I had an idea to redesign vox because I didn't love that a character obsessed with modernization would wear a top hat and bowtie. then after a brief stint into madness where I read my partner's historic costuming textbook I drew.... all this.

(side note: the idea of vox being a trans man who transitioned AFTER death was super compelling and absolutely inspired by @prince-liest so while this is not direct fanart of their series I wanted to give a shoutout anyway!!!)

okay some TRULY unhinged rambling about historic costume below the cut YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

1950s: for this design I very much did not want to go to the typical a-line housewife look, because I feel that is unfitting for vox's character. instead I went for a more business look, but there is still a level of femininity that he would have been expected to perform. i wanted to express his discomfort with that through the pose and expression, though at the time he wouldn't necessarily have a framework for why he hated it

1960s: this one was very fun. i loved the idea of vox beginning to eschew some of the expected feminine presentation, and he no longer wears makeup, jewelry, or hose (though its hard to tell in black & white); however, he's kind of at war with himself in this time period. he's obsessed with seeming perfect and having a respectable image, so he would not go in for the counter-culture movements that were so big in the 60s. he's still kind of riding those coattails though, pushing those boundaries while still not acknowledging his queerness.

1970s: to me, it was very important that the gender hit as he entered the world in color. in my mind the gender euphoria is physically manifested in a wizard of oz situation - he can become who he always has been. anyway, gender aside, I think it was very important to me personally that he wore an ascot. it was for my mental health.

1980s: I wanted the 1980s to be the period where he began to gain some power and notoriety because of the de-regulation of television during this period to allow more ads, mirroring real-world history. I think if the 70s were when vox gained some real confidence, the 80s are when he got an Ego (tm). "business casual" also began to become more acceptable in this time period, and the t-shirt/suit jacket combo was very important for me to include, as to me it epitomizes the commercialism and machismo of the 80s.

1990s: this was actually the decade I was the most nervous to design, and yet I think it turned out the best? the 90s are known for grunge, which I think is NOT vox's style at all. I decided instead to lean hard into the yuppie look, which I know is more associated with the 80s but was definitely still a thing in the 90s. I also allowed a little hip-hop influence in the form of a gold chain from val, which is not something I think vox would ever pick on his own.

2000s: if the 90s were the decade I was worried about and turned out great, the 2000s are the decade I thought I had down SO GOOD and then totally floundered in execution. I still love the bubble-mac inspired head, and I tried to make his clothes as "round" as possible. I also like that this is the time where his saturation got cranked. however, I don't know if I'm in love with the vest and super bright sneakers, because again, looking back on it, he kind of looks like he works at a movie theater or best buy or some shit lol,,,

2010s: I think it's telling that this is by far the closest to his canon design (2014 tumblr lookin ass). I really wanted to pull from that hipster tech bro era, but unfortunately that aesthetic has a veneration for "retro" which again, is not fitting for vox. I still think he would wear the bowtie during this time because, well... he sure does in the show!

2020s: this was fun because I had an excuse to pull from haute couture design rather than street fashion because of the introduction of velvette into his life. I truly do not think velvette would let vox and val walk around in the outfits that they do because it would be an actual embarrassment LMAO. for this, I wanted his decorative "robes" to be evocative of the time he depicted himself as a priest AND of a cape/robe of an emperor. he does think of himself as that bitch, after all.

Thanks to the internet, and the prolific careers of Leonard Dreyfus and his siblings, Mac was able to dive even deeper into their family history. It turned out Leonard was part of a successful brood, and soon enough Mac was reading about his famous elder brother Desmond - the first man on the moon - and his younger sister Violet, the hollywood starlet. It was simply amazing - how had so many notable people come from the one family?

The enduring Lenny and the Rollers community of fans had mapped out the entirety of Leonard's family and background, and wikipedia provided Mac with all of their names. Leonard was born in England to parents Alexander and Margot, but grew up in the suburbs of Del Sol Valley in a neighbourhood that was now highly gentrified and revered. And the internet sleuths had pinpointed the exact home.

Mac found themselves out the front of an indimidating retro-modern home, hoping that this in fact was the house that Leonard Dreyfus and his siblings had grown up in. Steeling themselves for the awkward conversation with its new inhabitants, Mac walked up to the front door and knocked.

When they had explained their expedition to uncover their relations to the homes famous pre-occupants, the new owners were more than happy to invite Mac inside. The house was incredibly chic, tastefully refurbished in the intervening years, and its occupants a successfuly power couple.

Walking outside, Mac noticed the rose bush in the yard, perfectly maintained and manicured. They pulled out the photograph they had printed out of the Dreyfus family and held it up, noticing the similarities. This was it - this was the house that they had grown up in. Mac was chuffed that their investigation had brought them here - that they had been right at every step so far.

FusionFall: The Series

If you know me, you'd know that I'm a fanfiction writer.

As I'm currently working of several fanfic series over on Archive of Our Own.

However. Even though I've had an AO3 account since 2019, I only started regularly using it in 2023.

I've been writing since 2016, and between then and 2023, I've been doing my work on FanFiction.net.

And on FanFiction was my very first fanfic series.

That being FusionFall: The Series!

As the name suggests, this was an adaptation of the MMO of the same name.

I made it all the way back in January 2018, however I ended up cancelling it in that summer because I felt that it wasn't all that strong.

I eventually made a new version of FusionFall: The Series in that fall.

However, that got cancelled instantly because once again, I didn't feel that it was that strong.

I did one last attempt in the spring of 2019, in honor of the 10th anniversary of the original game.

However, I ended up cancelling because yet again, it wasn't that strong.

And from them on, I just gave up on doing a fanfiction of FusionFall in general.

But as the years passed and as I got better with writing, I've been toying with the concept of a doing a proper fanfiction on FusionFall again.

So today I wanted to share a pitch for my FusionFall fanfiction.

So without further ado, here we go!

The series follows the same general set up of the game, but with its own twist.

The series is set on a retro-futuristic version of Earth that's home to the characters of Cartoon Network.

Many of them residing in the city of Townsville, located on a large island right off the coast of California.

But one day, Earth finds itself under attack by Planet Fusion, a massive planet that's made up of several planets.

Inhabitated by the alien race known as The Fusion, all led by their ruler, Lord Fuse.

On that day, Fuse drops Fusion Matter (a strange substance that can turn intimate objects into living monsters) all over the planet.

And if that wasn't bad enough, Fuse has also sent his Fusions to invade Earth as well.

However, they've got some company.

Our favorite boy genius Dexter has form a resistance of heroes and even villains to fight and protect the Earth from the forces of Fuse.

The series would follow a monster-of-the-week format, seeing the resistance going on mission around Townsville and even the world to either stop whatever monstrosity the Fusion Matter created, find a some kind of resource to aid the group in the battle, or stop a villain who wants to use the Fusion Matter for their own nefarious schemes.

I’m thinking about making a pilot to test the waters for this series idea.

Here’s a poll to vote on what I should do.

But until then, let me know what you guys think about this idea of mine’s.

It was brief, but I think it does leave you all with a good idea of what to expect from this series.

What if: modern ultraman leo

shopping this one around, huh? well i actually do have many many thoughts on the topic so i'll take the opportunity, sure

i agree with tep that it's difficult to imagine on several levels... like you just do not get misery like that in these shows anymore. a heisei leo like 2000-2005 might've been able to get away with it, but reiwa leo would undoubtedly not be able to horribly murder the entire supporting cast. and also probably would not be able to have the dangen relationship be so. um. "fraught," without changing some core aspect of said relationship. and without both of those things it really loses appeal. since that's a lot of what leo is when i immediately think of it. it's dangen weird toxic energy and also everyone dying.

and i think the sfx quality and aesthetics of the 70s add so much to leo, too. the way certain miniature sets have this amateurish diorama look to them. the bright colors and retro screen effects used to depict certain things. like reading a fairytale popup picture book. it creates such a dreamlike mood. leo to me is being inside a dream that's always walking this thin line between idyllic and becoming a total nightmare. and i don't think modern ultra looks bad by any means but it is undeniably so much flatter and less colorful, less daring with the kinds of visuals it puts onscreen. hard to think that it could ever recreate that vibe.

but, man... i do think sometimes about how good it could be to see leo's story aspects redone with modern storytelling sensibilities and continuity and shit. like imagine getting to see gen introspect more about his home, everything he's lost, the loneliness of being one of only two of his kind on the whole planet. getting more insight into what changed dan into this type of person. getting a comprehensible plotline for astra that wasn't just being made up as they went along. getting actual personalities and attachments to the other MAC members so you really feel the impact when they die (or maybe just get nonfatally injured in this case).

tl;dr - i wish modern leo existed, honestly. i don't know if it could be successful by any metric but just to see them try. as a fun challenge to be graded personally by me and the world's 5 other leo scholars

At 8 months he will look at it like The Rock did as the big Hawaiian guy in the movie. The Concept of Panterus vs Objects [called PvO]

a long long time ago, around 2019, i created a character called Cairo Night. It was a cat, because i was into Warriors, inspired by my arrowhead necklace with cairo night stone. But then boom, remote lessons from home. I was very bored, so i discovered BFDI and other Object Shows like Inanimate Insanity, Open Source Objects, i think you got what i mean. It pushed me to develop my art, i have a plenty of fanarts and other stuff (even on my kinda troll twitter account, i mean i didn't delete this account because of one great artist: JamyTheJam. Inspiring person. Also if someone is wondering why i said i am pan, that was some time ago i am bi huhuh lol).

And that's how Nighty, my first real object show oc was born.

so, before i discovered BFDI, i found out Ron Zhang, artist creating funny Windows vs Mac vs other things animations (in PowerPoint! ah yes Qwertyxp2000, those were the days!:). And then another boom, Jacob Kitts! Mac vs PC forever in my heart, still waiting to see what you want to create! if you want, of course. Just know i love your work.

All mentioned artists inspired me to create PvO. It is one of my dreams to create that and not get censored for anything or thrown on yt kid$. But i also want to create what i my creativity would like to surprise me. Ah, it's more the lack of motivation and now the time that has made me do something about it only now... it's better than nothing.

Later, when i was in my second year of high school, i discovered Half Life series. Fantastic piece of art. And then... Team Fortress 2. Game that pulled me out of a difficult mental situation by analyzing the plot and other things (it's cool okay, also go check 7th part yoo). In the meantime, i fell in love with SFM, yes this spaghetti code animation program... My another dream is to create my own animation for song Money by Jon & Vangelis. YES INSPIRED BY THAT GREAT EXISTING ANIMATION, BUT I HAVE AN IDEA FROM VIBING TO THIS SONG FOR ANOTHER, MY OWN, AH. And Deus Ex from 2000, retro games enjoyer mode on.

okay, coming back to the topic.

a lot happens in my life. One friend fell in love with me, with other friend i had to end the relationship quite sharply because she was a toxic person, as it turned out after so many years... what a shame. And if it wasn't for my interference, she wouldn't have met and wouldn't have been with her "boyfriend"... i'm worried about him, that something will happen to him by her behavior, but he should be able to handle it. But also past shaped me, so i am now a person who extremely doesn't trust others much. That's why i fell in love (again not human lol) with Hitman games series. Agent 47 is my comfort character, no matter how strange it may sound. I know he is a technically improved clone of man made as killing machine, now in WoA is like 60-70years old and is not John Wick. And i must point out, Hitman Blood Money and newest World of Assassination trilogy are definitely my favorite. About Absolution, it's generally a very good game with nice graphics, but this out-of-character 47 ah pain is... bad. It's not a good Hitman series game, but i enjoy playing Absolution and i reccomend, BUT NOT AS THE FIRST HITMAN GAME, NOOO. Try demo of WoA ;D

dang, Agent 47 has an intriguing psychological portrait. It's my knowledge of just official games series, excluding the most of Absolution's plot and of course completely excluding those two movies. Man, did the directors even play BM, old Hitman 2 or other classics that were current at that time? i still dream of making movie from few BM missions (to use Vegas soundtrack by Jesper Kyd ahh i adore this OST)... but maybe i should keep my "Bieszczady/Warszawa mission" heh (maybe i would like to share of my concepts... maybe.)

i bought my deluxe ver of WoA on "weekend sale" on steam, it was worth my around 500PLN and on quick sale it was 200PLN... i have never come back from university so quickly to top up my Steam account in the store. Completely worth it, even i have potato laptop for this game and almost everything on the lowest settings lmao.

these were supposed to be animations in polish lang (with eng subtitles ofc) called "Łindołsy" what is a double plural of windows with completely grotesque changing w to ł, it is read the same as in english like in words "where/what". We will pronounce it "łere/łat", i... okay, series called Panterus The Translator was also my idea to make funny translations and to enlighten that "pies" mean in polish "dog", or "Handschuhe" mean from german literally "shoes for hand", what are gloves of course.

I have two little monkeys called younger brothers, so i understand something about siblings. I am kinda biochemistry nerd, now into mentioned Hitman series. I have almost always been a tomboy girl, now i see it evolved into this "elegant business woman with shirt and crease trousers and suede oxford shoes ohh and dark waistcoat yess and leather gloves ahhh and dark autumn coat obviously, eventually a nice gray or red tie and for exchange for waistcoat can be black suspenders". My other side, because i have two sides is tactical testicle any turtleneck, good pants with a lot of pockets ready to rolling in the forest, nice natural leather shoes that are both elegant and no mud will ever destroy them, fingerless gloves with knuckle protectors, sum cool sunglasses cover on my prescription glasses, sum knee pads and my airsoft colt m1911 (+ water guns i have, and funny toy guns). Those two sides fight in me with my retro addiction to CRT TVs and making my own weirdcore tv head from eva foam, inspired by RGB from The Property of Hate... (i am trying to help with polish translation of this comic, i invite you there.)

of course it developed and she's now Panterus, or rather Panti, maybe i would do a "human version" of her but... ehh, this is only one furry-looking character i got, not counting her sewn-grandma... i never liked drawing human heads.
