Hey, I have a question. You seem to know a lot about RDR2 and I need some help understanding something. I also have the iron gray roan Ardennes and I was wondering if it's only available in your first playthrough or if I'll have it again in my second? I haven't finished my first playthrough because I'm procrastinating the ending lol I started playing RDR2 in January so I'm fairly new to how this stuff works.

Olivia's horse, Magnus

Even though she couldn't remember much, she remembered that gorgeous Clydesdale, Magnus. The horse she had since they both were so little. Logan had found the Clydesdale at a local stable, a young foal nobody wanted because he was so stubborn and so scared, yet Magnus and Olivia connected quick. Maybe it was because Olivia knew what it was like to be scared in a world that didn't understand you or even want to, or maybe it was due to the fact that Olivia shared Logan's unique ability to emotionally connect with an animal.

Even now, Olivia knew this horse. He was the one thing she could remember; the tight-knit connection they shared was undeniable and it alone helped her realize that she truly was the woman everyone claimed she was. Because if she knew at least one creature from her life before the amnesia, that was more than enough to prove to her that she belonged with the Van der Linde gang.

Whoopsies. I disappeared for a bit! I've been a tad busy, between trying to get a new computer, making summer plans, and playing RDR2, I just got side tracked.

Anyways; this is Olivia's horse, Magnus, as the blurb explained. Magnus is an auburn Clydesdale with white and black patches. He's actually very heavily inspired by the main horse I have for Arthur which is a big Ardennes with very similar markings. I like to think that Magnus and Cadet (Arthur's horse) are BFFLs because it's funny to me how two very intimidating horses for two very intimidating people can be besties for life.

I don't know why my brain wanted me to this, so here's the 141 fellers + Alejandro, Rudy and König as RDR2 horses (or horses in general) because why the fuck not! No one asked for this!

1. Captain Price is definitely a Mustang, but the Tiger Striped Bay coat, or maybe the Black Overo coat mustang. I was gonna put an Arabian, but he's 100% Mustang energy

2. Soap is a Missouri Fox Trotter in the Silver Dapple Pinto coat, or any Missouri Fox Trotter for the matter. Sassy horses.

3. Gaz is also a Mustang in the Red Dun Overo coat, or the Spotted Tricolor Norfolk Roadster

4. Ghost is debatable, but he's definitely a Breton in Grey Steel or the Iron Grey Ardennes. Mostly because of its built, but any muscular looking horse will do. Perhaps the Splash White American Paint

5. Alejandro has Marble Sabino Criollo energy because look how beautiful it is!

6. Rudy gives off Dark Bay, Turkoman energy, or Sorrel Overo, Criollo energy.

7. König on the other hand, is the Shire horse in any coat! So here it is in Raven Black. A giant horse for a giant man!

So I normally favor a shire horse named Bully in my RDR2 playthroughs.

I'll branch out on occasion. There was J Edgar (a Turkoman mare. Yes the name has a story), Gentle Buffoon (a Kentucky Saddler I stole off an O'Driscoll. Bonus points if you know why she's named that), Lightning (the white Arabian), Thunder (a big grey Ardennes), Tank (Belgian draft), and a few others but I always come back to Bully.

Well.

Current playthrough I got a handsome looking Andalusian.

And someone earned their name.

Her name is "Sorry Bastard" (yes I modded out the profanity filter)

Sorry Bastard has:

Ragdolled while slowly walking across a bridge

Ragdolled suddenly while standing still

Thrown Arthur down a cliff

Thrown herself AND Arthur down a cliff and then LANDED on Arthur

Went ass over tea kettle near the trapper at Riggs station (I think a pebble offended her??? Idk) and nearly landed on Arthur

Somehow wandered while I was at the trapper in Saint Denis and got into a courtyard many blocks away???

Can and will spook at any snake in a ten mile radius. Or nothing. Usually spooks at nothing.

17 when he joins the gang and 21 when the events of the game begin.

Has an Ardennes horse called River. It's got an iron grey roan coat and is a gentle giant around most camp members (not including Micah).

He's good friends with Sean and Lenny as they're some of the youngest gang members, so they go on missions together whenever they can.

Before Charles joined the gang he was the one who mainly hunted food for the gang. Of course others hunted from time to time, but he was the main hunter. After Charles joined, the two sometimes hunt together if a big hunting trip is needed for the gang, like after a big move to a different camp.

He does also work as a gunman as he doesn’t need to be hunting constantly - so he joins in on a fair few train and coach robberies with several gang members.

He saw Dutch as a good and fair leader at first when he joined the gang, aligning with the gangs morals at the time, of freedom and not agreeing with the strict laws of government that only serve to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

He looks up to Hosea and Arthur as role models of sorts. While he deeply respects Dutch as the leader of the gang and the one who welcomed him in, Hosea is known to act very fatherly to most camp members, Fletcher included. Arthur also looks out for the younger members of the gang, with Sean insisting that Arthur is like a big brother to them all.

My thoughts on RDR2

Long post. If you want to know some of my stats and my thoughts after playing Red Dead Redemption 2 keep reading. :) Slight spoilers

So I fell in love with this game. When RDR2 first released, I would watch some streamers play the game. I never watched a full play through. However, I knew what to expect. I knew that Sean, Hosea, and Lenny died, and I knew that Arthur dies towards the end and that you play as John in the epilogue. What I did not know was all the story in between. I initially got this game when it was on sale because I wanted to ride horses in a game 😂. I never thought that I was going to become so invested in the story and care so much for the characters. Very few games have moved me as much as RDR2 has.

The graphics and the amount of detail in this game are amazing. (My PS4 would sound like a jet about to take off lol). This game made me feel anger, happiness, and I was full on sobbing when Arthur got diagnosed with TB and when he died. I ended up with about 177 hours into the game and 92% completion. I played as high honor Arthur.

My four horses as Arthur were the male black shire you get from Hosea named Facundo, the female silver dapple pinto from the arcadia for amateurs named Rua, the male warped brindle arabian named Rapidash, and my favorite wild bay mustang male named Spirit (yes after the movie). For a while I had a brown leopard blanket male named Calem, but he was too skittish for my liking so I got Rua. I ended Arthur’s story with Spirit because he was my beautiful brave horsie boy (yes I cried when he died). 

My favorite main missions were the ones where you rescue Sean in Blackwater, the one when you rescue the Reverend from the train, the train robbery mission (pouring forth oil I think its called), and obviously drinking with Lenny. My favorite side missions were the Hamish Sinclair missions, the oh brother missions, the widow missions, the gunslinger missions, and the arcadia for amateurs missions. My favorite places to visit were Valentine (probably because it was the starting town idk) and the lavender fields by Little Creek River.

As John I sold Rachel and bought the male strawberry roan ardennes named Valiente, the female silver turkoman named Moonshine, I got a female Overo American paint named Rain (yes also after the Spirit movie), and a female blue roan nokota named Io.

At first it felt weird playing as John, but towards the end I got used to him being the playable character. I loved that we got to see Charles, Sadie, and Uncle again. I loved the building of Beecher’s Hope with Charles, John and Uncle (I was laughing so hard).

After some thinking I believe that Red Dead Redemption 2 is now my new favorite game. The amount of detail, the story and the characters just hit the spot and make it a very good game. I finally see now why people love this game so much. I recommended it to my brother and friends but they are not into the “cowboy/ outlaw” aspect of the game. (they are missing out). Assassin’s Creed III will always have a special place in my heart because it was my favorite game for a long time but the amount of love and care that I have for RDR2 surpasses that of AC III.

Now that I am done with the game, I was thinking about trying RDO but I saw the news about the funeral held for it and I don’t know whether to hop in or not. I will likely hop in and give it a try to see if it is for me or not. I’m not huge on online games unless I have someone to play with but we will see.
