i HATE and hold utter DISDAIN
for those "if [film] was shot vertically"
FUN FACT
a lot of directors rlly carefully choose [and even change/manipulate] the aspect ratios, etc because it ADDS TO THE CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE AND HELPS TO IMMERSE U
fucking hell i know it sounds pretentious as fuck but those videos have ALWAYS ruined the shots theyre using as well
it detracts from the scene. it wasnt made to be vertical, hence why it looks WRONG. the shot is too long, the elongation warps our perspective of an otherwise calm or even happg scene to make it frankly unsettling

people who go through the main tags of big and tumultuous fandoms looking for new fresh good posts to reblog are essential to any circle. they’re like true hunter gatherers leaving the safety of settlement and braving the unknown wilderness to find food for the flock. they risk their lives every day and will come back with a few scratches at best and severe psychological damage at worst

Kidnapped Persephone Style
Me: *tossing prompt idea up and down in the air before chucking it into the Void we call the internet*
Jason is dating Ghost Prince (not yet King) Danny and goes on a really awesome and romantic date on his day off. He forgot to tell the fam though. So when Red Robin comes to give Jason an update on some entil, he watches in muted horror as Jason is 'kidnapped' by a glowing entity in black armor and a nightmare looking horse (Danny is a bit busy doing paperwork, so he had his Fright Knight pick Jason up) off of a Gotham rooftop and into a green portal, while the knight had proclaimed Jason as their future Kings 'intended'..
No one on coms is ready for Tim to yell out
"I THINK JASON JUST GOT KIDNAPPED PERSEPHONE STYLE!!"

On autonomy, and what it means to be Obliged to Help.

Okay, not the same situation, but.
When I was younger I was a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes (Books, affectionate) and Sherlock (BBC, derogatory), among simiar things. And, because of this, I was very much on the track of studying forensics and looking at local cold cases as a hobby.
This ended very quickly after I realized I Did Not Want To Be A Fucking Cop, but anyway.
Side note that applies mostly to the American states but probably applies elsewhere: your state law enforcement most likely has a website for logging and profiling their cold cases that's entirely avaliable to the public. The whole point is that there's no more information to be gleamed from an active investigation, so they put the information out there to shotgun possibilities of finding someone who might Know Something.
(Or in this case, putting it in the hands of a seventeen(?) Year old with a chalkboard, internet access, and a fixation.)
Anyway.
I did this for a while. It was a very useful way of figuring out how I don't want to die, because the thing with cold cases is that they're cold for a reason. "Interesting cases" (which is a fucking insult to say when you're dealing with murder, honestly.) don't... exist. Not like they do on TV. Not like they do in "True Crime©️." Majority of the time it's a sad situation involving actual people in positions not too different from the regular who met some kind of random and sudden incident that, in the long run, didn't cost anyone enough money to be worth spending too many resources on. Guns shoot like guns. Knives are sharp. And police ineptitude, apathy, and bias is invaluable in making sure a horrible situation goes unnoticed.
Anyway.
My parents... knew of this hobby. My mom, who is the reason I'm like this, was more than supportive, and one day shoots me a link to a news article about a murder. I open it.
"Mom." I text her. "This happened yesterday."
"Do you think you could figure it out?"
"No, probably not. It happened yesterday."
"I think you could."
"Mom, someone died. Like... yesterday. Even if I had access to the information, don't you think that would be a little disrespectful?" I don't think I sent that last one. But it's what I was thinking.
But eventually I found myself stuck in a situation where I had nothing better to do but look at my phone for a good few hours. I see the link. I open it. I read the article, there was a murder, very sudden, very gruesome, done in the same poorer part of town I lived in. I find the victim's name.
"Oh no." I think. "They're already giving a name." Becuase when a name is the first thing you see in a case, that means no one was caught and the investigation is on-going. It was exactly the sort of case that would get cold as quickly as quick as ice water and salt if something isn't found soon.
A name is a hope that someone out there Knows Something.
Anyway.
I end up searching the lady up. Becuase when you don't have access to police incident reports you will always have access to social media, and that's a scary, powerful tool if you know how to use it. I end up learning about where she lived - that she didn't live in the residential area she was found in - that the person's lawn she was in wasn't her neighbor's. I learn that she wasn't in a public relationship but had a shaky network of people in town. I learned that her network might not have included the nicest people. I learned who some of those people were, and recognized a name or two from other cold cases in the area, even if just tangentially. I learned that ultimately she was young, and known, and human. And it was a fucking shame that she died.
There was this picture in my head of what happened made up of witness reports, social media posts, and speculation. But all of it was just that, speculation. I knew it at the time.
I ended up finding people on her friend's list. There's this guy on there. I'm going to say Jackson (becuase if you felt you knew the case I was I talking about, that's close enough to the right name to confirm or deny it for you), who was friends with her on Facebook. He had said some nasty fucking things on her page and they didn't seem close enough for him to be as present as he was, so I looked at his page too. Becuase you can always trust the right people never to set their pages to private.
If this were a story, he would be pretty regular. Since it was real life, he was a hell of a character.
Everything about his page and the information I dug up on him with what little bits of nothing I had about his life and their relationship made me so immediately suspect. He had connections to her, to her network, to names I had already seen and places involved in the murder itself. But even that far in I knew that this was a cooling case and being who we were in the town we were in, it could've very well been something sudden, and random, and sad, and that people aren't narratives, so they don't follow the same rules, and no matter how many connections I had I sure as hell didn't have enough information to prove anything.
I text my mom.
"If it was anyone she knew, I would look into this guy. He's on the top of my list." In response to the article she'd sent me that morning, I sent her a profile and a picture of someone only speculatively related. "But like I said, there's not enough information. This is all I can guess."
And then I forgot about it for... two days? Three?
Until my mom texts me again.
"Hey -" She didn't usually send fragments. "I think you'll be interested in this." Followed directly by another link to another article and a picture. One that I had to double take on because I had just sent her what looked like the same exact thing. Someone had been arrested, about four days after the murder, and it was someone who's face I had come to know very well. Same upside-down cross tattoos across the cheeks, same nose, same glare, same guy. "You could've saved them a couple of days!" She sent a laughing emoji.
It wasn't an accidental solve, and it wasn't anything related to an ARG, but it's still something that sticks in my head.
Because yeah, I guess I could've save the investigation a few days. But how the hell would I have explained that to the tip line?
Okay but just like imagine you were having fun solving an ARG and you post your findings. Only to find out a few days later that it wasn't an ARG at all and you just accidentally solved an actual missing persons case that had gone cold months ago. Just imagine that
Ingo's reflection shows up in a train window for a split second and someone digs up a missing poster (emmet made) .everybody in the arg subreddit is theorizing on what the 'story' is until someone's like hey actually. apparently this is a real poster made for a missing persons report

I know I know “all of Sleep Token’s love songs are actually about toxic and unyielding relationships and the damage of yearning and should not be the goal” yes I KNOW
But try telling me “and no matter the cost of rain, I will shelter you all the same” on its own is not a beautiful line
I *KNOW* the context yes! But “darling I’m noticing your flaws, they’re exactly what I want.”
I am AWARE of the underlying themes but “you guide me in to safety and silence” and of course my beloved “let the tides carry you back to me”
Those brief moments of love in a single lyric amidst all the bullshit. That’s what keeps me up at night

Anther DPxDC idea (it can be either turn into future Dead on Main or Anger Management, I'm not picky)
With Toddler!Damian~
So
When Jason was being 'trained' by the LOA in a fit of Pit Madness he somehow manged to stumble upon a toddler Damian in the base when he fought his current 'teacher' and fell into Damian's own training room at the time he was training.
Jason, even in a Pit Rage episode and not yet fully 'trained' out of his Robin teaching and his own (deeply buried) morals of protecting children, see's a toddler being trained with a legit sword and see's some of the wounds and cuts the kid has on himself from the training. He does not take it well and in a fit, fights the other teacher and gathers Damian into his arms.
This leads to Jason, in half coherent and half Pit Madness, to try to escape with Damian in his arms and get the heck out of the League with assassins at his heels.
However the fight eventually ends up with them near the Pits itself and in a single wrong move the two fall in.
The two do not resurface.
-x-x-
It was a normal day in Amity Park.
As normal as Amity Park could be to be honest.
When one of the Fenton siblings came down to clean the lab for the day when the protal suddenly flared up and for the lack of better words spat out a teen around their age and a toddler.
Both passed out on the lab floor.

Now that Ghibli's new movie is coming out soon, I've been thinking about anime films and wanna talk about my favorite animated movie ever, Tokyo Godfathers.
Tumblr media
TG is a 2003 tragicomedy by Satoshi Kon, following three unhoused people––an alcoholic, a runaway girl, an a trans woman––who find a baby in a dumpster and set off across Tokyo to reunite her with her parents.
If you like the sound of that, go watch it because the rest of this post is spoilers and I have FEELINGS about this movie.
URGHH, the fact that only two moments of true kindness, generosity, and care given to the three protagonists without any expectation of reciprocity are given by a Latin-American immigrant couple and a drag show club full of trans women. The fact that, despite her loud and dramatic personality, Hana is the glue that holds the team together and the heart of the whole movie. The fact that this movie pulls no punches at showing the violence and inhumanity committed by "civilized Japanese society" against the unhoused. The fact that Miyuki craves to be loved by her parents and ends up seeing Hana as her true mother. The fact that Miyuki starts off accidentally using transphobic language against Hana, but slowly begins calling her "Miss Hana" out of respect. The fact that, according to Kon, Hana's role in the story is as a mythological trickster god and "disturb the morality and order of society, but also play a role in revitalizing culture." The fact that Hana so desperately wants to be part of a true family, yet is willing to sacrifice her found family so they can be with their own, and is rewarded for her good deeds in the end by becoming a godmother. The fact that, throughout the movie, wind and light have been used to signify the presence of god's hand/influence (this movie's about nondenominational faith––faith in yourself, faith in others, faith in a higher power. Lots of religious are referenced, such as Buddhism/Hinduism, Christianity, and Shintoism), and in the climax of the film, as Hana jumps off a building to save a baby that isn't hers, a gust of wind and a shower of light save her from death. The fact that god saves a trans woman's life because she proved herself a mother, and that shit makes me CRY.
