When Richard Reynolds first started gardening around London’s streets, he was so worried he might be arrested that he worked under the cover of darkness. Reynolds was one of the UK’s first modern guerrilla gardeners, a movement that encourages people to nurture and revive land they do not have the legal rights to cultivate. ... It’s important to remember that much of the unused or abandoned land that is potentially suitable for guerilla gardening in towns and cities throughout the UK is owned by local councils. Common examples of such locations include broken pavements with missing slabs, wasteland and the central areas of roundabouts. Although much of this land is already open for the public to walk over, actively gardening on it would become an act of trespass. The law of trespass sounds scary. However, gardening on this land would be a breach of civil law rather than a crime. This means that most guerrilla gardeners are unlikely to receive a fine or a criminal record. Landowners do have the legal right to use “reasonable force” to remove trespassers from their land. But, fortunately, it seems most councils have ignored guerrilla gardeners, having neither the time, money or inclination to bring legal action against them. Colchester Council, for example, were unable to track down the identity of the “human shrub”, a mysterious eco-activist who restored the flowers in the city’s abandoned plant containers in 2009. The shrub returned again in 2015 and sent a gift of seeds to a local councillor.

I'm sick to my stomach thinking over the fact we as the American people could lose our public lands, national parks and monuments. We would lose so many beautiful natural areas, wildlife and history. We could lose places to hike, hunt and fish.
He was putting things in motion before and he will do it again.
"The Trump administration is responsible for the largest reduction in protected public lands in history, a study finds.
Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon coined the term “deconstruction of the administrative state,” to describe efforts to take power away from the federal government and allow business a freer hand in development. Nowhere is that policy being carried out more systematically than in the Trump administration’s actions on public lands, where the businesses seeking that freer hand are primarily the oil and gas extraction, logging, and mining industries.
Republicans in Western states hoped would be a new effort to take over control of federal lands, and introduced a bill to sell some 3.3 million public land acres out of federal hands."

Please share so that more people can be aware for what is to come. We need to keep an eye on the Trump administration so that we don't lose our American right to hike, hunt and fish on OUR public lands!

This land is OUR land... not the private property of wealthy landowners in Britain who already have too much of it.

Shepherds of Coyote Rocks: Public Lands, Private Herds, and the Natural World, by Cat Urbigkit, 2012
Nonfiction book of the author's experience on rangeland with her sheep and livestock guardians. I'm only a third of the way through it currently, but enjoy it. Bought it used online.

Make sure to keep an eye out for your public land this election season. Both Trump and Harris have their eyes on public land as a solution to the housing crisis.

Reminder the Arena episode was filmed at Vasquez Rocks, open to the public and managed by Los Angeles Parks & Rec! I assume the folks at the visitors center are used to people showing up with silly outfits and props, and can give you directions and remind you to fill your water bottles. Hydration is important while doing, uh, whatever Kirk was doing.

Look out, rich people... we're coming for you very soon.
"I used to be able to afford the cost of living. What happened?"
It's actually quite simple. Rich people ideally would have everything while everyone else has nothing. But if they did that, society would riot.
So they instead tried to get as close as possible to that ideal without causing people to riot. They made sure most people could afford the cost of living. A few people couldn't, but those people were easily dismissed as being lazy or making bad decisions.
Then, rich people slowly got greedier. They carefully experimented with increasing their greed and seeing how much they can get away with. The number of people who struggle to pay their bills slowly increased. And eventually, the people who struggle to pay their bills began including you.
