the ages of 10 - 12 during the filming of this movie. So, good for when her half brother and sister were born. She has light blonde hair, has small lips and is pretty. She wears fantasy clothes.]
Tumblr media
Character: Lucrecia Borgia
Actress: María Valverde
Movie: Los Borgia [2006]
[She was 18 - 19 during this movie so the right age for Rhaenyra when she’s married to Laenor. She’s pretty and has small lips and blonde hair that is a bit too golden. She unfortunately has brown eyes and is not “thick of waist”. She wears 15th century Italian ish clothes.]
Tumblr media
Actress: Catherine Howard
Actress: Tamzin Merchant
Show: The Tudors [2007] [Season 3 & 4]
[She was 22 - 23 during this show so good for her during the start of her marriage to Daemon although she does have a love interest that more suits Harwin and is playing a character of an age with Rhaenyra when she was with Harwin. She’s pretty. She has lighter blonde but golden hair and small lips. Unfortunately she is quite skinny and not thick of waist. She wears Tudor ish clothes.]
Tumblr media
Character: Queen Jadwiga of Poland
Actress: Dagmara Bryzek
Show: The Crown of the Kings [2018]
[She’s 22 - 25 during this show so a good age for Rhaenyra during her marriage to Daemon. Her hair is brown and obviously not correct for Rhaenyra but with some editing I do think this fancast could be really good. She has pale skin, a rounder face and small ish lips. She isn’t plus sized but she is “thick of waist” compared to the other actresses. She wears 14th century polish clothes.]
Tumblr media
Character(s): Lucrecia Borgia & Constance Chatterly
Actress: Holliday Grainger
Show: The Borgias [2011]
Movie: Lady Chatterley’s Lover [2015]
[She was 22 - 25 during the show and was 26 - 27 in the movie so good for during her marriage to Daemon. She is blonde although a bit more golden than I imagined her hair and has relatively smaller lips. She has a rounder face in the movie but is unfortunately skinny in both. She wears 15th century Italian clothes in the show and in the movie she wears late 1920’s clothing.]
Tumblr media
Character: Catherine the Great
Actress: Yuliya Snigir
Show: Catherine the Great [2015]
[Suggested by: ???]
[She was 31/32 during this movie to the right age for her at the start of the war. She wears a silver wig, has a round ish face and small lips but unfortunately isn’t really “thick of waist”. She wears 18th century clothes.]

Note
you saw that twitter thread that was like "the most beautiful women in the asoiaf series" and most of the characters were targ ladies mentioned once?
not more beauty discourse omg
i did not because, and i cannot overstate this enough, every single obnoxious targnation thread i have ever seen was 100% against my will. i don't even look for discourse for context i simply do not interact AND YET.
ksjaf but anyways. that doesn't surprise and it's like i said wrt the type of people who will list their favorite targ women and then the top 5 is dany nyra og rhaenys naerys & aly or sometimes daena , and i say this as like a hardcore nyra apologist and a naerys defender, these are the same people who claim that if you draw rhaenyra as anything less than the most feminine heterosexual (but bisexual when daemon wants a show of course!) that it's misogyny and transphobia. they're like snapewives but for valyria - they really believe that this is a story about how the targaryens are gods (not wrong) and have the divine right over whatever so land they desire (christ on a cracker). they will insist emma isn't objectively attractive and use holliday grainger - not even nicola!!!!! fucking lucrezia!!! - as their fc and suspiciously use emilia as their dany fc too. i can't overstate how unserious they are.
esp because it's like bro listen i think if we're talking objectively, cersei is the sexiest woman in all of game of thrones. any other answer is goofy!!
