I got hit by the notion that I really wanted to repaint a Barbie Dream Bestie, so I purchased this VERY wonky Renee along with Brooklyn since I figured she could use the new face.

Also a chance to see that the blank sculpt looks like.

I didn't really go into this repaint with a plan, and just sorta made it up as I went. It's a little outside of my usual aesthetic, whatever that is, and I'm not sure if I personally love it. I'll sleep on it, but if I'm still not vibing with her I'll get a new Renee and sell this one.

Happy Anniversary to Bendy and the Ink Machine Chapter 3! Coincidentally, this is also the anniversary of Barbie in Princess and the Pauper, so naturally I had to do something silly. Great glue seepage infographic made by MisfitDollies on here! It includes a tutorial on taking care of it with goo gone specifically but I have been hearing people are getting better results with oxyclean lately.

"I can repaint her whole face, that definitely won't hurt my eyes!" I said.

Yeah, I really like the 1959 (first) barbie doll design, so I decided to have fun by making a tiny doll of it, rerooting her hair was surprisingly easy! I think I'll do more Polly pocket customization in the future...

If I ever find one with hair again!

On a Disney princess kick this week. My customs are in various states of terrifying aka I’m having fun

Mulan is getting a more screen accurate faceup. Cindy’s getting a reroot (hopefully if the hair I ordered is the right color in person)

Moana’s getting her head shrunk to fit in with the others better (she’s a Mattel head and Hasbro body) as well as a new face, and new articulated hands

Snow is the only one remotely presentable, though her hair needs styling. Which should be the easiest thing, but I hate doing doll hair. So.

Regardless, I’m having so much fun with these :) These dolls have been waiting in storage until I gained the motivation to do something with them, so I’m glad I finally picked them back up. I have plans for some more gals, including Merida, Anastasia (don bluth), and Esmeralda (whose parts are laying around somewhere, but I can’t find them lol)

The end. I always forget about this page but I should rlly start using it as a blog for my projects. Ok I’m done.

My repainted Barbie Dream Besties Renee.

Though this face is giving villain to me. Maybe she's actually more of a Raquelle?

I wish I loved this face up more, because I genuinely think I did a good job on it. I don't want to wipe it and do it over. But also. I think someone else would enjoy her a lot more than me.

So I had this awesome vintage Barbie inspired idea... How to unbald a doll in one hour or less ✨

Basically I painted her head with acrylic paint with the vintage hairline and fabric glued hair (unraveled yarn) around the perimeter of her head and blasted her with hair dryer.

It could use some more work on the technique, but along with the ten minute yarn buzzcut it's a pretty solid idea for fixing a bald doll with the least amount of energy, effort, pain or time.

Some of you might remember a post I made last year about redoing a Barbie to be Aimee Witch, but I never posted much follow-up to it. One of my friends brought me a ton of most excellent Barbie clothes today, though, and I wanted to show her off.

And not just Aimee, but Cruella Unusual, Frosti Chicken and Victoire, too:
