Habits that help me stay SANE in quarantine
During these strange times of lockdown, a lot of us have been feeling all different kinds of emotions. Some of you might relate to the feeling of disconnection from my everyday life I experienced. I didn't know why I was doing what I was doing anymore and I kind of forgot what my purpose was. Fortunately I found some activities and tips to gain back my excitement about the futur ahead and I wanted to share those in case anyone is struggling with that feeling right now.
Journaling
This is a really basic one but I thought it was still important to mention it. A couple of months into quarantine I started feeling like the days were blurred together and this meant that if something was bothering me one day, it was likely that I would continue worrying about it for several days because I never felt like there was a stopping point in my week or month to reflect on my daily life.
This is why I started journaling every night before bed. For someone that never used to do this growing up it was pretty difficult to keep up with it at first but now when something is bother me during the day, I automatically feel the need to write it in my journal just to let it out and move on the next day.
Walking
Just like journaling, walking helps me clear my mind and destress. If you find yourself overwhelmed with everything going on in your life or in the world in general, going on a walk might be a good idea. It doesn't have to be long, just getting some fresh air can help you a ton.
Creativity
Picking up a new creative hobby can really help not only to make time pass faster, it could also help you destress because it requires some sort of focus. That way you can't think about something else. It is also great if you want to improve your skills in something like drawing, painting, tie-dying shirts, cooking,...
Having a schedule
I'm still in the process of finding balance for this one but I think having a lose schedule is really important. For example, I try to have the same morning and night routines that include all the main habits I need to do to maintain a healthy life and mindset and no slip into a slump which is hard to get out off in these times. Those habits are for example brushing my teeth, taking a shower, eating breakfast, journaling,... Then when I am sure that these are completed, I try to work on other projects. The days I don't go to work, I try to dress like usual and do something productive because that's what is making me feel accomplished.
If you find yourself overthinking a quick way to try to stop the spiral is watching a movie or a Youtube video. I always have a list of movies to watch in case I get a little too stressed.
I hope that these tips can help you not go crazy during these difficult times, if you find yourself in a bad place mentally, please reach out to a professional for help and you can always message me if you need someone to talk to!

Some things I’ve learned...
So this is the beginning of week 4 of my quarantine (no schools no social life outside of work (I’m an essential service worker)) and over the last few weeks I’ve figured out some things that help make life and studying in quarantine much easier.
1. If you have things you need to do and you keep pushing off break it into tasks and make a TO DO LIST and I know y’all have heard it before but it does really help keep you on track and after 2-3 weeks of doing this I’ve actually started feeling guilty about not completing my daily list. NOTE keep it simple, it doesn’t have to be fancy ( unless you LIKE fancy and want to do that) Saying this probably makes me the laziest least aesthetic studyblr ever but I don’t make fancy lists because I spend too much time making the list and then I want a break I get distracted and I don’t care. I find keeping it simple WORKS!!
ALSO make sure your to dos are reasonable and attainable or else you won’t want to do them because it will seem overwhelming
Tumblr media
2. Set a schedule. Have a set of tasks you do EVERYDAY, it can be super simple like mine or you can have every thing you need to do like hair or skin routine plus chores and homework by the assignment. Mine is much simpler cuz I know I do the same hygiene or meal stuff everyday cuz I always have. And don’t schedule your weekends or leave yourself a break day. A day for you where you don’t have to do anything. I never plan my weekends because I know I will work at least 8 hrs each day and still have my chores when I get home so I don’t plan schoolwork or anything.
Mine has how much time to spend on something so I don’t overworks myself and I know I have enough time to do all of that and my to do list everyday plus work.
Tumblr media
3. Act like life is normal. And by this I mean get up at a set time everyday, be dressed within an hour of getting up, put on makeup if you wear makeup, eat breakfast before 11am. Get up and start your day like you have to leave your house. This is SOOO HELPFUL. I struggled to do anything the first week because I wasn’t in the mood. But this, it puts you in the mood your brain will follow its old habits no problem.
4.take care of YOURSELF! No don’t have a spa day at home or whatever just make sure your getting sleep, eating 3 meals a day, drinking more water over juice or pop, if you snack try and pick something healthier if you have the option, etc. This is just as important to being set up to not go crazy in quarantine. ALSO give yourself breaks, set a timer for 20 min and go back to doing what you need to do when the timer goes off.
5. Make sure you have a work space and a personal space! No you don’t need an office, but try not to do your homework in bed or while on the couch, it leads to easy distractions and your brain associating relaxing and homework, which doesn’t work well. If possible do your homework or personal studies at a desk or the dinner table or even just on the floor! PLUS when you stop doing homework in bed you start sleeping better because your brain goes oh this is time to relax I don’t need to do work and BOOM your asleep.
Those are all my main tips, I hope they help, and if you have any questions let me know! I’m sorry for the long post but if you made it this far then thanks! And look at this photo of wybie 🦔❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜

List 7 things you are grateful for. Use this list to create a gratitude jar. Add the things you wrote to the jar.  Whenever you are feeling down pull one of the things from the jar to help you reflect on what you should be grateful for. Do not forget to continue to keep filling the jar with things you are grateful for Repost @yesbabyilikeitraw #QuarantineTips #Gratitude #journaling https://www.instagram.com/p/B-VFdRMFiT_/?igshid=17jgi6cq5skxg

🏡 Day 1 of Week 12 Staying Home
Everyone feels SO different about this… that it’s hard to talk about. 🤦‍♀️😏🤷‍♀️
It took me ALL day to hit "send" on this note to you because... well, like I said, it's just a VERY sensitive topic.
So yeah, I think I'll just stick to low carb recipes & easy keto meal ideas for the next few posts. ;-)
But I do look forward to hearing how you are, how you feel, and what's going on with you...

My Adapting to (unwelcomed) Change Tip #2: Find your purpose.
After being in the hospital with my baby for (the first) two weeks while she was sedated and intubated, we decided we were going to stop asking the docs "when will we go home?" (It was 7 months later.) We realized that our focus needed to be on her and us providing her the love and support she needed while the doctors worked their miracles. We radically embraced our situation (hint hint next tip!). We were in it for the long haul. I continued my one-on-one care of her, playing, reading, teaching, encouraging milestones, just like I did at home. Making everything seem as "normal" as possible was my goal. Today, she is perfectly comfortable in the hospital, and even asks to go for visits frequently. I'd say we were successful.
After some time, when looking for answers and improvements was getting lengthy, I added another purpose: Finding those to serve. There are plenty of opportunities in the hospital. I comforted strangers and prayed with them, talked with them, offered advice, hugs, shared meals. Taking the focus off whatever pain and difficulty I was going through (and it was a lot) to serve others gave me another great purpose, and gave me relief from my own burdens.
As you may know, there is a TON of waiting and down time in the hospital, just as there may be now in this quarantined life we find ourselves in. We cannot simply find hobbies to "pass the time," though there is nothing wrong with this. If you are finding a lot of empty space and time (for me personally, day to day life hasn't really changed much), finding a purpose will give you drive and keep your mind and spirit activated. It will keep your sprits high and your mind attuned to what is most truly important in your personal life. Now is a great opportunity to nurture ourselves, our families, our communities. To zero in on what may be lacking that needs our attention. Those things that may be corner stones of our own lives.
This post is already so long, so why don't you all share some ideas with me?

3 methods of overcoming procrastination. . . Pomodoro Method It is a way to work productively, but it can also help you in getting started. The Pomodoro method is when you use a timer to break down work into intervals. You can set whatever length of time you want, but it is typically 25 minutes per session, then allow yourself a 5-minute break. After 4 work sessions, you can take a longer break. It is up to you how long the work sessions are. But you can also use this method to help get you started working. Like I stated above, make yourself work for 5 minutes, then quit if you want. Use the timer for those 5 minutes, then take a break. Slowly increase the work time and soon you will build the habit of working instead of procrastinating. . . The 5-second rule . It’s called the 5-second rule by Mel Robbins. When you find yourself procrastinating, count down from 5 to 1. Once you hit 1, start! As simple as it sounds, it really works. I’ve used it for getting out of bed instead of hitting the snooze button, for writing, and running. It has worked for me and I’m sure it can work for you. . Most Important Tasks . Another way I’ve used to beat procrastinating is making a most important tasks list and scheduling those tasks for a certain time. No matter what happens in the day, those most important tasks get done. Getting those done helps me gain confidence to complete whatever else I need to get done. I also want to say motivation doesn’t work. You are never going to be motivated to complete tasks which may be difficult or unpleasant. It’s building the habit every day which gets you over procrastinating. This really hit me the wrong way. First, this is not what Easter is about (to me).
Second, being good to yourself is not filling your body full of junk and spiking your blood sugar through the roof.
There are many ways to treat yourself or express self love. ❤ And should it be ALL ABOUT ME anyway? 🤔 No.
This is one of those self sabotage mind tricks... and a scary one with a killer virus circulating that seems to favor high blood sugar and extra body weight,
RE: https://www.travelinglowcarb.com/27173/coronavirus-weight-and-health-talk/
Poor taste and bad timing... in my personal opinion. 👎
