I was exploring the Dragon Age: Inquisition game files (yes, hi, I do that monthly) and I came across some facts and lore in the form of short character descriptions that I haven't seen posted online before.

The first one being Blackwall's official intended age, which is 45.

The rest contains spoilers so I will hide under the read more.

Remember that charred note you pick up from the bandits you help Blackwall dispatch when you first meet him? The one trying to persuade him to join them. This is the description of the bandit.

Bandit 1 28 Male A soldier from Blackwall's past who has had to turn to crime.

That really adds some context to what he says afterwards, and why he was so angry with them.

And if you're curious, the ages of supporting cast for his plot:

I personally have been trying to figure out Thom's age for about a year now with no luck searching online besides theories so I really hope this helps people.

It is 'AgeRange' but with how specific some of these ages are (28 for example) I think its fairly safe to say they are the intended ages.

Can't remember how much ive already written about the friendship dynamics of my hc friendgoup (the heartthrobs of the archipelago - a name i made up as a joke but its growing on me) eret, dagur, and bayana

Ive already posted about eret inciting dagur to be a goblin and bayana being the exasperated (yet loving) voice of reason

Im also realizing some of their attributes that would contribute to interesting dynamics in their friendship.

Dagur and eret - both have histories of antagonistic relationships with dragons, not just fighting them in self defense like the people of berk used to but actively hunting them. This probably weighs heavily on them, and i think it would be nice for them to confide in each other about their feelings of guilt

Also neither eret nor bayana knew dagur before his redemption arc and its freeing for him to have friends that he can start fresh with because they were never his enemies

Eret and bayana - both know what its like to be an outsider in the archipelago. I think people are mostly friendly but some still give them a hard time. this happens to eret in one of the comics and im sure its the same for bayana, who brought an entire tribe with him from far outisde the archipelago. Theres probably a lot of tension going on there and i can see the two of them relying on each other for support. Also in my httyd rewrite bayana will be married to erets sister yuka (oc).

Bayana and dagur - tbh i dont see these two being quite as close as they both are with eret. Theyre still very good friends but i see eret as the glue of the friendship. Eret has a friendly rivalry with dagur that can sometimes turn into stupid disagreements. meanwhile if/when bayana and dagur disagree is *serious* and often involves bayana being very critical and dagur reacting in anger and defensiveness. Things also get super awkward when Bayanas oldest daughter/erets neice nia and dagurs son rainier fight (my ocs - they hate each other) But i do think they bond over their shared sense of responsibility as chiefs and fathers of strong willed children (rainier being angsty and distant and nia having boundless energy). Bayana can come off as being critical but its usually out of concern for dagurs wellbeing because he has some self destructive tendences.

In conclusion they are my special guys and i love them

I personally hc them to have chronic pain from injuries and other issues they sustained during their time in the army in canon, and that naturally transferred over into me hcing that, at least in a modern au, they absolutely would use a wheelchair to get around as they find it most suitable for them. Crutches are another option but aren't used as often, and if they do, it's either mainly around the house or for shorter distances.

Renovating is pretty exhausting so of course a lot of work means a lot of rest. There's many ways to do so such as sitting down with some tea and snacks, reading together or to each other, cuddling or watching movies; either way you spend this time together quite often 

speaking of movies, movie and show nights! At first at least there might be more of Casimir nerding over the technology than watching though /hj. Someone just please show this man the Beauty and the Beast. Or Transformers. First one is self explanatory, second one I just think would be funny. Also maybe Howls moving castle. That might be super far fetched but I think he'd like studio Ghibli. 

Bonding with Mimi! Casimir really wants to gain back her trust and having you be there calms him Mimi. Though it's better than it used to be already there's still some tension between them and you're definitely helping. You also get to spend time with both of them so that's definitely a win!

You cannot convince me this man doesn't go into hour long rants and rambles about his interests after you asked one simple question. He can get pretty lost in it once he started and tends to get a little embarrassed about it once he realises. Cmon, he was all by himself for multiple centuries, he's not used to people being around. You encouraging him to go on, asking questions or referencing things he told you later on means a lot to him. 

Of course it goes both ways, he absolutely loves listening to you talk, especially about things you're passionate about and will try to bring it up again later or engage in your hobbies with you together. He genuinely wants to know about you and your interests, for one he hasn't really heard from/about anyone else for a very long time (not counting cats and buildings) and also you're, of course he wants to hear everything you have to say

Okay okay okay this one's my personal favourite: hide and seek.​ I actually might write a whole own thing about that at some point soon because it'd just be so much fun!​ The house is quite big with super many hiding spaces. Now it's not something he'd suggest and yeah it might take some force persuasion to convince him but if you ask him really really nicely hell probably say yes, or just annoy him till he agrees (even more effective if Rainier joins). Alternatively just hide somewhere so he has no choice but to search (you definitely gave him a heart attack the first time you did that)

Casimir is old fashioned (I mean- how wouldn't he be) so your regular date nights are pretty classic. Usually it's a romantic dinner (brought to you by The House TM), sometimes it's dancing (like that one paid scene(? Is there one? Or am I mixing something up? Idk); he was taught to be a gentleman and he's gonna use that /hj

Bringing him modern things from shopping trips. It started off by you bringing him something he was curious about after you mentioned it and quickly developed into a habit of you bringing him trinkets whenever you're out. His curiosity makes you much more aware of how interesting even little thins can be and soon turned to you coming back from trips out the house with a bag of things like toys, gadgets and other fun things from the dollar store or similar. You then spend the day looking at what you brought, how it works and so on. Imagine spending the day with Casimir trying out a bunch of toys you bought or found with your old stuff (the type for children, don't think wrong here)

adding onto this because I love the idea of doing fun childish things with him (you'd have to be the one to initiate them though, potentially ‘force’ him, but he secretly enjoys it). Silly sleepovers with pillow forts, movies, teeny magazines (I want to just hand this guy a stack of these teen magazines and see what happens so bad), and snacks! 

related a bit to the one above but spa days! He definitely needs some more self care. I do kinda think he likes stuff as skincare and and used to have a routine (nobility and stuff) he likely had to cut short or even drop it completely with the house's hostility. But now you're there and not only are there so many products your world has for this, it's also much more fun together, leading to entire days planned only for spa and wellness activities (like doing each other's nails, I have a little theory connected to Casimir and acrylic nails but that's all I'm saying on that)

what IS wrong with a headcanon of Asra being afab and autistic?

Well hi there ✨

Let me explain why this is wrong.

Understand that no hate comes from my words and I am simply trying to explain. If afterward you disagree with my statement feel free to ( nicely ) explain your point of view. I will not go in a debate but I would be interested in reading it to understand.

I have neither read the routes nor the synopsis of the routes so I can't judge based on what is actually in it, it can be good as it can be bad but I am not focusing on that I am focusing on what is used for promotion.

For starters, there is nothing wrong with having personal headcanons that aren't hurtful so, in the case I saw someone saying they hc Asra as autistic because of an observation they did then there would be no problem but the afab one is hurtful. For a reminder to people who are unaware Afab stands for Assigned female at birth and Asra is canonly Amab ( assigned male at birth ) BUT nonbinary. His identity is a representation of the nonbinary community and a good one as it's casual and goes against the stereotypes that "you need to be androgynous or not pass as your assigned gender to be nonbinary." "having any feminine trait or action makes you a woman."

The term trans and nonbinary can be used differently from person to person but what I telling here is that Asra has a specific gender identity that matters to many. A lot of people misgender him because there either are not aware of his identity or because they are against it, changing it is erasing it.

Making Asra afab is erasing his already queer identity, it put the stereotype that nb people who show signs of feminity or androgyny are immediately considered girls. Taking away an already existing représentation to put another one instead is hurtful.

Nope it is canon and comfirmed :

There is no subtext or signs that Asra may be afab and if you want you can compare him to Rainier ( from monster manor, fictif games, written by one of the Arcana writers ) Rainier is canon Afab trans, it's here in subtext and it got confirmed by the creator when people started to make the hc.

Do you want to hc Asra as afab because you like the character and want him to be closer to you? Sure, that's your business but this does not apply here and let me switch to the main reason :

This headcanon is promoted as the same level of canon on the main Instagram account to attract a specific type of people with the marketing that queerness and neurodivergence are trends.

I would have not had this réaction if it was someone going on their days and having those headcanons. I would have still tought about what I said about erasing Amab's nonbinary identity but it would not have mattered because in that context it's a personal creation and I have no right to dictate how people have to feel about their personal creative space.

This is not the case, Dorian is promoting it on the main account that has 117k of followers. This is not simply doing headcanons, it's having your headcanon put in the spotlight with the idea of it attracting people through information that is not confirmed.

I have a big dislike for the Dorian marketing tactic of using the fan content of a well-known ID to milk them more audience but they are a company and this tactic works for them and for people using it to get big promotions and that a fact.

By doing so there is a mix of what is canon and what is not, blurring the line between personal interpretations that can hurt some community and real content that has been the fondation to create a community.

Yeah that's what I do, I do not engage with Dorian's content but you can't force me to turn a blind eye on the immense game that is the arcana.

The arcana is and has been notorious for being queer-friendly as a well-known free Otome. The fanbase is HUGE and you can't deny how it impacted a lot of Otome players (like myself). This was one of the most important queer spaces for otome players and still is. It helped people figure out their queer identity ( like me figuring out I was nonbinary after learning that Asra was and doing research afterward ) and have representation trough an enjoyable fiction. As someone still in the otome community and in fandoms that is close to the arcana ( last legacy on Fictif and Touch Starved by red spring studio ), it would be impossible for me to never look at what it become. The og game had its problem that I acknowledge but one thing it got right was its queer representation.

Now going back on the main topic.

Dorian is not Nyx Hydra. Nyx Hydra had its wrong with the promotion of some queerbaiting stuff but at its core, promoting queer games in an environment where there was almost none was a good thing. Dorian does not promote queer content because they want it to be seen and help the queer community, they are promoting queer content as a marketing strategy with the idea that queerness is marketable ( view this tactic as the same as a company selling pride stuff because it gives them a good image ). This applies also to neurodivergence.

Neurodivergence has never been a focus in the Arcana but is a perfectly good topic to explore in fan space. Why? Because it does not have to be focused on, it does not have to be put in your face. The story has never been about autism in any way and the only reason they would put it on focus is because they apply the same tactic as with promoting queerness: it's marketable. Making Asra autistic is not a problem it would be delightful to have a canon autistic LI in a big game ( like cove holden yes I am doing the olba propaganda here ) but it is not canon and trying to squeeze it as a main topic 7 years after it's release feels like an add on rather than a real representation.

Because queerness and neurodivergence are more talked about nowadays media companies are jumping on it to promote themselves. People against it are gonna drag the game and in that way make a promotion out of it and people in this community will check it out because they want to be represented. Again I am not talking about the routes themselves, I don't know the writers, and I don't know their content I am talking about Dorian.

Those promoted headcanons harm the queer community. We already have an existing queer story, changing it with new things on an almost canon level ( because it's promoted by the owner of canon content ) is erasing what we already had and making the new queer labels look bad. Think for a second, some people are gonna see the afab tag and get angry about it because "hey it was supposed to be a man nb" and start to hate on the creators, people who like the hc and possibly afab arcana creator with stigmatization. I am not even exaggerating, this can create hate within the community and even if it comes from a good heart this is not the way it should be added in the fandom.

I think I came across all the points I wanted to try to explain and I tried to really make it understandable to someone for who English isn't their first language.

All my opinions and views on that matter are not to be taken as an exact voice, I am only one player along with thousands of other people but if someone like me feels it should be addressed it's 100% sure that at least a couple of other people feels the same way or agree on some statement.

If you read this far this is a reminder that this is not an open door to start harassing or spreading hate to anyone and I hope my post helped understand what I tried to communicate. Always have critics on what you like and understand it's wrong and good.

Another load of Thoma technique based HCs for your doorstep.

+ He's capable of flight! Compared to the ease in comparison to anemo energy holders. Thoma's technique on the matter is to use jet propulsion instead through by either his feet or through the use of the Crimson Ooyoroi. For the latter, the slots amidst the armor would be molded to allow powerful jets of roaring flame through, it can manipulated for high speed/maneuverability.

The trade off upon such technique is his shieldcraft. Outside of making a protective layer upon his skin (and even that starts off weak, needing to rev up with damage), he can't create any protective barriers while providing himself the constant blaze in order to let him fly about. Attacks with fire blast are easier, since they go on the same principle or just shooting at differing outputs.

(Tbh I find this possible for all pyro/electro/anemo users with their ends of expertise.

You know. Maybe Hydro holders could actually 'swim' in the skies on rainier days.)

+ I've touched on this before but Thoma is an active practitioner of Ki. This is an energy that isn't derived from any Vision usage, rather, it's a power that comes from being able to successfully hone and apply the spirit through bursts of willpower made manifest.

So concepts like those sword beams you see through blunt physical force is well within his skill set. Similar to the Kairagi frommmm--

That fighting event from once upon a time! The only reason this is electro infused isn't due to any Vision properties. It's only the paper seals from the lost Kamuno arts that are literally spread all over Inazuma. So given that Kairagi themselves are capable of this due to their limited martial prowess, the higher scales within Teyvat can easily be capable of such feats.

So things like force slashes, force strikes has long since been added into his repertoire long before the gaining of his Vision.

+ Speaking on being of a tranquil mind. Thoma's mindset/spirit plays a very important part of how he manipulates the divine nature of his Pyro energy. Allowing it to differentiate as if it's extension of himself, allowing him to leave his enemies charred while any curtains of flame upon the land itself would leave it virtually unscathed (just a bit toasty) heavily depends on this practice.

Exercises such as meditation thus becomes an important part of his routine. Not only does it increase the potency of both shieldcraft and his offensive arts, it just allows his Pyro energy to defy the natural function it provides as if it's a switch to be played with. Losing this state of mind reverts to where it can be the all consuming flame it's originally fated to be. It's also how he infuse his companions with bursts of heat energy for the following--

+ Thoma's C6 is one of the most offensively inclined spells he's come to learn. By purposely fashioning the elemental energies within his allies, it allows for him to rouse their power to a blood boiling high. In turn, allowing for them to gain explosive bursts of strength while in his vicinity and underneath his blessing. While I have other ideas of what it does in my interp of playing with these powers, this is closer adherence to the canon.

He's gained a solid idea of the general baseline of what people can handle. Those underneath Pryo Resonance by working along with him, or just simply have a higher aptitude of handling intensity can get a more intense variance of this buff.

+ While he rarely enjoys using his abilities in this fashion. Thoma can also turn his shield onto opponents instead. Except, instead of a protective bubble, it's more of an enclosure that intends to pressure cook them. Unlike the ability of protecting others that resonates greater with his Vision's divinity, thus giving it more power, this alternative use of his ability demands a lot more out of him.

Enemies already have to be in a stunned state for him to successfully draw the barrier around them, on top of that, transforming the intent of his shield is a process that leaves him stationary as to keep them properly sealed for all the thrashing to follow. He normally keeps this as a teamwork based ability as his allies provide the openings. It's normally something he can never truly use on his own unless it's to finish a job.

+ I might've touched on this one before. Yet, smoke and steam are equally viable weapons to make use of within his hands. For smoke based attacks, it's an uncomfortable, itchy heat that doesn't burn, yet it heavily inhibits as his attention is to dwindle living opponents the use of their natural faculties. He normally saves this for crowd attacks by his lonesome, or to create ample get away moments.

Unlike his flames, this state of using this ability is dangerous at all, which is why he often forgoes it in team situations.

Meanwhile steam is a touch closer his essence of Pyro. This can be safely warded through and around by his allies, just being more of a humid hot to deal with compared to anything else. In comparison, the intention to his foes is to literally scald and melt the skin/construct off of their bodies, whether they're a living entity, mechanical or foes from the great beyond. The usage of divinity is what makes possible to more abyssal oriented foes.

HC - N’s Book

N’s Room was exactly the kind of bedroom that Hilbert would have killed for in his youth. That made the fact that it was located in Team Plasma’s Castle incredibly jarring.

Among the toy trains and scattered puzzle pieces was a book detailing the lives and events surrounding the Twin Kings. There was a lot of ink lines on some of the paragraphs, so bits and pieces could be read.

Nacrene City Museum actually had a copy of that book, which Hilbert would read much later. Under the cut is the text on the book that Hilbert found in N’s Room (with the text inked out). (One day I’ll write a version of the text that isn’t covered in ink.)

"It was due to the Twin King's selfish actions that Kyurem split its soul in half; creating two dragons where there had been one.

Reshiram - the Vast White dragon with blue eyes like bright flames - sided with Rainier the Truth Seeker and settled in the Relic Resort.

Zekrom - the Deep Black dragon with a booming voice like thunder - sided with Amias the Idealist and settled in Icirrus Tower.

From that point on, every time the brothers and dragons clashed, there was no clear winner. Either the dragons would tire each other out, or the brothers would first. Each battle was thus left unresolved, ending with the Twin Kings still alive but a thousand of their soldiers dead.

It would be years before one brother approached the other [this part, Hilbert couldn't make out - it looked like someone had written neat lines over it in black ink, rendering the words completely unreadable] and the two reconciled.

Having resolved their differences, the brothers effectively restored peace to Unova [this part seemed to be scribbled over in black crayon. The only other part of the page that was untouched was what looked like a family tree for each Twin King: underneath Rainier's name were the names Sereno and Felix. Underneath Amias' name were the names Frederick and Amelia].

Ten years would pass before the conflict started anew, with the sudden death of the King of Ideals. Not long after that, evidence had been found that the culprit was none other than Sereno, Rainier's first-born son.

Despite desperate claims [more black ink] Sereno was tried and then executed for the crime of King Amias' death. Historians believe that this is what threw Unova into the Second War of Truth and Ideals - with Rainier fighting for 'Truth,' and Amias' eldest son Frederick fighting for 'Ideals' in his father's place.

Storytelling Time

Real life anecdotes, made up fictional stories, or current occurrences with occasional modifications to add a sparkle of "mystery". The options were endless. Nevertheless, you were well-aware of the fact that telling stories, and getting to listen to them was one of the best activities ever.

So, when you found someone else who thought the same way as you, you could not help feeling excited about your shared interest. That way is how you found yourself staying up until late, dim light, crossed legs and voice going up and down according to the part of the story.

Attentive eyes from the dragon laying on his stomach followed your every move, as you expressed yourself to make storytelling an interesting experience. Rainier expressions were on sync with the story, allowing you to notice how immersed he was into the plot.

A pout would make its way onto his face whenever something slightly sad happened, and then you would see his eyes going from almost watery to bright with happiness.

You wondered whereas he was the most excited one while listening to the story, or if you were the one, due to how happy it made you seeing him enjoying himself.

When the story came to an end, Rainier finally lifted himself from his previous resting position to sit in front of you, his hands meeting in front of himself to clap. Playing along, you would slightly bow, thanking him at the same time for being the best audience you had ever had.

The brightest smile would make an appearance in response, and right after you would get to hear how the glowing being that was in front of you would comment each and every part of the story, telling you how they were his favourites, only to mention another one right after.

If there were a window open, you could probably have seen that the day was soon arriving, but at that moment all you knew was that there was no other place where you would rather be.

I really needed to write something about storytelling with Rainier. We both love stories, either listening to them or telling them, so it's a win-win for the two of us.

It would be such an amazing experience to get to get to listen to him talking about his numerous adventures as well, don't you think?
