The people who are in power right now want us to be quiet and cowed. So we need to be noisy and defiant to show that we are not going anywhere. And we need to show each other that we are going to survive this — even if it gets dark.

Sudan’s Armed Forces (SAF) have recaptured Khartoum International Airport from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). RSF fighters fled across a nearby bridge as the army secured full control of the facility, according to military sources.
The development follows SAF’s seizure of the Republican Palace and several key government buildings last week, including the Central Bank and the National Intelligence Service headquarters. SAF troops have also encircled areas surrounding the airport, tightening their grip on the capital in a major push against the RSF.

This is where we're at folks. Do you want to stand by while our democracy crumbles or do you want to help stop it?
I'm helping organzing the LA protest for April 5th with 50501, which is looking to have protests in all 50 states simultaneously. The only way to stop what is happening is the mass mobilization of people. Be present, show you object to the erasure of our democracy. If you want to volunteer or just join the march, find your local chapter: https://www.fiftyfifty.one/
If you're in California, message me and I'll connect you.

They Do Not Exist (1974) by Mustafa Abu Ali (watch)
from PalestineCinema.com:
Salvaged from the ruins of Beirut after 1982, Abu Ali's early film has only recently been made available. Shooting under extraordinary conditions, the director, who worked with Godard on his Ici et Ailleurs (Here and Elsewhere), and founded the PLO's film division, covers conditions in Lebanon's refugee camps, the effects of Israeli bombardments, and the lives of guerrillas in training camps. They Do Not Exist is a stylistically unique work which demonstrates the intersection between the political and the aesthetic. Now recognised as a cornerstone in the development of Palestinian cinema, the film only received its Palestine premiere in 2003, when a group of Palestinian artists "smuggled" the director to a makeshift cinema in his hometown of Jerusalem (into which Israel bars his entry). Abu Ali, who saw his film for the first time in 20 years at this clandestine event noted: "We used to say 'Art for the Struggle', now it's 'Struggle for the Art'"

Im a little over a hundred pages into SOTR and I could write an essay long analysis on any of the characters already. It is so good. I love its messages on propaganda and how oppressive governments are maintained. It brings up an important issue of accepting things for how they are and how most people believe that their individual choices are powerless in the grand scheme of things. But that can’t be further from the truth. Individual acts of resistance are powerful in their ability to inspire others.
Heres some quotes that stuck with me:
“You can’t count on things happening tomorrow just because they happened in the past. It’s faulty logic… And that’s part of the trouble. Thinking things are inevitable. Not believing change is possible.” (Page 10.)
Lenore Dove says this to Haymitch about the possibility that one day there may not be a reaping on his birthday. He’s lost hope on a better future, but she holds onto it. The world isn’t static. Things have changed before and they will change again.
“Why do you agree to it? Why do I? For that matter, why have people always agreed to it?” (Page 104.)
Plutarch asks Haymitch why people choose not to resist. He asks why people don’t fight back after a certain point, instead just accepting the grim reality. Everyone has a choice in their actions. They could choose to disobey those in authority. But they don’t in favor of taking the ‘safer path.’ Everyone has the ability to defy unjust orders. Why don’t they? Yes, they obey out of fear, but their obedience is still what causes the injustice to continue. Even many in the Capital still likely believe children dying gruesome deaths over and over again is wrong. They are human after all. But they accept it as necessary to uphold some twisted idea of “peace.”
Later on Beetee says “You only need to disconnect one piece — say, remove a wire — and the whole battery goes dead.” (Page 111.)
One visible and known act of rebellion is enough to break the system. One person who steps out of line can cause it to come apart. And it is slowly breaking. We can see cracks in the system slowly forming throughout the prequel that lead to it to shatter by the time Katniss and Peeta win. Katniss didn’t start the rebellion. It was always building from Lucy Gray, Sejanus, Haymitch, Beetee, Wiress, and Plutarch. But she was final wire that caused the battery to burst.

Yes! Resistance must continue in order to strain the resources of the enemy. And if absolutely necessary, then armed resistance is the only answer.

♦️ Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine:
Let’s Make “Land Day” a Historic Day in Defense of Our Homeland and Our People’s Sovereignty Over Every Inch of It.
The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, in a statement today, called for making March 30, 2025 – "Land Day" a landmark day of struggle, under the slogan: “Defending every inch of our homeland and our sovereignty over it; confronting the colonial settler occupation, the projects of destruction, displacement, and annexation in the West Bank; the genocide in the Gaza Strip; and the plans to forcibly displace its residents.”
The Democratic Front stated: “Land Day” is a day to strengthen our unity on the ground. On this day, we call upon our Arab peoples, friendly nations, and the free people of the world to stand with us and raise their voices to condemn the genocidal wars, ethnic cleansing, the colonization of peoples, and the seizure of their lands, and the redrawing of borders and equations between countries in service of the brutal American-"israeli" hegemony projects.

At least we are stopping some of the insanity
Trump got absolutely dumpstered in court in the last few days.
His and Elon's program to pay people to retire early has been halted by a temporary restraining order issued by District Judge George A. O’Toole Jr. of the US District Court, District of Massachusetts in American Federation of Government Employees et al v. Charles Ezell (acting Acting Director of the Office of Personnel Management). This temporary order only lasts until they have a hearing on Monday to determine whether this program is constitutional.
13 state attorneys general sued to prevent Elon from accessing personal data about government employees and citizen clients of their agencies, leading to Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly in the case Alliance for Retired Americans v. Scott Bessent (Trump's Secretary of the Treasury) ordering the Department of Justice to ensure no unauthorized persons, including Elon and his team, have access to the Labor Department's database of information on tax filings, employment, and the like.
Two separate judges have ruled that Trump's executive order trying to eliminate birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment is unconstitutional. U.S. District Judge John Coughenour of the western Washington district, a REAGAN appointee (!), said, "It has become ever more apparent that to our president the rule of law is but an impediment to his policy goals. The rule of law is, according to him, something to navigate around or simply ignore, whether that be for political or personal gain." The other judge, US District Judge Deborah Boardman of Maryland, ruled that the executive order cannot be implemented until she has had a chance to rule on the merits of the case.
US District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth in DC paused Trump’s restrictions on transgender women being incarcerated in women’s prisons and federal prisons providing gender-affirming medical treatment, after inmates (!) sued to block the policy.
US District Judge Loren L. Alikhan of DC broadly blocked the Trump administration’s memo halting almost all federal assistance.
That's six rulings scrapping five of Trump's major policy operations in the past four days (Feb 3rd through the 6th, 2025).
That's news worth celebrating!
