I am simultaneously deliriously in love with the ending of Loki season 2 and absolutely loathe it

On one hand…Shakespearean tragedy at its finest, essentially circling back to Loki’s original Thor 2011 character arc by reversing it, and Loki has literally ascended to godhood. In the end, Loki’s ultimate selfless sacrifice was to sit upon the highest throne in the multiverse, and that to me is tragically ironically beautiful

On the other hand…Loki being alone makes me want to burn Marvel studios to the ground and do other unspeakable things

as a kid I used to daydream about moving in together with a best friend and promising to never leave each other, growing old together, and holding each other’s hand through life. There's just something very specific about homoerotic character-enveloping friendships from around 2010 where they're semi-aware that gay people exist but queerbaiting isn't quite a thing yet sp their relationship consumes the narrative and changes them both irrevocably forever and they end in tragedy but the ending is JUST open enough for the fic writers to wriggle into that just makes me go fucking FERAL

Kind of wish people would not act as if Nandermo becoming canon is the only thing that validates the show or makes the show good.

I ship Nandermo, I’d love it to be canon. But we do not lose anything from the pairing not becoming canon. The show is still queer and LGBTQ+ —Guillermo and Nandor not getting together doesnt make them suddenly straight.

I think there’s a big misconception about what queerbaiting is—it’s when the writers/producers purposefully imply or write characters as if they will get into a queer relationship or be LGBTQ in canon to draw in a queer audience, but then never actually show that representation.

Queerbaiting is NOT when two queer/lgbtq+ characters you want to get together don’t end up together.

Guillermo and Nandor aren’t going to be turned straight if they don’t end up together. Regardless of how the show ends, their relationship as two queer men means a lot to me, whether it’s a platonic or romantic one, it’s still important, and still representation.

I hope people can be aware of that and not pitch a fit if the show ends in a way they don’t like.
