This Day in Buster…January 27, 1924 The Detroit Free Press describes “Our Hospitality” as Buster Keaton’s “most elaborate comedy.” His commitment to historical detail was undeniable & would be seen again in his magnum opus, “The General,” three years later.

We don’t talk about the foreshadowing beauty that is Elucien enough.
Because tell me why when Elain is being put in the cauldron, we see Lucien struggle to get to her, break the magical binds that he is being chained in , to protect her, while sneering at the King and Hybern’s guards. Then it is later revealed that Lucien is Elain’s mate.
Or the fact that when Ferye enters Elain’s mind in ACOWAR she describes it as sealed blossoms — indirectly saying that her mind longs for sunshine to fully blossom. Then, when they ask Elain what she needs she says sunshine. Later it is revealed that Lucien is the son of Day Court’s High Lord, a court that is the literal embodiment of sunlight.
Or the fact that when Elain is described in hewn city as being drained of life in a black dress, the one bright detail in her outfit is a pearl hair clip. Then later it is revealed that, Lucien gifts her pearl earrings during Solstice.
Or the fact that Azriel gifts Elain a rose necklace during that same solstice, after it is said that Elain is hurt by rose thorns while gardening. A direct contrast to the enchanted gloves Lucien has gifted her, which later is revealed that, if worn, would’ve saved her from those thorns entirely.
Or the fact that Elain, who was once a social butterfly, becomes withdrawn in ACOWAR and struggles to find her spark. Yet, later it is revealed that her eyes spark, when she is talking to Lucien for the first time.
Its so subtle you won’t even notice it unless you take a read back.

Time Travel Question 73: Assorted Performances XII
These Questions are the result of suggestions from the previous iteration.
Please add new suggestions below if you have them for future consideration.
This is the last of the already prepped Performances polls left. Have more suggestions? Feel free to weigh in.
Unless there is a landslide of suggestions, we'll be going back to the 20th century and earlier soon. I do have some music polls I want to run in February, which will effect the posting schedule.

Old Hollywood & DC, an unrealistic casting, part I
(More details at the end, cool movies from the actors mentioned in parentheses)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hal Jordan: Richard Arlen (Wings, Beggar's of Life) – the puppy charm and the overwhelming confidence... it's all there, Arlen is also one of the guys in the first gay kiss in film history in Wings, in which he interprets a pilot, I don't think I need to say more
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lois Lane: Rosalind Russell (My Girl Friday, The Women) – I mean... it's impossible not to see the resemblance after watching My Girl Friday in which Russell interprets a brilliant journalist going into increasingly insane situations... it's one of the best comedies ever made and very Lois Lane coded
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
John Stewart: Sidney Poitier (Edge of the City, The Defiant Ones) – Neal Adams used Poitier as an inspiration to model John so this is technically cheating, but look at him! Poitier would not only be perfect for the role in looks but in talent too
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Green Arrow: Errol Flynn (Gentleman Jim) – I admit I'm not a Flynn fan and I'm also not very big on Ollie either, but I do think these two match, Flynn also interpreted Robin Hood and his dramatic role in Gentleman Jim would fit the more drastic moments of Ollie's life
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sinestro: Conrad Veidt (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Hands of Orlac, Different from the Others and anything else you can find with him in it) – Veidt is actually more known for inspiring the creation of the Joker for his film The Man Who Laughs, but he's way more than that, a talented artist, a true queer ally and a babe who would make an outstanding, overdramatic and cunty Sinestro
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zatanna: Louise Brooks (both her G.W. Pabst films are great, and Beggar's Life - with my Hal Jordan from this list) – Brooks made only a handful of films and while they're great, her strong personality in real life is what fascinates me the most, her mysterious beauty, expressive looks and dramatic range would make her an ideal Zatanna, even though her career was very short in real life
This list was inspired by this post (thanks for the idea @forthegothicheroine), it's a very anachronistic imaginary scenario, but I still followed some rules to come up with it, a) to include actors who were mostly active from the 1920s to 1970s b) who not only match the DC characters for their looks, but would also have the range to interpret them in their pre-crisis versions, so the feeling is as important as the aesthetic here c) to only include characters and actors I already had some contact with, by watching the films and reading the comics. This is only part I because there are still so many cool characters and actors I like left, but for now I'm happy with this

Buster Keaton and Marceline Day in “The Camerman” (1928). Despite being a silent film and having no intertitles during this scene, it’s possible to read Keaton’s lips as he directs Day’s character for her tintype portrait.

Prompt 67
Dan is not happy. His limbs are too small, his hands too pudgy and his body too squishy. And his so-called cousins are the same, despite the fact they were all finally going to turn eighteen (again in his case!) literally the next day!
Um, hello strange masked being, back the fuck off! Who are you?! Put him down- actually put all four of them down thank you! Those claws are very big and he’s not worried but seriously, he doesn’t want to deal with this, he wants to go back to how he was! He’s not fucking growing up a third time!
Did you just click at him?! Hell no, he’ll bite you, don’t think he won’t! So what if his powers aren’t working or that he’s now a squishy toddler thing, he’ll still bite your stupid fingers if you make his cousin-siblings scared!
Talon is just bemused at the tiny (even smaller than the ones who usually follow it!) talons that appeared in front of it with no warning. Sure they have strange green eyes instead of yellow but they smell like Talons, have claws like talons and fangs like talons, and even sound like talons! Hm… It has even more hatchlings now!

It's the penultimate episode, I've got some words for P'Dome that he'll never get to hear but most importantly I'm here to congratulate Peach and Home on not breaking up this episode. So let's get to it!
1
We begin with Home being sad looking at their ad while thinking about his gramps trying to teach him the meaning of "home"
Tumblr media
But while Pangpang puts it plainly into words
Tumblr media
Home is apparently so dense that he still hasn't figured it out
Tumblr media
We've been seeing quite clearly, and Home seems to be aware on a subconcious level at least, that Peach and the rest of the squad have become his home. But well, Home the man, clearly put all his character points into cuteness leaving none for intelligence so I guess we'll have to wait for the last (TT) episode for him to finally get it.
2
Tumblr media
Peach has gotten to know Home very well. So of course he can tell that there's something up with his platonic? boyfriend. (on the first watch i thought this was him fishing for "Home is so sad that you're leaving"-validation)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's also totally definitely not at all worried about Home. I'd say acting isn't Peach's strong suit but he did quite well with the fuckery they put on so I guess it's a case of the old can't-lie-when-it-comes-to-love.
Tumblr media
Despite his utter non-worry he still delegates Home-care to Kan which kind of implies that he sees it as his job to take care of him. (and shows how much he is worried and cares about Home but that's not really news at this point)
3
Tumblr media
Even Kan is teasing them about their relationship now.
4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure, their fight turned out to be somewhat staged to distract evil lawyer but the sentiments are nontheless quite real. The familiar territory of fighting allows them to finally speak out their feelings about what happened at the end of last episode. And, surprise, surprise, both are hurt by the idea of being left by the other, of ultimately not meaning that much to each other. (as I said, abandonment trauma rearing its ugly head) At this point, regardless of their relationship status maybe they should just get married so they'll finally feel some security in their importance to each other. (this is almost definitely not a good solution to this sort of problem irl, of course)
5
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a good thing they've been perfecting their nonverbal communication over the course of the show. It comes in quite handy in situations like this.
6
Tumblr media
Surrounded by the betrayal from his blood family, Home knows there's someone he can always trust.
Tumblr media
Peach. And the rest of the gang. His real family. (+ the friends they made along the way)
7
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene was honestly the cutest shit. The way he goes from his legs raised in happiness, to lowerd in disappointment, to swinging with giddieness. The way he's hiding under his duvet to secretly talk to his boyfriend on the phone. Ridiculously cute. This man is so in love. And he shows it like a stereotypical 12 y/o girl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Peach isn't any better with his arms on display and that fondness in his face.
8
Peach really doesn't want Home to go back to America.
Tumblr media
But while he's not getting that reassurance for now (I can't bring myself to believe he'll actually leave. Not after everything, not when the reason for his exile has been resolved, not when he's finally found the meaning of "home" so his grandpa would have allowed him to come back, anyway. And how ironic btw, that he had to come home first and face the consequences of his actions, in order to find his meaning of "home"), at least he gets some surprisingly clear real-talk on Home's feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9
Tumblr media
Peach is smelling the bs on uncle and he's not looking to become a widower. He already watched Home die once, he's really not inclined to repeat that experience.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately he let's Home convince him it'll be fine (and unfortunately Home has retained a lot of that naivete that he displayed when he first met Kan) so he's left behind to worry about Home's safety.
10
Tumblr media
This plan from the uncle is absolutely evil. To not only kill his nephew but make people, possibly even Home himself, believe that Peach is the one who killed him? To destroy his nephew's most important person in the process, not only worldly by framing him for murder, but also spiritually by having someone (Home!) die from his cooking? I'm sure to Kid this was mostly a matter of hitting two flies with one stone but whether intentional or not this plan is clearly designed for maximum cruelty. And it's made even more cruel by the love and trust Home and Peach clearly have for each other, plain for everyone, even the evil uncle, to see. But he doesn't even grant Home the knowledge of being loved at the point of his death.
Stop trying to bury our gays you pos uncle!
11
Tumblr media
As a palate cleanser, please enjoy this image of the whole happy family. Including the dads, their daughter + her wife, and ... Suradech!
Lesbian Corner
Tumblr media
Kan has been spending so much time with Pangpang that she's internalising her speech patterns.
Tumblr media
And THIS is her reaction when Peach calls her out on it. Someone's in luuurve!
