This is the Original Marini's Empanada House in Houston, Texas. They sell authentic Argentinian Empanadas. They are hand made to order and are fantastic!!! They have all kinds. I had the original beef ones, the spinach and cheese ones, and a caramel apple one, too. They are delicious, authentic, and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very warm and pleasant, and the aroma is divine. I can't wait to go back there!! 😋😍😋

Flower Day
Flower Day is celebrated annually on May 20. It makes a toast to the beauty of flowers and the ways they are useful to us. On the holiday, environmentalists and conservationists create awareness about flower conservation and what can be done to save endangered flower species.
History of Flower Day
We love flowers because of their awe-inspiring beauty and fragrance. They also play a significant role in romance, medicine, rituals, and religion. You can spot them at christenings, funerals, weddings, and parties, as corsages and boutonnieres at special occasions, and as home decorations and thoughtful gifts. They are also used at places of worship, especially by Hindus. It’s not uncommon to see religious shrines adorned with flowers.
There are also some flowers that regularly feature in our meals! Nutritious vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and artichoke are actually flowers. Similarly, some flowers are used as spices, such as crocus (or saffron), cloves, and capers. Hops are used in beer, and dandelion and elderflowers are used in wines and cocktails. Moreover, some flowers are used to make herbal teas, while others are used as metaphors. For example, red roses symbolize love, poppies of death, iris and lilies of burial, and daisies of innocence. Artists and poets have also sought flowers as muses.
However, caring for flowers is no mean feat! Flowers have their own unique requirements in terms of growth and health. Some flowers prefer to be in the shade, while others need sunlight. Still, others thrive in damp soil, while some require the soil to be on the drier side. Flowers are divas, but they’re divas that have held our hearts for centuries.

As a Texan who moved out of Texas to the NE I am consistently BAFFLED by the way northeastern Mexican and “Tex-mex” restaurants up here attribute everything to Austin?? One of the cities in Texas with the WORST Tex-Mex food.
#I literally am at a Mexican restaurant right now and they describe queso as an ‘Austin style cheese dip’#like bitch what???#go somewhere with higher Mexican American density if you want to have real texmex like Houston or San Antonio. jesusssssss

So how was the food at Rainforest Cafe?
Mine was fine, I had coconut shrimp which came with the legendary Safari Fries (they are just a thick cut french fries like you'd find at any chain restaurant lol but their not bad). Also coleslaw.
I wanted to try something different but it was too expensive to take a chance on. But if you like fried shrimp, I can vouch that their coconut shrimp is tasty.
I really just went for the ambience. I sat threw 2 of the thunderstorms.
#magic5ball#there are 0 margaritavilles in houston but we've got 2 rainforest cafes so I think that's the better deal#i'm assuming because in Houston there's a mexican restaurant every block I'm pretty sure a margaritaville here wouldn't be a huge deal

Welcome to my Blog!
Hello, welcome to Brunch, Books, and Baggage; where I'll be writing reviews on three of my favorite things; exquisite eats, good reads, and travel destinations! I'll also be sharing some of my favorite recipes, but first, let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Kelli Lamier; I'm a mother, author, educator, avid reader, frequent traveler, home chef, and foodie. I love curling up with a good book (I'm one of the few people who still prefer physical books), exploring around and out of town, trying new restaurants, and replicating some of their tasty dishes at home. I'm currently a resident of Houston, so I'll be reviewing all of my favorite local spots and new restaurants and tourist areas on my radar. As a persistent traveler, I will also uncover hidden gems all around the country and out of the country as well. My eleven-year-old daughter Kami's palette is well developed for her age and while she isn't much of a fan of reading like myself, she has quickly become my partner in travel and dining. Once again, welcome, come on in, and I hope you enjoy the journey!

working customer service from home and not being able to go outside without being cooked makes me feel like an anchorite, but without the corresponding spiritual fulfillment or respect from those who call upon me
#i'm ok i just miss being able to step out my front door without gaining firsthand knowledge of a soup ingredient's woes#also can we talk about how the houston restaurant weeks are during the hottest part of the year?#they might as well go ahead and name the next covid variant after it bc only an extremophile would voluntarily sit outside to eat rn
