I got hit by the notion that I really wanted to repaint a Barbie Dream Bestie, so I purchased this VERY wonky Renee along with Brooklyn since I figured she could use the new face.

Also a chance to see that the blank sculpt looks like.

I didn't really go into this repaint with a plan, and just sorta made it up as I went. It's a little outside of my usual aesthetic, whatever that is, and I'm not sure if I personally love it. I'll sleep on it, but if I'm still not vibing with her I'll get a new Renee and sell this one.

Happy Anniversary to Bendy and the Ink Machine Chapter 3! Coincidentally, this is also the anniversary of Barbie in Princess and the Pauper, so naturally I had to do something silly. XD So have a video where I sing a verse of I Am A Girl Like You (while getting over a cold) with my doll customs as they hold hands. Because that's what the Internet was made for! X'''D

Great glue seepage infographic made by MisfitDollies on here! It includes a tutorial on taking care of it with goo gone specifically but I have been hearing people are getting better results with oxyclean lately.

"What if I made the 1959 Barbie with a 2003 Polly Pocket?" I said,

"I can repaint her whole face, that definitely won't hurt my eyes!" I said.

Yeah, I really like the 1959 (first) barbie doll design, so I decided to have fun by making a tiny doll of it, rerooting her hair was surprisingly easy! I think I'll do more Polly pocket customization in the future...

If I ever find one with hair again!

Barbie to Elphaba Transformation

So after much deliberation and a lot of asking questions to my mysterious friends @mermaidyarn @afayebray @ladynoirfanao3 and @jigglypuff1994 (“who are these friends?!” “How do you know them!?”) my 9 yo decided she didn’t want to transform these dolls afterall and she wanted one of the blonde barbies with articulated joints.

Some people might say you could just go to the shops and buy an Elphaba doll but these people don’t know how boring summer holidays can get.

Here is the before and after photos. We also made a video because we were that bored.

Then we sewed her clothes from some old rags we had in the fabric basket and voila!!

Now before you ask me if we’re doing Galinda next, she has a standard Barbie to go with it with lots of pink clothes that was what started it all. It has flicky flick hair and it’s perfect.

We need some dark blue striped fabric from somewhere to make the Shiz uniforms (she doesn’t ask for much).

We followed a hair dying tutorial on YouTube which used shaving cream, watercolour and fabric softened, but we used acrylic because that’s what I had on hand. But it didn’t go very dark as you can see it looks more ash blonde/brown but I’m not rerooting because I’m just doing this out of what we have at home.

the new pixelated barbie faces are horrible to remove. ive tried following reddit advice on leaving soaked cotton balls of pure acetone on their faces for 20-30 min before trying to scrub the paint off but that barely even made a dent, and i repeated it like 3 times, ive only been able to get like 40% of the paint off at best. elbow grease seems to basically do nothing regardless.

due to getting careless from frustration i also accidentally got some acetone on their bodies so they have some melted scars now :( which sucks bc i bought them for their MTM bodies to begin with and removing the facepaint and repainting them was just supposed to be something unimportant to do with their old heads while i figure out what new heads to put on them..... so, lesson learned, pop the heads off before attempting to remove the paint on the pixelated dolls bc all the hard work makes it way more likely to accidentally damage the bodies.

anyone have any other advice about removing the pixelated facepaints than this "leave cotton soaked in acetone on them"?

She was one of my first and also one of the few Barbie-sized doll repaints. I soon realized that's too small for me and my "skills". 😅 (She's probably a Defa Lucy?)

Guess who never watched The Vampire Diaries at the age of almost 29 and now needs to do a marathon because of Damon Salvatore? Me, it's me 🙃 I had heard about his charm but never explored the character...time to change that!!

Anyway! While I prepare myself mentally, here's my latest works: a commission for Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert portrait custom dolls ❤️‍🔥

If you know me, you also know that making portrait dolls always makes me super anxious, and this time I also had to style a super short rooted hairstyle, which doubled the panic but, in the end, I can finally breathe again 🫠

Though this face is giving villain to me. Maybe she's actually more of a Raquelle?

I wish I loved this face up more, because I genuinely think I did a good job on it. I don't want to wipe it and do it over. But also. I think someone else would enjoy her a lot more than me.
