How did you get so good at animating and drawing? Aside from practice, what techniques do you use? What software do you use?

I only know the basics/fundamentals of both drawing and animation.

For drawing, I've carried out lessons about the Elements and principles of design, the history of graphics design, traditional drawing techniques, color theory, anatomy, character design, blah blah blah. Lots of info I still do my best to practice/put in my art. If y'all notice me animating gifs then it's bc I have time to do so... ( I'm in term break until late July ) They're likely short, but it's through animation blocking, timing, and incorporating both in-betweens and tweening.

I've used Adobe Animate/After Effects for school projects, sometimes for doodles only, I currently use Clip Studio Paint bc it's where I'm more comfy with ^^ Maybe someday I'll be able to afford Toon Boom hehe.

i fear that attempts to destigamtize mental health treatment have failed to adequately account fot the degree of abuse that occurs within psychiatry, both the institutionally enforced, restraint, isolation, nonconsentual drugging, shocks, etc, and consequently enabled, our testimony will never be taken seriously so power weilders can do whatever they please, perhaps just simple rulebreaking or boundary crossing, but often truly horrible and illegal actions, as well. these two categories overlap often and affect many, especially those in the less rich, cushy hosptials for the sad vs places they send the real tough cases. sorry to say but your 6-day ~grippy sock vacation~ at the same place they put famous actors and fortune 500 CEOs is not the same as being dissapeared for months, years, with no access to the world and no defense against malice and i dont care if you think it's bad that i am anti-psychiatry because your experience was good, because we had some wildly different experiences.

was reading through one of your old posts, as one does, and this part really jumped out at me:

because i usually agree with your scholarship™️ but i feel like you’re being very generous with marc here. i saw he said this in mm: all in too and like maybe i’m just against taking riders at face value but i highly doubt he defended from dani and sat behind jorge the whole race because trying a move would have been “risky” and he had no motivation to risk anything. and even if it were, since when has marc marquez ever shied away from a risky move? he wanted to cost vale his 10th, and he did, and i feel like blaming it on his supposed new-found risk avoidance instincts or whatever kinda cheapens the whole narrative? and is a little unfair towards what vale lost as well as marc’s own motivations for why he did what he did. like idk i could always be wrong but it just feels so deliberate to me (especially after sepang where you would feel he took his frustrations out anyway by sticking to vale the whole race + vale was harshly penalised going into valencia) that like even if it wasn’t a “risky” move he just wouldn’t have gone for it, because he wasn’t concerned with winning the race at all he just wanted to ruin vale’s day

icl I have zero clue what post this is from. I also operate on a strict one month warranty on a rolling basis for my opinions where I stand by nothing I said over a month ago. so who knows whether I was saying something sensible or not

but well. that being said. to engage with the points in your ask - I do generally agree with the idea that marc by that point probably was pretty happy to lose valentino the title... but I do think *that specific situation* was more complicated than that. like, yes, marc does tend to put on moves wherever possible - but he's also in a situation where his every move is being scrutinised more than it ever had before and it would've had insane repercussions if he'd taken out jorge. and he WAS riding close to jorge throughout the race, which did put jorge under more pressure than he would otherwise have been... ideally if you're helping someone out, you'd really back off more than that. obviously marc did also have to fend off dani behind him so that did mean he couldn't massively drop the pace, so I guess that one's also up to interpretation. the other big factor... it's worth pointing out. I think we're still a fair way off from the time at which it will be acceptable to mock the valencia track again, so let me just politely comment that it is not the easiest track to overtake at. you can do it if you have a sizeable speed advantage like valentino did over the field (plus obviously he also has his race craft going for him), but there's really not much in the way of convenient overtaking spots if you're as close in pace as marc and Jorge were. so if you've got a genuine lack of opportunities due to the scarcity of feasible overtaking spots... and that chimes with saying that marc was NOT prepared to make any move that had a significant chance of crashing out himself or Jorge and benefiting valentino. there just weren't many high margin moves available!!

anyway that's the practical argument. marc DID learn some lessons from 2015, he was considerably less idiotic in 2016, and while that part of him never left his competitive dna entirely... he did at least somewhat see sense. marc does sometimes shy away from risky moves, he's won some titles through consistency as much as he has pure pace - 2016 involved a lot of settling for favourable positions rather than pushing for the victory to seal that title. tbh you've even seen it this year, like obviously he's still been trying to win in the last few rounds but it's also quite clear the 'ooh boy knocking out one of the title contenders (especially the italian who will be my teammate next year) would be a Bad Look' part of his brain HAS been more or less functional. a big reason why marc passed valentino a bunch of time at sepang and marc did not pass jorge at valencia was.... well, watch the first few laps of the sepang 2024 race and then compare and contrast with basically any premier class race we've had in valencia. sometimes things like this are just dictated by the literal sport! sometimes it's not all psychology and character deep dives and narrative arcs, sometimes it's just track characteristics or chance. a lot of valencia races have involved at least some rain - and if it had rained in valencia that year, there's a pretty solid chance we'd be having very different conversations about the 2015 season. sometimes that's just how these things go... kinda mundane things can arguably cheapen the narrative while still being true

all that being said, sure, I think marc was opposed to valentino winning the title by that point, if he wasn't already anyway! I mean marc saying he wasn't willing to risk anything in that race after what valentino had done (as he did in Marc Marquez: All In TM) is quite frankly already beyond what I personally would have admitted in his shoes. tacitly (barely) it is already an admission that what had happened between him and valentino affected how he approached that race. which, no shit, but obviously that is already different to what he said *at the time*. I think ideally he would have liked to sit behind jorge for most of the race and then passed him late on, winning the race himself but also not benefiting valentino (who would've needed dani to overtake too). in the end, marc ended up getting distracted by a fight with dani late in the race, which is another factor to consider... so yeah, in the abstract sense, of course marc didn't want to help out valentino by that point in the season. but in reality, the more... practical elements of the do does also play a major role. maybe if sepang hadn't happened, marc would have made some big lunging move at jorge. it's very possible!! but he also might have not. the race might have played out in the exact same way, minus valentino starting from the shadow realm. it's the boring answer, but sometimes things are boring

ok yeah i’ve also been bouncing around “what if i put the sun and moon blorbos into my oc world” and honestly there’s nothing concrete i have yet so here’s some ideas:

1) sun and moon are still animatronics and wake up to an unfamiliar world years in the future after y/n manages to charge them and wake them up. they now have to adjust to a fantasy world where magic is real and also everything and everyone they knew is dead and buried because of the apocalypse that happened lifetimes ago

2) sun and moon are humans, and made a shrine in their backyard to see what minor deity would claim it. y/n, the god of rebirth, claims it instead. as the god of rebirth, 1 of their main things to do is live a new life like really often, which makes them an especially slippery god to catch, even for the other gods. honestly there’s 2 ways this can go afterwards

2a) y/n goes “oh cool!” and proceeds to live their newest life near the boys

2b) they stay as a god for a while, because they want a bit of a break, and make friends with some humans. this is new to them because they’re not a human making human friends, they’re a god making human friends

but god y/n would find it funny that sun and moon’s household worships the sun and moon gods :V theyre like “oh lol the sun and moon themed twin humans live in a house that worships the sun and moon themed twin gods” (y/n might also debate going “fun fact! the sun god is dead. half of your worship is going to waste”) (sorry soli but 1 of you has to die and i let lumi live instead)

oh yeah there’s also a lot of dead gods here. that’s the source of the apocalypse itself. the planet itself is hell of a lot colder than it used to be because the sun god is dead (ice age... 3!). death, ocean, etc, theyre all really messed up thanks to the sudden vacuum in gods

Firstly stating, I’m black & genderfluid. Anyone turning this situation to it being people hating black people for DISAGREEING with the things that Rose has said are fucking weird and I hate people like you. Why make everything about hating black people because you don’t like what a black person has said? You’re downplaying this important discussion by making it about “us attacking a small black trans artist” which is odd as fuck. We’re not entitled to be disrespectful, transphobic or sexist just for being black and/or trans. AND if you’re personally not apart of the communities discussed in this IMPORTANT situation, stay the fuck out of it, you have no right to speak on anything. Speak your truth on the parts you’re apart of and leave the rest to voices apart of the communities that were affected by the things said by Rose.

It’s kinda sad seeing you talk poorly about yourself in the beginning of that. Anyone can be understanding to that, that doesn’t mean we should use harsh words towards you because of that. Yeah, being upset about not having more body typed LIs in a game is fair but it’s not like it’s a new thing and you did what you felt you could at the time being why the fuck should we berate you for it when you’re expanding now? Reaching people farther and wider…?

“Fed up” is such a weird thing to say as well, it’s honestly concerning and makes this whole thing even more ridiculous to me. Rose’s job as a sensitivity reader is to be more mindful and point out things in a responsible, respectful manner. In the end, this isn’t THEIR game. You seem to be an open-minded person so I see no reason why they need to disrespect you in the way they do—whether you deny it and slide it off as a joke or not. You may not mind it but seeing that can be really jarring, plus reading the things on their BLOG before even being hired? About the game, about you, about male MCs now, about Terry, about Baxter, it’s all very fucking weird. My tags say it all but yeah.

Disagreeing on Terry’s design is absolutely fair, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The design could have been better but it doesn’t stray from realism of how transmen wear clothes & how their body types are. They don’t owe you masculinity, to wear xyz to look MASCULINE to you. Especially opinions being stated by someone who isn’t a transgender man. Again, referring to my own identity I won’t speak much on Terry because that discussion is meant to be between transmen only.

Whole thing is disappointing, was hoping better after finding this out but the lackluster apology and response was just absolutely insane to read. If you… forgive Rose’s behavior and expect us to do the same, can’t so much as you’re the dev but this community feels a whole lot less safer and less comfortable. I’ll be keeping my distance in the meanwhile.

EDIT: Rereading the screenshots too, they’re literally giving you a bad look. (Rose and Uri for saying YOU picked them even though they’re the ones starting discourse). Really think you need to step back and think about this throughly.

GB Patch Games: Response About Sensitivity Reader

[Some of you might not have heard of this happening, but I wanted to address it across the board]

Hey everyone,

I want to make a post about the screenshots of comments from one of our sensitivity readers. The situation is that neither me or Rose want people to feel uncomfortable with Our Life: Now & Forever, but Rose hasn’t done anything terribly wrong and isn’t going to be punished.

The comment about OL MCs wasn’t meant to be genuine hatred towards all male players/MCs of OL. Rose wrote a reply about it-

"Hi everyone! This is Rose, I want to address the male MC comment since it was taken wildly out of context and without the lengthy discussion that was after it. I don't hate male MCs, in fact far from it, male MCs are integral to the story in OL:NF as female and trans MCs are. I think the relationship they could potentially have with Qiu could be a great asset in my opinion as they figure out their gender alongside the MC. The discussion itself was about how I noticed players were sticking to heteronormative norms by shipping Tamarack with a man purely out of societal norms than it was genuine thought into the characters and how I personally wished there was more sapphic relationships with Tamarack or just Tamarack with trans characters as a sapphic trans person myself. I didn't mean to offend anyone by it as no one but my friends who understood what I legitimately meant behind my message and it definitely wasn't meant to be seen seriously. I am sorry regardless to anyone I have offended and I love your male MCs regardless."

And most of the comments were about me. I’ve seen screenshots of the full conversations and they’re not as harsh as the cropped snippets made them out to be. It was longer discussions about not including Derek in any base game Moments for no good reason and not having any plus-sized love interests in OL1 because I was afraid players wouldn’t accept it. That’s not a lie, it’s what I decided for the game I created, and it is ridiculous of me. I’m the one who should be feeling embarrassed over how OL1 will forever be that way, not the people who remember that I did that. I’m not perfect and Rose actually cares more about the players than making me feel like I am flawless.

I also don’t want to tone police an employee venting about their boss in private, on their own time. Both the OL games deal with personal, important topics. This is sensitive work, and it can bring up frustrations. Sometimes people do use harsh words among friends, but they wouldn’t ever say it to a person seriously and directly.

I understand if you wouldn’t want to see anyone speak badly of a dev you like, but I promise it’s not a point of contention between me and Rose. I don’t feel mistreated in anyway. Rose genuinely cares about the Our Life series, and that’s why they get fed up with me over certain parts of the game.

Rose has never been unkind or unreasonable to me when working on the project, and their advice is detailed and well-explained. They do care about the game and want it to avoid having content that upsets people because of my own ignorance/shortcomings.

This being shared publicly from a private server is targeting Rose and seems to be a continuation of things that have happened before this. I don’t want this to continue happening. If you do still have concerns over the one comment about the community, you can let me know. But again, I don’t want people being mistrustful of Rose on my behalf for comments about me in conversations with missing context.

Do not send angry messages to Rose about any of this. We’ll do our best so that OL2 will be better than I was before. Thank you to everyone who reads this and participates in the community!

if there’s another thing besides neglecting Wyll’s character development I will say that Larian using throat singing, Kargyraa specifically, in Bg3 as the butt of a joke is a bit of a real ass move. Shit’s cool af, considered spiritual by many cultures and is one of the most unique styles of singing we as humans can do. Other than that great games, would very much recommend but is not above criticism

Not to be a huge downer but while this stuff is cool with really great intentions, I implore folks to listen to what the marine scientists have also been saying about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. This situation is a lot more complicated than we understand. There is surprisingly a ton of biodiversity inside of it and widely scooping it all up is destroying a lot of life as well. Basically a lot more study needs to be done before we can just collect a ton of plastic and call it a day. Like Rebecca said in her tweets, we could be bulldozing a meadow and not even know it. I'm all for cleaning up plastic in the ocean. But let's do it carefully.
