Becoming Animal
This was the main part of my thesis from last year, an exploration of my experience growing up being encouraged to leave behind the connection to nature I had as a kid, and now my journey into reforming that connection.

Hi! I'm the artist of the trans horses and I wanna say thank you so much for reblogging it! I'm a huge fan of your art and especially minotaur work [unsurprising when you consider my love for zoocephaly in art haha] and like. Seeing you in my notes was one shot one kill, I'm so flattered!!! Thank you so much!
YEA THEY SLAP AND I LOVE THEM. TRANS HORSES

You ask him a question, "Does the chain hurt?"
Yes.
And what does the horse say back?
Yes.
What do you say?
"I'll take it out for you."
And he says?
"It never comes out. They have me in chains."
- Equus, 1977
An allegory for being trans masc. For learning and knowing yourself when others rather you didn't. When they value your offal and loathe your ivory.

When I was first socially transitioning, all the way back in high school, I reached a point where it felt like I had to carve my hair off with whatever was closest. I was in the kitchen, making dinner. I lost my resolve and sobbed over the stewpot.
My undercut, shaving it back, tying back my topknot, feels almost religious every time I enact that ritual.

The thing is, I'm wearing that horse's head, myself. All reigned up in old language and old assumptions, straining to jump, clean hoofed onto a holding track of being, I only suspect is there. I can't see it because my educated, average head is being held at the wrong angle, I can't jump because the bit forbids it. My own basic force, my - horsepower - if you like, is too little. That's what his stare has been saying to me all this time: 'At least I galloped - when did you?'

Here’s a wip for an animorphs related entry into my zoocephaly series :c
Still a lot of cleaning to do on the body, need to draw the leotard over the structure.
