reading that Tarantulas and Prowl processor overload ask has revived one of my recently dormant fetishes
(this is an expansion on the forced porn download ask actually, wasn't really done b4 sending)
Prowl's archives just being a massive database of miscellaneous data, which seems like a fully practical thing that he'd do for simulation work at first glance, but in truth, he just never deletes anything because he gets off to the feeling of being just sooooo full in places no physical sensation can reach.
He wasn't always like this, you see. Prowl used to maintain good software management habits. He'd defrag according to a strict schedule, used connection buffers often and cleared his processing queues before recharge. He would never think twice about netdiving into shady websites with nasty popups, let alone download anything from there. But eventually, as his processors develop at that exponential pace his handlers noticed upon bringing him online, Prowl got bolder.
Bold enough to make a slip up and plug into a corrupt mainframe, triggering that forced download and kickstarting his fetish for good. He barely remembers anything about that incident other than an overwhelming mental barrage of arousal. Sometimes Prowl wonders if his colleagues at the time knew just what was literally going through his head as he slumped over on the console, seizing in place as they frantically tried to disconnect him safely. Maybe they caught the scent of his overload under his panels, and chose not to say anything.
Prowl would of course say that he was perfectly fine after that incident, but he'd be haunted by that instance of utter bliss he'd felt when like 30 terrabytes of ERP chatlogs and erotic flashgames burned through his neural circuitry. Eventually, he'd start by visiting a library. Full of clean and safe data to indulge in. Then he started logging all non-confidential precinct data, like routine security footage that's get deleted anyways, and dispatch call recordings. Then he started downloading from legal websites, then onto not so legal ones.
He even has backup and extra hard drives stored in his office and habisuite in plain sight, since no one else but other archivists and data specialists would catch on to his kink in the first place. Every once in a while, he'd plug himself into all these units and just let all that data flood through him, his fans and cooling systems squealing in effort to keep up with the deluge of information forcing it's way through his staticy brain, reducing his overclocked cognitive units into jello as his RAM gets consumed by pure uncontrollable math.
He loves the feel of his mind being pounded by googols of nonsense, it makes him hornier than anything else. He'd save anything from the internet, books and numeric databases are his usual go tos; high definition media are a must, the more graphically and audially intensive the better; the most unoptimized and performance heavy video games, anything that would fill up his hungry battle computer until it's full to bursting and melting.
Sometimes when he feels extra naughty, he'd even fire up the various malware and viruses the Spec Ops team would bring back, on top of all the seedy ones he'd find online. He'd trigger them in his processor and lie back in his berth, finger his fluttering pussy and feel the malicious software start tearing through his brain as his battle computer instinctively fights back, making him feel soooo hot all over. And every time he overloads, it sweeps all of his progress, and the self cleaning protocols will just have to restart as he writhes helplessly in the dark of his room.
Software sanctity? Fuck that, he'd hit anything as long as it demolishes his brain and make him into a silly, messy, spasming horny mess. A real dataslut.
god this is so good. He's quite literally overloading his processor out. It's almost like an addiction. Of course, Prowl could stop any time he wants... he could, he just doesn't want to! After a while, pumping his head full of junk data and malicious viruses is the only way Prowl can even have a fulfilling orgasm. Being full of miscellaneous data is just not enough. It's a pleasant pressure in his constantly calculating brain, yes, but if he wants to cum, he needs something stronger. He'll keep frying his brain inside of his helm as long as he gets to feel that electrifying thrill of his battle computer struggling to deflect the attacks on his mainframe.
It feels like he's falling apart at the circuits, delicate wiring so hot that it's disintegrating into dust, and all he can do is frantically rub his soaking wet valve through it all, optics bright and staring off into space as his HUD floods with nonsense. All his senses are completely taken over by the foreign malware, all he knows is that he feels so good.
Honestly, I wonder what would happen if he got stuck like that. Just for a day or two. And someone had to find him in his apartment, face twisted in pure bliss as his frame keeps twitching even after countless hours of continuous overloads. Of course, Prowl's processor gets cleaned out after that, yet he can't help but want to repeat it... to feel so absolutely stuffed and overwhelmed with data that he's just a wet, helpless thing. To give up control and let his processor sink into endless pleasure.
But for now, he's got a morning shift at the precinct to finish.

Tell me about Vance 🫵
thank u for giving me this opportunity to introduce you to vance my love my light v(ance). it's. a long one. a very long one
vance is a gay transgender man who grew up in a corporate family. his mother n father had met while working for arasaka counterintel during the 4th corpo war and had vance and his sister maya shortly after the war ended. they owe arasaka their comfortable, safe lives; if it weren't for their loyalty to the megacorp, they'd have been crammed into some rundown megabuilding alongside a thousand other poor, working class night citizens.
a lot of things started to change for vance when he turned 15. he realized he was transgender and confided this in maya, who had suggested his first chosen name: he started going by penn when he started his education at arasaka academy.
this was also the year he received an official, albeit beginner-level, cyberdeck. it's a hard implant for someone so young, but he had expressed an interest in tech and the NET years beforehand; why not let him hold the beauty of it in the palm of his hand?
he had jumped at the opportunity. he had always wanted it; why not accept it, now that he's been told he could have it?
he began to see his small world for its interlocking machinations. began to understand the little bits of code fluttering inside every piece of tech in the city. with the cyberdeck linked up to his neural systems, night city's buzzing got louder and louder, until the ever-present drone started keeping him up at night.
it would follow him throughout all his years in the academy—right until he graduated and arrived on arasaka's doorstep at the age of 19, newly transitioned and unaware of the other, freer paths the world might've had for him.
they took the beginner deck they had given him four years prior and began building him a new one.
a new deck required new implants. some of these were necessary, at first: a black steel spine to shoulder the weight of the deck, for example.
but over time, as vance excelled at every task they had given him, and then some—arasaka began to wonder: could they make him into something beautiful, in its intricacy, something impossible?
the average netrunner looks like their profession; technosights; jumpsuits; the seams for their cyberware running through their skin.
arasaka wanted to create something different—something covert. the most innocous of people; a tech weapon the nusa government themselves would kill to have (but how little they really knew).
vance's handlers proposed this plan to vance himself, there seated in arasaka's basement; they were, in some aspects, honest about what they wanted for him. they wanted him to be dangerous. they wanted him to be good. they vowed that they would be by his side throughout the whole process, the promise as loyal as vance had decided to be the first time he put on his uniform.
so he agreed—to all of it.
they started slow.
the steel spine traded for titanium; an expansive cyberdeck with more ram capacity; pulmonary implants to keep up the processing power; other organs traded for their mechanical counterparts, to ensure their safety when vance overclocks his systems.
vance became eerily familiar with arasaka's in-house chop shop. the ripperdoc there, boone vasco, put him under the knife time and time again—each major procedure had been carefully scheduled a few years apart. but vance wasn't just arasaka's pet project; on the side, he was their assassin. their ghost, trickling through the neon-drenched gutter that is night city, slaughtering anyone that needed zeroing.
a little hack there, an iron pressed up against someone ribs here.
he flatlined some disgruntled, middle-class corpo rat, some pencil pusher, who thought all it took to delta out of the corp had been booking the fuck out of the city with little else but both his family and several canisters of CHOOH2 in tow.
as far as anyone is concerned, maybe they did make it across the border.
or maybe they could've just made it, had they been faster; smarter; had they stayed to begin with.
maybe.
vance ran ops in and out of the nusa; his file will never see the light of day, not for all the eddies in the world. there's shit on there that'd start coups; destroy what little they've all built to keep. there are just some things that will always stay between him and the corp. they owe him that much.
when he wasn't out on the field, he was chasing novice netrunners out of arasaka's intranets.
eventually he had gained enough implants that the skin on his torso and back began to run warm—too warm. these were the days where he'd run ops feverish and slow. these were the days his own systems would fail him.
letting the machines breathe out in the open would've defeated vance's entire purpose; they had to get creative.
enough of these slip ups led to an entire torso's worth of a realskinn graft. arasaka had taken the market variant and specifically modified it so that it would allow vance (and his systems) to cool down faster. it's like a mesh rather than skin, soft enough to pass as the latter, but with pores big enough to remind one of the former.
they peeled the organic skin off his back and chest and replaced them—slowly, carefully—with this unique version of realskinn.
it took vance a long time to recover; for his body to accept this skin-like facade as its own.
--
because of the nature of his work, arasaka had thought it best to keep his existence a secret from the people beneath him in the pecking order. as far as they were concerned, vance was in a class of his own—just as adam smasher is his own unit, in a sense. still arasaka's; still a product of their patronage; just with a false sense of independence and superiority above everyone else, as if they're not all wearing the same tags.
vance had found a friend in someone like him; her name was veronica. she was a weapon, too—more blatantly, however, and certainly more of a physical, immediate threat that secrecy would've been a waste of more realskinn.
they often snuck out of work when they could—they took any and all measures to ensure that they didn't look anything like what arasaka had made them into. they went to bars. concerts. they breathed with the rest of night city—for the first time in a very long time.
--
the year is 2076. vance has been in arasaka's ranks for 12 years. he is 80% realskinn and the only truly organic parts left are on his arms, legs, and face. he is still arasaka's top dog; he is still their hound, loyal on a short leash. he still hears the world as loudly as they want him to.
but one, slow night in the basement, his handlers begun to talk—not to him, but amongst themselves. they didn't know he had left a little virtual watchtower for himself in the mikoshi chamber; the one place where he wasn't allowed to be.
he had spent 12 years as their model of what the perfect netrunner should and could be: covert, dangerous, and a powerful piece of tech.
he had spent 12 years as the first in a potentially long line of others.
they could've started sooner, more efficiently; they could've rolled out 3 generations in 12 years, not just the one.
one of the techies claims trial-and-error; there had been many times where certain implants had made vance violently ill. they had had to roll back. his recovery had been a necessary delay time and time again.
another agrees: one generation for twelve, another 2 in half that time. why not stop complaining and start now, with all the information gathered thus far?
and what'll we do with him?
the techies gathered around the room didn't have to answer for vance to understand his own obsolescence.
he had given them 12 years of his life; he had given them the skin off his back; he had told himself that every time he chose arasaka, he was choosing out of his own desire to be good.
what good comes of something past its expiration date?
--
he hadn't been the only arasaka pet project to be thrown out. veronica, too, was going to have her implants traded out so that they may go to the faster, newer generation of her kind.
together, they worked fast; they pulled every string that they had had the foresight to weave around night city; they created a small team of mercs to ferry them out of arasaka HQ; among them was vance's contact, jackie welles.
not many mercs were open to going toe-to-toe with a megacorp like arasaka—but if vance scrambled all the data concerning himself and veronica from their escape, then no one would ever be the wiser. to anyone on the outside looking in, it'd just look like they were stealing equipment from a shipyard.
--
i won't go into too much detail about the escape; only that it was long, tedious, and had left its marks on the both of them—physically and mentally.
in 2076, veronica and vance disappeared from arasaka's ranks, carrying within themselves the unique, stolen implants that made them who they are.
in 2077, they were beginning to live their own lives again.
vance changed his appearance; scrubbed all traces of himself from the NET, if any at all; tried to find his footing in the city that had heard of him only in the bodies he had left behind.
he looked over his shoulder a lot, those first few weeks he had spent lying low in mama welles'. he had been averse to any and all touch; he still craved it, however. that soft affection that demanded of him nothing but to let himself have it.
the hand brushes from jackie; the way mama welles would pat his cheek or fix his hair (even if it didn't need fixing) now and again; how viktor had put his hand on vances knee after the latter had confided in him everything arasaka had done to him.
he had left his family behind. his sister.
but he had friends at the end of his corpo world, too.
moving among them, he had found something in himself that he had had never realized was there: that he has a lot of love to give, and no idea how to give it.
but he tries, anyway; that is the one act of free will arasaka can't take from him.
--
that's it from me! you can learn more by perusing vance's character tag (#vance) or! if you have any further questions I'd be more than happy to answer them :3

DVI output adapter for RP2350 Feather HSTX port 🔌🖥️💡
The RP2350 Feather has an FPC output connector for accessing the HSTX - high-speed transmission - peripheral. This lets us drive DVI displays really easily! Today, we got the prototype PCBs for our HSTX to DVI adapter board; after connecting up a 22-pin FPC cable, we can test out DVI driving via CircuitPython. With HSTX, we don't need to overclock or use PIO, and there's a lot more RAM on the RP2350, so we can easily do 320x240 with 16-bit color and have plenty of SRAM left over. It would be neat if we could do DVI from the PSRAM as a framebuffer at some point for really big displays!

Darius "Darcy" Lowell
Rarity: 4 star
Attribute: Havoc
Resonance: Parasite -> Body -> Havoc ↳ Basically fuses his mind with a Dreadmane and thus gains the abilities of one; "turns into a werewolf". High chance in overclocking if used too much or the cool down between use is ignored. ↳ Coming down from a fusion such as, can have him act beastly for a while; usually over within an hour. His senses are more sensitive during this time; more sensitive to sounds and scents.
Weapon: Gauntlets - Fen Dweller ↳ Havoc swirls around him like a pack of spectral wolves on a rampage, dealing damage to those close to him. ↳ Fen Dweller's passive: Self healing; kicks in once his hp is at a certain percentage.
Combat Roles: Tank with Heavy Attacks ↳ sacrifices some of his own health to deal more damage. Shield ↳ the shield is used like a battering ram, where he takes some damage; a so called residue or whisps of Darcy's Havoc energy wraps around teammates (Lance), minimizing the dmg taken by enemy attacks for 3 minutes.
Intro Skill: Mid air leap/plunge, where he rams the enemy and slams them to the ground with devastating, bone shattering force. Takes some damage himself.
Fighting Style: Close combat, with inspiration from kick boxing, with attacks designed to break and destroy. ↳ Body slams to momentarily stun. ↳ Downwards kicks that may maim or KO. ↳ Slamming the enemy into the ground, often by their throat/head, to disarm/kill. ↳ Taunting, where the enemy's attention and attacks are drawn to him.
Class: Natural Resonator ↳ No specific event triggered his ability, or at least he has no memory of it.
Tacet mark: Nape - diagonal backward slash ( \ )
Birthday: July 10th
Birthplace: Outskirts of Huanglong
Affiliated: RagTag Gang ↳ A group of misfits, created by Lance and him.
Special Dish: A meat dish that is juicy, falling apart as you bite into it. It's dressed with a thick, sticky sweet sauce that sticks to your tastebuds. It settles in your stomach, offering a sense of comfort and boost of energy. Heavy attack dmg increased, but you sacrifice some hp.
Pangu Terminal: Looted from someone, tinkered with until it started working again. It's strapped around his left thigh with two leather belts.
Echoes: Havoc Dreadmane, Havoc Warrior, and Excarat
Other Details: Sturdy, so he can take a pretty heavy hit head on; connected to his own feelings and conviction. The more focused he is, the better he can withstand an attack. Works best in pairs, but is excellent in teams as well. Arms and legs have a few crisscrossing scars on them. He also has a scar on his jaw, on the right side.
Lore: TBC

What makes overclocking so interesting to you?
That's an interesting question. I got into it because of a general interest in computers, particularly computer hardware - although I did complete a compsci degree with a good grade, which involved doing well in programming assignments, I've never quite got into programming and software. Possibly for unmedicated ADHD reasons.
Overclocking feels kind of like exploration, or science. You're testing the capability of the hardware, step by step, and mapping it out.
There's a lot of objective truth in overclocking. Things either work or they don't. You test something, you find out if it works. As I've got better at it I've had to get better at identifying and challenging my own assumptions. Just because something seems like it should be true doesn't mean it is, but you can find out. If you get something wrong, you go back and try again.
The actual process of testing hardware is something I've found I can just relax into - the way people relax into playing games, except without the gamer rage that follows.
I've also ended up getting very into the fine details of hardware, particularly learning about the specific chips that memory is made with and identifying them. I have entire spreadsheets dedicated to different memory revisions and the production processes used to make them, and have linked up with some other like-minded overclockers who have worked on the same.
When it comes to the memory chips used on an actual stick of ram, a lot of manufacturers put codes on the labels or in serial numbers that indicate the chip used. Working these out feels like a puzzle, or cracking a code - but one in the real world with real applications (albeit not necessarily important applications as such). This has also been a collaborative process, working with a handful of like-minded overclockers.
So yeah it just, I dunno. It's a bit like doing science or engineering but on my own time with no stakes, no obligation and relatively minimal resources.

What OS and PC hardware do you use for emulating stuff? Also, what is your surround sound setup like?
if u mean the switch emulation stuff then i was using my main PC for testing
Thats uhh... Windows 10, an 8GB R9 390, MSI tomahawk z370, 16GB of DDR4 RAM (ballistix sport i think? i forget what exactly, just needed to replace the 24GB i was having issues with), 750w Corsair PSU and an overclocked Core i7-8700k
it emulates PS2/Gamecube stuff fine and even Wii U is great but it starts having issues with PS3/Switch. some games run fantastically; some not so much
if you were wanting to build a PC for modern emu i would definitely recommend a newer CPU. mines like 7 years old lol
u dont need to break the bank tho; even modern core i3 is probably gunna give u a better experience. tho im getting a Ryzen 5 5700x personally.
my GPU is fine for emu too and u could pick one up for super cheap nowadays. u wouldnt need an expensive overclocking board like mine either. also for surround sound i have a sony HT-S20R. its pretty great but the front left/right and centre speakers are actually in a soundbar so theres not quite as much distance as i'd like between the channels. rear speakers are discrete tho. if u can get something with completely discrete speakers u should imo i actually used to have this rly old surround system that looked like a PS2 + cost me £20. that'd be perfectly fine even today honestly... it just broke. u rly dont need anything stupid fancy or expensive to have a good surround sound experience
if yr only planning to use surround sound on a PC tho you can actually just buy a nice set of 2.1 speakers and then buy another set of two each time u want more channels lol. dont even need to be the same brand or anything

I need to be overpowered, I need to fight back with all my strength and still fail. I need to be held down and pumped into harder every time I try to bite and struggle until I'm pregnant for sure.
And then I need to go home and take out all my frustration on a helpless robot girl. Turn off thermal throttling even though she's desperately reminding me I've overclocked her. Unplug half her RAM while she's trying to run benchmarks. Delivering low voltage arcs to random components.

V, #14 😈
Dark OC Asks
14. What is your OC's "villain song"?
now there is at least two answers for this, i have many many thoughts on the topics and i hope i can get em all out lmao
IM BETTER
i LOVE a good joker arc, some defining moment in a characters life that just breaks or changes them in some way, this doesn't fully happen for v but she stands on the precipice plenty of times.
namely the vdb debacle and when she gains control of the blackwall via songbird. (there might be more but it's been a minute since i properly played)
now what do these two instances have in common? netrunning/ hacking. this song (and others like it) always get me thinking about v getting lost in the power she holds with her quickhacks.
a cyberdeck wasn't even her first choice, she wanted berserk in combination with gorilla arms but viktor refuses to install them for her. she could go to a different ripper to get them obviously but he's the only doc she trusts and who won't rat her out to the authorities for having cracked soft. (this explanation is a bit underbaked i will admit) she also knows he's lowkey right, she cannot be trusted with that kind of chrome.
now one could argue that being able to kill people via command does more damage than a pissed off ape but maybe she can control herself better than vik gives her credit for. or maybe he's not too familiar with netrunning/ hacking.
there is also the aspect of v knowing exactly what happens when she uses a hack, she wrote the code herself. (i'm not saying she invented them but they are her own versions, either written from scratch or modified some way)
my favourite example for this is the suicide quickhack: v takes control of the target for a few moments, she has to raise the gun, she has to pull the trigger, she has to leave the person's consciousness before they die but not too early or they will flinch away at the last moment. she doesn't die if she stays too long but the repercussions can be dire anyway: she passes out, there is psychological damage etc. if the target is right and she executes it well it can be pretty fun though, sort of like playing russian roulette but without dying.
but to get back on topic: i LOVE the mental image of her just standing in the middle of a bunch of enemies, activating overclock to wreak havoc on them AND herself.
i also enjoy copy-paste - she makes herself an easy target for another runner just to pull this out of her sleeve and fuck them over so much more, she simply IS better.
this mindset is also reflected in her aversion to chrome, she doesn't need it or rather she doesn't want it. she is better than them, she is built different. now that is simply not true, she can tell herself that lie as often as she likes but she needs cyberware to keep up. (i actually have a background story for this, maybe i will even write it one day)
so she slowly begins to betray herself: she replaces her glass eye with kiroshis, she installs extra ram, she gets the reinforced tendons. these changes come slowly and her body is still mostly ganic by the end of the game but in quiet moments she hates herself for caving in and for enjoying it.
ultimately: power corrupts, nobody is immune to that.
EAT THE CHILDREN
any otep song tbh, since it's the band i chose to use for rotten (her band) and v turns into the worst version of herself when she's on stage. it's one of the reasons she decided to end the band in the first place, though everyone involved just thinks she was being asshole (they ain't wrong)
her whole band era was a double edged sword, on one hand she finally had a voice and was adored by some but at the same time she had never been more miserable. their songs are filled with her traumas and that puts her back into a powerless position, add the adrenaline of being on stage and you get a truly volatile concoction.
#sammy says shit#thank u bestie :3c#oc:v#i hope this made sense lmao#also im giving myself a tap on the shoulder for not talking about johnny :]#obviously he plays a part in this but.... this felt better#also also i dont think i got all of the thoughts out but i didnt want to stray too far

I tried to install new ram into my pc. Unfortunately I had selected DDR4 ram when my board is DDR5... which caused the bios to reset.
Four days later it was resolved after much troubleshooting and a maybe dodgy memory slot. I need to refund the new memory though. Ive decided i wont upgrade yet and ill just lower the intensity of the game I'm playing.
My pc after being rebooted had a LOOOUUUUD fan and adjusting the fan curve wasnt doing anything because the cpu temps were so high for some reason.
I learnt that an overclocking function had been turned on and my cpu voltage was a bit too high. I lowered voltage slightly and turned off overclocking and now my device is very quiet and running cooler. It doesn't seem to have a performance cost.

Sigh. I got it to boot to bios once. Now I get cpu and dram lights on the motherboard, which is some sort of cursed problem zillions of other people have, that in my case I’m assuming is related to the cpu and/or aio seated on it. Between booting and not booting, I altered a ram overclock profile and replaced a fan… and bumped the aio. Not an unusual amount of force but considering the zillions of other cursed people with problems related to forces on the cpu, it was prolly that. I’ve tried each stick of ram as a singlestick, I get all fans and lights, I’ve reseated power cables… NOT looking forward to reseating the cpu which has fixed this issue for several people.

Gamers and hobbyists may consider the Trident Z5 Royal Series DDR5 for the best DDR5 memory performance. A luxurious memory package is another option.
High-performance DDR5-8400 CL40:
The technical terms are below. DDR5 (5th generation). This new memory standard is faster and less power-hungry than DDR4.
8400: Megahertz memory.
A 8400 MHz data transfer rate is 8400 million cycles per second.
Data transport speeds rise with MHz.
Column Address Strobe Latency (CAS) is CL40, which monitors RAM retrieval time.
Low CLs suggest faster latency.
CL latency affects RAM performance along with many other parameters.
Faster RAM with somewhat higher CL latency may outperform slower RAM with tighter CL timings.
DDR5-8400 CL40 is high-speed DDR5 with 40 CAS latency. This RAM is great for gamers, overclockers, and creatives who use 3D rendering and video editing tools.
Additional DDR5-8400 CL40 RAM considerations:
Its high-end memory specification and recent availability may make it more expensive and scarce than other DDR5 choices.
The motherboard must support DDR5-8400 memory speeds and AMD EXPO or XMP settings for automated overclocking.
DDR5-8400 CL40 RAM costs more than DDR5.
For optimal DDR5 RAM performance, choose DDR5-8400 CL40. When buying, consider compatibility, price, and availability.
Features of DDR5-8400 CL40 memory:
The memory is DDR5.
Speed: DDR5-8400 This is memory data transmission rate. High speeds improve performance, especially in bandwidth-intensive applications.
CAS Latency:CL40: The number of clock cycles it takes memory to retrieve data after a request. Lower CLs indicate faster memory. Higher-speed DDR5 memory normally has higher CAS latency. Thus, DDR5-8400 CL40 may not be faster than DDR5-6400 CL38. When evaluating DDR5 memory, speed and CAS delay matter.
Depending on the model, DDR5-8400 CL40 memory may have these features:
Capacity: DDR5 modules hold 4GB to 128GB.
ECC memory fixes data transfer errors. ECC memory costs extra, but data-intensive servers and workstations need it.
DDR5 memory modules with RGB LEDs can show numerous colours and lighting effects.
