The irony of Fyodor's words:

These words have always stuck with me when I started to reread the manga, especially with the recent chapters and Fyodor's behavior. He says something deeply philosophical, but also deeply ironic.

In the anime, he says:

“People are eager to believe that they are acting with free will. That they know best. They become so excited by their own discoveries that they give them too much value. We all loathe to believe we can be controlled.” (Season 3, Episode 4, 17:35)

And in the manga:

"People, honestly, simply, wrongly assume that 'I thought so myself.'" (Vol. 10, Ch. 42, Page 35)

At first glance, these two quotes seem to say something very similar—that people tend to overvalue their own thoughts and discoveries, believing them to be entirely their own, when in reality, they might be influenced by something (or someone) else. But here's where the irony kicks in: Fyodor himself embodies this very mindset.

Despite his belief that people are wrong to assume their thoughts are independent, Fyodor operates under the assumption that his philosophy is entirely his own. In truth, it’s shaped by a lifetime of suffering, trauma, and a near-obsessive need to control the world around him.

Fyodor’s theory—that all ability users should be eradicated—is rooted in his own experiences of feeling powerless and out of control. The abuse he’s endured, combined with his ability, has led him to view the world—and its "free will"—as fundamentally flawed. He believes that to restore order to this chaotic world, the gifted must be suppressed. Yet, isn't this philosophy itself an example of the very thing he criticizes in others? His conviction that he has discovered the "truth" mirrors the self-deception he critiques: the tendency to believe that his thoughts are purely his own, unaffected by external forces, including his trauma.

In a way, Fyodor is trapped in the very mindset he warns against: the idea that his conclusions are logical and independent, when they are actually the product of his suffering, his obsession with control, and his refusal to accept the chaos of human nature. His belief that he’s arrived at the ultimate truth—that ability users must be eradicated to prevent chaos—reflects the same misguided, self-affirming belief that he accuses others of having.

Fyodor, in his isolation and intellectual torment, has convinced himself that eradicating others' abilities is the only way to restore order. But this "discovery" is not a product of pure intellect. It is, instead, the result of his trauma and distorted worldview. The irony is that he has become the very thing he despises: someone who clings to his own belief as the ultimate truth, dismissing the possibility that his thoughts are shaped by his personal history, his suffering, and his need for control.

At the heart of this contradiction is Fyodor’s desperate desire for control. His philosophy isn't just intellectual; it’s emotionally driven, born of his experiences with powerlessness. In seeking to rid the world of chaos and disorder, he longs for a sense of security. But he fails to see that his quest for control is itself a response to his internalized trauma. His attempts to impose order are shaped not just by logic, but by his scars.

This leads us to the central irony: Fyodor cannot see that his belief system is flawed not because it's illogical, but because it’s emotionally driven. He claims to have transcended the emotional influence of others, yet in doing so, he becomes a prisoner of his own narrative. He cannot escape the fact that his thoughts, like those of the people he criticizes, are shaped by his fears, desires, and personal history.

Fyodor's rejection of external influence is, in the end, a perfect reflection of the flaw he exhibits: the inability to recognize that his thoughts are not independent, but deeply shaped by a lifetime of suffering and a need for control. He believes that he has arrived at the ultimate truth through intellectual reasoning, but in reality, his philosophy is just as much a product of his internal struggles as anyone else’s beliefs.

Turns out I did this research once before, so I apologize for the inconsistent answers. Here's something I previously wrote for this blog:

So first off there are two different versions of Creed’s childhood floating around out there. The first I came across was a 2009 one-shot publication: X-men Origins: Sabretooth, written by Kieron Gillen. It features Victor’s first manifestation of his mutation through an altercation with his older brother which resulted in the kids death and Victor’s imprisonment in the cellar of their house by his father.

According to Gillien, Victor was only prisoner in that cellar for a year (if you read the comic it goes from ‘that spring’ to ‘next spring’.) However Marvel files have put Creed in that particular predicament for years. Routinely throughout those years, Creed’s father would remove Victor’s ‘Satan teeth’ believing that if he pulled out enough of them that he would Cure Victor of the devil.

An abusive and sick S.O.B. to be sure, Creed’s father has been theorized to have been abusive to his mother as well. It gives credit to the whole ‘you are the environment in which you are raised’ vibe.

Early Life

When Victor Creed’s mutation first manifested, he accidentally killed his brother over a piece of pie. His father confined him to a cellar and would systemically pull out Victor’s “devil teeth” in an attempt to purge the boy of his “demons”. Victor was chained like an animal in the family cellar for years until one day he chewed off his own hand in order to break free, subsequently murdering his father. Although he would later claim to have killed his mother as well, he actually spared her, and made sure she lived a comfortable life, until she was diagnosed with cancer and confined to a hospital, where she was killed by a member of the Red Right Hand.

Freed from his parents, Victor was unleashed upon society. At age thirteen, he reportedly rampaged across three Canadian provinces and killed at least three police officers. According to Creed, he remained in Canada and, at about fifteen, worked for the railroad, laying down rail from Calgary up to the Yukon. (The Canadian Pacific Railway reached Calgary in 1883 and the route up to the Yukon was completed around 1900. (If Victor Creed was 15 while laying rails that would place his birth between 1868 and 1885.) Among the workers on the line was a belligerent older man who delighted in picking on the teenage Creed. Though the man “had a hundred pounds on him”, Creed gutted him from crotch to Adam’s apple with his claws.

The other common image/ dictation of Creed’s torture in his younger years was presented in Deadpool Vol 4 issues #9 (which is part two of a three issue segment featuring Sabrethooth versus Deadpool) written by Gerry Duggan.

Mind you this publication happened AFTER the inversion event which left Creed actually on the good side of the spectrum. No longer under the control of his feral dark side, Victor teams up with Magneto in hopes to save mutant kind from the devastation that the Terrigenisis Mists, released by Black Bolt when combating Thanos, brought upon them.

Anyways, during the fight with Deadpool, Deadpool accuses Victor of killing his parents, when in reality Wade’s memory was wiped and the ultimate way to test the process was the order for Creed to take Wade to his parents house to ice them. Hey, given how many times people like Wade, Logan, and Victor got their memory wiped, exactly how much of this is truth and how much is a fabrication of their own minds to fill gaps that otherwise can’t be restored. But here’s a picture I’d wish to share:

Now for those of us who have been following the comics its clear as to why this particular scene had to happen. Creed was on the ‘road to redemption’, or as least traveling down it as best he can. The Inversion event freed him from the darkness in his mind, in his nature, that held him captive. That’s not to say Victor hasn’t been seen MANY TIMES being or helping the good guys. He’s not all evil, he just has less of a will power to push through the dark suggestions his feral nature forces him into.

So this particular segment of his past was written as it is to give Creed that redeeming sort of feel to him. So people can start empathizing because more and more has this guy started to become a very common face now that Wolverine (Logan) is pretty much dead.. then wasn’t dead and is now an old man.

What Creed has to deal with on the daily can be found in the 1995 release Sabretooth Special “Sabretooth in the Red Zone” Written by Fabian Nicieza

In conclusion.

If the consistencies of the story line remain true, Creed manifested his mutation I want to say around 7 or so.

Also in another conclusion I found this little tib bit under Creed’s father’s Marvel file labeled as Unusual Features: Amber eyes appear to “glow” (i.e. tapetum lucidum), a trait his son, would be noted by the Foreigner, to possess as well.

Arcanium Series Magic Worldbuilding Excerpts

"Types of magic" won in the worldbuilding poll, so let's have something about the types of magic... plus a few extra tidbits. Again, fair warning that some of this information can get scrapped or revised as I complete Arcanium, but this are the most stable ideas I am running along with for now.

Fun fact: Some of these are actually from the game WIP. You would've read it in the game in a basement's library!

Excerpt from Magic 101 Volume 1, "Magic and the World":

The world is made possible by two principles: the corporeal and the magical. The corporeal gives the magical a physical body, while the magical is the force that drives the corporeal.

Magic needs a physical conduit to be used in the mortal realm. For most mages, harnessing their power with their own body is enough. Mages are born with a spiritual force and a spiritual resistance strong enough to cast or repel magic forces.

Trivia: It is also widely accepted that the mortal body possesses innate control over magic. If not, most mortals would've succumbed to magic poisoning in the mere presence of a mage or a magical object!

Excerpt from Magic 101 Volume 2, "Laws and Theories of Magic":

The Theory of Force Segregation states that one power will always be weaker than a second power and stronger than a third power. This theory divides the forces of magic into two: the cycle of elemental forces and the cycle of light forces and dark forces.

The elemental forces are as follows:

Foliage, the force of plant matter.

Flame, the force of fire and warmth.

Fluid, the force of wind and water.

Flashbolt, the force of lightning.

Fillstone, the force of earth and minerals.

The light forces and dark forces are both divided into three types. Light forces include Motion, Energy, and Radiance. Dark forces include Silence, Curse, and Shadow. One cannot be without the other, and neither force is stronger than the other.

Users of magic are generally called "mages". Mages are allowed to go by any equivalent titles, and mages can gather as many monikers as they wish.

There are many different types of mages based on their affinity, proficiency, and ability.

The most common types are the elemental mages, light mages, and dark mages, who control various magic forces as indicated in Volume 2. It is also typical of an elemental mage to have offense-type magic, a light mage to have restoration-type magic, and a dark mage to have support-type magic.

There are also types of mages based on their use of magic, such as material mages and biotic mages.

Material mages can manipulate magic to specifically influence non-living objects. They often enchant weapons or charms.

Biotic mages who can manipulate living objects. Glamourers and shapeshifters fall in this category.

Rarer types include the omnimagi, the extochants, and the ambivals.

Omnimagi can wield most if not all forms of magic. For them, learning magic is almost as natural as breathing.

Extochants can control and redirect others' magic, but never their own. Most extochants are unaware of their own power and can potentially live through their lives not knowing they are mages.

Ambivals can harness the internal magic of both their own and others'. Such potential is equally incredible and dangerous.

Magic poisoning is an ailment brought about by overexposure to magic. Researchers have theorized that external magic can disrupt one's internal magic, especially if it exerts enough spirit force for one's spirit resistance to completely break down.

Magic poisoning has a high fatality rate. Survivors are recorded to suffer nasty black, vein-like scars over their body. These scars cannot be surgically or magically removed. Magic poisoning is more likely to occur in places brimming with magic power, such as the Chromatic Mountains that surround Kaleidopolis.

Healers and researchers have developed different ways to treat magic poisoning and prevent it from spreading. However, an individual who has survived magical poisoning before is likely to suffer twice the next time it occurs.

Miscellaneous clippings on alchemy from various reputable journals and accounts:

Alchemy is considered a counterpart of magic, but they coexist for a reason. Alchemy is a form of contractual magic, wherein a user, called an alchemist, opens a rune gate to communicate with the pantheons of gods to buy a magic spell.

Alchemy is the safer alternative to magic. One simply uses an especially-crafted alchemical scroll, and alchemical recipes in general have a 0.05% chance of failing. In the case of failure, the payment and the ingredients will simply disappear and the user will not be affected.

Alchemy is similar to cooking. One needs a few materials, called ingredients, to create an object or to summon an ability. Payments are often made using coins, jewels, and in some cases, even rare artifacts. It is sacrificing what you have to gain what you desire.

Alchemy helps the world restore gems in mines, place treasure boxes in remote areas, and hide away artifacts often thought to be long-lost… or at least that's how I think of it. I mean, where else would the gods and demigods take those things to???

Mistakes I've found in the SAFT LN english translation:

I've discovered that there are some typos in the official english translation by Yen Press and it's been bothering me.

1. Volume #1: When Anne gives Challe his wing back, the text says that it's been 7 years since he had it in his hands. But it's actually 70.

How long has it been since I held my wing in my own hands? Seven years… No, I feel like it’s been longer.

2. Volume #3: When Anne is talking with Kat in the Radcliffe Workshop where they were refining the silver sugar, about the religion of the Kingom and why women weren't allowed to be sugar crafters, Kat's name gets changed to Keith one time. Keith isn't even on that scene! Why is the translator not paying enough attention? 😭

“Women are sinners who disobeyed the will of God?” Anne repeated unhappily. Kat scowled at her suspiciously. “Sounds like you skipped a lot of Sunday school, huh?” “…Sorry…I played hooky a lot without letting Mama know…” Anne trailed off. Keith looked astonished, but he still informed her kindly,

3. Volume #5: When Challe faces Lafalle at the end of the vol, their names get mixed one time after Lafalle reveals his true identity:

"After you cut me, well, the injury took its toll. When I first met you here, I was so weak that I couldn't fight. But now, thanks to the sugar candy made by the Silver Sugar Viscount my strenght is entirely restored! Look, I'm able to fight, like this." A silver blade had appeared in Challe's hand, too. Along with it rose a thrilling feeling of excitement, almost joy. His wing grew taut and took on a hard, silver glint. "Revealing your true form. What nerve," said Lafalle.

It should said Challe, not Lafalle. Even in the anime Challe is the one who says that. And logically it should be Challe speaking that dialogue because Lafalle is the one who revealed his identity.

Cap #14. Sparrows at the park, but also, Steve and Peter being anxious about calling each other to hang out? Peter's still embarrassed from when he wasted Steve's time in CA #2, and Steve inexplicably believes he has no real friends beyond the people at the Front Door Cabaret, who, as far as I can tell, he only ever really watched perform and rarely actually talked to. Like... Steve's neighbor checks in on him and Steve goes on a long ramble about how his relationships have felt very surface-level and he just talks to a feral cat about his problems and also bonding with superheroes just doesn't work because of issues with secret identities. What??????? This very run itself shows Steve and Sam hanging out in an earlier issue!! Steve and Sharon are dating! All the core Avengers know each other's identities - and we know this run acknowledges the existence of the Avengers because Steve is wearing an Avengers tracksuit for some reason!! Argh!!

Anyway, have some assorted panels that drop bits of canon that you are free to use or ignore.

Steve loves Rhapsody in Blue.

Steve likes everything bagels. This is something to ignore, because if you read New Avengers Vol 1 #3, you'll know that Steve actually loves sesame seed bagels the most, and Tony knows that too.

Steve did group therapy for a while. (Ignore the rest, where he implies he never felt like he was part of the Avengers, because that's just bizarre.)

Ahem. Back to the plot. Steve is lonely and feels like he has no friends for some reason, so he calls up Peter and asks for dinner. Peter, who had been thinking about calling up Steve, happily agrees. Then Thor comes!

So apparently in a previous Thor story (and it's probs not coincidental that the author of that story, JMS, is bringing it up here), Broxton, Oklahoma, was destroyed and Thor blames himself. But he followed a lead and now sees a chance to restore the town because there's a sort of "system restore point" (or like, a save point) that was made and if they can trigger it, they can bring Broxton back. So with that, they depart.

OVERHAUL UPDATE 07/07/23 - The Japanese Scans.

Hey everyone and welcome to this month's update!

As has been customary the last half a year, work is still coming along slowly, all except for scanning. We do have our occasional spikes of productivity here and there, but the online presence is a constantly trickle of work, something I personally as the runner of the blog am enjoying a lot.

One of the main things currently being worked on right now are the Japanese scans, as we decided to use our scans to help out on that front as well. It comes with its own fair share of preparation, changing how we do our page cleaning and increasing the amount storage required since we'll now be having three versions of the manga lying around.

In order for us to have Japanese scans ready as well, we need to firstly make that version before removing all text. That means it begins as usual; removing paper textures, balancing the tones, repairing page damage, making the two page spreads seamless, general page quality check, and lastly page resizing.

We save the Japanese pages as such and then start on another version where we remove the Japanese text, restoring art covered by text and the bubbles themselves. Then we save the fully cleaned pages in original size to keep the clean art for artist purposes and keep resized versions for typesetting for any language.

We'll still be doing page number typesetting for the Japanese versions, as we've used the Japanese Omnibuses for our scans and to reflect our singular volume release form, the page numbers have to match that of singular volumes.

Below we want to show a few examples of how the Japanese scans that we will release will look like:

Right now the preparations for the Japanese scans is slow, as the idea to release them as well came later. That means that the raw scans were already deleted from personal storage, leaving us with only fully cleaned pages, and therefore we had to redownload the raws. They had to be balanced again but it was easy enough to add the repair work from the fully cleaned pages, as it was simply a matter of copying and pasting chunks of cleaned pages onto the new ones.

Colored pages aren't as easy to work with, however, as it is harder to reach the exact same tone. Luckily there are few of those that require us to put old edits onto new scans. Many of them are like the page below:

Until now, only TriMax Vol 1 is ready in the Japanese version and TriMax Vol 2 is currently in works. Once we reach three chapters into TriMax Vol 3 we'll be able to follow the new cleaning plan and no extra restoration work will be required.

All the Japanese scans will be released only in PDF format in the future. We'll only share the PNGs of the pages on direct personal request.

the relationship between La Fayette and Napoléon was a very complex and layered one, but I will try to give you detailed summary.

The first link between La Fayette and Napoléon was in January of 1791 when a young Napoléon mentioned La Fayette in a letter to his friend Matteo Buttafoco. The letter and commentary on it can be found in this post here.

The next serious connection between these two man came when Napoléon defeated the Austrians and the Treaty of Campo Formio was signed, thus freeing La Fayette and his fellow prisoners from Olmütz. La Fayette, duly thankful to Napoléon, wrote the General a note of thanks. Again, the letter itself and commentary can be found in this post here.

La Fayette spend the next years in exile and he and Napoléon had next to no real connection at the time. This all changed when La Fayette, due to the brilliant work of Adrienne, returned to France during Napoléon’s Coup d’État in 1799.

His name and the names of many of his family members were still on the list of émigrés so legally they could not return to France. When La Fayette did so anyway, Napoléon was not amused. He was eventually consoled by Adrienne and Napoléon eventually restored La Fayette’s citizenship in March of 1800.

La Fayette was banned from attending the memorial service for the American General George Washington who died on December 14, 1799. George Washington had been a close friend, confident and father figure for La Fayette. Despite all this, La Fayette’s and Napoléon’s relationship still was rather friendly. They actually had a certain respect for each other as Generals but especially Napoléon was from the start quite wary around the Marquis. La Fayette had been vastly popular in France and still was. His popularity had greatly suffered during the second half of the French Revolution but his time in prison and the actions of his wife had partly helped to restore it. La Fayette had no political ambitions when he returned to France and his popularity was still tarnished but he nevertheless could have posed a threat to Napoléon if he really, really would have wanted that. The two of them met a few times at social functions and also exchanged letters but their relationship deteriorated more and more with time. They were similar in one aspect though, they both longed for glory – but their approach was different.

Napoléon hoped to gain La Fayette’s support for his government but La Fayette refused to serve in the Senate and to become the French ambassador to his beloved America, although both positions were suggested to him through different sources. La Fayette was also offered to be made a member of the Legion of Honour. He again refused. He had no interest of being overly entangled with Napoléon. Although not being outspoken in public La Fayette would not keep his opinions for himself if somebody asked him about his opinions. Actually, there was no need asking him about his opinions, La Fayette was one of the most well-known men in France, everybody even remotely interested in politics knew his stance. There is a passage from a conversation Napoléon and La Fayette had in the summer of 1802:

‘I [Napoléon] must tell you, General Lafayette, and I see with regret that, by your manner of expressing yourself on the acts of the government you give to its enemies the weight of your name.’ Lafayette replied, ‘What better can I do? I live in retirement in the country, I avoid occasions for speaking; but whenever anyone comes to ask me whether your regime conforms to my ideas of liberty, I shall answer that it does not; for, General, I certainly wish to be prudent, but I shall not be false.’

La Fayette did not trust Napoléon and did not wish to be part of his government. La Fayette voted against the consulship for life and this decision was at least from Napoléon’s point of view the final nail in the coffin of their relationship. La Fayette explained to Napoléon himself in a letter from May 20, 1802:

General – When a man who is deeply impressed with a sense of the gratitude he owes you, and who is too ardent a lover of glory to be wholly indifferent to yours, connects his suffrage with conditional restrictions, those restrictions not only secure him from suspicion, but prove amply that no one will more gladly than himself behold in you the chief magistrate for life, of a free and independent republic.

But La Fayette was still somewhat out of Napoléon’s reach. But his son, who joined the military in 1800, and his son-in-law, Louis de Lasteyrie, were not. Although both of them and especially Georges, distinguished themselves in battles, they were not promoted. Whenever a promotion for one of them was up for debate, it never came to pass. La Fayette’s son and son-in-law therefor left the army in September of 1807 – there was just no point in serving any longer.

During the 100 Days, Napoléon’s brief return to power after his exile on St. Helena and prior to his exile on Elba, La Fayette became outspoken once again. He had been elected to the Chamber of Representatives (not to be confused with the Chamber of Deputies; both were the lower chambers of the French Parliament but the Chamber of Deputies was active during the Bourbon Restoration, the Chamber of Representatives was only active during The Hundred Days) in 1814. He had previously argued that too little people in France were eligible to vote the members of the Chamber of Deputies that such a political body could never represent France. Anyway, La Fayette was pretty silent as a Representative until June 21, 1815, after Napoléon’s defeat at Waterloo. The Chamber meet early that day to discuss the general state of affairs. La Fayette rose and proposed the following:

Representatives! For the first time during many years you hear a voice, which the old friends of liberty will yet recognize. I rise to address you concerning the dangers to which the country is exposed. The sinister reports which have been circulated during the last two days, are unhappily confirmed. This is the moment to rally round the national colours—the Tricoloured Standard of 1788—the standard of liberty, equality, and public order. It is you alone who can now protect the country from foreign attacks, and internal dissensions. It is you alone who can secure the independence and the honour of France.

Permit a veteran in the sacred cause of liberty, in all times a stranger to the spirit of faction, to submit to you some resolutions which appear to him to be demanded by a sense of the public danger, and by the love of our country. They are such as, I feel persuaded, you will see the necessity of adopting:

I. The Chamber of Deputies declares that the independence of the nation is menaced.

II. The Chamber declares its sittings permanent. Any attempt to dissolve it, shall be considered high treason. Whosoever shall render himself culpable of such an attempt shall be considered a traitor to his country, and immediately treated as such.

III. The Army of the Line, and the National Guards, who have fought, and still fight, for the liberty, the independence, and the territory of France, have merited well of the country.

IV. The Minister of the Interior is invited to assemble the principal officers of the Parisian national Guard, in order to consult on the means of providing it with arms, and of completing this corps of citizens, whose tried patriotism and zeal offer a sure guarantee for the liberty, prosperity, and tranquillity of the capital, and for the inviolability of the national representatives.

V. The Ministers of War, of Foreign Affairs, of Police, and of the Interior are invited to repair immediately to the sittings of the Chamber.

The resolution was soon adopted with the exception of the fourth paragraph. Please note that the exact wording of La Fayette’s little speech differs a little bit from translation to translation, but the gist is always the same. La Fayette more or less openly called for the abdication of the Emperor Napoléon. When Napoléon’s brother urged the Chamber to reconsider La Fayette answered him that (again, different sources translate slightly different):

Who shall dare to accuse the French nation of inconstancy to the Emperor Napoleon? That nation has followed his bloody footsteps through the sands of Egypt and through the wastes of Russia; over fifty fields of battle; in disaster as faithfully as victory; and it is for having thus devotedly followed him that we now mourn the blood of three millions of Frenchmen.

Yes, la Fayette could give quite a speech - if he wanted to. Other the next days, Napoléon was urged to abdicate (June 22, 1815) with the threat that the Chamber would otherwise abdicate for him. The Chamber selected a committee of fife men to meet with delegates of the allied forces for the allies had promised peace negotiations, provided Napoléon was not longer in power. One of these fife men was La Fayette. There are not too many letters from La Fayette about these events that I can show you, but here is an excerpt from a letter to Thomas Jefferson from October 10, 1815:

In your Letters of Last year, anterior to the first Abdication of Bonaparte, you Had Expressed a due Sense of that Character who Having it in His Power to Be a Blessing did prefer to Become a Curse to Mankind. His despotism and His follies Had made the Restoration of the Bourbons, notwithstanding foreign invasion, a popular Event—They Returned the Compliment. Their prejudiced mismanagement, the more Glaring improprieties of Privilege-men Gave Napoleon the Opportunity to Reappear as a Representative of the Revolution. Whatever may Have Been a few Subaltern Intrigues, the Great, the Efficacious Conspiracy in His Behalf may Be attributed to the Counter Revl[uti]onary party.

in those transactions I took No part altho’ I would Have Readily assisted in Opposing Napoleon Had Not the patriotic System me[t] the Same objections which Had Ruined the Constitutional throne of 92.

We then Have Seen the Imperial destroyer of french Liberty Reassuming a Republican Language, Bowing to [na]tional Sovereignty, allowing a free press, and altho’ Vindictive or Arbitrary acts too often Betray’d old Habits, persuading many patriots to Rejoice at His Conversion—Not So did I—But While I Shunned personal Communication with Him, I declared that, if a free Representation was Convened, I would Stand a Candidate—we were, my Son and myself elected.

at the Same time a million of foreign invaders were, in Concert with Lewis the 18t and the elder Branch of His family, Led Against Bonaparte, was it Said, against what and whom the Event Has proved—the defense of national independance and territory Became, of Course, our principal object. it was my opinion that Unanimity and vigor Could Better Be Roused By a popular than By the Imperial Government—The Majority of the Assembly and Army depended more on the General Ship of Napoleon altho’ His whole troops did little Exceed two Hundred thousand. So we all joined on that Line of Resistance. No impediment was thrown, Every Assistance was Given. Never did our Heroïc Army fight Better than at waterloo. a Stubborn Mistake of Bonaparte Lost the day. He deserted His Soldiers, and Determined to dissolve our Assembly, usurp dictatorial powers, prefering the chances of Confusion and involving destruction to those of firmness and patriotism. That part of the impending Evils was timely prevented. it might Have Been the Case with the other part, altho’ Coming upon us in a Storm, Had Not the old diplomacy in poland, Napoleon’s policy in Spain, the Spirit of pilnitz in 91, and of the Last Congress at vienna Been far Surpassed By the present Coalition.

inclosed you will find a few pieces Relative to our Late House of Representatives. their declaration of the 5t July 1815 Congenial with the principles of 1789 are an additional proof that if the french people Have deplorably Erred in the means they Have Steadily persevered in the primary object of the Revolution.

After Napoléon’s abdication, the relationship between him and La Fayette effectively ended safe for one important letter that I would like to show you. La Fayette had himself been a prisoner of war for several years and he had suffered under the conditions imposed upon him. When there was talk that the British mistreated Napoléon on Saint Helena, La Fayette wrote a letter to the American Secretary of the Treasury William H. Crawford in 1819 – and as before, the letter can be found in this post here.

Thoughts after BSD Season 5

(spoilers ahead)

1. Fyodor is alive

Fyodor has been one of the driving villains and I don’t believe that even his defeat at Meursault is the end of him, especially since all we see is his arm. Further, Sigma was able to touch him and live.

While Sigma is currently unconscious, due to having taken all of the knowledge in Fyodor’s mind into his own, there are several possible ways for him to return. This includes him being able to process through all of the information due to having so little life experience (only three years of memories), and possibly receiving help from Ango and/or Chief Taneda with their own information based abilities.

Back to Fyodor. We still, after all this time, do not know his ability. But now Sigma does—assuming he can wake up. Which means the moment is perfect for a big reveal of Fyodor’s true ability. Would it truly make sense to set up such a big reveal for an already-dead character?

Lastly, Asagiri very rarely kills off significant characters (at least not permanently). So I really doubt we’ve seen the last of Fyodor.

2. New Agency Members and Allies

Ok, so this is exciting! I think there are gonna be a looootttt of new Agency members very very soon (in the aftermath of…the aftermath?). Namely Lucy (officially) and Sigma, but tangentially Aya and Bram (they may or may not be “official” ADA members, but will be closely related). Fitzgerald probably won’t ever officially join the ADA, but he will have established himself more closely as an ally for them. Similarly, the remaining Hunting Dogs will remain distinct from the agency, but I doubt they’ll just disappear after their significance in this last arc.

3. Unresolved aspects

Most things were (seemingly) wrapped up really well with season five/vol 24. And yet…

- Fyodor’s body wasn’t seen (I won’t accept he’s dead until it’s cut into pieces and ritually slated and burned)

- The immediate aftermath of Fukuchi’s death and Bram’s restoration is fully unknown (before the ‘2 hours later’ bit); what happens to the vampires? To the page? To the One Order?

- Fukuzawa’s grief and the aftermath of it, both for him personally and for the agency

- The page—was it fully used? If so, is it powerless now? What happened to it?

- Full “resolution” of the arc, bringing everyone back together

- Did Chuuya get the vampire teeth off?

…

- What the fUCK was that “2 hours later” scene?????????

4. The “two hours later” and other personal theories

**Disclaimer that everything after this point is my own personal theories

- The two hours later scene was absolutely wild, and I don’t have too many theories yet, but it seems most likely that the page (or a page of the book) was used to alter reality yet again, potentially creating an AU? Idk but those outfits are insane and I love them

- The time between Dazai’s “death” and his appearance to Fyodor—Chuuya absolutely was concerned about Dazai and helped (at least partially) carry him to the landing for Fyodor; the idiot insisted on walking by himself to not appear weak in front of Fyodor, but before that? He absolutely was leaning hard on Chuuya (and after too)

- Sigma and Atsushi—so, it’s easy to lose track of in the many twists of Bungou, but the overall story is still moving towards finding the book, in its entirety, rather than just a singular page.

Back in Season 2, Fitzgerald was told by Fyodor that Atsushi was key in finding the book. This still hasn’t been fully explained. Now, many have noticed the similarities between Sigma and Atsushi. In particular—their unique, two-toned eyes. Additionally, Atsushi lacks much background in the same way as Sigma—we know very little about him before the orphanage, or even how he came to the orphanage.

The only pre-orphanage event we know of is from Dead Apple, where Atsushi is shown to have been experimented on by Fyodor and Shibusawa (before killing Shibusawa). But where was he before that? How did they get him? Well…if Fyodor had one page…

I think Atsushi himself, like Sigma, was written out of the Book. Created to play a role he had no idea about from the start. And why is he key to finding the book? Because Atsushi himself is a product of it. He is fundamentally connected to it in a way no one else is (until Sigma).

This also contributes to my theory that Fyodor is not truly dead. He has his own motives, apart from the Decay of Angels, and would use the book for his own purposes (to effectively become unstoppable, though he’d enjoy any attempts to fight against him). He’s nowhere near finished yet.

Anyways this was way too long but AHHHHH waiting till February for the next Manga chapter is going to kill me
