it is very funny being the only employee working a store that barely gets any foot traffic on a good day while 90% of the equipment and internal systems are busted so i can't do any of the online work. i'm just fucking sitting here

Had to stop for a moment at work thanks to the sudden realization that thanks to the Mouse Droid fic, it’s canon that Eli Vanto is exactly Tarkin’s type, and that makes his promotion process So Much Funnier in Thrawn.

Y'know that poem on here about being the priests favorite sacrificial lamb? That's how I feel about being given 30 hours worth of work in the 4 days leading up to Christmas
#i take pride in being given more hours in that week than any other non-management part timer#the bosses trust me to do a good job when it's crunch time#but that doesn't come with any tangible benefits for me#I'm more or less maxed out on potential earnings at this level on the chain of command#(and i have no interest in getting promoted which is the only way to get a meaningful raise atp)#that week I'll probably have at least one mental breakdown in Elliott's arms :')#but hey#i did the same tough work schedule last December#when my relationship with my emotionally abusive ex was at a breaking point#and I'm much better off now#so i believe in myself...#retail#beth's retail stories tag#just retail things#retail hell

Drafting up a resignation text... Gonna send it and then block all my managers and delete my work app.
I know I'm basically burning all my bridges, quitting on the spot just before Black Friday. I know it's extremely "unprofessional".
I don't want to quit. I like my job and most people there, and it pays decent. I like the company well enough too.
I'm just tired of how they're treating me lately and all my hard work just isn't appreciated any more and just taken for granted.
Yeah, part of me will admit I'm doing it out of spite. I'm one of their hardest working and best employees. Have fun finding a worthy replacement.
Maybe this is a bad idea, and I should try and work something out. But I just can't see myself going back. I need the time to drive in for appointments anyways.

Got promoted at work today! I knew they had their eyes on me for a promotion but the circumstances were kind of unfortunate. My coworker with the position found out that the raise was less than she thought, and that's after they screwed up her payroll big-time last week and only paid her for 2 days. So she's transferring back to our old store as an associate bc it's closer to her house and honestly an easier store to work at. So my manager came up to me right after they talked and was like you're getting promoted btw I was like oh okay 👍. And to be fair the raise is kinda shit lol it's 30¢. But to my knowledge it's more or less the work I'm doing anyways. I've never gotten a promotion or a raise before so I'm pretty happy about that. I've only had shitty bosses promise me raises for months and never follow through. And I know they've been wanting to promote me already bc all the higher ups I've worked with really like me and recognize that I work hard. I had a coworker 2 days ago ask if I was a manager because she said I had that vibe about me LOL. I was like no I'm just some guy. Still not a manager but I am a shift lead. Still so worried I'm going to burn out but uhhhh I'm doing well at this point 👍
