The best part about Sonic Prime is nobody else but New Yolk Knuckles has a New York accent. You see from the flashback to when Green Hill was destroyed that he just sounded normal, but fast-forward to when the Egg Council have subjugated everyone and he's talking like this.
And he is the ONLY one who sounds like this. Rouge, Big, Nine and the Eggmen sound pretty normal but he got the accent going, and for what? It's funny as hell.
Welp. Sonic Prime. Its over. There are SO MANY THINGS I WANNA TALK ABOUT IT
Unfortunately I dont have the talents to make those big ol' analysis like some creative peps so I'll just ramble non sensenly please stick with me okay
I LOVE HOW EVERYTHING PLAYED OUT SO MUCH
Sonic learning his lesson to listen to his friends and slow down, learning to accept help, the shatter versions getting along and forming strong bonds, (Mangey and Sails teaming up, Rusty, Black and Thorn being sisters, Renegade and Dread sharing the lead etc)
I love how Nine's character and arc was handled, though I do wish we got some glimpses of him apologizing better to everyone and maybe befriending them I still love how everything played out. How we could see him slowly softening in some parte, Sonic finally properly understanding him and protecting him even when everyone was agaisnt him, AND THE FACT THAT NINE HUGGED HIM AT THE END EVEN THOUGH HE WAS "NOT A HUGGER"
I love how all the alternative Roses are besties and OMG I AM FREAKING OUT WHAT SONIC SAID TO AMY AT THE END???
"No one protects nature better than you, sweet Amy"
SWEET AMY SWEET. IM CRYINGGGGGGG
I also love how Renegade teamed up with Sonic to fight Nine and took care of him when his energy was drained out.
I just genuely love how EVERYONE was so gentle with Sonic when he was in a vulnerable moment, all helping him to stay on his feet, carrying him, etc.
I love the parallel of Shadow carrying Sonic bridal style to back when Sonic did it to him
And I love how when Sonic goes back to Green Hill he's immediatly so happy to see everyone while his friends are like "wtf???" cause Sonic is never usually the emotional, clingy type (but something tells me he will be pretty clingy for a few weeks at least LOL)
And I love how despite being confused Sonic's friends were still happy to see he's finally came around and learned to stick with them and follow the plan.
I love everything. Thank you Netflix, for Sonic Prime, and thank you Sega, I think you might be finally getting the Sonic Franchise back to its glory.
Okay, I brought this up in the Knuckles-focused discord server I'm in, so I think I'll just toss it out here.
Of all the variants and alternatives in Sonic Prime, the one that strikes me the most is (obviously) Knuckles. Why? Because his alternates may seem on the surface to just be "so unlike Knuckles, ha ha" when, if you really think about it, they're pretty much simply different parts of his personality. In a sense, HE was shattered, just as much as the universe was. The rest of the gang all seem products of their environments, but Knux feels different to me.
Renegade is the most like Prime Knuckles. He represents Knux's sense of duty. Of protection. He fights for a purpose, a reason, and that's what guides him. He isn't concerned with his own safety (if the various scars and such on his body are any indication) and instead will do whatever it takes to keep others safe and fight the evil Chaos Council. He's a guardian, even if what he's guarding is a concept instead of a giant magic rock.
I subscribe to the idea that Knuckles is infused with chaos energy, and can thus feel, sense, and possibly even see that energy in the world around him. So Gnarly is his connection to chaos. He seems kinda nuts, muttering and mumbling about the 'trees talking' to him, but what if they actually are? Chaos is infused in all living things, and since he lives in essentially a giant jungle, he would feel all that chaos associated with it. Maybe he's feeling that energy, and since there is so damn much of it, it feels like mutterings in his mind. Noise he can't place or ignore, and it makes him feel like he's going insane.
Now Dread, oh my boy Dread. I love that batshit boy, that off his rocker echidna. He is the part of Knuckles that maybe Knuckles doesn't even know he has. That part that makes him want to be seen, be recognized. Being the guardian of the Master Emerald is an invisible, thankless job, and maybe there's some small part of Knux that would like to be known. Dread is all about that notoriety, achieving 'legendary' status. He wants the fame, the attention. And keeping that Prism Shard all to himself would get him that.
Can't wait to see more of these boys in the next part of the season.
After losing the pirates over to the resistance, Nine is despaired. No matter what he sends after the blue hero, he always manages in the end to overcome it.
Time is slowly running out. It won’t be long till the Grim falls alongside to the rest shatterspaces.
As such, it is good that he at least has another supersonic speed hedgehog at his disposal. One that he will make sure to utilise the best he can, when he realises how much important must he be to the other.
Betrayal tastes good from the side of the traitor. This once, however, Nine will have Sonic taste it from the side of the betrayed party.
....
Soooo– usually I wouldn’t be giving the link to my works in AO3 here on Tumblr, but I thought why not for once? I mean it doesn’t harm, does it? Heh. I present my Sonic Prime take with the great plot-twist of Nine using Shadow, hehe.
I will work on the second chapter soon :)
In the meantime I hope you can enjoy the first <( ̄︶ ̄)>
