Not every criticism of bi women's behavior is about biphobia.

Many bi women feel insecure in their queerness, fear that they're not queer enough because they are in a relationship with a man or generally date men.

I'm sorry you don't feel queer enough, but it's not my role as a lesbian to validate your queerness. You are valid, you are still queer, but you seem to prioritize and center your validity over the very tangible danger others face in the LGBT community for being visibly queer and therefore at risk of homophobic and transphobic violence and systemic life threatening discrimination.

You keep saying you are afraid "the big bad queer community" will exclude you for being with a man, and it's a euphemism because really you mean "lesbians" in particular. Most LGBT people are bi actually. You outnumber lesbians, we couldn't "exclude" you if we tried----and we're Not trying. We simply do not relate to your experience. Why insist on demanding validation from lesbians?

Queer singer Fletcher who built her whole career singing about loving women to an audience of lesbians and bisexuals just released a song called "Boy" about how she fell in love with a boy and the new album will be called "Would you still love me if you really knew me?".

In pride month. Presenting it as a brave liberating moment against the big bad lesbians. In June, the month dedicated to our fight against systemic homophobia and transphobia---which, newsflash, bi people are ALSO subjected to. How is that respectful to the community in any way? How insensitive and dense and desperate for publicity do you have to be?

Pride is a protest. Pride is not a generic "love is love" celebration. There are actual people at risk, in danger. This is not the time to center "being valid".

I will hold your hand as I say this. Sabrina is an adult woman who likes to make tongue-in-cheek music about luring and murdering men. Her persona since the last album cycle has been very femme fatale—feminine, pretty, cutesy, sexy, kinky, small, submissive in bed, wants a prince charming, also direct, non-conforming, frightening, intelligent, scheming, ruthless, might poison you, callous, player, comedienne. The man on the cover doesn’t even look like Sabrina’s general type, or particularly romanticised. He feels more symbolic of “posh rich old man who has no idea I’ll eat him alive”.

We’re circling back dangerously close to policing women’s sexuality as a political tool, both from the left and the right and it is not a good thing. Our implicit puritanical expectation of white women is already weird (and racist on the flip side when we regard BIPOC women as inherently sexual). Let women exist and own their sexuality in peace without politicizing it. Conventional femininity isn’t inherently unfeminist, even when it is performed for a masculine partner and not just “for the girls”. We can’t make this mistake again, we moved on from and built nuance upon the exclusionary principles of second-wave feminism for a reason. We’re not doing 4B. We’re not doing political lesbianism. We all have valid big feelings lately but we have to take a deep breath and stop projecting them onto minor media aesthetics and optics, and instead channel it into real community work. Read a book.

what’s bonkers to me is the number of so-called “progressive” people using “this political climate” as a way to tell women they’re not allowed to express themselves and make their own choices about their sexuality. sabrina carpenter shouldn’t be publicly kinky (if we can even call it that!!) because of the political climate. what will men think? FLETCHER shouldn’t share about her relationship with a man and her new understanding of herself as bisexual because of the political climate. what will straight people think?

if you genuinely believe people with marginalized identities should limit their self expression because people in the privileged classes will possibly misunderstand or use their expression incorrectly, you’re just repacking respectability politics.
