How The Owl House did amputee representation right before Eda ever lost her arm - Disability in Media
[ID: A screenshot of Eda from The Owl House, an old woman with pale skin, very large, grey hair and pointed ears in a red dress. Beside the screenshot on a dark pink background is text that reads "Disability in media, How the Owl House got amputee representation right before eda ever lost her arm." /End ID]
Dana Terrace's The Owl House has some of the best disability rep I’ve seen on a Disney channel show in a long time, with Eda, the main character’s mentor, being one of many stand-out examples.
Plenty of people have discussed how Eda’s curse and the loss of her magic can work as an allegory for disability and how refreshing it is to see a story (especially one aimed at a younger audience) who’s focus is not on her “overcoming” it, but learning to accept it as a part of her and go from there. Eda’s story tackles a lot of subjects that are often mishandled in other examples of disability representation, from the subject of parents who refuse to accept, to glass siblings and much, much more, The Owl House handles all these topics beautifully.
But one thing that dawned on me during my most recent re-watch of The Owl House is how well Eda (and later Lilith) worked as amputee representation, long before Eda actually lost her arm.
One of the side effects of Eda and Lilith’s curse is that sometimes their body parts, mainly their limbs, can fall off. It doesn’t hurt them, and Eda is seen removing them intentionally at multiple times in the series, but they can always be reattached.
[ID: an image of Eda holding her sister Lilith's hand. Lilith is a pale woman with long, black hair, wearing grey clothes. She is looking at her other arm suprised, as her hand is missing. Luz, a Latina girl with short brown hair and a purple hoodie is looking on, smiling. /End ID]
While most likely unintentional, the way the show depicts this with Eda in particular is exactly what I wish more people would do with their prosthetic-using amputee characters.
Eda detaches her limbs, especially her legs, when they’re inconvenient or when she’s relaxing.
[ID: an image of Eda laying on the couch in a bathrobe, her hair in a towel. She has taken her legs off, throwing them to the other side of the seat. /End ID]
The fact that this is mostly played for laughs is actually a good thing in my opinion (though obviously, the show’s overall tone is part of that), as it shows the audience who are mostly children and teens, that in a world of weird and downright scary (from the perspective of the characters) things, this isn't one of them. It’s just a thing she and Lilith can do, and it can even be funny.
[ID: An image of Luz and Eda dressed as pirates. Eda is sitting on the ground, her legs detached and off screen somewhere. /End ID]
It does startle Luz and Lilith on a few occasions, but that’s more because they didn’t know the curse could do that, but once they’re introduced to it, it’s never really brought up as a big deal again.
I’d love to see more amputee characters who do this with their prosthetics. So often media is almost afraid to have amputees take their prosthetics off on camera or on the page. For some folks, our prosthetics are like a part of our bodies, but that doesn’t mean we never take them off. Show your leg amputee flop on the couch and throw their legs across the room. Have them go without on occasion, not because they have to, but because they just don’t feel like putting them on.
Likewise, the owl house creators never shy away from showing Eda when her limbs aren’t all attached. A lot of media, and kid’s shows in particular, will avoid having an amputee character’s stump visible if they ever do take their prosthetics off - treating that part of the character’s body the same way they treat gore or nudity. I’ve talked before how this actually does have a real impact on how kids in particular react to amputees - I’ve legitimately had kids I worked with cry when I took my prosthetics off, then immediately calm down when they see there’s nothing "scary" under my socks. As much as I love How To Train Your Dragon, it’s very guilty of this. Hiccup looses his leg at the end of the first movie, and wakes up with his prosthetic already attached. The Netflix series has a few instances where he has his prosthetic off, but the camera almost always avoids showing it until he can cover it up again, or is super zoomed-out so you wouldn’t be able to “see anything”. To their credit, they do get better with this in the last movie (though it's still always covered), but for the majority of the series, they are very reluctant to have any shots where hiccup’s leg is in view without the prosthetic (unless they’re very far away).
[ID: a screenshot of Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon 3, a white man with short brown hair, and one leg missing, wearing armour made of black dragon scales and no prosthetic. He is holding onto toothless's head, a black dragon. /End ID]
Ironically, Eda does (permanently) loose an arm at the end of season 2, but I don’t really have much to say about her as amputee representation on that front, since she’s absent for a lot of Season 3, and when we do see her again, everything is so hectic, the story doesn’t really have any time to focus on her missing limb (which is reasonable). I will say, I do appreciate that they kept the amputation when she's in her owl-beast form in the finale, but there's honestly not much more to say about it. We do see her again in the epilogue after she’s had some time to settle into the amputation, wearing a hook prosthetic, but it’s, once again, too quick to really say anything from a representation standpoint. There's a few little nit-picky things I could bring up, like the fact they seemed to change the type on amputation she had (when she looses it, we see the split was very close to the elbow, but in the epilogue she has most of her forearm again) but those read to me more like animation mistakes or an odd prosthetic/clothing designs rather than a representation issue - and as someone who's worked in animation, given the stress the team was under for the finale, I'm not really worried about it. Like I said, it's more nit-picky than anything.
[ID: A screenshot of Eda, her hair tied back and wearing a red robe and a hook for her right hand. /End ID]
Despite all that though, I still think Eda is still good amputee representation, but mostly because of how they depict her curse’s side effects rather than her actual amputation. She’s honestly one of the only characters that I think you could refer to as “amputee coded” (outside of maybe Teen Titan’s Cyborg), and I genuinely wish more creators would treat their actual amputee characters the same way the Owl House treats Eda in that regard.

So as some of you may know, I am... let's say an armchair-level amateur scholar of classical studies. @qqueenofhades can tell you how often she has to talk me down off the ledge of enrolling in an MFA program.
Like some of you, I was an insufferable twelve-year-old when Disney's Hercules came out, and all of my critiques of that film were down to "it doesn't do the mythology right".
Well, I've reached the point where I don't care about that shit anymore. Go nuts. Have fun with it. There are, however, some... History Tik-tok tumblr Bad Takes about Greek mythology that I have very little patience for. #Girlboss Persephone, for instance, or basically anything that insists on treating the Greek gods like people, whose behavior can be judged as more or less Problematic, rather than... symbols, archetypes, divinities.
I am happy to say that Kaos, while it obviously plays fast and loose with basically every element, captures the vibes of Olympus. The feels. Jeff Goldblum's intense, eccentric and fucking terrifying performance as Zeus, the flawless Janet McTeer as Hera, Cliff Curtis as Middle-Aged Jaded Slutty Maori Fuckboy Poseidon, David Thewlis' exhausted, depressive turn as Hades... all of it is GOLD. It has instantly become one of my new favorite adaptations. Like all good adaptations, it captures the flavor, the vibes, the FEEL of the original works.
Here's some of my other faves!
Gods Behaving Badly, by Marie Phillips - a goofy, fun little romp about the past-it and aging Gods of Olympus living together in a shitty house in London. A comedy, but it very accurately captures the essence of the vain, fickle, and usually stupid Greek Gods.
Circe, by Madeline Miller - I mean, I hope to God everyone has already read this one, Jesus Christ. Told from the first-person perspective of the Goddess-witch Circe, this book is an amazing re-imagining of one of the most maligned and studied characters in the Odyssey.
Hades 1 & 2. by Supergiant Games - I could write several thousand words about how much I love these games, which both revolve around the challenges of an immortal family that you literally cannot get away from -- and the way cycles of violence perpetuate themselves, even if the people involved CAN'T DIE. The depths of the scholarship on display there are frankly staggering, and they go DEEP into the esoterica -- Zagreus teasing Orpheus that he and Dionysus are the same person (which they almost certainly are, don't get me started on Orphism) springs to mind. Hell, the second game's protagonist is literally Melinoe. Also, Scylla is a boss fight and is the lead singer of a bratty girl group and sings a diss track about how your hair is a disaster. What's not to love.
... I do wish they hadn't made Kronos the God of Time. That shit drives me nuts. The words are cognate but not--he was an agricultural--ANYWAY.
Kaos is intense as hell, but it's fucking GREAT. And literally every frame is filled with Gays and people with different bodies and body types and various flavors of gender fuckery. It's great. Watch it.

JM & JK are telling us they are TOGETHER. We just need to LISTEN!
I just re-watched episode 7 of the Disney documentary with Jimin and Jk at his home. Jimin while talking to JK, who is now off camera but across from him, says “I want to stay healthy as I grow old, together with my fans”. He has a sweet smile on his face while looking down.
I especially loved the part where Jimin says “together with my fans I want to be happy”. JK says “that’s right”. Then he looked at JK, pointed and said “I want to be happy and I wish the same for everyone else” with a shy smile on his face. Then his #1 fan, JK said “Let’s be Happy! Jimin is still shyly smiling.
That whole conversation was meant for JK and us. If people would only listen to what they tell us, what they have been telling us for years, they would know they are together. The other messages in the past year such as the Wlives, the multiple trips last year, the support of each other’s solo debut and the release of the PTD behind the scenes and now this Disney documentary. However, the ultimate message from them was their enlistment together.
I have never been invested in the success and happiness of someone’s relationship the way I am with Jk and JM. Post military and their comeback tour, I honestly believe they will choose to live their life together, quietly, but openly.

I've not been feeling well lately, and I've been alternating between watching old Disney movies and reading to take my mind off being sick.
Today in my reading, I re-read my favourite Warhammer 40k story, Voice of Experience, and I was inspired to draw some of my favourite scenes. Behold my silly scribbles of Gue'vesa'vres Kalice Arkady and Por'ui Kau'kartyr. Spoilers under the cut! :D
I love t'au so much
I subscribe to the "t'au have blue blood" side of the debate.
I also coincidentally subscribe to the "boy t'au have 'i' nose, girl t'au have 'y' nose" side of the debate, but the author of Voice of Experience has stated that Kartyr has a "y" nose despite being a boy. Who am I to disagree? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Badass buddy cop duo
I wish there was a whole series of novels about themmmm
#warhammer 40k#wh40k#t'au#t'au empire#art#my art#traditional art#fanart#unpolished art#I'm sick and should probably go to bed#but bed is so far away and sketchbook is right here...#Tempted to graphic-novelise the whole short story just as a treat for myself on bad days#but I could also work on my own original t'au comic for that so eh#if you haven't read Voice of Experience I recommend it!#It's one of my favourite warhammer stories#have a fabulous day y'all!! xoxo

One thing I felt like HoO really dropped on is the characterisation of the Argo II itself.
Where a lot of shows like Star Wars, Firefly, Doctor Who, and Star Trek really shine is where the ship itself becomes it’s own character.
I’m gonna use firefly as an example here, because I started re-watching it today, and this is something that’s a VERY key theme.
I think Joss Wheadon (the creator of the show) talked a lot about Serenity (the ship) actually being the “ninth cast member”. “Serenity” is the name of both the pilot episode and the follow-up movie, it’s name-dropped in the theme song, and the show is called firefly because it is a “Class-3 Firefly Spaceship”. And we as an audience really connect with the ship- despite the show being only fourteen episodes long (If I was only able to throttle 20th Century Fox… I answer to no god)- and I think the reason we do so is because every single character has their own personal connection with the vessel. Wash being the pilot (Also, if I remember it correctly, it being the place he met Zoë), Kaylee being the engineer, for Simon, it being a safe space to hide his sister from the totalitarian government trying to do experiments on her brain, and Mal and Zoë starting the ship together- Mal naming it “Serenity” after the battle of Serenity Valley which he fought in with Zoë (I could lore-dump about this show ‘til the gorram cows come home). And the whole premise of the show being about surviving with your rag-tag crew on this piece of shit that you love dearly, and just… keeping flying. Ugh, there’s something so magical in the writing that makes you adore the ship itself.
Other examples, like the Millennium Falcon, the TARDIS, and the USS Enterprise, are also good for this.
Now, onto how the Argo II itself:
The only person who really has a personal connection with the Argo II is Leo. The rest of the Seven just feel like they’re… on Leo’s boat. All the food is provided by the magic plates from Camp Half-Blood. Most of the piloting/engineering is done by Leo, and a little bit by Annabeth and sometimes Percy when they’re on the water. You never get the sense that any of the others really love the boat, or have any connection with it at all.
I think that’s the reason why the Seven never felt that close in my opinion. There was never a sense of community. Of people united by a common location.
I think, just love for a place in fiction is something really powerful to me. That’s where Harry Potter most thrived, not necessarily the plot, but wanting to be in the world, go to Hogwarts.
Camp Half-Blood had that charm and homeliness. So did the Waystation in TOA. Camp Jupiter didn’t for me, but I think that was kinda the point. But I never really got that from the Argo II, because of the way it was set up so that Leo was the only one who could really bond with it. And this is what makes Leo so compelling to me, is that he actually connects with his flying ship. I just feel like the Argo as its own character, similar to Serenity from firefly, could’ve been so good if it had been written right and was such wasted potential. It would’ve strengthened that bond between the Seven, and made that “familial” dynamic feel a lot more natural.
In conclusion? Everyone should go watch Firefly on Disney plus. It’s just fourteen, forty-five minute episodes, plus the movie. But man, is it worth it. You will cry at the deaths (why do all the good ones get impaled?). You will laugh at the jokes. You will probably say, “Wait- is that a young Zac Effron?” When a young Zac Effron has a cameo. You will wish you were as badass as River.
Idk, it’s 3:03am and this is basically a good idea of what the inside of my brain looks like most of the time. I’ve mentioned at least six obsessions of mine in this post.

Production stages of the Fan Comic of "The Wish Kingdom" !!!
(written by @annymation)
And as promised, here is the "schedule" I said I was putting together for the Comic fic production process.
In the end, this isn't really a "timeline", it's more like a list of what I'll do to build the comic. I want to make all the processes very clear and described to give you an idea of how it will be done and a small idea of how long it will take.
Remembering that I am a human being, not an AI to do things quickly, I have another life beyond networks and this project.
Besides the fact that none of us are being paid to do this comic (although I really wanted to, I'm not going to lie), all of this is being done on the basis of love, affection, positivity and adoration for the initial concepts dispensed by Disney, their classic films that really made that company grow and the main messages conveyed by Walt Disney while he was still alive: "If you can dream something, you can make it happen!" and "It's fun to do the impossible!"
So please be patient and kind to me and the entire team! I already love, adore and thank everyone willing to follow our project.
<3
Well… Let's get started!
1- Rereading and Separating the text:
Starting today (02/26/2024) I will be re-reading Anny's fanfic, separating all of her text into scenes, highlighting the following points:
Atmosphere
Characters (designs made by @uva124)
Speeches and facial expressions - the message
Thus defining "who says what, how and in which place?"
Since I will be doing the setting art myself, as the story progresses, I would really appreciate a little help. I'm guessing if you're reading this you've probably already read The Kingdom of Wishes and consequently imagined the scenarios! If you find any images online that remind you of the locations of the scenes in your mind, you can send them to me as a reference! I'm always open to references for drawings!
2- Make the "Thumbnails"
I don't know what term foreigners use to define the thumbnails that make up the first drafts of comics, but here in Brazil, we call them "Doll", in reference to the fact that the sketches are a "test doll" for the comic strip .
Anyway, I digress! It is at this stage that I define the composition of the scenes through sketches. This is where I define what appears or not in the scene, what the scene will be focused on, how I will guide the reader's eye by the meaning of reading the scene, where the lines, the characters, their movements and others will be located… It's a planning phase on how to portray the scenes; the most complex I would say.
3- Review
Here I take a break for two days or three days at most, to relax and forget about the project for a bit. I come back with new energy and review everything that was done, ask for opinions and suggestions from the team, in short, I give a great evaluation and improvement in everything!
4 - Finalization and Publication
In this last step, I transform the sketches into final artwork using graphite pencils, colored pencils and pens that I have available.
When they are all finished, I will publish the comics here and on all my social networks!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally....
I would like to say that yes, I will be posting spoilers for all these stages, watch them at your own risk!
Remembering that English is not my native language, so I really hope everything was understandable! But if you have any questions, you can send questions to me or any member of the team!
And if you want to know a little more about my arts, you can check out my Instagram!
Kisses full of light and stars!
Let's work!!

So, this happened....
A youtube channel by the name of DVDFilmBonus has put the entire bonus features of Wish on youtube which you can watch here (Wish 2023 ( Disney ) Making of & Behind the scenes + Deleted scenes (youtube.com)
The features include looks at character designs and how the history of Disney animation played into the production of the movie. It's worth a watch to understand the process the team went through to make the movie. Here are just some of my thoughts on what I watched.
What I would give to be a fly on the wall during early development. Lots of changes happening especially with Star and Amaya.
Call me crazy but I feel the team just could not decide on where to go with Star and Asha's relationship and that is one of the many reasons Star would be changed.
BOY HOWDY MORE ABANDONED CONCEPTS THAT I CAN RE USE IN MY SEQUEL SERIES (The hamlet being a village hiding their wishes from Magnifico and are considered traitors to the kingdom, oh the fun to be had with that :)
I really wish they went with the version of Magnifico that straight up ate other peoples Wishes, that there is pure evil and something a GOOD DISNEY VILLAIN WOULD DO!
YOU ARE TELLING ME THAT THE STAR BOY WAS THE FIRST CHOICE AND THEY JUST SAID no thank you.
I still will wait for Wish to hit Disney+ as I don't feel like spending the money especially now that most of the reason for doing so is available to me for free.

The Little Mermaid AU.
This was actually a rough draft of Heart’s Content which was a straightforward re-telling of the Disney film but I decided to scrap it and try for something more original. Still I wondered what you all would think of it, so I re-read and re-edited it to fit with the new cannon and well..Here it is.
In a kingdom located in Denmark, Prince Alastor prefers to spend his days sailing and exploring rather than at court, despite his advisor Husk insisting that he should focus more on honoring the wishes of his deceased parents by settling down with a nice young lady and starting a family. One day while sailing over seas he hears a beautiful voice singing from fathoms below and commands it to be followed. No one else can hear the voice though but one sailor suggests that what the prince heard may have been a mermaid, specifically Lucifer's daughter for it is said that no one on land or in the sea has a voice as lovely as hers. The sailors then proceed to tell Alastor about King Lucifer who rules over the ocean and the mer-people, and how there was a time long ago when mer-people could be seen rising to the surface but then suddenly, they stopped coming. That the sea king had forbidden them from ever rising to the shore again after he lost his queen. Alastor is intrigued by these stories but Husk just brushes them off as nautical nonsense.
Meanwhile, deep on the ocean floor in the merfolk kingdom, King Lucifer and his brothers and sister in-laws Baron Belphegor, Lady Seras, and Lord Stolas are celebrating the anniversary of their nation's founding by having each of their daughters sing in a concert for their people. The concert is conducted by Lucifer's advisor and court composer, the sea-imp Moxxie and Belphegor's daughter Bee, Seras's daughter Emily, and Stolas's daughter Octavia perform magnificently but Lucifer's daughter is not present for her solo bringing the concert to a halt and enraging Lucifer.
As it turns out, Lucifer's daughter Charlie had forgotten about the concert because she is a mermaid who dreams of life on the land and spends most of her time swimming around the surface, collecting human items that occasionally fall from ships, and trying to learn about the humans. Unfortunately her people do not care for the surface or humans, and often look down on her and mock her for her interests. Calling her “odd”. The only ones who support her are her friends Vaggie who doesn't quite understand her fascination but wants her to be happy, and Blitzo a land-imp who gives her information about the human objects she finds. Or rather information that he's concocted in his own head. As he's telling her that a fork she found is used for combing one's hair and that a pipe she found is used for music, she suddenly remembers the concert and hurries home.
Elsewhere, Adam the sea-wizard and his loyal follower Lute are plotting revenge against Lucifer for banishing them and transforming Adam from a handsome merman to a hideous cecaelia. When Adam notices how head-strong and rebellious Charlie is, like her late mother, he suspects that she may be the key to Lucifer's undoing and tells Lute to keep an eye on her.
When Charlie returns home her father reprimands her for missing the concert and going to the surface, reminding Charlie that humans killed her mother Lilith years ago. Charlie then protests that the humans who killed her were pirates and that she believes that not all humans were like them. However Lucifer is xenophobic toward humans, viewing them as nothing more than savages. He forbids Charlie from ever going to the surface again and she leaves distraught. Lucifer then assigns Moxxie to watch over Charlie and keep her out of trouble, much to the sea-imp's dismay.
Moxxie follows Charlie and Vaggie to a secret grotto where she keeps her collection of human objects. Vaggie comforts Charlie and asks why she's so interested in the surface world anyway. The sea princess then responds that she gets it from her mother and that Queen Lilith always believed that the humans and the merfolk could live together in harmony if they tried to understand each other, so she would visit the surface as often as she could and then tell her daughter about her adventures. Charlie also reveals that her father once supported her mother's dream and even had a special music box made for her to show his support but that was lost along with her mother's life. Charlie then confesses that she secretly wishes to live in the surface world and have her own adventures, and wonders if maybe the humans would be more accepting of her "odd" nature than the merfolk are.
Moxxie is horrified by this discovery and makes his presence known. Charlie quickly pleads with Moxxie not to tell Lucifer about her collection or her secret wish. Moxxie promises not to but tries to convince Charlie to forget her strange hobbies and focus more on music and her singing. The conversation is interrupted when Charlie sees a ship floating overhead and curiously, swims up to investigate. She swims closer to the ship and spies on the sailors aboard who are celebrating Alastor's birthday. She watches the young man play the flute and dance with his cat Kee Kee and the crew, further intriguing her. During the party, the prime minister Zestial tells the prince that he must find a bride and take up his father's crown, then tells him that he is planning to arrange a marriage for him and the duchess Verosicka. Alastor and Husk both protest, insisting that both his father and mother would have wanted him to marry for love. Zestial counter-argues that despite that, the prince doesn't have anyone to love. Alastor tells them that the woman he falls in love with will be someone who's different. Someone who's "odd". Hearing this, Charlie is instantly smitten.
A storm suddenly hits and when the crew cannot steer the ship to safety, Alastor risks his life to get everyone on board including Kee Kee over to the lifeboats, choosing to be the last one to get off. Just as it's his turn, lighting strikes and the ship breaks apart. Alastor is tossed overboard and knocked unconscious. Charlie saves him from drowning and drags him to the shore. The storm ends by morning and Charlie checks to see if Alastor is still alive. When she sees that he is, she sings to him. Alastor begins to stir and the two fall in love.
Alastor dazedly begs Charlie to stay but she is forced to leave when she hears Husk coming. However Charlie vows to find a way to be with him and Alastor vows to find the woman who saved him. All of which is witnessed by Lute and as Adam spies on them through her eyes, he boasts on how he can use these star-crossed lovers to his advantage and that the reason for his transformation and banishment was that years ago, he and Lilith had been arranged to marry but she fell in love with Lucifer, choosing to marry him instead. Out of jealousy and revenge, he arranged for Lucifer to be killed by pirates but Lilith pushed her husband out of the way, taking the killing blow for him. He then remarks that Lucifer’s lovely little princess would make a charming bride.
After Charlie returns home, her behavior makes her father and her cousins Bee, Emily, and Octavia suspect that she has fallen in love. Moxxie tries to convince her that the sea is where she belongs and points out all the wonders of it, but she only dismisses his words and swims off. On land, Alastor is pressured into a dinner with the duchess Verosicka but he quickly realizes that she’s a vain woman only wants to marry him to become queen and rejects her advances. This upsets Zestial who believes in marriage for convenience but Husk proposes a compromise, that they give Alastor some time to fall in love and find a woman to marry before betrothing him to the duchess. Alastor reluctantly accepts but reveals that he’s in love with the one who saved him and wants to marry her but the only clue he has to find her is her beautiful voice and eyes.
At first Lucifer is pleased with the idea that Charlie has found love and asks Moxxie who the lucky “merman” is? Unfortunately Moxxie accidentally reveals that Charlie saved a human and that he is the one she is in love with. Lucifer is furious and forces Moxxie to take him to Charlie's grotto. There Vaggie has surprised Charlie with a small, marble statue of the prince that she found on the ocean floor and the princess gleefully starts to talk about how she'll sneak away to the surface to visit the prince. But Lucifer appears at the grotto and is enraged by her plans. Charlie tries to explain but Lucifer refuses to listen and destroys her collection of artifacts in a misguided attempt to protect her. Charlie swims away to cry and Lucifer is left feeling guilty for his actions but convinced that it was for her own good.
Once alone, Lute approaches Charlie and tells her that Adam has great power which he uses to help others achieve their greatest desires, and that she was once a land creature who dreamed of life in the sea and Adam made that dream real. Charlie knows nothing of Adam or of his past with her parents, and she's so devastated by her father's actions and feels so alone in her own world, that she agrees to go see him. Moxxie and Vaggie spot Charlie with Lute and follow them to Adam's lair. When Moxxie realizes who Charlie is about to meet, he rushes to warn her but Lute silences him and Vaggie.
Adam tells Charlie that the only way to be with Alastor is to become human and he offers to turn her into one for a month and if she can win Alastor's love and receive a true love's kiss from him before the sun sets on the final day, she will remain human forever. But if he doesn't then she'll turn back into a mermaid and be Adam's prisoner. He also demands that Charlie give him her voice as payment for the potion. At first Charlie is hesitate to accept, unsure if she can leave her father, family, and friends forever or give up her voice as it is her last connection to her mother. But Adam manipulates her by saying that she never really belonged in the sea to begin with and no one down below will ever truly accept her. And he convinces her that giving up her voice will be no great loss because she'll be the most beautiful human woman anyone has ever seen and that she will dance more gracefully than any other. In the end Charlie accepts the deal, Adam then takes her voice and locks it away in a nautilus shell, and gives her a potion that turns her tail into legs. Vaggie and Moxxie quickly get her to the surface before she can drown.
They meet Blitzo by the shore and Charlie is thrilled at finally becoming a human while Moxxie is mortified and almost goes to tell Lucifer what happened. But Vaggie and a now silent Charlie persuade him to instead help them as this is the only chance Charlie has at being truly happy. Blitzo finds some discarded rags and cloth to cover Charlie’s body with, just as she’s found on the beach by Alastor. He doesn’t think she’s the one who saved him due to her no longer having a voice but something about her beautiful eyes draw him to her so he decides to take her to the palace, inviting her to stay as his guest.
Inside, Rosie the headmistress of staff and Niffty the maid, take care of Charlie and see that she is treated like royalty. Giving her a suite and baths, dressing her in gowns of silk and muslin, weaving pearls into her hair, all the while Charlie is fascinated by the new world around her. In the evening, a banquet and ball is held in hopes that Alastor will choose a bride but none of the young ladies attending interest him.
When Charlie enters the room, Alastor is astonished by her beauty and invites her to sit with him and Husk at the banquet table. Charlie attempts to impress him by brushing her hair with a fork and blowing Husk’s pipe like it’s an instrument. All the guests laugh at her but Alastor finds her “odd” behavior charming and smiles at her.
Moxxie and Blitzo sneak into the palace to keep an eye on Charlie but the royal Chef Pentious mistakes them for being crabs and tries to cook them for dinner. They retaliate, leading to a brawl that disrupts the meal but luckily Blitzo escapes out the window while Charlie hides Moxxie in her room. After dinner Alastor teaches Charlie to dance and despite her clumsiness, she still moves with grace and charms him even further with her eloquent eyes. As Husk, Rosie, and Niffty watch them dance, they are pleased to see the prince so happy and suspect that love is in the air.
The next day, Alastor takes Charlie on a tour of the kingdom, going to shops and stands, introducing her to his neighbors and good friends, and he is further impressed with how she responds to everything with such an innocent and playful fascination. They end the day with a picnic on the beach which Charlie enjoys but as she watches the tide, she starts to become homesick and dips her feet in the water. Alastor notices that she's sad and understands that she misses her family. He comforts her and opens up to her about how he lost his parents and misses them. To cheer her up, he gives her a present, one of the many artifacts that his father brought back from his days as an explorer and to Charlie's wonder and joy, the gift is her mother's music box. She embraces him and they almost kiss but Alastor backs out, still longing for the "one" who saved him.
As Adam continues to spy on Charlie, he starts to become anxious. He tells Lute that he gave Charlie a month to win Alastor's heart because he knows that the prince is expected to marry another woman by the month's end and is sure that humans never break an arranged marriage. Still, he sends Lute upward to make absolutely certain that the kiss doesn't happen.
As the weeks pass, Alastor and Charlie grow closer. They go horseback riding, they climb mountain tops, he takes her sailing, and she listens to him whenever he talks about how he doesn't want to be king and that he's not sure he will be as good at running a kingdom as his parents were. Not one day goes by where they are not together yet Alastor still does not even make an attempt to kiss her. But while she spends her days with Alastor, Charlie spends her nights dipping her feet in the ocean and visiting with Vaggie who misses her terribly but is glad that she's happy. One night as Charlie comes back from the beach, she over hears Zestial and Husk arguing about Alastor's betrothal to Verosicka and she fears that he may love another. Rosie and Niffty figure this out and comfort Charlie, assuring her that Alastor does not like Verosicka at all and that they truly believe that if he ever married anyone, it'll be her. Meanwhile, Lucifer and his family have been searching the entire ocean for Charlie and Moxxie the remorseful sea king breaks down to his brother in-law Stolas about how he knows Charlie and Moxxie's disappearances are his fault and that he failed them and Lilith. Stolas however assures him that Charlie and Moxxie will be found and that his sister knows how much he loves and tries. Still Lucifer cannot help but constantly say "What have I done? What have I done?"
On the day before the last day of the month, Alastor takes Charlie on a romantic boat ride in a lagoon. A secret spot where his father used to take his mother and he tells her how his father met his mother while exploring the middle east and how different she was from all the other woman he had met before. That she was "odd" just like how his father was "odd" and they fell so much in love that no matter what they faced, no matter what stood in their way, they would always find each other. He then confesses that he wants a love like that and that is why he cannot consent to an arranged marriage. He also confesses that he considers himself "odd" and that he thinks Charlie is wonderful because she's "odd" too. Moxxie takes advantage of the moment by working with Bltizo to create a romantic atmosphere and again they almost kiss, but Lute ruins the moment by tipping the boat over.
Furious at Charlie's close success, Adam decides to take matters into his own tentacles but going up to the surface and appears to a jealous Verosicka, who is sulking over the fact that the prince would prefer a “little mute" over herself. Adam offers Versoicka a solution and gives her specific instructions to follow. That night, Husk suggests to Alastor that "Far better than any dream girl is one of flesh and blood, one warm and caring, and right before your eyes." Alastor takes this advice to heart and realizes that he's fallen in love with Charlie. He decides to forget his dream girl and marry Charlie instead but before he can tell her how he feels, he is approached by Versoicka who is now wearing the nautilus shell containing Charlie's voice around her neck. She uses the voice to bewitch Alastor to forget all about Charlie and marry the "one with the voice."
The next morning Charlie learns that Alastor has decided to marry Verosicka today, much to the joy of Zestial and the confusion of Husk, Rosie, and Niffty. Charlie tries to get Alastor's attention but Versoicka does everything in her power to keep him from seeing her, and when the staff questions him about Charlie, he claims not know such a woman. Heartbroken, Charlie runs off in tears, sobbing by the shore as the wedding ship departs. But Blitzo suspects that something is up and decides to do a little snooping. He spies on Verosicka and sees her conversing with Adam through a mirror, in which they reveal that they've been using Charlie's voice to keep Alastor in a trance and that Verosicka must not let Alastor see his true love or the spell may weaken. Blitzo quickly warns his friends and they devise a plan, Vaggie will take Charlie to the wedding ship, Moxxie will get Lucifer, and Blitzo will stall the wedding.
Blitzo enlists sea animals and Kee Kee to help him and together they disrupt the wedding and attack Verosicka. Vaggie and Charlie get closer to the ship but Lute turns herself into a shark and attacks them. Vaggie fights her, giving Charlie a chance to climb aboard. Alastor finally sees her, bedraggled and on the verge of collapsing, he starts to remember her and rushes to embrace her. Veroscika attempts to strengthen the spell over him but Blitzo rips the nautilus shell from her neck and breaks it at Charlie's feet. Charlie's voice is restored to her and Alastor realizes that she's the one. Tragically, just before their lips can touch, the sunsets and Charlie turns back into a mermaid. It's too late and Adam takes Charlie away, but Alastor is determined not to lose her again.
Lucifer confronts Adam and agrees to take his daughter's place and give him his trident, in exchange for her freedom. Adam agrees, he claims the trident for himself and turns Lucifer into a sea worm to Moxxie's and Charlie's horror. Charlie attempts to take the trident back to save her father but Adam restrains her. Alastor, having found them, shoots a harpoon at Adam to defend her and Lute responds by trying to drown him. Vaggie and Moxxie defend him and Adam attempts to kill all three of them with the trident but Charlie intervenes, causing the blast to hit and kill Lute instead.
Alastor and Charlie reunite at the surface and she urges him to get away for his safety but he refuses to leave her. The couple is suddenly pursued by an enraged Adam who controls the waters to bring them to him. He takes Charlie hostage and starts trying to drown Alastor, all the while taunting him about how once he's dead, he'll takeover not only Charlie's kingdom but Alastor's as well, enslaving both of their people, and pushing the final button by declaring that he'll make Charlie his replacement bride for Lilith. Furious, Alastor reaches for the harpoon he threw earlier and stabs Adam in the chest. In pain, he drops both them and the trident, and the couple use the trident to destroy Adam.
Afterward, Alastor and Charlie swim to the shore where he proclaims his love for her and they share true love's kiss. But then Charlie tells him that although she loves him too, they belong in different worlds and that they can never be together. Alastor pleads with her not to leave him, that they can surely find a way but she tearfully insists that there is no such way. She returns to the sea and is overjoyed to see her father restored to his true form, they embrace, and both apologize for the mistakes they've made. Charlie agrees to go home but asks to have one last look at Alastor first and Lucifer consents. Seeing the way Charlie looks at Alastor and the way he looked at her, reminds Lucifer of how he used to look at Lilith and recalls that Alastor had risked his life to save his daughter just as Lilith had given her life for her husband. Realizing that he was wrong and that he wants Charlie to be happy, Lucifer decides to change Charlie into a human for good, she runs into Alastor's arms, they kiss, and at some point marry, finally uniting humans and merfolk just as Lilith always wanted.

It is 7:30 pm, 14th April, 2024.
As I sit at my table with my books infront of me, I wish to go back, to 2013.
When time ran a bit slower. When my mama used to wake me up and carry me to the bathroom to brush my teeth when I was sleepy. When my baba would pick me up and walk to school in the morning. When mama would often be a little late to pick me up from school due to my infant sister. When I'd start crying if she got too late out of worry. When she'd finally come and laugh before hugging me tightly. When I'd get home and turn on the TV. When there were no smartphones and we used to spend our time watching Doraemon. When my mama would sit beside me on the floor in the evening with my sister in her lap, as she helps me with my homework. When the lights were a little dimmer at our little home. When I'd wait for the thrum of Baba's bike from the balcony. When baba's knock meant no more homework, when I'd run downstairs to open the door. When baba's knock meant a new chance of him having brought something for me everyday. When Baba's knock meant there will be news on TV and I'd finally get to play with my sister as my mom prepares dinner. When 8 pm meant mama's time on TV serials, which all of us would watch, despite baba's insistence that they're stupid. When we would have dinner together sitting on the cool floor and then sleep together on the same bed.
I want to go back.
Now mama still wakes me up, but I can't climb on her lap, cuz I'm taller than her. Now baba takes me to school, but I can no longer climb on his shoulders, it'd hurt his back. Now I come back home alone, nobody picks me up. I don't cry anymore, I'm responsible for myself. Now I get home and turn on my phone, nobody watches TV anymore. Mama doesn't help me with homework anymore, she hasn't touched my books since 2 years. I don't get out of my room when baba knocks anymore. It doesn't mean study time is over anymore, I study all day. It doesn't mean there's news on TV, it stays quiet in the living room. My sister and I don't play together anymore, I have my friends and she has hers. Mama still prepares dinner, but it's much quieter now. We still eat together, but not on the floor. Nobody talks during dinner. Now we don't sleep together, I sleep alone in my room.
I can see my parents aging, I can see the grey hair on their heads, I can see they get tired faster now, I can see I'm getting stonger and more able bodied than them as time passes. I can see the rooms are brighter now. I can see the house is quieter now. I can see my sister is no longer an infant, I can see her growing into a teenager. I can see my parents don't have the same energy they had while I was her age. I can see them give up easier and let her do whatever she feels like.
But sometimes.
Sometimes I find old photos, we all look at them and my parents laugh. I see the memories shining beneath their eyes. Sometimes my mama still wakes me up, and tries to pick me up, which ends up in me picking her up instead. Sometimes my mom says she'll come to school to pick me up, my heart leaps at the thought and I agree instantly. Sometimes we come home and my sister turns on Disney channel and we re-watch Doraemon episodes together while having lunch. Sometimes when baba comes home, I get up and open the door, sometimes he turns on the news to listen to those horrendous debates. I don't mind them anymore. Mama doesn't watch serials anymore, but she does watch some movies. Baba doesn't complain anymore. Sometimes I go and hug my sister instead of being on my phone in my free time, sometimes she kisses me on my cheeks again. Sometimes I go annoy mama in the kitchen as she makes dinner. Sometimes I turn off the lights to make the home just a little dimmer. Sometimes we all still sit around the heater in winters as we have our dinner. Sometimes we turn on Discovery channel and get fascinated and disgusted simultaneously with Baba.
Sometimes, it feels like I'm back to 2013 again.

“Frozen 3's story will be amazing”
In an exclusive interview with The Direct, Frozen/ 2 yesterday, Dec 26 2023, producer Peter De Vecho has told us that the story that they're working on is going to be ”amazing”.
Peter has said:
“Look, we only do sequels if we believe there's enough story to tell. They're working on it, up in development, I'm focused on 'Wish'. But it is exciting what they're working on. I will say anything that you read about it in the public, we haven't said anything about it. So it's all conjecture, but I trust that it's going to be amazing."
Let's breakdown what all this means:
Given Peter De Vecho said he's currently working on Wish, I believe this interview was taken before Wish aired in Cinemas or during its production. So now that Wish is in Cinemas, Peter should be focused on Frozen 3.
This time instead of Jennifer Lee giving the subtle updates on Frozen 3 (and 4), now we have Peter De Vecho joining in, confirming his return as the producer of the films. So slowly as the production of Frozen 3 develops more people from the crew and cast will be giving us more updates on the film.
But as far as the reason for making Frozen 3 and 4 goes, and people saying it's just to make money, I don't believe that's the only reason. Yes I believe they are making money but that's what films do - make money. And with how Disney films are going now, not doing so well, they have to do all they can to climb back up and give us the Disney we know and love. But they are also making more movies for the story. I can't say this for other franchises but with Frozen's history, I believe it's for the story too. Frozen 2 was made because after Frozen we all were theorising and begging to know how Elsa got her powers in the first place learning that she was born with them. Frozen 2 gave us that answer and expanded the background of that a little more including more magical/ mythical beings. Yes I know it's a controversial movie mostly for its ending of the sisters separation. But after a few re-watches and reads of posts I understand the need for it then. But I still want the sisters to reunite permanently this time as do many, so perhaps the story finds a way of doing this. But we also wonder what this fifth spirit role means, what other things can Elsa do now, how Anna handles life as queen, etc.
Jennifer Lee has also said recently that Elsa won't have a LGBT love interest because she's not focusing too much on what the fans want but rather more on what the story tells, what is needed for Elsa, for the characters right now in this new situation they've been put under. And because the story being developed is big, it's going to split into two parts. So yeah it's for the story too.
So about Frozen 3, we have heard it's going to be mind blowing, “big” and “epic” from Jennifer Lee and “exciting” and “amazing” from Peter De Vecho. I don't think the first two movies have been hyped about as much as Frozen 3 has been so far. The best thing is we don't know what to expect. We don't know anything and nothing has been confirmed yet so anything can happen. Most of the two part movies have been doing well so yes I do have hope for Frozen 3 and 4.
Frozen 3 is expected to release in November 2025 if it follows the same year gap and released dates as the previous.

RE: the Anon about bad Greek representation in the game Hades 2
Hello, I answered your ask last night however I was soon notified that the link you added came from a YouTuber who, apart from the incidental valid points made in this particular video, has altogether different motives and beliefs than the ones I wish this blog to be associated with. So I deleted the ask with the link but I am giving you my original answer regarding problematic Greek representation intact. Besides, this video does not analyze why such representation in the context of Greek mythology and identity is questionable but rather disregards diversity in media just for the sake of it. So any person interested in Greek matters won’t learn much from watching it.
Like I said the basis of his points in this video makes sense. However, I don't know, I feel like all this discourse regarding the poor, agenda driven Greek representation and the appropriation of the mythology drains me and for no good reason.
Unfortunately, I have realised that the people who support such questionable treatment of the Greek cultural heritage among other things, supposedly for the sake of the greater good of inclusivity and diversity, are absolutely not open to feedback and other opinions and appear unable to entertain the possibility that they have chosen toxic, problematic and - above all - counterproductive ways to support those very important values. The same exact thing is happening with companies - say Netflix and Disney - which are left scratching their heads about what is going wrong and all their new projects are bombing so bad. It is funny how so many people around the world consider the answer obvious but the companies are still having crisis meetings to solve the impossible challenge.
There are several reasons I do not bother much with it. First of all, all this discourse and the urgency for a diverse Dodecatheon is an exclusively American concern through and through. People from Africa, Asia and South America resolutely couldn't care less and I have read in several comments that many people feel weird about how North Americans and a few West Europeans act regarding those matters. I feel disconnected from all these people both in terms of age and interests and as a Greek I also feel entirely disconnected from all these "Greek inspired" products. We all know very well that there's nothing Greek about the Hades videogame, the LO comic, Percy Jackson, Kratos and so on. Literally nothing whatsoever.
The most annoying thing about it is that these people genuinely think they "know" Greek culture. But honestly I think at some point soon they will grow out of it. Most of them are really young and act young about it, you know? At some point the companies also will either shut down or change tactics and content. Because the "piss on" trend of course doesn't affect only the Greek culture but many other fields, i.e European history, classic literature, traditional fairytales, Norse mythology etc
Because this world operates so much on money, simply not giving something your money is your most effective way to voice your opinion. Don't pay for that movie or that game or that book. And maybe leave a review phrased in the manner of constructive criticism, not an aggressive attack, because this leaves you vulnerable in front of these ahistorical people who call every mere different perspective as "fascism" (the irony XD).
I am always far more alarmed by actual historical revisionism, especially the one that is happening around us, in places next to us, waaaay more than I care about a random teen in the other side of the globe who wants an Asian Hestia girlboss or else they can't sleep easy at night. You have to realise that such a person doesn't truly think this is how a Greek is supposed to or usually looks like. Such a person actually doesn't give a shit about the Greek look or anything Greek at all. All they care is what the videogame they play looks like and how much the designers agree with them or include features they have. The fact that the character comes from Greece is entirely irrelevant and incidental. They do not care. So I now feel it's a lost cause to even try to discuss this with them. Judging from comments I have read, they downright don't understand and they are visibly unwilling to understand what we say.
And I am always way more irritated by the double standards with which the Greek civilization is studied , the very real discriminations against Modern Greeks, the toxic levels of academic classicism, the historical appropriation in the West and in the Balkans for different reasons and above all else the amazing inability of our nation to care, address the problem and at least attempt to protect our identity with dignity and confidence. Compared to these, all the whims of fanfiction readers and videogame players just pale to me. I do react some times but it's not a regular thing.

Ok I can't find the post to re log, cos Tumblr search.
But.
Richard O'Brien is not transphobic and y'all need to fucking put some respect on his name.
I'm tired of queers who will cheerfully watch Disney movies and happily excuse watching media by people who hate trans people and actively donate to political groups that want to kill us talk shit about Rocky Horror because of an interview in 2013 they haven't actually read.
Richard O'Brien doesn't believe in the idea of binary gender. He doesn't believe that you can be a man or a woman and thinks that almost everyone is some blend on a spectrum between these platonic ideals.
He's also, let's be clear on this, over 80.
I wish my grandparents had anywhere near as nuanced a view on gender as he has.
It's not 'oooh this man hates trans women', it's bitch this enby uses different vocabulary to express his opinion on gender and understanding of the world and how he thinks people relate to gender.
If you find queer history embarrassing, and don't like how some of the earliest movies to fucking celebrate queerness are tacky and in your face and reject 'good taste' say it. Coward.

Hello!
What is your opinion about the animations Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time?
Would you like live-action versions inspired by these animations with actors Lily James and Richard Madden?
@reescrever-as-estrelas I am so sorry for the late answer, I thought this ask got deleted when I lost connection trying to post it, but I just found it safe in my drafts! I saw Twist more often than Dreams, so my opinion might be stale! But I liked both movies when I was younger. Then when I re-watched them, I liked them even more.
After seeing movies like Ever After my knee-jerk reaction to seeing a "Cinderella" character that does covert rebellious acts and works to do things her own way is to get indignant. Because Cinderella doesn't do that. Other characters can do that. But Cinderella obeys her stepmother's wishes and works to make things pleasant for others, even when they're cruel. She doesn't hit back. She doesn't disobey. That's not her.
So when she's doing things her own way instead of The King's (Prunella's) way, or creeping around the castle trying to fight back against the stepmother in Twist, I'd usually be like "no, that's the thing, she's kind and does what would make others happy!"
But see. That's only Cinderella before she marries the Prince. Once she's his wife, she becomes the head woman of that household. Then all of the loving, kind, gentle, caring virtue she always had is meant to turn that household (it just so happens to be a palace and a kingdom, now) into a place of welcome and comfort.
Also, she becomes responsible for the Prince's heart, and the King's, now that he's family too, and living in her home. So the Stepmother and Prunella can't just waltz in and make life harder l, or simply not-as-good-as-it-could be, same-old-same-old, for the men Cinderella's loving. Cinderella is now responsible for them just as much as she felt responsible for the mice, and keeping them safe from Lucifer in her own kind, peace-making way.
It's very in line with her character, once she's part of that family and has the role of "wife" and "Princess," to take those new responsibilities and act accordingly—she's still the kind of girl who tries to make things better for everyone, even her enemies or rivals.l
That's what I love about the Anastasia storyline (which everyone loves, I'm not alone in that.) Cinderella is always kind to Anastasia. She is the only person who sees the good in Anastasia, because she's the kind of girl who's already looking for "her good points." Like she tells Bruno to do about Lucifer in the original. That's the thing I think people don't get about the Disney Cinderella—she doesn't just dream of a happy life where everything is beautiful. She dreams of the best version of the people around her.
Anyway, back to your question! I think a Live Action with either of these plots would work, but personally, I wouldn't want to see Twist made Live action. I don't think Disney would keep Cinderella's kindhearted, selfless character intact if they're given any kind of chance to make her an "action" hero, and having Cinderella sneak around the castle trying to get a wand, confronting her Stepmother, and wrestling her way out of a demonic pumpkin is a little too much chance. But I'd love to see Kit jump out the window.
If I ever got the chance to write a sequel to Cinderella 2015, I would go in a totally different direction. The movie said the stepmother and stepsisters left the Little Kingdom and never stepped foot in it again. But I'd have them go to Zaragosa with the banished Grand Duke (that's the slightly sinister kingdom that wanted Kit to marry their Princess in the first movie.) Then I'd have them try to bring trouble to the Little Kingdom from there.
And I'd probably just put Ella under more strain to do the right thing and be kind to her stepfamily, even now that she's a Princess. And I'd make it harder for Kit to be courageous.
I'd do that by doing two very risky kind of things. The first thing is, I'd have Ella lose her first child during pregnancy, like Anne of Green Gables does. And I know that's a very heavy topic. But I think I would hint that it's because of how half-starved (remember when the servant girl said "you don't look well miss. Not well at all. Why do you stay there when they treat you so?") and poorly treated she was, and how her health had been taking a hit, right before getting pregnant, before she got out of Lady Tremaine's reach. Then, Ella is forced to realize that her stepfamily kind of indirectly were responsible for this new heartache, when she expected everything to be happily-ever-after.
Then I would put Ella in danger from something else. Either her health continues to be poor, or (and I like this better) she goes to Zaragossa under false diplomatic pretenses and gets trapped there by the stepmother. Because after the scare with the miscarriage, plus being in danger, then Kit, the newly married King, would struggle to figure out how to do the right and courageous thing without acting out of fear for his wife's sake. Meanwhile she's trying to figure out how to be kind now that her stepfamily's making trouble for her again, and their harsh treatment caused her to lose a child.
That sort of ups the anti, and the challenge to "have courage and be kind." Because I think one of the kindest and most courageous things you can do is forgive, and not take revenge. And we know Ella said "I forgive you," to Lady Tremaine, but it's very hard to live out forgiveness when you wind up seeing the person again, or they won't quit making a nuisance of themselves.
And then I'd end it VERY happily, where Anastasia and Drisella (at least) get a sort of happy ending of their own, and Ella's skill as a nurturing Queen would come into its climax, and she and Kit would be EVEN kinder and EVEN more courageous in the face of EVEN worse circumstances.
That's what I would do. But I don't know, maybe that's all too dark for the fairy-tale-Pride-&-Prejudice vibes the first movie had.

So here's my thing
Dreamworks has created nothing but absolute BANGERS lately. Movies like "the bad guys" "puss in boots and the last wish" and "trolls band together" ("Teenage Kraken" fell a little short for me during the second half of the movie but the beginning was great) They have a history of making absolute banger sequels, trilogies and movies in general like the previous Kung Fu Panda movies, How to Train Your Dragon, Trolls, and others I'm not thinking of off the top of my head.
Honestly I reacted to Kung Fu Panda three going "really? another one?" and Trolls 2 and 3 going "really? another one?" but Kung Fu Panda 3 ended up being i think my favourite of the trilogy at the time (i havent watched em in a while so this may have changed) and I haven't stopped thinking about Trolls 3 since I watched it. I can't say I think this fourth kung fu panda will be awesome, I can't say it'll be even half as good as some of the stuff Dreamworks has been putting out--not every single one of their movies is gonna be an absolute winner--but I know they seem to respect their movies and treat their sequels with just as much creativity and fun as they do the previous movies.
Honestly I haven't seen anything for music wise, but I also think its okay to give a character a theme and let them keep it to show they've retained that part of their development. Heck, httyd had one of the most iconic scores of all time and that is in all three movies. It's part of the storytelling.
Dreamworks isn't Disney. They aren't going to do what disney has been doing. so you can bet i ain't gonna be bashing them like I would probably be bashing disney. Re-using old villian's powers is a great way to bring in cameos of old villians, like, bRO I BEEN WANTING TO CATCH A GLIMPSE OF TAI LUNG AGAIN FOR Y E A R S. I honestly was a little disappointment we didn't see him in the third movie what with the spirit realm being in it and all. So even if he's only in there for a minute, I think its really cool to see him again.
Point is, dreamworks hasn't done antyhing to make me assume its gonna suck. it looks like a kung fu panda movie and i'm probably gonna enjoy it like a kung fu panda movie whenever i get around to watching it
#knox rambles#asks#anon#i will say there has been sequal exhaustion for years#so i can understand the instant bashing thats gonna happen#but i dunno dreamworks does good they have fun with their stories even if its a third or fourth movie#so i think itll be alright#im not like chomping at the bit excited for it but i aint mad
