The Goth-Crumplebottom Family Wedding, 1927
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the fall of 1927, two of SimCity's oldest families were joined together in holy matrimony with the marriage of Gunther and Cornelia Goth. The union of these two powerful families signify a new era for the clan, with talks of philantrophical endeavors and the development of new towns under the Goth Enterprises and the Crumplebottom Foundation.
The dashing groom, Gunther Goth (27), is a land developer for the family company, while the beautiful bride, Cornelia Crumplebottom (25), is the heiress of the Crumplebottom canned prunes. The event was held in the town of Moonlight Falls, where both families reside.
The colors purple and violet dotted the event whether in the roses that decorated the party or in the outfits of the attendants. The wedding reception was held later that evening, where many of the local families of Moonlight Falls attended as well as SimCity's other influential families, such as the Landgrabbs and the Capps.

That moment you find out the girl you’ve been seeing is famous - for being a 130-year-old missing persons case with an entire "theories and speculation" section on Wikipedia.
Previous / Next
Yes, I made Lilith a Wikipedia page because I'm just that extra. If you want to read it (I threw in some new information), you can find the whole thing following the transcript below the cut.
Real-time footage of Helena researching:
Tumblr media
[Snippets of Caleb's letter echo in Helena's mind] I will put it to you bluntly: Lilith and I have been vampires for some 100 years. Faced with your otherwise certain demise, I chose to make you one too. You may not believe me. It will feel like a bad flu for a day or two; then it will feel like the heat of 1000 fires blazing inside. I very well knew it would turn you into a monster against your will.
Helena, thinking: It's just a hangover, Helena. It's just a hangover. Yeah, that crazy bitch bit you, and her crazy brother wrote a dumb letter to scare the shit out of you. But vampires aren't real.
Thank god Ulrike left all these fucking tarps. This sunlight is murder on my eyes.
Several internet rabbitholes later... [Helena scanning Wikipedia page on computer screen] Last seen alive March 16, 1918... disappeared under mysterious circumstances... seemed to fall ill... Tangled Vines... immortal vampires... This can't actually be her. It's impossible...
Tumblr media
Lilith Violetta Vatore (December 2, 1891 – last seen alive March 16, 1918) was an heiress and socialite who disappeared under mysterious circumstances at the age of 26 along with her brother, Caleb Vatore, 24. Before vanishing, the siblings were poised to jointly inherit the Vatore fortune, home, and 100-year-old vineyard and winery. This was considered unusual for the period, as family property, wealth, and business interests were often only passed to women in the complete absence of a male inheritor.
Despite societal expectations, Vatore reportedly had little interest in courting or eventually marrying. She was said to have rebuffed dozens of engagement offers, much to her parents' dismay. However, she rarely turned down an invitation to a ball, and her baldly flirtatious escapades were frequently reported on in society columns. One such columnist wrote that she "bandied about in a bold and bawdy manner most unbecoming of a respectable lady, laughing uproariously, drinking excessively, and making coy conversation with every handsome man in sight." Some historians suggest based on a series of candid letters from Vatore to fellow socialite and confidante Prudence Crumplebottom, donated to the University of Britechester by Crumplebottom's daughters, that she may have preferred the company of women in private.
The Vatore siblings were said to be so close that one was rarely seen without the other. The society columns were not kind to Caleb Vatore, calling him a "poor chap" who seemed "nothing more than a playmate, servant, or lapdop, his role at any given moment wholly dependent upon his dear sister's whims." Little is known about his personal life.
In the days preceding the siblings' disappearance, Vatore seemed to fall ill. She sequestered herself to her bedroom, allowing no one but her brother to enter. On the morning of March 16, a maid found Caleb's chambers undisturbed, and Vatore's locked bedroom door was forced open, whereupon she was discovered to have absconded in the night, along with her brother and her finest jewels.
Various court battles ensued over the fate of the Vatore estate, and interest in the siblings' disappearance was briefly renewed when their alleged children materialized in the mid-1950s. However, the entire ordeal all but disappeared from public consciousness until the recent publication of Tangled Vines: A Complete Investigation of the Vatore Disappearances by journalist Salim Benali. Benali posits that the Vatores are immortal vampires who still live today, and though some scholars find elements of his research intriguing, others dismiss his argument as an elaborate, attention-seeking hoax.

The Crumplebottom Family
Ghosts: Prudence/ Simon Crumplebottom/ Glenda / Gordon/ Oscar /Dorothea
Standing: Cornelia Goth/ Gunther Goth/ Agnes Crumplebottom/ Agatha Crumplebottom
LtoR: Cassandra Goth/Mortimer Goth/ Bella Goth/ Alexander Goth/ Wulf Goth/ Rebecca Goth/ Fryda Wolff/Gibson Goth/ Elmira Clamp/Ian Arneson/ Beatrice Crumplebottom/ Belinda Crumplebottom/ Bianca Crumplebottom/ Orion Michaelson/ Cristopher Michaelson/ Atlas Michaelson/ Celeste Michaelson/ Sebastian Michaelson.
For my story, I was trying to establish occult ancestry for a few families using TS1 NPCs. For the Crumplebottoms, I decided Glenda and Gordon The Ghosts (the Spectral Spouses you summon on Electro's Spooky Laboratory stage in Magic Town) were Crumplebottoms ( I have a whole story about them being in a coven dedicated to death/mediumship lead by Lady Ravendancer Goth, and their part in the Century Conflict/Vampire War/ Operation Eternal Sun [from the Werewolves pack lore] which I will write fully if i ever get to season 5 of my Micropolis X story 😣)
Glenda & Gordon had 2 sons, Simon (Canon) and Oscar (completely made up because i wanted Agatha & Agnes to actually appear in each other's family trees) .
Then of course, Simon & Prudence Crumplebottom have 2 daughters, Cornelia , mother to Mortimer and Rebecca Goth , and Agnes Crumplebottom, who I headcanon to be the mother of the Moonlight Falls Crumplebottom Sisters
I haven't quite figured out how Elmira Clamp and Ian Arneson are related, just that Agnes is Elmira's Aunt, but I've included them for completionism sake.
Oscar and his wife Dorothea had only one daughter, Agatha. I imagine they met (as well as Simon & Prudence) in Magic Town, maybe in a tranquil corner of Serra Glen, but during the Century Conflict, they decided to renounce all magic and start a farm in Henford where they knew they would be safe. Agatha grew up in the serenity of the countryside, whereas Agnes's early life was marred with fear. The other Crumplebottoms eventually left magic behind too, but some of them are still stricken with the lasting effects of the war.
Lastly, not even remotely canon, but I made Agatha the mother of Celeste Michaelson so that she'd have a family. The Crumplebottom/Charmed sisters live in San Sequoia/San Francisco too, so its nice for Celeste to be near her cousins.

A brief analysis of the Sunset Valley Goth family graves in The Sims 3
I've been meaning to do this for some time, since I used one observation from this within my story. But there are a few interesting points in the Sunset Valley Goth family graveyard in The Sims 3, which I've not seen touched upon in detail in any of the videos I've watched about the Goths. Notably, what's around each grave.
Let's start with Cornelia's family.
Simon Crumplebottom - Cornelia's father
Tumblr media
Simon's grave is marked with the smallest tombstone - a tablet - which means he died having earned a total of less than 75,000 Lifetime Points. (This total includes those spent during the lifetime.)
His body is shown as buried within a sarcophagus. Traditionally, sarcophagi were used to bury wealthy people, and leaders.
The only other thing beside his grave is an Ornamental Plumb Tree. There is no such exactly-named plant in real life, but this is clearly a Sims version of the Ornamental Plum Tree, whose meaning is that of hope after enduring a long cold season.
Simon died of old age.
Prudence Crumplebottom - Cornelia's mother
Tumblr media
Prudence's grave is marked with the medium sized gravestone, which means she died having earned between 75,000 and 149,999 Lifetime Points.
Flanking her headstone are two evergreens, symbolising eternal life, since evergreens retain their leaves during winter.
Prudence died of old age.
Now let's look at Gunther's family.
Victor Goth - Gunther's father
Tumblr media
Victor's grave is central to the Goth family graveyard. His gravestone is the largest one available - a pillar - which means he died having earned more than 150,000 Lifetime Points.
Surrounding his grave is a dark Hilt & Foil Fence with two gates - presumably so his gravestone can be accessed for cleaning - the corners of which are adorned with a total of four evergreens. As with Prudence's grave, these symbolise eternal life, since evergreens retain their leaves during winter.
Victor died of old age.
Gretle Goth - Gunther's mother
Tumblr media
Gretle's grave has the most items around it. Her gravestone is the medium-sized one, which means she died having earned between 75,000 and 149,999 Lifetime Points.
Planted beside her grave is an Ornamental Plumb Tree (as per the one planted beside Simon Crumplebottom's grave, this is a Sims reference to the Ornamental Plum Tree, whose meaning is that of hope after enduring a long cold season).
Between the tree and the gravestone is a pot of Calla Lilies. Lilies are traditionally mourning flowers and their white variants are often associated with rebirth and resurrection (they're frequently used in churches around Easter, as well as in funeral wreaths), but in The Sims 3 we only have the pink variant. Pink Calla Lilies are rarer than white ones, and they symbolise love, admiration, appreciation, and oftentimes also romance.
Of greatest interest here, though, is the bench positioned facing the grave. Somebody clearly comes here for some peaceful time, and to be close to Gretle's final resting place.
Gretle died of old age.
Finally, the mystery...
Lolita Goth - unknown
Tumblr media
Lolita's gravestone is the smallest type - a tablet - which means she died having earned a total of less than 75,000 Lifetime Points.
The only ornamentation on Lolita's grave are three plots of planted daisies, which have many different meanings, including: innocence, purity, hope, patience, simplicity, and loyal love.
Lolita died of electrocution.
I'm not here to debate all the theories about Lolita: about whether she's actually Frida Goth, or whether she's based on the Nabokov novel (and, if so, which male Sim was 'her' Humbert Humbert). I'm just going to mention what I've used for my story.
In my personal headcanon, Lolita is Gunther's first wife, who died in a tragic accident. In The Sims 3, electrocution only happens after a Sim has already been shocked once: if they're shocked again while still in their 'singed' state, that's the point where they die of electrocution.
There are a few electrical items in the Goth household in Sunset Valley: a fridge, the oven (which clearly is the kind that has electric rings rather than gas burners), five table lamps, four floor lamps, and a number of ceiling lamps. You could also count the Audio Lite portable stereo in Mortimer's room, but - given its portability - it's clearly battery-powered rather than mains-powered. But any number of these items could have been purchased more recently.
When resurrected, Lolita's main everyday outfit looks very 1960s in style, with her mini-dress reminiscent of the style of Mary Quant, and her long hair held back with a wide hairband. Her formal outfit is a little more eclectic, being a corseted long dress, but her sleepwear and swimwear are both flowered, and - of course - the 60s were known as the Flower Power era.
Granted, this doesn't quite fit the assumed timelines of the Sims games (which are kind of all over the place anyway). One item description in The Sims 2 seems to date that game to around the early 2000s. Since TS2 takes place 50 years after TS3, this puts TS3 at around the 1950s. However... the 1950s didn't feature many of the types of item found in the base game, including the Audio Lite portable stereo in Mortimer's room (which resembles something more from the 1980s than the 1950s).
So, just who is tending the graves of the women on Gunther's side of the family? The graves for Cornelia's side of the family have decorations that require little maintenance: occasional trimming of the evergreens and a wipe-down of the gravestones.
But for Gretle and Lolita Goth? There's that pot of flowers for Gretle, which would - in reality - need watering. There are planted flowers for Lolita, which would - again, in reality - need weeding and watering. Gretle's grave also has a bench facing it, which means someone goes to sit out there sometimes. Maybe Gretle passed before Victor, and he put the bench there, or maybe Gunther added the bench. But someone is tending those two graves.
ETA: As if to make a point, in the game that I started up to take these screenshots, Victor came out to haunt on the full moon, and sat by Gretle's grave :'(

Sims in Bloom Legacy - Gen 1
an original challenge by @a-sims-garden
Violet spent her morning preparing a fresh meal for Agatha and Agnes Crumplebottom. Her garden is flourishing nicely, and she is proud of the fact all of the ingredients she is using to cook with, had been nurtured and grown by her very own hands
Tumblr media
Not that it would make a difference to sour Aunt Agnes, she was still salty about the fact that Prudence Crumplebottom had left her country cottage to her estranged, illegitimate granddaughter Violet, who no-one even knew existed until a year ago! Agnes still finds it suspicious that Violet appeared on the scene, just as mother was failing. Violet smiles as she thinks of her Aunt Agatha however. She was such a ray of light and sunshine compared to the drab greyness of Agnes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure enough, Agnes barely mumbled a greeting as she swept in and sat down, and was a stormy cloud ruining the sunny conversation between Agatha and Violet. 'Were you not aware that hats are to be worn at formal brunch dates?' Agnes sneered 'And I am sure that skirt is hitting above the knee. You should cover yourself up!'
Tumblr media
Agatha tutted gently, 'Agnes, please, just eat your brunch and be graceful' she says gently, then looking at Violet 'This is very lovely, Angel, you have green fingers, just like your grandmother!' she looks around 'And you have the house looking lovely so far!'
Tumblr media
Agnes glares at her cousin 'I am sure she is nothing like Mother, she has no grace and decorum!' she hisses
'Unlike you dear cousin. It is not good manners to insult your hostess during a lovely brunch. Your Mother would not approve' Agatha replies casually, enjoying Agnes bristle, and winking quickly at Violet, who fought to hold in a chuckle.

Back to the Beginning of Pleasantview! We finally meet the other half of Kynda Pleasant, Les Pleasant! And he really is less pleasant... Not that Kynda minds! Babby is formed. Gretle Goth comes over for a dip in the pool, and we hire a maid - Kate Long aka Kaylynn Langerak with a makeover and new name, as I accidentally got a version of empty Pleasantview which still had Bella Goth, Kaylynn and Gordon King. Sweet Susan Burb comes over to welcome the neighbours, and Les finally shows his true colours, annoying both Susan and Gretle while they try and play miniature golf in the basement. Prudence Crumplebottom sneaks in but steers clear of Les and drinks the bar dry instead. Then an unsuspecting Sef Darong walks by, but no! He is not safe either! Les tells him to go away with his fabulous film star good looks! Benjamin Burb happens to then come along and like the brown noser he is, compliments Les on his manly aggression... Anything for a free meal, that guy. Not got a clue what Kynda was doing this whole time. She's pregnant, so probably just eating and sleeping.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway! We say goodbye to the Pleasants and hello to the Danders, Marshall and Melinda. Marshall works in the military, and is a very sweet sociable guy. Melinda is in Athletics and a bit meaner but still loves to mingle. Melinda headed off to work leaving Marshall to greet the welcome wagon, consisting of Kynda Pleasant, and Mags and Bob Newbie. Bob had a dastardly plan, probably to steal the newspaper. Luckily his gorgeous wife Mags was there to distract him from such crimes with a bit of booty shaking and pillow fights. Marshall, like the good host he is, made some lovely comforting soup for his guests, which seemed to atttract Gretle Goth, Prudence Crumplebottom and Lina Darong over as well. Victor Goth popped by and was immediatelly unhappy with the company his wife was keeping - Les Pleasant had turned up for his wife too and were all over each other, Bob Newbie was checking out Lina Darong, and he didn't like the look of this military guy. Victor scolded poor Marshall and took his wife home. After a busy day for Marshall, he was happy to have his wife and home to himself again.

165 Sim Lane
I rebuilt this lot months ago, but never got around to using it. It took me several hours just to furnish it, and by the end, I was too burnt out to work on the details (like individualizing the wallpapers, painting the ceilings, putting in curtains, buying paintings, etc). I also wanted to decorate it with a lot of Christmas stuff because it's winter, and I feel like Dina would be excited about decorating for Christmas (especially right after getting engaged to Mortimer). But I kind of just put a Christmas tree in the living room and called it a day 😅 Dina's lazy, so I guess it tracks ;)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My game has been kind of glitchy when it comes to throwing parties. I always set winter (January) as the first season of the year. For some reason, it makes my game register the first day of the save as the last day of winter, so the only party I can throw is the new year's bash. The last several times I've done the scripted events, I've had to marry Don and Cassandra without throwing a party. It makes the Goth family's backyard feel a little strange. They're clearly expecting a lot of guests, but it ends up being just the family.
So when I was redesigning the lot, I wanted the wedding supplies to be a little more permanent. I wanted the setup to look like many Goths (and their family friends) have gotten married here over many decades (and perhaps even the past century). It suits Mortimer very well, since I usually use him as Pleasantview's priest. As the person who's officiated most (if not all) of Pleasantview's marriages, I think it's fitting that his yard is relatively open to those who want a more private wedding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the Goth graveyard, I used mike_1102's urnstone spawner to add Frida Goth and Prudence Crumplebottom to the graveyard. The graves are kind of difficult to see because they're overgrown with weeds. I didn't think much about it until I was taking the screenshots, but perhaps Mortimer would still be maintaining Gunther and Cornelia's graves? Though Mortimer is 60 (at least in my game), so perhaps he's lost all interest in gravesite upkeep.
Not pictured, but across from these graves, I put Agnes and Frida in the same plot, the same way that I usually place the graves of married couples. I'm sure Agnes is in the Goth graveyard as a Sims 1 easter egg, but I find it kind of interesting that Agnes is in the Goth graveyard, and Frida Goth was never married 🤔 Though it's very possible Maxis left Frida out of the graveyard because she would've been buried with her husband's family...but I think it's a lot more interesting to headcanon Agnes and Frida living in the Goth mansion as "roommates."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I mentioned earlier in the post, I wanted to do some Christmas decorations, but I only ended up with the Christmas tree. I wanted to move some of the furniture in a way that felt cramped - basically, like Dina was pushing the family's belongings into a corner so that her decorations took precedence. The biggest problem was the piano, which got shoved into the hallway outside the third floor study. But when I was trying to find a place for Cassandra's robotics station, I needed the space, so I had to move the piano somewhere else. I ended up taking out the archway between the living room and the kitchen so I could fit the piano there.
It ended up working out because I really wanted the Goths to have a grand piano. Now its on the opposite wall as the upright, in the kitchen. I feel the Goths have done a lot of entertaining over the years. Especially with their wedding setup in the yard.
Overall, decorating the Goth mansion (particularly the living room) has been challenging because I see Mortimer as a bit of a snob/technophobe, and he would absolutely loathe having a TV in his home, especially his living room.
I'm not playing a strictly 2000's save, but if this save were to start in 2004, Mortimer would've been born in 1944. Wikipedia says that half of US households owned a TV in 1955. So realistically, it's not like TV was after his time or anything. But perhaps Gunther and Cornelia were part of the "TV is rotting the youth's mind" crowd, and Mortimer carried that belief all the way into his golden years.
Additionally, I gave Mortimer (and the Goths) a phonograph and a rotary phone. Phonographs may have been a little before Mortimer's time, but I like to think that it was an heirloom from Gunther and Cornelia, or perhaps even Victor and Gretle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though Mortimer is a technophobe/snob, I doubt he's in the kitchen very much. I'm sure that Bella used to order high-end appliances, and I doubt that Cassandra shares her dad's weird technological hangups. So I gave her all the nice appliances.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mortimer and Cassandra's bedrooms are pretty much the same size, but Mortimer's bedroom is a little more cramped because of the fireplace. Since Dina has just moved in, I figured one of the very first things she'd do is buy new bedding. So she threw out his old black sheets and replaced them with red blankets that have hearts on them. Meanwhile, I kept Cassandra's color scheme black and red in order to fit with the rest of the house - though I kind of wish I'd made her bedding all black to distinguish herself from Dina. Or maybe the red reminds her of Bella?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The rooms on the third floor are unfortunately very tiny. I wanted to fit as many bedrooms as I could because Cassandra is pretty notorious for having a large family. I also had to consider the possibility of Cassandra marrying Darren and having to make space for Dirk.
I ended up with 4 bedrooms. Each bedroom has a hallway that I ended up using as a kind of shared space. Though its hard to see, the hallway outside Alexander's bedroom has a TV in it. The only time the TV could bother Mortimer is when he's en route to his secret study - but even then, he could avoid the TV altogether by walking through Cassandra's workshop instead of the other hallway.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the 4th floor is Mortimer's secret study. I watched Bigmouth's Pleasantview series last year, and now I'm obsessed with the idea of Mortimer having a secret study. But I didn't know what to put in it!! I wanted to add a couple elixirs of life, but nobody had the aspiration points lol. So for now, I've added a couple money trees. In the actual game, money trees are pretty useless. But for storytelling purposes, perhaps these are the actual source of the Goth family's fortune? ;)

Goth/Crumplebottom Family
Spero apprezziate. XO

Gunther looks like a rockstar with that hair in the last image. He now just needs a eyebrow piercing, some tattoos and a guitar. XD
