Becoming Animal

This was the main part of my thesis from last year, an exploration of my experience growing up being encouraged to leave behind the connection to nature I had as a kid, and now my journey into reforming that connection.

No te extraño, es sólo que la nostalgia, ciertas tardes, me respira en la nuca, confundiendo el dolor con algo bueno.

No te extraño, es sólo que, como las adicciones, acostumbrarse a un humano y cortar de tajo el contacto, también genera esa supresión de neurotransmisores.

No te extraño, es sólo que los domingos me invento razones por las que estar triste, y se cuela tu nombre entre los espacios de mis costillas.

No te extraño, es sólo la suma de los lugares donde estuvimos, las madrugadas con frío, el cine desvelados y los abrazos, que son más míos que tuyos igual que siempre.

No te extraño, es sólo la excusa para escribir sobre el desamor, para expresarme por algo, para ahogarme en un vaso de agua, sintiendo alguna tormenta y luego aliviarme con un rayito de sol.

No te extraño a ti, ni lo que fui contigo, extraño sentir alguna emoción que me mantenga viva.

No te extraño, no es amor, no eres tú, soy totalmente yo…
