So question, what exactly are Carbons in Mega Man Legends?

Because from what I understand, they’re basically this series’ equivalent to Robot Masters, or Reploids, or NetNavis, in that they’re the sentient robots, and they were also artificially created by humans. And I also know they’re definitely not human, because the Master is supposed to be the only human left. And also some of them have more mechanical parts, making them seem like robots

But also, they can age, seemingly like humans, and have actual families and bloodlines. So they’re not entirely inorganic either

So like, are Carbons supposed to be technological, organic, some mix of both? How does it work? It confuses me
