wardrobe hcs shipping edition

percabeth: same ten shirts and maybe five pairs of pants circulating between them with no distinction made which is whose. some of percy's things fit a little bit loose or awkward on annabeth. some of her clothes don't actually accommodate his shoulders. you kind of can tell that which clothes were bought by annabeth because they tend to be lighter in shade and maybe a little bit nicer but that rule only applies when the clothes in question are new. you would think that shoes would be exempt from this but they have the same shoe size too.

jasipereo: shit ton of clothes for piper, which slowly bleed into leo's and jason's wardrobes. plus she actually likes shopping when she gets over her im not like other girls mentality. she just tends to prioritize comfort and general feeling over the looks so some of her clothes are really look like they were picked by someone colorblind. also she is the kind of shopper who picks up shit for somebody else without even asking their size. sometimes she's right on the spot, sometimes she's hilariously wrong. neither of the boys are used to having a lot of shit because military training and going from home to home. jason tends to grab whatever is closest but he rejects some things purely based on vibes. leo is not the clothes thief until he finally outgrows every single pair of pants he owned previously so he just starts stealing piper's and jason's. still each one of them can tell just by a look which thing is whose.

frazel: no bleed and exchange due to the hilarious size difference. they do like to match though, so once they start dating he has a lot more yellow in the wardrobe and she suddenly gains a shit ton of red clothes. also a lot of deep blue and very dark violet. once they get older and lose any sense of shame whatsoever they will start wearing these touristy couples matching ensembles.

Hot take about percabeth AND anti percabeth.

First of all, I don't like percabeth.

I like an arts, I'm mostly neutral about the idea of ​​percabeth in pjo (5 books). Fanfiction about them? Not in this life. HOO?.. Look, one of the reasons why I simply CANNOT read this damn series is directly related to the amount of percabeth.

Why is it hot take?

I kind of understand why you guys (antis percabeth) see Annabeth as the abuser and Percy as her victim, but let me tell you...

In pjo, it's Percy who's obsessed with Annabeth, not the other way around. Hell, at this point I don't even believe Annabeth was jealous at Rachel as anything other than Percy being a friend. But Percy really pissed me off.

Why is he so UNHEALTHY attached to her, once again? Exactly in the original five books.

Annabeth and Luke, for example, have clear attachment issues. Percy DOESN'T have that. And his fatal flaw is not the same at all. He has suicidal tendencies, but that's not what it's about. So why?!

Percy DOESN'T KNOW the demigods in the Camp and he has no mortal friends cause he doesn't even try to make them.

Why. The fuck. It's Annabeth?

To the point of jealousy to Luke. Don't get me wrong, but Annabeth would never have chosen Percy if she had even the slightest chance with Luke. And this includes the purely platonic relationship. Yes, Percy became important to her as a friend... cause she has a royalfucking desire to belong. Well, she also has to follow him everywhere. Otherwise her soul will be literally cursed, yes.

So why it was Percy the original source of toxic vibes in their relationship?..

i'm fed up with this have some more realistic percabeth betrayals:

Percy scares Annabeth and she runs. it's one moment of pure instinct, but it's one moment neither of them are able to forget. bonus points if they still love each other but can't move past what happened.

Percy decides he's done with the gods. (this is also a common trope. realistic, with Percy abandoning the Greeks? eh, debatable.) quits world-saving and quests and camp and everything cold turkey. Annabeth can't support his decision and stays behind. they don't talk for x-long-amount-of-time and when they do it's fraught with hurt because why aren't they more important to each other than what they're doing with their lives?

they're arguing and yelling at each other and in the heat of the moment Annabeth snaps something really hurtful - confirming something Percy has been fearing for a while now. there's distance between them now that wasn't there before.

Percy's volatile, has been since Tartarus. Annabeth develops a plan to keep him far away from the young campers to make sure they don't get hurt. Percy finds out and is hurt and appalled at the lack of trust and the fact that he's worried she was right.

you'll notice a lot of these don't have the bold, brazen betrayal vibes. that's because a lot of betrayals don't start with one person turning on the other. they start with one person making a mistake, and then both of the people involved escalate it.

extra bonus points if they're Dark!Percy fics. someone write one of these and tag me i need good betrayal content

been looking at a lot of betrayal fics recently and man a lot of people underestimate or just completely forget about Percy and Annabeth's five years of friendship before they started dating. and a lot of them completely underestimate Annabeth herself.

how many of them start with Annabeth suddenly deciding Percy isn't worth the trouble? like bitch please if she was going to do that she would have done it in book 1 when he decided fighting the god of war was a good idea.

how many of them have Annabeth as this emotionless puppet master building Percy up and using him for his fame? friend idk how to tell you this, but she spent five years certain he was going to die at 16. she would've chosen some other demigod to turn into a hero and she would have done it beautifully.

how many of them have Annabeth being controlled by some outside enemy forcing her to be horrible? as if she didn't break through Circe's charmspeak and resist her offer of immortality at 13 for Percy?

a realistic betrayal would be Annabeth holding an intervention because she thinks Percy's gone too far, and it driving a wedge between them. a realistic betrayal would be Percy accidentally hurting someone, and Annabeth telling Chiron despite a promise to keep it a secret. A realistic betrayal is Annabeth seeing how Percy's stopped taking care of himself, and telling someone to get him help he doesn't think he needs.

Annabeth would only ever betray Percy for his own wellbeing. gosh i need to write a fic about this.

K this got LONG so here's a read more!

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

Honestly even though I don't multi-ship often I DO usually get the appeal behind ships so this is a really short list. This will probably get me some hate but I still to this day can't get behind c/ex@ from the show that will not be named. But then again I do get the appeal of two super attractive women with chemistry and the whole ruler/ girl who makes the ruler change their ways thing. So I guess I get it even if I don't like it?

Also, and this is not to hate on Hinny, but Harry and Ginny from HP are not my cup of tea. I like what fandom has done for them but the actual content we get for them in the books (and movies, but I prefer the books) isn't enough for me to love them. Same with Mal and Alina from S & B/ Grishaverse, they're so bland to me in the books but the show is doing far better with them and actually making Mal ya know. Likeable. Again, I don't ship it, but best friends to lovers is top tier so I get it.

Oh! I also don't really get Dwalin/Ori from The Hobbit, but that is probably in large part because I'm a Dwalin/Nori shipper. Again though, all of the secondary characters' relationships in The Hobbit rely on fans to extrapolate HARD and wear extreme shipper goggles, and ik there's that scene where Dwalin helps Ori out of the river so like.. maybe that's where it's from? I don't hate it or anything but it's always something that's made me go ??? cause I have no idea where the heck it came from.

Apart from that... I can't think of any rn? I feel like I understand where all the PJO ships come from, even if I don't ship them. There are a couple that I don't understand how they can be someone's OTP, just because I find them super boring (no offense to those who ship C@leo or J@siper but I just don't love how Rick handled those relationships). In TSC I think fandom mainly vibes with the same pairings and that's true for most of my book fandoms. With the shows I watch I don't think fans majorly ship anything too out there for me. Maybe I don't interact enough with fandoms to tell. So this is all I got.

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

Oh my god, oh my god, this is a can of worms, my lord. A pairing I'm not so sure about, but characters? Abso-fucking-lutely. I took a break from PJO fandom for exactly that reason and the list of characters is endless honestly, for multiple fandoms.

I won't say fandom ruined Bell@rke for me cause I still ship it, but I definitely lost enthusiasm with how toxic the shows fandom was and then that was made even worse when the show completely destroyed itself with the worst writing and plots ever in the latter seasons.

Also I have a feeling that G@me of Thrones/ @soiaf ruined one for me but I can't remember this very second. Maybe not, and again that's probably cause I don't interact with fandoms en masse, usually just through fic and following a few people I vibe with in each.

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?

Yes, quite a few! I used to dislike Drarry (for obvious reasons I feel) and Romione (as a kid I wanted Hermione to be with Harry and even when I grew out of that I really didn't like she was with Ron) but fandom changed that for sure. And same with Darklina now, I was upset cause I felt like the books really underutilized their relationship and fell short of what could have been a super awesome pairing if better explored, but the show fandom is taking it in so many different ways that I'm starting to really love them despite the reasons I shouldn't.

And I won't say I hated Hayffie in THG, but definitely the only reason I ship them is from reading @ellanainthetardis's fic Have a Drink Sweetheart and then all the others written for them. That portrayal of Hayffie and the characters have become my own headcanons now because I've been reading them for so long and they're so good.

Fandom made me ship Leon and Morgana from Merlin too, though that's very lowkey. I never hated them, I just never thought of them as a pairing until reading fic.

20. What is the purest ship in the fandom?

Percabeth. I don't care which fandom, it's Percabeth. Growing up together, going from enemies to friends to best friends to lovers? The establishment of them being best friends and the way Rick wrote that friendship was so pure, and they are a couple with no internal problems, all external, and you just know they're gonna be together through everything, fighting at each other's side, cause that's the way they are. There's a reason they're my OTP and it's cause they are the most well-established, ride or die couple I can think of. They're just so solid.

21. What are your thoughts on crack ships?

Love em for fandom but personally I very rarely get behind crackships just because I usually need a lot of build up, scenes, good dialogue and chemistry, etc. to ship something, so most of my ships aren't crack ships. The only one I can really think of that I actively root for and ship and would read fic for is Billy/ Owen from 911 Lonestar which is just... something.

Like idk if Barduil from The Hobbit is crack because ik it's quite popular... what makes a ship a crack ship anyway? Lack of canon reference? Is it cause they two characters would be so random together because they barely ever interact? Or because it's SO unrealistic you know for sure it will never happen but want it to anyway? Or is it lack of popularity in fandom? I need someone to define this so I have a better answer :D if it's the second option then I have MANY

I love seeing fandom stuff for crack ships though, cause seriously, it's fiction, ship who you want. If you ship two characters just cause you think they're pretty side by side then that's enough for me. Make all of the fan art and fic you like.

22. Popular character you hate?

Oof. Jason from HOO. And Leo in everything after The Lost Hero. I hated Piper in The Lost Hero and Mark of Athena but like her after those. I don't like any of the book characters from S & B except Nikolai, but I like everyone in the show (except David? Why did they make him so weird? Like he's not even awkward, he's straight up rude imo, but anyway). In @soiaf I don't like Jon Snow, I think he's boring. And I despise Jorah Mormont cause I think he's creepy for having a crush on Dany.

Didn't love Stefan in TVD, too much of a goody-two-shoes. I liked dark Stefan but it felt like a totally different character. Honestly most of the characters I don't like cause they're boring or too by-the-book.

OH! A big one in M@rvel is Captain America. Can't stand him honestly, I like him as a character to have in the story, but I like never agree with him on anything. I like a couple of his one-liners but that's it really. I also don't like Gale in THG, idk if that's controversial. Or Lex@ from the show that will not be named because I think she's manipulative and not good for any of the characters i DO love.

Is Ron popular? I think so. I like fandom Ron but not canon Ron and idk why. I think I'm growing out of it but I read those books when I was like 7 initially so I thought it was awful of Ron to stop being friends with Harry because he was jealous and I never really got over that.

There are so many but I'm gonna stop now.

23. Unpopular character you love?

Again, tons. I love anyone whose got kind of a tortured backstory because it makes them more interesting to me.

I love Movieverse Hawkeye! I think Clint is great and while I wish his deafness was canon in Marvel and I don't love J Remmer, I do love Hawkeye a lot. He was honestly one of the only Marvel characters that felt consistent and in-character throughout the movies.

I like President Snow from THG just cause I think he was a fantastic villain. And Effie and Haymitch aren't unpopular, but they're probably my favourites, again because of the fics mentioned above.

Leon from Merlin!! I don't actually think he's unpopular, but he's like... my fourth favourite character in the show which I know IS considered high for most people.

Sandor Clegane from ASOIAF. Not the show, just the books. His book character is phenomenal and I am so excited for GrrM to finish the goddamn series so I know what happens to him.

The Stolls and Katie Gardner from PJO cause fandom created Tratie and sucked me in at a young age.

Bellatrix Lestrange? Is she unpopular? I don't think so but she's another one I think is a fantastic villain. I'm almost more interested in her than Voldemort tbh.

right so, vent below on all for the game aka the book series I finished in three and half days bc my stupid brain would not let me live my life if I didn't finish and I haven't studied for two tests I've got tomorrow but this is somehow more important in my brain (and everyday I'm more convinced about adhd)

first things first... I love neil josten with all my fucking heart and oh jesus christ I AM IN LOVE WITH HIM, he's the typical damaged mysterious character I always love but I can't regret it, like I love every single one of these characters which is a lot to say bc that never happens? (well except maybe aaron, but he has his moments, and I totally get his attitude) BUT NEIL owns my heart, like genuinely, he is my everything now, he might be one of my favorite ever characters?? like I said, I love this type of angsty character, and it's dumb but I love him

also can I say how much I love this bc it literally is one of my favorite tropes? like found family? check. queer? check. mentally and emotionally unstable? check. enemies to friends to lovers? check. abusive pieces if shit getting what they deserve? check. did I mention found family????

like I genuinely love this, and the suspense of wtf will happen next is honestly what's pushed me not to sleep this past few days and push my assignments aside (which is so not me lmao) because I physically need to know what's gonna happen fr

like nora is a very clever writer that way, even though three books cover a year which is odd, she really has a way to captivate the readers, ffs she got me to read a sports novel?? I just love the simplicity and symbolism of her writing

but oc at this point, if you have any semblance of how I am you know exactly what my vibe is... andrew and neil. lowkey toxic relationship at first, andrew was truly a piece of shit as a friend, but am I a sucker for characters finding that person they can call home and feel safe around after not ever having that?? absolutely. (warm is the word I love when describing this, a person that makes you feel warm) the way their relationship was shaped over the three books and how subtle the details are is amazing

and how much of a fucking simp neil is. there you have andrew hiding his sexuality like a pro for a long ass while and then neil just cannot stop staring at andrew like dan howell looks at phil lester. he really did nothing to try to hide his fondness for andrew once they started hooking up even though they pretended it was purely physical. I just love how hard neil fell for andrew in so little time, like he went from yes I think I'm attracted to andrew to loving and looking for andrew like nothing else mattered (big percabeth vibes)

also can't not love andrew's development. like not in the literary character development kind of way, but more of a... personal kind of way, like it's not in a writing sense, it's simply his emotional development in a human sense. idk how to say it. it's not like apollo's in toa or damon salvatore's or tony stark's. it's simply his personal development from being self isolating, possessive, closed off, and just done with everything, with no semblance of a purpose to live, to someone whose doors just opened in every way. he gave in to his own dreams, his feelings, and he understands that he truly is not alone, he has aaron again and kevin and nicky and renee and neil and everyone else. he actually allows himself to be happy and live for once instead of just existing, and maybe he's not there yet, but he's definitely working to get there now, and I love him so much istg I wanna cry rn as I write this

but getting back to neil and andrew, god I love their relationship. they worked through every step of the way, they're so caring and careful of each other's boundaries and triggers and stuff, and they just understand each other so perfectly. not one of them expects of the other more than they can give, and they just work so well. I love that they never told anyone absolutely anything, their relationship is theirs, and theirs only, they don't deny anything, they're not ashamed of being together, but I really love that they chose not to let the others make a big deal out of it.

and I can't ever forget how much andrew must really love neil. we know neil is head over heels for andrew, but technically we don't know how andrew feels. except every single action he does proves it. it's in the details. from the second book and onward, andrew has such a soft spot for neil, even through what happened with drake in TRK, god andrew cares so fucking much for neil it hurts. he may pass it off as 'there's nothing here', but every one of his actions proves otherwise. even right after coming back from rehab, he cared for neil like he cared for no one else, not aaron or kevin. everything that happened was perfectly paced. from their first kiss to their last. just andrew even going against kevin when he was being too aggressive to neil is enough proof, not to talk about andrew letting the deal with Aaron go to be with neil, or everything when neil was kidnapped.

it's just, they both deserve all the happiness in the world, and I'm very fucking happy they found love in each other after all they've been through.

I'm sorry I'm ranting so much, but you can guess how I feel about smth when I've slept so little the past three days bc I was obsessed with finishing it despite having too much to do (I didn't pay attention to a class bc I was reading and it's fair to say I didn't do good in the following quiz), so yeah I have a lot of feels for this series

I just love their little family so much, you don't understand <3 found family is just my favorite ever trope and I have to stop my rant short before I write way too much when I should be studying for my very important tests to come

I usually really hate having strong negative opinions on ships, but I have to say, I really dislike perachel.

As a preface, I love rachel. I think she was done dirty by the whole 'pining after the hero' thing, and it really reduced her to just the rival love interest for Percy to create conflict, which I REALLY hate. I think she is an interesting character.

firstly, Rachel is now the oracle. While it is extremely archaic, I believe the rule was that you couldn't be in a relationship as one. But honestly I really like this for her character; it allowed her to be her own person, to have a place within the story outside of the side love interest.

I also have a theory that the reason Percy was attracted to her in the first place was that she was someone outside of the demigod world, she was somewhere he could escape to and feel safe. He mentioned I think in tlo that with rachel he felt safe because of that reason, but also that he felt like he could sort of tell what she was going to say/do? I'm not saying that he doesn't genuinely like her as a friend, but maybe that was part of the reason he thought he might like her in a romantic sense. Rachel even mentioned that she was first drawn to percy because it was her entrance to the other world.

And finally, and most obviously, it would get in the way of percabeth, which was my first otp and I still believe is one of the greatest love stories ever told. Percy and Annabeth have such an incredibly unique connection, and you know that they would do anything for each other. I'm sure I dont need to explain. They love each other to the point of not just dying, but falling into literal hell for the other, and I think thats all that needs to be said.

Ultimately I think its just better for both of their characters. (also I get pretty strong lesbian vibes from rachel, so there's that)

and lastly The One With The Marauders for it’s comedic value and how light hearted and fun it is to write and I get such amazing support for it by lovely souls whether on discord or Tumblr or AO3, notably RJ who’s like one of the top tear Wolfstar writers IMHO and has always given me ideas for it and just been a sweetheart<3

fic you were nervous to post: Okay this is two tear, becs apparently I don’t know how to make decisions lmfao. But like nervous over being judged is definitely from Metamorphosis which was ALSO a bday gift, and I wrote it for that dumb bitch Beth who is literally the most profound Firstprince author and author in general tbh and just beautiful inside and out! And I just remember staying up sprinting with Kathleen and shaking becs i was sure whatever I came up with would be pure shit and she’d hate it, but I think it was actually a catalyst which helped build the foundation of our friendship and she’s literally like one of the only people in my life that I trust wholeheartedly and love endlessly and I’m happy i ended up just going for it.

However, if we’re talking about like nervous to break into a fandom, it was hands down,  I Tried Writing Your Name In The Rain for wolfstar, because I’ve literally loved the idea of them since I was a fucking child— like when I thought I was still straight bahahaha— and There is countless masterpieces within the Wolfstar fandom and it’s so fucking huge and immense and rich with substance and beauty and I love them so much and I was so afraid of ruining their characters and dynamic but I’m so thankful that i’ve found so many amazing people who helped me get more confident with my take on Wolfstar.

how do you choose your titles: They’re almost always a lyric from either a favorite poem or the song I was listening most to while writing. Like I can tell you right now that the next thing I post will definitely have a Stevie Nicks lyric as a title lmfao!

do you outline: Outlines tbh intimidate me, and feel a bit stifling, but it’s definitely something I want to start doing because I’ve got two long ass Multi-chaps planned for 2021, and right now it’s just scrambled scenes written on this messy ass doc bahaha.

i didn't really think of much else changing. like, there's an obvious time skip and some of the ages would be changed. like I only really thought of it because of the original Percy/Leo and Annabeth/Leo comparisons when I did random vg pa parallels. so my focus was purely on those three and developing their relationship and such. I was in a previous convo about how Percy and Annabeth shouldn't be involved in hoo, and I believe that wholeheartedly!!!! this managed to keep them more involved then I probably would prefer, but in a more meaningful way where they don't impact the argo kids but still have some sort of impact. I dont think Percy and Annabeth would want to be involved with demigods once they leave chb, and I think that's a nice aspect to explore.

(🤔 the battle of Manhattan happens in 2008, so thats 12 years ago, making percabeth around 28 this year, if you want to consider boo being in 2020, and Leo being 15/16. or percabeth can be older too, I don't really care.)

but yeah, if we use that timeline, aunt estelle is 12, and reminds sally of Percy at that age, so she can only smile when hearing Leo is at chb, and look at her own child. nico is about 24 or 25, but i love him being an older counselor who jumps around chb and travels the world. Thalia is... forever 15. someone suggested Jason being in the casino to explain the age gap, but Im less inclined to give him the same story as Nico. so at the moment, I'd say there just a big gap between Thalia and Jason, and beryl went BATSHIT trying to hook up with Jupiter that second time.

I'm just under the assumption that all the people mentioned in the og series are older now I'm thinking about a VERY young drew feeling betrayed by her big sis silena and harboring that feeling of hate. Rachel is an older oracle, and has a much better handle over her powers. but yeah, there are some little changes but it's mostly the same. just. the prophecy of the Five. so frank and hazel are there as normal ig. idk about son of neptune, but just assume they got it done lol. the focus is really just on an older percabeth and trying to escape, but also some family vibes and Leo bonding

1. I still feel cozy and safe here - it’s so familiar and I don’t think anywhere (real or virtual) has the same vibe. My parents sold our old house, but I imagine this is what it feels like to visit your teenage bedroom, the place you grew up and learned to be you.

2. omg I forgot how obsessed I used to be about some things. It reconnects me with such definable eras of my past which each had their own unique soundtracks, aesthetics and characters.

3. there’s the pure nostalgia I get seeing blogs I followed religiously for years still posting with the same profile pics. Hi buddy - I’ve never spoken to you but you’ve shaped my outlook on life do you remember when I used to like all your percabeth fanfic.

I was never really a ‘creator’, more a ‘consumer’, but I don’t want to forget what an important force Tumblr has been in my life - at one point, it might have even saved me.

Those hours absorbing fanfic, essays and poems. Marvelling at various genres of fanart and edits. Analysing every detail in a beautifully crafted gifset. They’re all part of me and I will forever be indebted to those talented and brave people who invest their time and their souls to create for this community.

SHIP OF THE DEAD (SPOILERS)

Just finished reading ship of the dead. I don't think I was physically and mentally prepared for all these emotions to come flooding. The ending was so perfect. The Chase Space is freaking perfect I can't even. Fierrochase gets a nice ending, bless them. Sam is so inspiring, I love her. I'm also a Muslim and it makes me feel good about myself seeing a Muslim character part of the riordanverse bcs most people think believing in old myths (Greek, Roman, Norse) counts as loosing faith but seriously. Come on. I love how open minded Rick made the characters. It gives a good message to the readers. Also, Alex Fierro is my spirit animal. I LOVE HER/HIM. I had a mini heart attack when T.J. Was this close to dying. Pottery Barn was magnificent. Jack was a freaking amazing sword. Percabeth vibes even though they weren't around that much, but STILL. Mallory figuring out who her mom is is just so pure and beautiful. Halfborn accepting his past is actual GOLD. Blitzen not dying is a blessing. I had this sad fear that he would die in this book so I was glad he didn't. I cried during the flyting against Loki. I actually felt for Magnus because those words actually hurt. I'm always kind of the "less" one in my friend group. But tbh it really doesn't matter. What matters is that we're a team and holy shit it felt so good when Magnus started with the friendship speech bcs yo that shit was beautiful. Felt bad for Loki too. But the last line did him justice, definitely.
