its like, the last time brian was ridiculously romantic, justin almost died so there's something to be said about him not doing that because it all went so wrong before. lindsay asks him doesnt he just want to celebrate that justin is alive and around for another birthday, shouldnt that be reason enough. which is one of the first times since the beginning of season 2 someone besides justin or brian has mentioned what happened, further driving home the point. but then on the other side of it. justin doesn't even remember how devastatingly sappy brian was at prom, let alone that the man sat up watching him sleep for two months in a hospital. so he doesn't have all the information when he lets himself fall for the brian kinney doesn't give a shit act. he knows that brian says in sometimes hard to decipher actions how he feels but sometimes he'd just like a bouquet of roses and. brian is so, so, so close to buying him some. and then he doesnt. sigh.

I had to wait to reply to your last message and to write this one because I know that my brother still at times checks your blog to see if there are fic updates (i now told him about subscribing to fics).

Anyway the reason I had to wait is because yesterday (the 6th) was his birthday and we (as in me and our parents) got him the full seasons collections box set from ebay. Our cousin found one that was a pretty decent price so we all got it together for him. And I couldn’t tell you about it when you said we should do that because we already had it and it was hidden at my parents house!! But he also saw that message and sent it to me saying ‘YEAH! Why don’t you lil shits do that for me? I mean it IS your fault, I’m like this now’ And I will forever deny that I did this because all I did was show him qaf…he did mind maps and diy merch and tell everyone and their mom about it.. So this is all on him.

ANYWAY! I do have something to tell you though about his birthday. We’ve been laughing about it all day and the minute my cousin told me the story, I thought of all of you who watched this monster be brought to life.

Like i said his birthday was yesterday and he got blacked out drunk with his friends to celebrate it. And then they went to his house to continue because and i quote from a video i got sent ‘i might be 37 but the party doesn’t stop bitcheeeeesssss’ anyway I was suppose to be there but work had different plans, so our cousin who was the designated driver, made sure to send me updates throughout the day and according to him (and also a too short but amazing video he sent me), my dumb drunk brother made EVERYONE watch fan videos of Britin. And not on tv or like hey let me show you something on my laptop. Nope, he stood in the middle of the living room, holding his laptop while kinda stumbling and the fan videos were playing on it. Apparently most of them were too drunk to actually pay attention, including him but they kinda caught a few glimpses and words and every once in a while, my brother would shush them to say ‘hey! The pretty boy is talking’ and when he wash asked who’s the pretty boy, he would try to point at the pretty boy (both of them) and obviously the scenes were changing so he kept going ‘him, him, him’ while pointing all over the screen. And then he pointed to debbie and a friend went ‘that’s a woman’ and he responded with *putting his index finger up to like prove a point* ‘actually, that’s Debbie’. I wish you guys would be able to see my cousins reenactment of it because it was hilarious. However I was told that the way the night ended was that he went to his room to get his phone so that he can and I quote ‘I gotta read some shit to you guys, you’re gonna fuck with it because I fuck with it, understood?’ and then when he didnt come back, our cousin went to look for him and found him passed out on the bed, hugging Brian the cat and his phone. And I have no way to actually prove this since he only remembers bits and pieces but I genuinely think he was about to “read” one of the fics he’s been reading to them. Today when we were all on facetime and our cousin was telling him/us about everything he did (this was just the tip of the iceberg, he almost fell down the stairs again) his only response was ‘i have no memory of any of that but it does sound like me, doesn’t it?’

So even when absolutely blacked out drunk, Britin is still one of the main things he thinks about. And sorry (again) for a late reply, I’ve been buzzing with excitement about him getting the box set but couldn’t tell anyone since he does pay attention from time to time and unfortunately he is no longer drugged out of his mind on pain pills. They say there is a hadith which contains the statement “let your house suffice you”. Our Prophet (SAW) had been asked “What is salvation?” and He (SAW) had replied it. What is the full version of this hadith?

Uqbah ibn Amir (RA) narrates: I asked the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) “What is salvation” He replied:

“Hold back your tongue, let your house suffice you, and cry over your sins.” (Tirmidhi, az-zuhd,50 ; Musnad, 2/212; 4/158; 5/259)

Tirmidhi said that this hadith is hasan (حَسَن meaning "good", see ibid)

Ḥasan (حَسَن meaning “good”) is used to describe a hadith whose authenticity is not as well-established as that of sahih (sound) hadith, but enough for use as supporting evidence.

One of the subjects which is remarkable in this hadith is holding the tongue back. It is better understood how appropriate this advice is if we take into consideration the troubles one’s own tongue brings on a person. For, whenever one gets into trouble, it is either because of his deeds or his words.

Hold back your tongue

Tongue is not just a tool of evil. It can be very useful and beneficiary when its bridle is taken over and dominated.

It should also be noted that it is even more important to hold it back in times of mischief and unrest. For, it is clear that spreading or sharing a word that is heard, without investigating if it is true or not, will cause many lies, slanders, unrests and corruptions.

As a matter of fact, it is necessary to fear the threat of the warning expressed in the following hadith: "It is enough of a lie for a man to narrate whatever he hears." (Muslim, Muqaddimah 5)

This hadith reveals very precisely that it is a lie to convey whatever is said without doing any research. The way of not lying is to examine what is heard thoroughly.

May Allah (JJ) forbid, spreading everything that is heard may mean thousands of lies.

In this respect, as in everything, it is necessary to decide by going over the words with fine comb, especially in situations where there is a possibility of the emergence of an unrest or mischief.

In summary, in this age, when messages, news, speculations, comments reach millions, it should be our prior task to hold back our tongues.

The verses that we will quote attract attention to the fact that we should pay attention to every organ and every feeling, especially our tongue:

“And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.” (al-Isra, 17:36)

“Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].” (Qaf, 50:18)

Let your house suffice you

One of the points to which attention is drawn in the hadith is to be attached to home.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) advises us not to look anywhere other than the home for the peace and bliss by saying “Let your house suffice you”. A disfavor with a house which may turn into heaven with one’s wife and children and leaving it for spending time in cafés and some other miserable places means not giving deserved dignity to the family and accepting the discomfort in advance.

Considering that even the treats offered to family members are “sadaqa” themselves, the minutes we spent with our family will count as thawabs and we will become happy too. Family members who feel the warmth of their spouse and their father at home will get happy equally. The same thing is valid for the women as well. They too must look for peace and happiness in taking care of the children at home and obedience to their husbands.

It should not be forgotten that the warning ‘Let your house suffice you’ is more important especially in such times when sins, epidemics, mischief, anarchy, etc. are common. It is very important in terms of this aspect that the question “what is salvation” is answered in the hadith. This phrase may cover our family, home and the place where we should be, in any kind of bad situation such as trouble, sorrow, sins, epidemic and calamity.

So, one of the places necessary for our salvation is our home and family.

Cry over your sins

It is important to cry over the sins. If one can cry for his own sins, it means he has found the true path of divine forgiveness. Moreover, a person who can cry for his sins reviews the past properly on the one hand and tends to look to the future with more care on the other hand.

It is also a start for him to be more careful so as not to commit such sins which inflict serious wounds in his spiritual world.
