reg finally accepting a ride home from his co-worker james but traffic is so bad it takes them an hour and a half to get to reg’s place and first they fight over james’ music taste and reg is like let me put my playlist on and james loves it and they talk and talk the entire time and don’t even notice how long it took them and after that james keeps driving reg home and eventually they make a collective playlist to listen to and finally they go out and they date for a while and one day reg goes to james’ place and realizes they live so far aways and james drove him home not because it was on his way but just because he wanted to get to know reg

sirius black loves regulus more than james and remus combined. he would give his life and soul for regulus and he isn't even able to see it until after he's left, until after regulus had spat in his face and told him he hated him.

he cant let go of all the memories of regulus. there are so many nights at the potter's where he'll wake up from a creak in the house, and half expect a tiny "Siri?" from the door or to feel little hands and knees bruising his legs and ribs as he's climbed over. but it doesn't come anymore

it hasn't since christmas of his first year, when they got into their first real argument. but that doesn't make him miss regulus any less.

hearing that regulus hates him, that regulus would rather spend time with snape than with sirius hurts---and maybe it's meant to, maybe that's what he deserves---but it doesn't make him hate regulus.

he can't, he's tried. but by the time sirius is sixteen and begging the sibling who hasn't spoken to him in a year to leave with him, he knows he could never hate regulus.

sirius wasnt ever able to forget the little kid who crawled into his bed late at night, or the way regulus's first word was his name. he won't be able to push out the memories of seeing regulus smile---a real, genuinely happy smile--- at barty across the great hall his 7th year or the way regulus prefers toast for lunch rather than breakfast.

sirius wont ever stop making two sets of lunch toast out of habit. sirius wont be able to hate regulus's friends and boyfriend, and he makes sure to leave them out of pranks, even if regulus hates him and prefers crouch and rosier.

sirius spent his entire childhood protecting regulus, and now he doesnt know how to stop. even if he did, he wouldnt want to because no one in the world is as important to him than regulus

ok so i made a post last night abt how albus severus potter should be renamed to rubeus regulus potter and a pro snape person replied to it by saying; "Without Snape Harry would have died on the first book" and how snape is the embodiment of sacrifice and yeah sure he was a goodish guy in the end (i dont rlly remember how but for the sake of this post im going to keep talking) but just because snape died a somewhat heroic death (he didnt i agree with harry snape is a bloody coward) doesnt excuse the fact that snape was a major dick

he bullied all the children he saw as incompetent (ex: harry just bc he looked like his dad and he bullied neville to the point snape became neville's boggart at the age of 13 and alot of the students who werent in slytherin)

he hated muggles and muggle borns he was just as much as a bigot as avery and wilkes he was inlove *cough* obsessed *cough* with how lily made him feel smart and important bc he was her first exposure to the wizarding world and in a way he further pushed lily and petunia's relationship to end with how he treated petunia bc she wasnt magic

he was a fucking idiot like why would you listen to someone who hates you about going to the shrieking shack to find a werewolf like sirius probaby told snape bc he thought snape wouldve been smarter and wouldnt actually go (im not dismissing the fact that sirius told snape, it was wrong and he shouldnt have but snape almost dying there would definitely not have happened if he just stayed away like any smart person would)

and coming back to the snape being obsessed with lily thing like he didnt care that an infant and their family would be killed until he found out it was lily's family and (if i remember correctly) he was mainly begging dumbledore to save lily snape didnt give a shit about james and harry

bee drops her gaze when he talks about her father, saying he was missing out on his own daughter. she wants to believe him, she wants to believe that...but it's almost like accepting that amos diggory wasnt the man bee had always so deeply believed he was. when she was a little girl, her dad was her hero, like most kids...but maybe it was time for her to start growing up and realizing that her dad was no hero, after all what kind of father puts his own daughter on the back burner? remembering how sad she was her first day of school because he wasn't there to wave her off with her mother. she doesn't really know how to respond to his words, biting down on her bottom lip for a moment. "I just wish I could be his baby girl again..." she looks up at regulus as he continues on, a humorless laugh leaving her.

cedric, was the it boy of the school, everyone loved him even draco...when bee got here she was know as cedric diggory's baby sister, and sure it came with it's benefits, people wanting to befriend her and get to know her because her brother was so amazing and yeah she got attention from boys but for so long it didn't feel like she was getting the attention from the one boy she wanted more than anything else, regulus. "well, the only slytherin boy I care about is the one standing in front of me, but thanks...it does help a little." she smiles, trying not to laugh at his comment about hexing other boys for her even mentioning dean and the time he accidentally gave her an allergic reaction to the flowers he'd given her, regulus had saved her by giving her a special potion he brewed but dean had been sour ever since then, getting upset with bee for not telling him and making him look like an ass in front of the boy he swore wanted his girlfriend which now....he essbt exactly wrong about but what she remembers most is the wsy regulus made her smile that day, he cared so much about her, even he knew what she was allergic too. "you know me and dean broke up because he was so upset about how close I was too you, he swore you were torturing him because of me and I didn't believe him..." she smiles sadly. "in fairness to him I only dated him because I was using him as a distraction from you...if anything I deserved to have my throat swell up just a little for that." she jokes."but seriously you don't have to worry about anyone else in this entire world, you're the only one who has ever made me feel like this."

she regrets what she says almost as soon as she says it, an aching feeling in her chest the moment she sees the sadness in his sweet eyes. she knows better than anyone how important family is, how badly you want to hold it close but she also knows that real family wouldn't turn their back on you just because you decided to be happy above all else. wasn't that the end goal here? for your loved ones to be happy? to see your children go off and live their own dreams? it didn't seem fair that he had to shape himself to be some perfect son when he was already so wonderful. bee sighs softly, shaking her head, bringing her hand up to cup his face as thumb brushes against his soft skin. "you'll always have me..." she smiles softly "I mean, as long as you want me, I don't want me being in your life to break you and your family apart, I know how important they are to you but I'm never going to leave you regulus, not really because that's what love is, being by someone's side no matter what." gaze looks into his own for a moment before she pulls her hand back, a sad smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

bee shrugs a little, as if it isn't really a big deal because it shouldn't be. teenage girls could be cruel, everyone knew that, even though she didn't exactly do anything to daphne much less pansy to warrant such hatred. "it's silly, really...they just talk about my outfits or laugh at me behind my back when I pass them in the halls...." bee says, trying to hide the fact it does bother her a little. "last week I heard pansy telling daphne that my dress made me look fat and that I was only wearing it for male attention, it's all catty girl stuff." she frowns a little, biting down on her lower lip trying to ignore the tears that stung in her blue eyes. she didn't want him to feel bad because she let her silly feelings get in the way. "of course I cared regulus, I never stopped caring...but that doesn't mean it's your fault, you were doing what you were told too and I, I'm clearly not good at this whole crush thing because I've never done it before but I've always wanted to be with you, maybe I should've said something sooner and I'm sorry I didn't." he doesn't deserve to feel bad for someone else's choices, all he did was kiss his own girlfriend.

bee giggles at his words because it reminds her of the first day they met. "oh right, like when you asked me if I would hand feed you grapes...have you ever eaten something on your own before reggie?" she teases playfully. "hiding from the rest of the world together does sound nice though, doesn't It?" she smiles gently nudging his side, smirking softly as her eyes flicker up at him.

the night was perfect, not too cold and the stars were filling the sky like a million little fireflies glowing in the dark, she can't help but feel at home here especially with regulus next to her. "says the one literally named after one of the brightest stars." she giggles, trying not to blush too hard at his compliment but she can't ignore the sound of her heart beating either. he's so close in such a beautiful setting, her eyes flickering towards his lips as he talks. "really? I feel like she still gives me the stink eye sometimes." bee teases but she's at a loss for words when he says it's the best kiss of his life, making her press her lips together softly as if to restrain herself from needing to kiss him all over again. "it was the best day of mine too...I don't think a day has gone by where I haven't thought about your lips and how badly I want to feel them again. I hated the thought of you ever kissing anyone else the same way because I knew they would fall for you the way I did and...I couldn't imagine letting that happen." she says leaning in closer. "I want you to kiss me again."

It startles him a little each time, the way she talks about him. To Bee, he isn’t just a member of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, ancient Pureblood royalty with status and money to show it off. She talks about him like he’s just another person, not something to gossip about like the rest of the school. Ernie Macmillan once said that Regulus was only ahead of the class because he was a secret minion of You-Know-Who, along with the rest of the Black family ‘and that Sirius Black in Azkaban’. It was true to an extent, but what Ernie didn’t understand is that Regulus isn’t a threat to him or the school, instead wanting to follow the Dark Lord’s greatness to protect their world and make it better. But what would Ernie know about that, when his family didn’t care about mixing with the muggle world? Regulus is used to being misunderstood, gossiped about and envied. He’s used to turning heads in the corridors, making girls and boys alike watch him. But what he isn’t used to are Bee’s gentle blue eyes, gazing past every surface level he has and into his very soul, as if she can see everything that’s there and she cherishes him for it anyway. He’s never felt so safe… comfortable. And it should be ‘wrong’, according to his mother. 

“Your father is missing out, too,” he points out gently. “Maybe it doesn’t seem like it because you look up to him, but he’s a fool. You’re the most interesting and beautiful girl at Hogwarts… everyone knows it and he should be proud.” He looks away, green eyes sparkling with a sort of sadness for their lost time. He wishes he hadn’t wasted so much of it settling for Daphne all to impress his mother, afraid that Bee wouldn’t want him. How could she, when her house mates like Ernie talked so poorly of him? He never understood why people were so rash to think the Dark Lord was completely evil, as if people usually worked like that. All Regulus knew was his family, and they looked up to the wizard, praising his ideas about keeping them safe from muggles and protecting their family power. Regulus never thought of power as bad— their magic was sacred; something to cherish and be respected. When so many of their ancestors were lost in the witch hunts, it was all he could do to help make sure that never happened again. But how, he wasn’t so sure anymore… Bee’s mother deserved to be in their world just like she did, so what was the answer? If Voldemort lead them, would he protect them from the dangers of muggles that feared them? Or would he kill every last muggleborn, like Emma Diggory? The thought hurts him even more than the thought he’s unworthy of Bee, just like Ernie seems to think.

“I’m not saying Cedric isn’t great, but you underestimate how special you are. Do you even know how many people want you? Even other boys in Slytherin…” Sure, Bee is the quirky girl who is obsessed with creatures, but she’s also the hottest in the school and everyone seems to notice. Regulus can’t blame them, but he does get jealous, wishing he could shut them up because she’s only his. Even if she doesn’t know it yet. “Of course, I’d hex them if they tried to be with you…” He pouts a little, thinking about Dean again. “You don’t understand how much I had to hold myself back from hurting your ex– he didn’t even know what your allergies were.” It brings a disconcerted frown to his lips, hating that she was anything less than worshiped by that idiot.

One thing bothers him about what she says… about how he doesn’t need his family truly, and blood isn’t everything. He’s done everything for them and it’s almost impossible to imagine not having them in his life– what would it be like, for his mother to hate him so much she burned his face from her wall? Even the thought made his chest ache, tears stinging his eyes. He didn’t want to be alone… And Bee deserved more than to deal with him, a Death Eater, when she had so much life ahead of her that wasn’t tied up in a cult or an old, complicated family like his. “I’m top of my class and a Prefect and still don’t have peoples’ love, really… I’m not even sure my own girlfriend likes me. I’m just a tool for them, maybe with a pretty face. What if I have no one in the end, without my mother and father?” His chest aches because he wants her to say she’ll be there for him; love him. But he knows how much of an ask that is, especially when she doesn’t know the full story. Hell, he was fake, too– fake to Daphne, and everyone around him but Bee. How could he expect anything from others besides what he gave them?

The fact she cares enough to wish happiness for him should be enough; that the most beautiful girl in his world wants him to be happy. But it’s not. He needs her in ways he never could’ve anticipated… It’s a desire he can’t ignore any longer, regardless of what he’s doing to Daphne because of that. Maybe he doesn’t deserve anyone, with the way he’s been acting, but he doesn’t care. His heart wants what it wants, and if Bee wanted him too, why couldn’t he have her?

“They’ve been talking about you?” Regulus asks, brows furrowing because even the thought of Pansy and Daphne speaking about Bee makes him angry. “Saying what things, exactly? Is it because of me?” His special treatment towards the Diggory was obvious, with it being apparent to probably everyone in the school how badly he wants her. What he doesn’t expect is for it to have hurt her, seeing him kiss Daphne. He was so sure she had moved on from him, and yet watching her with Dean had ripped his heart from his chest. “I didn’t know that it was hurting you,” he says honestly. “I never wanted to hurt you.” He frowns, hating that he did and hating himself for it. “But my heart was broken, thinking you didn’t care…”

Only Bee could feel sorry for Mrs. Norris like he did– another reason why it felt like they were meant to be. Why was everyone else so determined to hate the cat because of Filch’s actions? “I wish you would do that for me… Maybe I’ll become an animagus and hope that my form is a cat. I would rather lounge in your lap and be fed sardines the rest of my life than face the rest of the world.” He wishes he could hide away with her; his only real safe space. If that’s even what she wants with him, after all of this.      

She looks beautiful, how he walks to the railing and tilts her head back, immediately looking at the stars overhead. Hogwarts is the most beautiful place on Earth, with a view of the sky and mountains that was unbeatable. The Forbidden Forest is something special; so special that he’s always loved breaking the rules to visit it with Bee. “I think about it, too… Being alone with you, especially up here. The view is almost as beautiful as you are.” He smiles at her a little softly, walking up to stand beside her next to the railing. “Hermione seems to have forgiven me for that… Maybe it had something to do with my perfect grades, or when I rescued her and her friends from Draco. But I still haven’t forgiven her for interrupting the best kiss of my life.” He looks at Bee up and down almost shyly, stepping towards her. “That day on the train is my best memory.” He felt safe; happy, in love… all with the incredible girl he’d just met.

My take on Sev\erus Sn\ape. After all those years

I am aware of all his flaws. He had a rough childhood and never had anyone who would help him grow into a better person or give him a personality that would help him change. But that doesn’t excuse any thing he ever did throughout the series.

He was selfish and petty, and though he loved Lily, it was the only thing that brought any good out of him. And yet the reason he loved her, im  pretty sure, was that she was the only person he knew and was close to, and also because she made him feel human and he may have always wanted to be with her because she brought out good things in him, with her kind and sweet personality. He wanted to be around her because it would make him feel less lonely and make him feel good. He didnt want to be there for her, at least intially it never crossed his mind.  His love toward her also stems from him not wanting, not willing to change. He only knew Lily, and only wanted to be with her. He didn’t want to put any effort in changing that and looking at anyone else. He wanted Lily all to himself, even if it was bad for her. He was extremely jealous and he hated admitting he was wrong, he shifted blame on others, and even when he was confronted by her he kept excusing himself.

Even when he went too far and she cut ties with him, he felt he had the excuse to call her an extremely hurtful slur “mudblood”. He tried to get back to her even after he crossed the line and hurt her deeply, instead of holding himself accountable and realizing she deserves to be treated right. Not to mention his highly hypocritic attitude of calling every muggleborn a slur and treating them like they’re not human, yet only being nice to Lily, not caring to realize how mean this attitude is and how it makes Her feel. 

His love for her didnt change him at all, because he only cared about his own feelings, because he wasn’t willing to change for Lily, because he loved her out of his own pettiness and obsession. His feelings were centered around himself and what he saw and felt.  James Potter was a bully and a spoiled kid. But what people often gloss over is the thing he did what Sn\ape didn’t. James changed himself for Lily, because he loved her in a way that let him recognize and reflect on her feelings and what she wants. James was a jerk, he did bad things, he was a bully, but he made that part of himself his past, for Lily. 

Sn\ape didnt change himself for her nor for anyone, nor for himself, he chose to stay the way he is because he didnt feel the need to look into himself and maybe realize there are things he could have made different because what he does hurts Lily. He kept going the path he started . Maybe he knew he was wrong but he still didnt change.

The reason S\nape threw everything he started, away, and sworn to Dumbledore to protect Harry, was because Sn\ape hated himself for being the cause of Lily’s death. He grieved and was in a lot of pain, and he hated himself most but he chose to self destruct rather than become better and heal to not repeat the same mistake again. It was his choice. 

His self-hatred has become the core of his character ever since Lily perished. If he had decided to make up for his mistakes and learn from them, he would have changed what made him make those mistake he had made, and grow as a person. If he had loved Lily in a way that included her feelings in his mind, he would have looked at Harry differently. He would have become slightly better, he would have chosen to act differently and he would have been able to see things in a kinder light. But he chose to drown in self-hatred, he chose to hate himself and let it be the only feeling in his life. He subconsciously chose to hurt himself by making himself think that Lily’s son was a copy of the person who bullied him, instead of seeing Harry as someone different from that. Sna\pe hated everyone because of choosing to let his hate be the only feeling.

Sn\ape chose to betray lord Voldemort and death eaters, Not because he didnt want to be a death eater anymore. Not because he no longer shared their values.

He was into dark magic, he actively supported death eaters even when Lily was alive. Did it change? Did he decide he hates dark magic? Did he decide he hates death eaters? No. In fact, his values never changed, he never turned his back on them out of principle.

He did it because he still saw himself as a death eater. He still had same values as them. He followed them. But he chose to betray them because he chose to destroy himself.

Working for Dumbledore was a way to punish himself for having been the reason Lily was killed. I know he later on complained to Dumbledore that he puts so much effort in being a double agent and putting himself in danger, but thats because his human selfishness was speaking out (working hard and being upset its being taken advantage of)

In a way, protecting Harry was the only reason for living for S\nape. But he didnt do it because it was truly his reason for living, He didnt see Harry as his reason for living. He did it all to make up for what he did, and sort of take revenge on himself. Not even on Voldemort. It was never stated that S\nape hated Voldemort. In fact, he never did even after he killed Lily. The only possible explanation is that Sn\ape blamed himself for her death.

Sn\ape didnt atone for anything he did with the intention to make things better: to clear Lily’s name, to save her son she loved dearly. he only chose to do it all to feed his own hatred. In the end, the only person he saw, was himself. He didnt “see” Lily, he didnt “see” Harry, Dumbledore, Voldemort.  “I am the reason she died”  “I am the one to blame” “I hate myself” “I am in pain” “It all happened to me” “Lily meant a lot to me”

Sn\ape hated himself and took out all of his hatred on everyone around him.

IF Sn\ape could see Lily’s feelings and care about them, he would have looked at Harry and wonder how Harry feels and what troubles him. If Sna\pe’s love made him try to see what was important to Lily and not only to him, he would have tried to see James and Harry in different light and maybe let go of his petty hatred towards them. He would have at least tried to open up his “black curtains” a little bit and put down his pettyness and old grudges.

Sn\ape didnt think about letting go of his grudges even if they hurt Lily. He chose to dive deeper into them and hold them close to his heart, even when he had a person who brought out the good in him. He could have a lot of reasons to act that way, he had bad past, he was bullied, and maybe all that were the factors of why he chose to put his grudges and hatred above what was important to the person whom he loved. But the fact still stands: he chose that. 

His bad past doesn’t excuse all the things he has done later on as an adult. It can be understood, but not excused. It didnt give him the right to do what he did. The reason why Sn\ape is interesting, is not because he is good or misunderstood. It is because his story is tragic and human. He is very flawed. He is selfish. He is full of grudges. he chose to stay stagnant instead of growing. That is what made him so unique. He was the tragic character that never got to change and chose to self-destruct instead. 

He wasnt like Harry, who grew and changed and healed after everything that had happened to him. He wasn’t like Ron, who chose to grow out of his jealousy and pettiness at being the last at everything. He wasn’t like Slughorn, who tried to learn from his mistake and grief and be at least braver than he used to be. He wasn’t like Regulus Black, who actually realized his faults and that Voldemort is wrong. 

His actions and motivations were purely emotion-driven. But his emotions weren’t pure. Sna\pe stands out among all HP characters because he was one of the few who didnt change as people while managing to change everything.

regulus black learned 20 years before everyone about the horcruxes. did he share the information? nah. by keeping that information a secret, he let the war carry on for 20 years. for no reason. information is the most important currency in a war, that's why spies are a risk people take. regulus was responsible for 20 years of unnecessary deaths. maybe i'm jaded bc i lived in war zones and i literally saw the cost of war, that's why i hate the rich bigoted slave owner.

honestly i think it was it wasnt entirely the fact that regulus his the secrets of the horcruxes that caused the war and even if he wanted to tell people who would he tell?? hes a death eater and being part of the black family and being in slytherin people automatically assumed he was a death eater or knew it, so if he came up to them saying hey i found a way to bring down voldemort out of the blue who was to say that theyd trust him because honestly nobody would have believed him and i doubt Sirius would have as well like they ended on a bad note like both of them wouldve grow apart when Sirius left the black house to live with James and therefore lost most form of contact with his brother and therefore his trust. okay im stopping now but people dont seem to realise i put “this is my opinion” in the original post

Starts with jegulus, except it starts out with Regulus being very very emotionally invested in James because he hates him.

James stole Sirius. It's James' fault their parents are never happy. And on top of that James pays him no attention at all. There's always a danger of fancying him, when Regulus first heard about James through Sirius everything about him was positive, even if Reg was mostly jealous. And it definitely becomes a crush as he gets older: it's hard to be obsessed with someone who's your type in every way without fancying them.

As i said James initially doesnt notice him, at least outside of quidditch, but eventually, around the time Sirius leaves home, James starts checking up on him on Sirius' behalf. Reg is not receptive to that but it gets James' attention on him and after a particularly attractive display of flying skill that becomes a crush on his end too.

They get together mostly by accident when James is trying to have another check up/intervention. But they never have a proper conversation about politics. James struggles with seeing the world as pretty black and white, so him seeing that Regulus isnt ~evil~ makes him too willing to ignore his politics because he thinks maybe he's rescuing a purely good person from evil manipulation and lets it go too much. Regulus avoids the topic because he knows they'll break up over it. I dont imagine he thinks he can convert James.

Jily are becoming friends in the background of this. Post friendship end with Snape, Lily can see that James isnt just throwing his power around for fun and he genuinely thinks he's a hero fighting evil. He's not as wrong as she thought he was but he still lacks a nuanced perspective. She also lacked perspective though, seeing herself and Snape at the same end of the class spectrum compared to say, James and Avery, and seeing that as the most important social struggle and thus ignoring the xenophobia and racial supremacy going around.

Jegulus get way too involved way too fast, James is ready to marry him, Regulus is not keeping the distance he intended to, instead James is the centre of his happiness which is bad because thats supposed to be his family. Regulus unexpectedly (from James perspective but definitely not his) breaks up with James because he knows his duties to his family and community conflict with their relationship and James' values. He doesnt want to be broken up with so he does it himself that way he can act like he had control over it and feel like a good person for choosing to give up something important to him for his family and 'the greater good'. They are very much still in love but James has to realise he didnt have a great grasp of who Reg was as a person. Either way James is very upset and wasnt expecting it.

Without being stuck with an obligation of loyalty to Snape Lily gets to admit to herself she likes James. Theyre friends with insane romantic tension for a while and Lily keeps expecting him to make a move but he doesnt, partly because of his recent breakup and partly because she refused him last time and he doesnt want to ruin the friendship by pushing the question again. In the end she asks him and he agrees but wants to go a bit slower and calmer so he can do it right this time (whether this works or not is up to you).

Then either I'd have a regulily acquaintanceship to friendship building in the background. Bonding at slugclub or over sibling issues which could bring reg back into the fold and you have canon divergence there. Or I'd leave it at that for a bit with jily together and have there be a gap where Reg sorts himself out before he comes back into their lives (later canon divergence) and you get jegulily then.
