Who's ready for the weekend? This week was pretty productive, I got most of my assignments done early and even had time to do some writing for fun. This weekend I'm going to play around with Spider's shop to see if I can figure out why sims can't buy his flowers. I think it may have something to do with re-placing the lot and it voiding out the arrangements that were in there. I also want to think about where I want certain character's stories to go. I've put off Katydid because I'm waiting on a band/musician pack. It's kinda funny because she's kinda my favorite Bug but I just don't know what to do wither her. Gnat, too, but the new pack will come in handy for him 👀 I'd love some ideas for any of them. Anywho, I hope everyone's doing well, here's a build I like. Happy Simming!

Autonomous crafting for all teen+ Sims
I've never before been so happy to share a creation! Get ready to get crafting, because it's about to get autonomous! Released today in collaboration with the wonderful @joplayingthesims who has built a community lot for the mod, seen in the pictures below. Exciting!

In my game, I have a community lot with crafting stations for Sims who can't afford one, or don't have space for one. But as I visited it recently with one of my college students wanting to learn flower arrangement, I got a bit depressed by all the empty stations and the other visitors just standing around chatting. I wondered if anyone had added autonomy, and I came upon iCad's autonomy enabler. While neat, it only adds autonomy for the active household which is the opposite of what I wanted. So I made my own that enables it for visiting Sims as well, only to quickly realize how annoying that got. All these Sims asking me to pick a recolor for them, blergh! So I went on tweaking, fixing the annoyances as they came up, and here we are! Finally it is possible to have a lively crafting studio where all Sims participate, without being annoying for you the player! Are you excited? Because I am excited!
What does the mod do? - Enables autonomy on "make many" and "continue" (see readme for more info on why not make one) for all five original crafting types - Robots, toy making, flower arrangement, pottery and sewing - Does NOT charge your Sims money for background Sim crafting. Money sounds and visuals show for all Sims, but only your current households crafting charges household funds. - By default only autonomous on community lots. Has optional autonomy on residential/apartment lots, you can enable autonomy on those lot types by placing the Autonomy Toggler object somewhere on the lot (custom object made using parts of the FT crafting clutter, found in hobbies/misc for 1 simoleon). I set it up this way as residential autonomy sounds irritating to me, but I'm all about flexibility for the user. Perhaps you want to run arts classes at your residential playable school, or you simply like autonomy more than I do :) Please note that autonomy advertisement is tuned with community lot use in mind, so it might be higher than you'd want for residential. If there's interest I am happy to make a second version with lower advertising for those who primarily want residential use. If you are somewhat familiar with TTAB edits yourself, you can try changing attenuation code to low or medium to limit advertisement distance which will reduce appeal to Sims. VER 2: Toggler object now also works on community lots, turning off autonomy if present on community lot. Residential/apartment behavior remains the same as before. - Fixes annoyances with background crafting, such as selecting recolors and pop ups about progress - Changes inventory mechanics to allow for owned studio-type use, in case you'd like a friendly owner Sim present to provide instruction. Crafting now only goes to business lot owner if done by an employee, otherwise crafting Sim gets the object. Includes home business, so if it bothered you that family members don't get to keep their work, this also fixes that. If that part annoys you, see readme for how to remove this feature.

Conflicts: Only known conflict is iCad's original autonomy enabler, you have to pick if you want hers version of autonomy, or mine :) Readme contains breakdown of the functionality of all parts, to help you decide a load order should you encounter conflicts. It should be possible to resolve conflicts though if there are any others, so please report them to me :)

Put your community (or residential) gardens to use! Create and rent allotments, push gardening interactions and make a nice profit while you're at it.

Place the allotment marker in a gated enclosure, set the sim who will be renting the allotment, and they'll take care of all the plants within their enclosure, plus partake in other specified duties.

Gardening Push
As the allotment marker is a meta object, the sim renting the marker may autonomously be pushed to the lot to garden their allotment while inactive.
The marker is also a broadcaster object, so while within the vicinity, the renter will be pushed to complete any outstanding garden activities while in range.
You can also set up dedicated gardening days to push your sim to the lot and prevent your sim from coming to garden during certain seasons.

Set an owner for the allotment or attach a Bronzo* bank to the marker and make your sim pay to use the space! You can even set up automatic rent payments.

Harvesting
Link a harvest box to the allotment marker and all harvested produce will go straight into the box instead of clogging up your sims inventory. You can also sell produce straight from the box!

Welcome to Riverview Reimagined - A complete overhaul/redo of Riverview as you know it!
" Riverview is a flourishing riverfront town with a diverse population nestled in the beautiful rolling countryside. The town was founded by the Harrington family some 200 years ago, and it has since grown significantly and begun to truly flourish, with a great sense of community. This is the ideal small, yet lively town to call home for a variety of reasons, including stunning panoramas from nearly every angle, a wide range of activities to do and sights to see, and interesting individuals to meet. Riverview is undoubtedly a remarkable town! "
WARNING:
The world may be laggy at times and take a while to load, depending on your computer specifications, but then again, The Sims 3 is a rather poorly optimised game.

This world has been PLAYTESTED by 5 other people, so no major issues should occur when playing this world, at least not any issues unheard of when generally playing this game.

Since it is somehow not possible to include the bridges and distant terrain in the exported world, that metadata will not show up and you will need to download them and place them in your mods folder to appear in-game. Technically, these are not required, however, without them, parts of the town will not look very good. Luckily simsample on ModTheSims has our backs! Get them HERE
Scroll to the bottom of the page and download the following 2 files:
Bluefunk_Riverview_Bridges_InGame.package.zip
Bluefunk_Riverview_DistantTerrain_InGame.package.zip
Then, simply place them in your packages folder within your mods folder. If you do not have a mods folder, please refer to THIS easy tutorial.

FOR CAMPGROUND I could not find a way to place functional tents on the campground without them disappearing once the world was exported. There are a few workarounds, though.
1.) Simply type in the cheat "buydebug" and look for the tent/s that come with World Adventures. Purchase it for your sim, have them manually place it in their inventory, and from there you can place the tent/s on the campground for your sims to use. Alternatively, you can use the tents that come with Island Paradise, found in the miscellaneous part of the comfort section in buy mode. Do the same as instructed above and place the tent/s on the campground.
2.) Download this mod that enables the World Adventures tents from buydebug. In Edit Town, edit the campground and navigate to the community objects icon in build mode. From there, click on the infinity sign to load all community objects and rabbit holes. HERE you'll find the unlocked tents. Place them on the campground and they should be functional once you enter live mode.[I used the first option, "Tents as Community Objects"]
(NB!!! IF YOU INSTALL THIS MOD BEFORE LOADING THE WORLD, FUNCTIONAL TENTS WILL SHOW UP ON THE LOT.)
I'm really sad that I couldn't include the tents already, but I tried several different methods and none of them worked.
The world is populated, with 30 households in total, but there are plenty of houses available for purchase, as well as 7 empty lots.
CHANGES MADE TO THE WORLD ITSELF:
I manually replaced and added trees individually. It's a bit cluttered, but more lush, especially in the area around the campgrounds.
I manually replaced all the roads, intersections, and sidewalks. Credit goes to GrandeLlama
Added a small bay in the lake into which the river flows to add a campground with a pier.
Swapped the bridge near the campground with the green one found in Twinbrook.
Small changes and additions to some sidewalks.
Some lots were added and/or changed.
Some street addresses changed.
Other minor details.
~ I really wanted to add ghosts to the cemetery and some other lots, especially to add to the lore, but unfortunately it is not possible when exporting a world through CAW.
~ Most of the interior tips and tricks I used to make custom furniture/unique decor were my own, but for a few of them, the credit has to go to the wonderful and talented @theplumdot.
DISCLAIMERS/ISSUES:
~ I had several issues with the apartment lots but managed to fix most of them, except this one... The apartments are set to 'EP09 Apartments', which I accidentally set and even if I changed them to regular residential, they reverted back. This means roommates will appear after a while, but BEFORE you move your sims in, you can fix this by going into Edit Town, clicking on the lot, and changing it to 'Regular Lot'. If roommates still show up, you can cancel roommate services by clicking on your sim's phone and going to 'Real Estate and Travel Services'. Also, choosing where to move your sims in, two apartment lots in the central town area will be available for rent that is actually occupied and will add the existing sims as roommates. The only unoccupied apartment in town is the "Midview Apartments".
~ Some female sims have the weird two-tone blue and green lipstick from Into The Future for some outfits, mostly swimwear. I have no idea why this happened, but I tried multiple times to get rid of it but it keeps showing up again.
~ Pretty much all of the sims have gloves for their outerwear. I have this glitch where even if I remove them, they somehow show up again. Hey, Riverview gets cold in the winter!
~ The female butler, Arasha Shreshta's face goes all EA's "pudding face" when she is in her career outfit, but normal/the way I made her in her normal outfits. I have no why idea why this happens.
~ Some role NPCs might get stuck in the apartment buildings, but a simple reset should fix them. I've tried several workarounds to stop this from happening but to no avail. This tends to often occur in Bridgeport and would generate NRAAS "Unroutable Sim" popups.
~ Upon loading the world (no fly-in, unfortunately I'm not that technically inclined), you might notice the household thumbnails taking a while to load and pets showing up pitch black, it's just a simple graphical issue.
~ Most of the big houses are quite expensive, which I apologise for. I'm quite the perfectionist and detail is very important to me, which means it doesn't take much for my builds to become quite pricey.

Hi Amelie! I love the aesthetic of your game and builds. You've shared some pictures of a build named "Residences & Shops in Munich, Germany". I have been reeally in love with "multipurpose" builds with more than 1 building in a block like that. I'd like to ask, do you have any tips in building a large "block/street" like that? Hello! I really appreciate your kind words! I actually answered a question on my building tips and the steps I personally take when starting a build here. In terms of building larger multipurpose lots I actually haven't built anything else like this but here are some more tips that I thought of when building my Munich shops: (these are quite specific but hopefully will still be helpful to you!)

Define the Purpose: Start by deciding the main functions of your build (e.g., apartments, clothing store, office spaces). This will guide your design choices and floorplans.
Entrance Design: Ensure each area has its own entrance. For commercial spaces, a storefront with large windows is inviting, while residential units usually have private entries.
Access: Consider how Sims will move between the different areas. Use staircases or elevators to connect each floor.
Common Areas: For apartment buildings, consider creating shared spaces like a laundry room, lounge, or outdoor area that residents can enjoy and use.
Theme and Branding: Decide on a theme for your store (e.g., clothing, grocery, bakery). This will help everything look and feel cohesive.
Display and Layout: Create displays with items on shelves or counters. Feel free to look up actual floorplans of clothing or grocery stores for realism.
Backroom Storage: Include a small storage area or backroom for employees to manage inventory. This adds realism.
Functional Space (for Offices): Design offices with functional workspaces, including desks, chairs, and meeting areas. Consider creating cubicles or open spaces based on your inspiration photo/idea.

The structural life cycles of big cities are inevitably characterized by rise, decay, changes of use and transformation. The latter is at the core of photographer Joachim Brohm’s long-term project „Areal“: between 1992 and 2002 Brohm again and again returned to the former Raab Karcher areal in Munich, documenting its transformation from industrial area to residential quarter. In contrast to his earlier projects Brohm only rarely used an elevated standpoint but rather zoomed in on the manifold goings-on that marked the transformation. Where in the beginning interim uses of often weird nature characterized the area in later years construction work, lorries and construction workers dominated the scene. Brohm again shows the ostensibly banal that through his subjective and well-constructed view receives the character of a silent yet striking interpretation of the passing of time in a neverland in transit. Brohm documents the symptoms of transition as well as chance finds that tell of the life still going on in the wasteland. His photographs become a visual inventory of time and space but also of the placelessness of this „Areal“.
A selection of the series’ more than 300 individual photographs is presented in the eponymous catalogue published by Steidl in 2003. The catalogue, which also contains two highly readable essays by Regina Bittner and Urs Stahel, beautifully reproduces Brohm’s photographs and invites the reader to give in to the tranquility of this series and reflect about urban contexts and how time shapes surroundings and environments.
Yet another wonderful work by one of the great contemporary photographers.

“Oh, come on.” You hissed, balancing on the rusted out running board of Crane’s truck, fighting with your oversized and overfilled rucksack. It was a challenge to get around on its own, but now one of its damn seemingly infinite straps was caught up on yet another piece of the content’s of the truck bed and you struggled to lift the thing up at the weird angle. You thought you’d gotten it free at one point, but nope. 
Coils of rope, burlap bags, several unsealed first aid kits—one had what looked like blood on it, some old moldy moving boxes you’d heard metal rattling in on the way here, blue plastic tarps, hoses of various sizes and lengths, beat to hell tool boxes, what looked like some kind of pump—you don’t want to think about what that had been for. The headlines you’d seen online flashing to the forefront of your mind about how the Scarecrow had pumped in fear toxin through the vents of a residential building at Gotham U. Squeezing your eyes shut to force yourself to stop taking inventory and focus on pulling, you wanted to do anything but think about it.
Finally it came loose from whatever it was stuck on. Unfortunately, you’d not prepared for it to come loose that easily. Eyes shooting open as fear scruffed you by the back of the neck, you found yourself trying and failing to maintain your balance on the untrustworthy running board. Choking on your own spit when you realized Crane was on the other side of the truck watching you. Your foot goes through the weak metal, almost sending you toppling into the rocks, barely saving yourself by grabbing onto the large generator he had in there among the mess.
It was at that moment you realized how tall he was. The very top of the side panel came up to the bottom of his ribs while he was standing flat footed on the ground and he could not only see inside just fine, but could reach the middle of the bed with those long arms of his. He could probably grab you from where he was standing if he really wanted to.
When had he gotten out of the cab? You couldn’t remember hearing him get out. You had to really slam the doors on that thing to get the old latches to catch. Trying to stuff down those rattling nerves, you ask “Were you an eagle scout? You look prepared for anything short of the apocalypse!” in the most pleasant way you could manage without your voice shaking. All you got was a mere hum in response and him looking away for the first time since he’d gotten out of the truck that you’d noticed. Down into the bed, to the snarled rat's nest only he could make sense of. You chose to take that as him agreeing with your observation.
In the past few hours of in person interaction, if you could call it that, you’d been talking at him while he gave you the Kubrick stare for the most part. The way people talked about him online you thought he’d have been enjoying the sound of his own voice after so long in Arkham, but then again what did true crime people actually know? It gave you an odd sense of hope. Maybe they were wrong about him. In enough ways for it to matter at least. In enough ways to be able to go home tomorrow. 
You hupped to psych yourself up and lifted the rucksack with all your might. Letting it do a, partially, controlled fall to the gravel driveway that was more mud than anything at this point which made you groan a little louder than you should have when the sensation of cold mud sprayed across your ankles. It had been brand new, but really that was its purpose, wasn’t it? Bound to get dirty sometime. 
Out of breath, but you were able to get that heavy bag to the foot of the patio steps and thunk thunk thunked it up the too tall DIY project steps onto the patio. Old paint crunching under your shoes and flaking away as you dragged the rucksack across the planks to the door, leaving a trail of grainy mud in its wake. 
The owner had said the hide-a-key was in the plant pot by the door, but you couldn’t see anything that looked out of place in the odd tiny pine tree’s cracked fancy pot. “Do you see a—” You looked beside you thinking he'd be standing there, but he wasn't. Somehow it made you jump harder than if he'd been there. 
Your first instinct was to look behind you, but he wasn't there either. "Dr. Crane?" you whispered, not sure if you wanted him to answer. Where did he go? He wouldn’t ditch you there would he? Had he gotten back in the car? Your mouth goes dry as anxiety creeps up your back like a spider and you squint trying to see what you could with the dim porchlight illuminating no more than a few inches from the bottom step. When you couldn’t see him in the cab your eyes followed the way you’d come up the pavers to the door. Then it clicked, you were looking past him. You flinched slightly in surprise finding him lurking at the foot of the porch steps. 
You couldn't even see him so much as the outline of him and the very bottom part of his raggedy corduroy pants covering his shins, down to those struggling to stay together old brown work boots barely clinging to his feet.
Finding him made you jump harder than him not being where you thought he was. "Jesus Christ!" "Mm?" The vaguely questioning sound he produced made you realize he'd either not heard you or hadn’t been paying attention when you’d said his name. If you’d said it louder you might have thought he had been waiting to startle you on purpose. “What are you doing down there?” No answer. “Can you help me find the hide-a-key?” Again he says nothing, he did join you on the porch though. Stamping over steps you’d had to climb without having to try or even pausing to have to think about it.
It only took him a second, that was all. Finding it at a glance among the perfectly similar river stone rocks scattered in the pot. He fished it out and used the tattered hem of his red sweater to wipe the dirt off before handing it to you. That was sweet of him. You made sure to say thank you. The corners of his lips turned up slightly after you looked away from him, you caught it out of the corner of your eye. Like he’d tried to smile, but had accidentally done it too late.
The door was finicky. You thought the key was going to snap before you managed to jiggle it right where it wanted to be in the keyway to unlock the door, but the moment that deadbolt slid open enough to escape the strike plate the door handle was yanked out of your hand. Wrenching itself open so violently it slammed into whatever was behind it, rattling the glass inlay hard enough that you were shocked it didn’t shatter. 
You stood frozen, not even daring to breathe. You look to Crane, but for what you weren’t sure. He was playing with a lock of his hair, making it curl around his finger with the expression you’d expect from someone watching their favorite tv show. “A draft.” He offered cooly when he noticed your pleading look. “Yeah,” You peered into the house, finally finding air with one hard gulp until you just couldn’t look into the abyss anymore so you looked back to him. “A draft.” 
When you didn’t move he took the initiative. Walking into the house like he owned it and taking your rucksack with him, making you do a double take when he picked it up one-handed like it didn’t weigh a thing. All the way to the other side of the cabin, setting it on the dining room where he sat it on the table. Thoughtfully, turned on the light. It flickered then slowly eased to its full brightness, only illuminating the table itself and close to a foot around it, making it an island in the middle of an inky sea of vague shapes and shadows.
You should have gone with him. You should have, but you didn’t and now there was an insidious moat between you and him. All you had to do was walk across the living room to him. Go through that oh so narrow unlit area, come on. There was nothing there. A rug at most or maybe one of those weird floor sockets for lamps. Crane waited patiently with his hands folded in front of him like an innocent choir boy who totally wasn’t enjoying watching you stickbug back and forth in the doorframe trying to psych yourself up.
You’d ridden out into the middle of nowhere with one of the most dangerous men in Gotham City on a Friday night, to some guy you’d found on Craigslist’s house so you could hunt ghosts because he’d told you his grandpa died there in a hunting accident, and said dangerous man watching you oscillate just got out of an insane asylum after going on not one, but multiple crime sprees that took some kind of pet play gimp bat freak to stop. The insane asylum, there was only one in Gotham—Go in the house. Why are you afraid of the dark? The scariest thing for miles was standing in the light.
So you closed your eyes tight, clenched your fists, and power walked into the house. Through the dark moat and right into Crane. He stumbled a step or two back when you plowed right into his stomach then offered a steadying hand on your shoulder. “Sorry.” You squeak out peeking up at him. All you got was a scoff of what might be a laugh or some kind of grumble. He wouldn’t look at you, as far as you could tell he didn’t seem particularly bothered and you were quick to give him his space back after he removed his hand.
It meant a lot to you that he didn’t get upset because from the moment you met him he’d made it absolutely clear to everyone who crossed his path that he did not want anyone to touch him, look at him, or be near him. To the point where he’d refused to approach when someone had tried to be polite and hold a door open at the diner earlier. You’d expected him to move away or move you away. Maybe not being shoved away from him was a reward for facing your fear. Maybe you’d watched too many Youtube videos about things you had no idea about and overthought everything.
You metaphorically grab yourself by the back of the head and put yourself on task as to not dwell, forcing yourself to fight the myriad straps so you could get in your bag and start unpacking. After setting your flashlights and your recorder down you realized you were fucking up. Slow down, pay attention, explain things to him. Show him there’s a process. 
"So—well,” You cleared your throat and tried again. “So it’s kind of a some now, some later thing.” “Mhm.” Oh, you had his attention. “Because while we can, hopefully, get some responses in the moment. There will be some things we’ll have to go over the recordings for after. Like voices we couldn’t hear or—” He tilted his head like a curious puppy, giving the impression of not knowing in the slightest and you fumbled to think of other examples. “Shadow people or apparitions. Things like that.” 
A snort, the tiniest of poorly hid smiles on his face to accompany it. “Don’t laugh!” Telling him not to made a jack-o-lantern-esque smile crack his thin lips. He was, somehow, more and less creepy when he smiled at the same time. It was like he didn’t know how or maybe it hurt him to try. A spidery hand leapt up with a jolt to cover that shattered facade with his fingers. He was apparently conscious of this which made you a little sad. You hoped no one had been mean enough to say that to his face. “I’m not.” He assured in not more than a low rasp.
After cutting him with another side eye, you went back to unpacking. He moved to hover behind, looking shoulder to see what other nonsense you were packing. Picking up the K2 meter and turning it over in his hands, almost shooting up onto the ceiling like a cartoon cat when he turned it on and it beeped. That was quickly turned off. “We can’t use that in the kitchen.” You say while checking that all three of the flashlights batteries are in them. “It detects electromagnetic fields, it’ll give a false positive in a spot with a lot of electricity running through it.”
He made no comment, but he did turn it back on to test that for himself. Shuffling hither and thither through the living room and kitchen to see what and where set it off while you made sure your video camera had nothing embarrassing on it in case he got curious about that too. It seemed to be mostly old videos of your cat. You turned to say something and about leapt out of your skin. He’d at some point moved to stand beside you, but you couldn’t even give what you were going to say a second try because a loud gut wrenching crunch sent a cold shiver down your spine and an echo cascading out into the otherwise silent house. It had come from Crane.
Which didn’t make it less ominous.
At first you were scared to look at what was in his hands. When you did you found he’d pilfered a bag of Goldfish crackers somewhere and was munching away like he’d not eaten a big supper an hour or two ago. “You can’t eat that.” You protested putting your hands on your hips. “It’s not ours—” then you saw the date on the bag. 03/17/2014. “Oh my God.” He had to have seen that. You know he saw that. The look on his face when he realized you’d seen it told you he had. The only way to describe the expression was ferretish. How could someone so skeletal look that mischievous? At the very least they had to be incredibly stale, at the worst they were moldy.
“Jonathan!” His eyebrows shot up at the use of his first name. That was the only time you seemed to have done something he didn’t expect. “Stop!” Another handful. “They’ll make you sick!” He rolled his eyes and noticed the camera. Jerking his whole body like it was a marionette on a string so he’d be out of the shot. If it was so no one saw him eating decade old Goldfish or for some other reason you weren’t sure. Maybe he didn’t like to be recorded? That was fine with you.
You turned it so you were the focus. “It’s not recording, don’t worry.” To ease his concern you held it out to him. “Here, this way you won’t have to worry.” An incredulous glance, but after a moment or two of you not changing your mind he finished his last handful of Goldfish, dusted the crumbs off on his pants, and took the camera. He was so careful when he did, almost as if he was worried your hand would snap off like a porcelain doll’s if he was slightly too rough. After sussing out how it worked, he had it focused on you with the red light on, recording already. At least he couldn’t eat the Goldfish anymore with his hands full.
You smiled into the camera, then your eyes flicked up to him. Holding up one of the flashlights as you presented the equipment to him “UV light.” then another “Infralight.” then the last one “This is just a mag light, but!” You tapped the camera with your fingernail once you’d sat the flashlight down next to the bag of Goldfish that would haunt your nightmares. “That’s a full spectrum camera! So hopefully it’ll get anything—” “And where,” “We might—” “Did you get all of this?”
You were struck dumb. That was the longest sentence he’d ever said to you in person. It hadn’t been half a day of knowing him in person so that wasn’t really saying much, but still. Unfortunately, you knew your answer wasn’t a winning one the moment you went to answer it. “Am…” His eyebrow arched, the judgment had begun. “Amazon?” You managed to get out with all the authority of a parrot saying “Bottle.”
He looked away, sucked on his bottom lip and let it go with a loud pop before letting out a long breath that would have been some kind of prolonged stress sigh if he was more annoyed. He wasn’t annoyed or disappointed, but you also couldn’t tell what emotion it was for certain. Crane looked back at you, but ultimately returned to his silence even though it felt like he wanted to say something. At least he didn’t laugh, just slow blinked at you like your cat did sometimes.
“What?” He shook his head “I know you want to.” You pestered with a smile. That made him give you an amused look. You decided to take it as him being tickled you claimed you could tell. “I’m simply admiring your,” He took pause to consider his next word carefully, “resourcefulness.” You, not believing that for a minute, threw a playful side eye at his head trying to seem more agitated than you were, decided to go back to unpacking. If only out of spite at the moment. “You could be a smidge more grateful, you know? I spent a lot of money on this stuff for us. I know you think it’s silly, but—” ‘You didn’t already have this?” “No?”
The small amount of good humor he’d afforded you hit the floor like a lead balloon and his tone was suddenly very terse. “Why?” “Because I promised you I would?” He threw his hands up causing you to wince. You were a little shocked he didn’t accidentally fling the camera from how instinctual the gesture was. He lowered them when he saw you flinch. “But this couldn’t have been cheap?” He didn’t raise his voice in spite of the clear agitation in his voice or at least disgruntled confusion. Still near whispering which made the fact that you’d bothered him in some way a lot less terrifying than it should have been. You kind of felt like a librarian that told him he couldn’t check out any more books until he paid his late fees.
“I don’t care about that.” You guaranteed, holding your hands up in surrender. Trying to show him you weren’t arguing so much as saying your piece. Though it was still arguing at the end of the day, wasn’t it? You were incorrigible. “It’s just-It’s just money.” Your anxiety made you eek out a nervous laugh saying that in spite of yourself and it did nothing to soothe his consternation. “You don’t care?” “Why would I care about that?” It was a genuine question that he seemed completely boggled by. “None of this,” He waved the camera to give an example, making your guts do flips, it was so expensive “Could have been cheap. You got scammed—” “No.” You put a finger up and to his credit he took being interrupted like a champ, going quiet with a soft huff.
“If you think, genuinely think, that this is all about proving ghosts are real to you then maybe that sweater is too tight in the neck.” It wasn’t, it was so loose at this point you could see his Adam’s apple and where his clavicle started. Stop looking at that. “You wouldn’t chastise me for buying a badminton set, would you? That’s all this is.” You got the feeling he would have chastised you for that too, but that was the generally miserly vibe he exuded. Crane almost seemed like he was buffering on that statement until you added, “It is a bonus though. Proving ghosts are real, I mean.” “Even if you do find something no one will believe you.” Crane actually broke into a miserable frown before saying in a tone that betrayed sadness instead of the anger you were expecting. “Not with me here.”
“Well,” You puffed yourself up and crossed your arms defiantly “I’d rather have you here than anyone else believe me anyway.” That sent him into an odd state of awed confusion, his mouth opened a touch and heavily lidded eyes wide. “Besides, you’re the only person I care about believing me. It’s not like I would do this for anyone else. It’s just us here.” There was a split second where he looked like he was about to throw up, but he choked down whatever emotion that was with a forced cough. Crane held the camera back up with that inscrutable expression right back where it was before your exchange. He didn’t argue, how strange. He loved arguing. Maybe you had won for once? The ex-professor stopped fussing, that's what mattered.
You’d forgotten what you were doing during that. You must have looked lost because he motioned at all the stuff on the table. “Oh! Right, right, right. Anyway, that’s a full spectrum camera. So it should be able to pick up anything we miss. I wanted to get a thermal camera, but I ran out of money. Aahahaa—” He didn’t laugh, but he did smile a little. This time it didn’t look like it hurt. Maybe those little smiles made this whole goofy adventure worth it in the end? They did to you and you’d decided that’s what mattered.

i'll be honest, i'm a little (pleasantly) surprised to see enthusiastic interest in these silly ideas- not as a self-deprecatory thought, mind, but more of an unexpectedness since this is a space where i just toss random doodles to the wind hdowjfjdk

onto the ask at hand, i'll start with some preliminary details. Both iterations are some years older!, meaning that KK would be around his early thirties when he becomes a charter with a newly built district to his name (he's currently 27). Maxismum, the district, is relatively thin in width, and would likely be located on the outer rim of the city. While KK didn't originally want to become charter, in these AUs he's pushed or motivated to aim higher, so that he can provide a happy space for his friends and for Vinyl City. He takes this in two different ways, explained under the read-more!
(Foreword: these ideas are a wip, so the designs of the costumes and districts might change later on)
DJ F.Light
Route A is the Normal Route. Here, KK keeps his old stage name, DJ Dragonflyte, and just shortens it into an alias sometimes (the exact reason why is still pending, maybe as a way to get around without his reputation preceding him). KK continues with his philosophy of living the PLUR life (rave acronym for peace-love-unity-respect) and utilizes his status + district as a means of bringing attention to smaller and/or up-and-coming artists! It's sort of why his outfit is less flashy and looking like an ordinary event organizer, with some design inspirations coming from the look of aircraft marshallers.
Maxismum A:

This Maxismum has a topside and an underside, with the former being split up in quarters by cardinal direction.
The east and west quarters are long sections of bright neon roofed mall space, called Holiday Row East and West, respectively. They primarily function as a space where people can acquire 1) party paraphernalia (think Party City vibes) and 2) reasonably priced materials that can help someone kick off their own music career! So like instruments, costumes, sound equipment, etc, etc. The items are sort of generic though, since the inventory has to cater to a wide variety of people, so he encourages folks that do more specialized work, like costume and set designers, to advertise their wares at Holiday Row :]
The north quarter connects to an airport! Maxismum and Holiday Row also act as sort of touristy place, to be the first impression of Vinyl City (the airport + air tram access is also because it fits with his theme- he thought it would be cool). (i might not keep this idea)
The south quarter is residential, and while the apartments are well maintained, they're a bit tight on space and see a lot of foot traffic outside.
The underside is specifically used for performances, plural. It works similarly to underground warehouse raves back in the day, where there are separate "rooms" (buildings, at this size) that musicians can rent out for performance venues, and he'll accept any and all genres to take a crack at a real stage. The atmosphere of this layer is always generally dim, with streetlamps and blacklight fixtures and neon lights that decorate the area and lead people to places with 'ascension' motifs (airplanes, rockets, rising stars...you know, for Rising Stars).
DJ F.Light's venue, called the Blacklight Runway (a slight nod to a track by the same name from Dirty Androids), is the largest one there, and when he holds a concert, he never does it alone. He always invites other DJs or artists of similar genres to perform with him, where they cycle out the person playing after a certain amount of time. Each DJ is credited when it's their turn to play, and F.Light is always the last one to go. Anyone unfamiliar with his concerts might be surprised to see that...he was both the ticket guy at the door and the guy in the crowd that was *really* going ham with the cheering during everyone else's performances.

DJ Apotheotic
Route B is the "Bad" Route. This KK lets his nerves get to him and takes on the theme of the Sophisticated Techno Night Club. He transitions out of his old Dragonflyte theme completely and feeds into the idea that he *has* to look and act more "professional" in order to be taken seriously.  Initially, that was in the spirit of benefiting Vinyl City, but he soon got lost with his vision and aimed for power and popularity instead, becoming dead set on being the Best.

Instead of "Party City Music Mall", the district looks much more like a futuristic minimalist, with architecture consisting of high rise polyhedral towers plated with sleek, black chrome and neon strips. (Think Tron: Legacy, for those that have seen the movie).
Instead of topside being split into quarters, there are just two halves: the business and residential districts.
Maxismum's offices are chic but practical, with a primary focus on digital equipment, like monitor screens, sound programs, and even gaming hardware. While not as artistically fancy as Dream Fever, there's definitely an energy of trying to be like 'what is sold or served here is of high quality, furnished with the latest upgrades and reputably sourced, and deserving of respect'.
The residential district is like...brutalism's chrome and neon cousin. Though the apartments are a little pricey, but they're close to air tram stations that connect to other parts of the city, and the living conditions and spaces are great, as long as you're okay with moving into a. block. It's all in the name of efficiency.
(The district sounds a bit bleak but it does have something of an active nightlife, with entertainment in darkness-themed establishments like arcades, laser tag, and bowling alleys. he hasn't completely gotten rid of his roots ey).
What stands out the most in the district is his venue, called...I'm less solid on this name (pun intended), but it's something along the lines of The Perfect Prism. It's a large building built on tall supports with an outer facade that changes its shape into different simple polyhedrons, like pyramid, cube, diamond. Sometimes a sphere. His concerts are the *only* official concerts allowed to happen in his district, and he runs his shows like he's the hottest thing in the city. I almost hesitate to say he's like a priest at his turntable pulpit because he's not...giving sermons or holding some kind of 'music Mass', but in the those calm breaks in the music when the DJ talks, he's definitely saying stuff like "my music will save your fucking soul (metaphorical)". And he doesn't just have his finger on the pulse of the party, his music *is* the pulse of the party, and he's "gonna deliver you from your troubles with a lotta noise, baby".

Coming Home

Getting specimens from the docks of Sharlayan into Labyrinthos is always a hassle, regardless of how often he’s done it. Rock samples can break, plants are susceptible to frostbite, and live animals are happy to show you how much they do not like being removed from their home.
After loading the last of the containers onto the boat, he takes a second to stretch his back and look around. The weather had turned from clear skies to heavy snow since he stepped off the boat, but it did not deter the people from getting their work done. Young scholars trying to get a bite to eat under the cover of the Last Stand, researchers rushing indoors to keep their papers from getting soaked, and even his fellow gleaners continuing to take inventory despite the snow gathering on their hats and shoulders.
The world-ending crisis was averted not too long ago; if anything, he should be spending time relaxing. On any other day, he might have been motivated to start the next task or even plan for tomorrow. But right now, the only thing he longs for is a warm drink and seeing his love. 
Yet here he is, still doing his job. 
“I’m surprised that you’re still at it, I figured you would be on your way home by now.” The male elezen, Harlissand, didn’t even look up from counting the cargo when he made his remark. Erenville faintly remembers when the man admitted that he barely felt any change in his workload before and after the world was saved from another calamity. “Unless you are trying to stall time to find a gift for your partner.” 
“What makes you say so?”
“Frankly, you’ve been staring longingly towards the residential area for the last bell now. So, I would have expected you to be heading off.” Harlissand even gave a nonchalant shrug, “It's not like you have something that needs to be done today, right?”
“I… I suppose you are right. I assume you don’t mind making sure the specimens get where they need to be?” When a proper reason didn’t pop into his head, Harlissand waved him off without another word and Erenville took it as his chance to get away. 
He had never been more relieved to step into his shared home, especially when he could feel the snow stuck to his hair and clothes. The ambient heat was working its magic on the chill that seeped into his bones, and he could feel the sensation returning to his stiff fingers again. It didn’t take him long to kick off his wet boots and set down the heavy backpack. Only when he peeled off the top layer of his uniform did he note how quiet it was.
Junior should have been home bells ago. The only evidence that he returned was the pair of muddied boots sitting in the corner waiting to be cleaned, yet there was not even a peep from the miqo’te. Not far into the house, Erenville picks up the sound of crackling flame from the living room before poking his head in to check if his partner is there instead.
He couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight before him. A nest of pillows and blankets was made underneath the window facing the front of the house, the glass already covered in frost and snow. What melted his heart was the person curled up at the center of the nest. Junior had fallen asleep on his side with the hood of his fat cat sweater pulled up to shield his face from the sun, but it had started to fall off during his nap and now a single ear poked out from under the fabric.
Erenvile makes sure to brush off the last snow from his person before creeping into the room. He took one steady step after another, closer until he was just an arm’s length away. Being this close he could spot the green-colored tail tucked under Junior as it wrapped loosely around for him to hold like a stuffed animal. The room was filled with purrs and he looked no different from a cat sunning in the afternoon light.
“Junior,” the word came out barely just a whisper, yet his ear slightly twitched at the sound. 
“Spíra,” this time a little louder and his eyelashes flutter as he rolls onto his back. 
“Strjana.” Only then did he let out a soft hum when his purring stopped. His eyes slowly opened and Erenville could watch as his brain began to register the world around him.
Not a second later, Junior’s attention focuses on him and the smile he got is enough to melt any snow.

Introduction:
Hi everyone! I decided to take it upon myself to make a sims 3 BACC that I felt satisfied with the rules and restrictions and done similar to BACCs that I've seen done for the sims 2 and 4. This is a living tumblr post and will continuously be updated as I play the challenge myself and see what fits for each restriction I have set. I am very much open to any feedback/opinions on anything regarding this challenge since I want it to be enjoyable to the simblr community and for those who have played the sims 2 BACC and were missing it for the sims 3. This challenge has mods in mind but if anyone would like, I am open to adjusting rules for a non-modded gameplay if needed.

Rules:
1. This challenge is meant to be played rotationally and every sim must be played. That also means that the households must be played the same amount of days to keep aging consistent across each household. Aging is also up to you. 2. Mods are recommended especially for having an easier way to do businesses, Ani’s Merchant mod is a great place to start. If desired I can provide alternate rules & restrictions for no mods gameplay. 3. Services may not be used until you’ve unlocked them, a smoke alarm isn’t allowed until you’ve unlocked the first position for the Firefighter career and the burglar alarm isn’t allowed until a branch has been unlocked in the Law Enforcement career. 4. Sims can own rabbit-hole lots and that can count towards a business, provided the sim has money for it. Though they can’t own a rabbit-hole and a sim-owned business at the same time, it has to be one or the other. 5. Skill-building items aren’t allowed to start off with until your sims earn the simoleons for it. 6. Sims aren’t allowed cars until there’s a car business in the town. Taxis aren’t allowed either until there’s a City Hall established. 7. Electricity isn’t unlocked until a sim has maxed the handiness skill. From there, one computer is allowed per household until an electronics business has been established. 8. When a computer has been unlocked, there are limitations to the build/buy category until the Architect career or a Furniture store has been established or that specific object has a business/rabbit-hole for it, like pet items needing a pet store or no bookshelf until there’s a bookstore, etc. Each household is only allowed to buy 2 items per rotation. However, it’s up to you how realistic and difficult you want your gameplay to be. 9. Boarding schools aren’t allowed until level 5 of the Education career has been unlocked. 10. Sims are allowed to sell items from their inventory. Rocks, gems, and metals can’t be sold in their inventory until the first two positions of the science career have been unlocked. 11. Custom careers are allowed, it's up to you how you want those restrictions set.

Starting Out:
You must start in an empty world or bulldoze the lots in a world. You’re only allowed residential homes for your sim and a small park as a free starting Community lot. You are free to start with a singular sim or roll a die and start with however many sims you roll and divide them into households or one singular household. There are different ways to start out your sim/sims: 
Start your sims with an empty lot and no simoleons
Start them with 10,000 simoleons to build small homes for them or you may start them with already built houses with the bare necessities and no skill building objects:
A fridge, counters, and a stove
Enough beds for all the sims
A couch and small table
A toilet, sink, and shower/tub
After a home has been established, set the household simoleons down to 100 to get started.

Unlocking Restrictions:
Each unlock, only gets 1 position open in a career. To keep advancing in a career and unlock all the positions, multiple sims need to max out the specific skill required for a career. Though there are different requirements for each career.
A few of the careers have different requirements for their branches, you may use the previous sims that had unlocked the earlier positions of the careers to unlock the next positions in the branches or use new sims to unlock the different branch positions depending on the requirement. This is the only exception to the previous rule.
Self-employed careers have different restrictions, those careers are unlocked fully when the requirements have been met. Active careers have the same requirements as Full-time careers.
Part-time careers get fully unlocked when the required building is achieved.

Full-time Careers
Business: Unlock the Political career and the first position of the Journalism career to unlock the first position of the Business career. Afterward, every time a sim-owned business is placed in the town, a new position is unlocked Criminal: The first position is unlocked at the start, for every 2 Law Enforcement positions, a new position in the Criminal career opens and if a household gets robbed, two new positions in the Criminal career open. Once you get to the branches, you must unlock one branch fully before starting the other branch Culinary: Max the cooking skill and complete one of the Culinary skill challenges Education: Every 5th sim born, a new position is unlocked Film: Have 5 rich households and have at least one sim with a 5-star celebrity status. After the first position is unlocked, every sim with 3 stars unlocks the next position --Acting Branch: Reach level 3 celebrity status and max the charisma skill --Directing branch: Reach level 3 celebrity status and max the writing skill Fortune Teller: The first position opens up when there’s a witch in the town. Every new witch, opens up a new position(can be an offspring or a new sim) --Mystic Branch: Must be a witch and max the alchemy skill --Scam Artist Branch: Must be a witch and max the charisma skill Journalism: Max the writing skill and charisma skill Law Enforcement: The first 2 positions are unlocked at the start, every 10 sims a new position is unlocked. Once you get to the branches, you must unlock one branch fully before starting the other branch Medical: Have at least 16 sims in the town and max the logic skill. After the first position has been unlocked, sims must continue to max the logic skill to unlock the other positions Military: Max the athletic skill and handiness skill Music: A new position opens up when the first music store business is created and a sim maxes out any instrument After the first position is unlocked, sims need to max out any instrument to continue unlocking additional positions --Rock Star Branch: Max out the guitar and drums skill --Symphonic Branch: Max out the piano and charisma skill Political: Max the charisma skill to unlock all positions - only 1 sim is allowed in this career Professional Sports: Max the athletic skill Science: Max the gardening, handiness, and fishing skill

Self-Employed & Active Careers
Acrobat: Have 3 sims in the town with the “Natural Born Performer” trait to unlock the first position, afterward sims must have the “Natural Born Performer” trait and max out the athletic skill to unlock the following positions Alchemist: Have 5 different occults in the town Angler: Have a sim complete the “Presenting the Perfect Aquarium” LTW Architectural Designer: Have sims max the handiness and painting skill Band: Unlock the first position of the Music career and have a sim complete the “One Sim Band” LTW Daycare: Every 2 positions of the Education career unlocked, unlocks a position of the Daycare career Firefighter: Every 3 fires unlocks 2 positions Gardener: Complete a Gardening skill challenge Ghost Hunter: Unlock the first position of the Science career. There must be at least one sim in the town with the eccentric trait and have at least 10 sims in the graveyard. After the previous requirements have been met, every time a sim maxes out the logic skill, a new position is unlocked Horseman/woman: Unlock the Pet Adoption service and have a sim adopt a foal and raise it to an adult to unlock this career Inventor: Max out the inventing skill and complete one of the skill challenges Investigator: Every 2 positions of the Journalism career unlocks a position of the Investigator career. Once the Journalism career is fully unlocked, then the Investigator career is also fully unlocked Lifeguard: Have 2 beaches and unlock the first 5 levels of the Athletic career Magician: Have a sim have a 2-star celebrity status and have 8 friends to unlock the first position. Afterward, every sim with a 2-star celebrity status unlocks the next position Nectar Maker: Max the visa level in France and the gardening skill Painter: Max the painting skill and gift 10 masterpieces to sims Photographer: Max the photography skill and have a sim-owned art gallery in the town Scuba Diver: Unlock the Lifeguard career and Angler career Sculptor: Max the sculpting skill and have the Architect career unlocked Singer: Have 3 sims in the town with the “Diva” trait to unlock the first position, afterward only sims with the “Diva” trait can unlock the following positions Stylist: Have sims max the painting and charisma skill Writer: Max the writing skill and write 2 autobiographies of any sims in the town

Earning CAS Sims:
There are different ways that you can earn sims to grow your population. You are free to save the CAS points to use to make a big household or use them as you go:
First Community lot unlocked: +1 sim
Each time you reach a multiple of 3 Community lots: +3 sims
Each time a Community lot is unlocked: +1 sim
First Business opened: +2 sims
Each time you reach a multiple of 5 maxed out skills: +1 sim
Every multiple of 10 households: +3 sims
Have 10 sim-owned businesses: +4 sims
Open up the first position for all the Base Game careers: 8+ sims
Other ways to grow your households:
Having babies the traditional way
Moving in an NPC service sim once you have it unlocked
Moving in a sim from a World Adventures world once you have it unlocked
Using the imaginary friend and turning it real

University:
To unlock University for your town, completely unlock the Education career and have at least 25 sims earn an A and get on the honor roll for both their child and teenage state. Additionally, you must collect taxes to unlock University. University costs 1,000,000 simoleons to unlock. The careers that come with University will be unlocked once the University also gets unlocked.

Travel:
For sims to be able to travel, you must collect 500,000 in taxes to unlock travel, unlock 7 services, and have at least 15 households. After traveling has been unlocked, your sims are free to travel anywhere without any further restrictions.

Taxes:
Taxes aren’t established until you have a City Hall in your town and a sim is in the Political career. Taxes will help contribute costs to unlocking the University and Travel for your town. You are also free to use mods to help with taxes as well and set them to your liking. Sims must get taxed on the last day of their household being played in a rotation. Sims that have 100 simoleons or lower are exempt from paying taxes.
Taxing households:
10% for regular households(households that don’t have any sims owning a business or rabbit-hole)
12% if sims in a household own a sim-owned business/rabbit-hole
15% for rich households
Taxing benefits:
If a household has only unemployed sims, they are given 130 simoleons
Single sims with children are given 150 simoleons
Parents with only toddlers are given 150 simoleons

Additional Notes:
I didn't set Into the Future restrictions since I personally don't send my sims into the future, so it's up to the player on how they want to set restrictions on that.
There's no proper/formal goal for this challenge compared to other BACC challenges. The only main goal is unlocking everything and there's no population multiplier besides the sim CAS points.
This challenge isn't meant to be hard or super difficult besides it being a long challenge. Your game is your game and you're allowed to change things to your liking to make it easy and fun for you to play. Like previously stated I am open to changing things to make them more fun and feedback is always appreciated!
