Daniel Pleasant.

At this point, I should just make a master list of non-white sims premades, because it’s a shocking amount of them, which I really appreciate considering we can barely have black characters in media in 2024 without people calling it “woke”

But anyway, did you know that Daniel Pleasant isn’t really white? He’s a mixed red-head, but he isn’t white! His sister isn’t either.

Here’s his sister Jennifer Burb, who is extremely clearly black lol. SHE STOLE ALL OF HIS MELANIN!!!!

His mom Diane is clearly black, but looking back into her own parents’ (Daniel’s grandparents) her dad is clearly black, but her mom looks to be either mixed white/black or just white, I honestly can’t tell. Though even if you ignore the grandparents, she has dark skin in every version of the games that she’s existed in and her parents did not exist in sims 1.

BUT WAIT, the crazy part isn’t even over.

Daniel is only half black, maybe… but look at his dad’s side of the family.

Here’s Jeff, his father. Jeff doesn’t look too non-white at first glance does he? Well let’s consult Daniel’s grandma and grandpa…

Now it might just be me… but neither of them look white? When it comes to these two, they could really be anything that maxis thought of them to be when creating them… however. How I personally am interpreting them is Kynda is an Asian woman and Les is possibly a Native American man? I could be so wrong, but that’s my read. And therefore, that’s how I’m reading Jeff Pleasant.

And this doesn’t really back my claim up but I just think it’s interesting, here’s Jeff’s model from The Sims on console:

You can’t tell me this isn’t an Asian man lol. He had black hair pre-sims 2 even though his simPE data says he had red hair when alive I do not consider that canon bro clearly had black hair like his mom.

This all brings me back to Daniel. Daniel is, in my opinion, a half black quarter Asian and quarter native man. Which makes some form of sense when looking at his complexion, he isn’t super light, he looks kinda like his dad.

(Actually he looks even darker in his sims console form + he originally had brown hair instead of red, he looked so much more like his mom in this version???)

I just think that genetics played a NASTYYYY trick on him, because he came out tan skinned and red-headed. And his baby sister got the hair texture and most of the melanin. I’d be so pissed off. And to make matters worse for him, he didn’t even get any Asian features from his grandma. He got his mama’s eyes, his daddy’s nose, and his granddaddy’s red hair.

Back to the Beginning of Pleasantview! We finally meet the other half of Kynda Pleasant, Les Pleasant! And he really is less pleasant... Not that Kynda minds! Babby is formed. Gretle Goth comes over for a dip in the pool, and we hire a maid - Kate Long aka Kaylynn Langerak with a makeover and new name, as I accidentally got a version of empty Pleasantview which still had Bella Goth, Kaylynn and Gordon King. Sweet Susan Burb comes over to welcome the neighbours, and Les finally shows his true colours, annoying both Susan and Gretle while they try and play miniature golf in the basement. Prudence Crumplebottom sneaks in but steers clear of Les and drinks the bar dry instead. Then an unsuspecting Sef Darong walks by, but no! He is not safe either! Les tells him to go away with his fabulous film star good looks! Benjamin Burb happens to then come along and like the brown noser he is, compliments Les on his manly aggression... Anything for a free meal, that guy. Not got a clue what Kynda was doing this whole time. She's pregnant, so probably just eating and sleeping.

Anyway! We say goodbye to the Pleasants and hello to the Danders, Marshall and Melinda. Marshall works in the military, and is a very sweet sociable guy. Melinda is in Athletics and a bit meaner but still loves to mingle. Melinda headed off to work leaving Marshall to greet the welcome wagon, consisting of Kynda Pleasant, and Mags and Bob Newbie. Bob had a dastardly plan, probably to steal the newspaper. Luckily his gorgeous wife Mags was there to distract him from such crimes with a bit of booty shaking and pillow fights. Marshall, like the good host he is, made some lovely comforting soup for his guests, which seemed to atttract Gretle Goth, Prudence Crumplebottom and Lina Darong over as well. Victor Goth popped by and was immediatelly unhappy with the company his wife was keeping - Les Pleasant had turned up for his wife too and were all over each other, Bob Newbie was checking out Lina Darong, and he didn't like the look of this military guy. Victor scolded poor Marshall and took his wife home. After a busy day for Marshall, he was happy to have his wife and home to himself again.

I want to clarify that I did the cloning due to Carrit's 2019 mod, Completely Resurrectable base-games hoods (& optional extras), and due to his words in the comments he said that his mod can be used freely as long as it not in paid means, without anything else to add, thanks for you contribution, without it would not have been able to clone and export the Sim.

The Pleasants decided to visit Jeff’s parents’ ranch at autumn just as the holiday season started while Diane’s parents, the Danders, paid them a visit for a big family dinner. (click more to read my headcanon on their characteristics and share with me your thoughts please :D)

Les ‘Pop Pop’ Pleasant is a retired and opinionated army man and rancher with an affinity for ‘manly’ activities like fishing and hunting. He was tough on Jeff when he was a boy and that’s why Jeff raised his kids in a different way. Though he can be bigoted and conservative, he is generally a fun grandfather for the kids with lots of stories to tell, especially now that he’s in a wheelchair after breaking his hip while he was firing a shotgun at moles in his yard.

Kynda ‘Grammy’ Pleasant is a homemaker and former champion horse-rider in Appaloosa Plains in her youth. Nowadays, she mostly takes care of Les and watches crime dramas on television. Though she is a meddling mother in-law to Diane, she is especially fond of Daniel as the eldest grandchild, always spoiling him with treats and lunch money. Like her husband, she isn’t very nice, but she’s more passive-aggressive and cuts Les when his talk of politics are starting to bother people. 

Marshall ‘Granddady’ Danders was buddies with Les during their army years and so they go way back, but he is much more reserved and no-nonsense. He is a tall, dark, and handsome figure even in his twilight years and now spends his retirement with his wife Melinda traveling around SimNation on their globetrotting caravan. He loves old movies and shared this passion with his daughter when she was growing up. 

Melinda ‘Nana Mel’ Danders is a chatty busybody who often takes things personally. Nevertheless, she is a loving grandmother to her granddaughter Jennifer; both girls are thick as thieves and she enjoys taking Jennifer out for ice cream and walks to the park. Diane rather envies the relationship between them as Mel damaged her self-esteem, having grown up with her criticisms in her effort to be a ‘loving’ mother. Mel and Kynda are good friends and enjoy watching crime dramas together while criticizing Diane and cutting coupons.  Jeff Pleasant is a drill instructor in the army who is an intimidating and tough vet on the job. He does not bring his work home, however, and is a very loving father and dutiful husband at the Pleasant abode; at home, he immediately shifts into a quiet and kindly suburban father who keeps his dreams to himself. He spends his time playing soccer and other sports with his children, but when he’s alone he can kick back and have fun with the rest of ‘em; before he went bald and entered the military, he was a hip long-haired guy with a fondness for what they call ‘oldies’ music now. 

Diane Pleasant moved to the suburbs so that she could establish herself not as just a mother and housewife, but also as an independent woman. She actively participates in neighborhood activities such as fundraisers, petitions, and the welcoming committee, and is present in several hobby classes as well as a member of the PTA. She is a woman who fights for her ideals and strives for the ideal, having to ignore the naysayers which told her she would amount to nothing in life. Managers do NOT wanna see her. 

Daniel Pleasant is just busy being a teenager who simply wants to have fun playing sports and hanging out with his friends. He is a lot like his mother in the sense that he strives for ideals–he is popular, he’s good at sports, and his grades aren’t bad. The issue is, he doesn’t realize that he’s doing things merely out of ideals and not out of actual passion. Despite this, he idolizes his father. Both are very close and often talk about the outer space, so naturally Daniel wants him to be the first Sim on Mars.  Jennifer Pleasant is a tomboy who probably loves playing sports more than his brother as she couldn’t stop talking about it–rightfully so, because she dreams of being a soccer superstar and is very updated on the going-ons of SimCity’s sports. She is a firecracker and a delight to be around, but she can be rather cross when she loses–she’s inherited the temper from her mother’s side of the family. She really wants to have a dog of her own since she’s always been close to her Pop Pop’s old hound dog Bubba.

So I’ve been playing Marka’s Beginning of Pleasantview and I didn’t really expect to get into it, but here I am on the second rotation in a neighbourhood  with 20 bloody families to get through and I’m actually enjoying it. I’m still continuously trying out new bit of custom content, trying to play a maxis match type game to keep my downloads folder small (haha) . 

So here is Bob Sr. Newbie with his twin daughters Belinda and Karen. He and his wife Mags were supposed to have a son and call him Bob. Mags died in childbirth. Hers was not the first death in Pleasantview but Ive only just started taking pics of my gameplay and I’m not ready to deal with the Crumplebottom conundrum yet.

He tries to be a good dad but he hates it and is quite literally miserable until they turn into children. He is a romance sim who wants to ho around with 20 other sims. Its not gonna happen but he might have some fun along the way.

Fatima Simovitch kept him company those first few nights. He’s pretty sure she’s crazy after she went and named her son Bob after him. The kid wasnt even his and what did her husband Vadim think. All she was to him was a notch on the bedpost.

Toddlerhood was even less fun. He barely kept himself alive but the girls made it through. They learned no toddler skills and they smelled bad a lot of the time but they survived. (haha...Karen is bald).

They made it to childhood. Karen is on the right, Belinda is on the left. Whats up with your face Karen?

She’s not wrong.

Bob Sr. had hoped for more fun now the girls could fend for themselves a bit more but when he invited Susan Burb over...

“Hey...it’s not mine is it?” His eyes shifting nervously to her belly.

“No Bob, we haven’t woohoo’d. You do know how that works right?”

Mags came back to torture her daughter Belinda, because Belinda got a proper bed....?

Poor kid.

These ghosts can’t go to the graveyard until someone has enough money to buy it. Everyone is poor at the moment.

Continuation from my previous question: MOAR WEIRD (PUNY) NAMES: Les and Kynda Pleasant. (Aka Less Pleasant and Kinda Pleasant?!) WHY, EAXIS, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?

Well, I mean, we’ve got Bella Swan in Twilight – beautiful swan, which seems like an obvious reference to “The Ugly Duckling”  but no one in canon ever brings it up. I kept waiting for it!  (or even Isabella Swan = Is A Bella [beautiful] Swan). It’s part of why I always thought it was funny she insisted on Bella; if I were her, I’d probably want people to call me Izzy so the “beautiful swan” thing wouldn’t be as obvious. So I was pretty psyched when Mike Newton brought it up in his wedding toast in the Bella & Edward Wedding video bonus feature (Mike’s ‘beautiful swan’ comments start around 5:45). 

It’s such an obvious joke that I wish the series had leaned into it more. I don’t think even Edward in his rapturous descriptions of her in Midnight Sun even goes there? There’s also something there with swans + vampires. I can’t quite articulate it but something about how swans have long necks and vampires like to bite them? The bittersweet melancholy and relationship to death or the withdrawal from society of a ‘swan song?’ IDK. Something.

round 2 - cameron condo (pt 2)

liliths needs got more and more all over the place as her pregnancy progressed so i wasnt surprised at all that when she gave birth it ended up being twins

jeff and kylie cameron were born on monday. jeff was named after liliths grandfather jeff pleasant. there IS a lady whose name starts with k in her family tree - jeffs mother, daniels grandmother and liliths great-grandmother kynda pleasant (wife of les pleasant) but i feel like that name works better if theres a pun in the last name. like in my previous pleasantview when i named one of dustin and angelas daughters kynda broke

the next day, because what the fuck else - derek got his ass fired because he made a bad decision at work. so now both him and lilith were unemployed, with like thirty simoleons to their name (baby stuff costs money and they had to build a whole new ROOM which they already had mostly done with the money they got when they sold a free sample flat screen tv derek got from fellow sim state student cheri warner)

they did have an easel though

and for the first time since college, lilith suddenly wanted to paint again. wanted to sell a masterpiece. AUTONOMOUSLY went to the easel that id placed in the corner of the tiny living room

apparently none of the paintings lilith did at sim state had been masterpieces(tm) cos when she finished her first work she got the memory of selling her first masterpiece? idk but not complaining, she got like 600 simoleons from that one alone

lilith then rolled the want to get a pottery wheel so she got one, making the family broke again

the twins aged up on thursday. jeff is a pisces and will eventually become a knowledge sim, kylies a taurus and will be a romance sim

derek spent most of the weekend teaching the twins to walk and talk while lilith continued to paint. lilith managed to potty train the kids though

at the end of this round, both lilith and derek are unemployed but work as independent artists - lilith as a painter, and derek as a novelist. he rolled the want to write a bestseller so he wrote a novel - hed maxed out his creativity playing liliths piano - and published it on sunday to a roaring success

so hopefully theyll manage. right now things are like, okay. i just hope they dont get any more children cos theres just No Room in this place

It's Beginning of Pleasantview time again, and this time we visit the Newbie and Simovitch households. Bob (Senior) and Mags Newbie are crazy in love and all over each other constantly, resulting in a baby in the oven before the welcome wagon arrived! 🍼 Mags immediately started a most unwell pregnancy, while Bob was entertaining Fatima Simovitch, Lina Darong and Kynda Pleasant. After a quick chat to the neighbours and lunch, Mags took herself off for a lovely bubble bath 🛀 asking Bob to politely say goodbye to their guests... I don't think Mags meant for Bob to kiss Fatima goodbye though 👀 Their future children are meant to be spouses!! I sent Bob out fishing to keep him out of trouble for the rest of the evening.

Onto the household of Vadim and Fatima Simovitch, and a blissfully unaware Vadim kisses his beloved wife goodbye as he heads off to work as a Clam Wrangler. How cute are Fatima's chubby cheeks? 🤩 Fatima hopes to sell a masterpiece one day, so makes a start on a painting. Benjamin Burb can never resist a free lunch though 🥪 So in he comes to chat all things love and marriage over a cucumber sandwich. Soon they are joined by Melinda Danders, and a newly madeover Irma Oldie, now Irma Olden. But while the guests amuse themselves, Vadim has come home and takes the opportunity to get his wife under the bed covers... and another baby is on the way. They celebrate with a romantic dance next to the toilet 🚽

Kynda Pleasant is such an Aries grandma. First, she asks pushes Jennifer to give her a kiss on the cheeks (to which she responded rather rudely). Secondly, she nags her daughter in-law about how she needs to take better care of her son. And lastly, she just....has a stroke (???) while talking to her favorite grandson??? And she’s just going on and on...

I'm back with a few photos from my Beginning of Pleasantview hood. I'm using the sims from here, most edited facially, and the empty hood here, with a few extra lots, and edits by me.

First we have Victor and Gretle Goth, from the infamous Goth dynasty, who welcome into their home Benjamin Burb, Kynda Pleasant and Lina Darong. After dinner, the Goths celebrate Victor's promotion in the Business career, and I hear chimes - baby Cornelia or Gunther are on their way! Victor has a quiet drink to toast to the next generation of Goths 🥂

Next we have another rich, fancy family consisting of Simon and Prudence Crumplebottom.
