Our next Creative Worship workshop coming up in Wigtown on 26th April.

These sessions draw from various traditions and from our own creativity, but always have an emphasis on contemplative prayer. They are open to folk from any background, and are free to attend. Typically each meeting lasts around 45 minutes, with an opportunity to stay and chat at the end if you so wish.

When someone is choosing an outfit to wear for the day that makes them feel good, Aphrodite is there.

When someone kisses their partner, Aphrodite is there.

When someone walks hand in hand with a partner or friend, Aphrodite is there.

When someone goes over to their friend to comfort them, Aphrodite is there.

When someone smiles at their appearance in the mirror, Aphrodite is there.

When someone is gifted a bouquet of flowers, Aphrodite is there.

When someone writes their loved one’s name in the sand on a beach, Aphrodite is there.

When someone stands in the ocean, taking in its beauty, Aphrodite is there.

When someone is inspired to create something because of a loved one, Aphrodite is there.

When a child has their first crush, Aphrodite is there.

When someone finally feels love for the first time, Aphrodite is there.

When people dance together to a special song, Aphrodite is there.

When long-distance friends, partners, or family finally see each other in person, Aphrodite is there.

When people go on dates, Aphrodite is there.

When someone finally breaks off a toxic relationship, Aphrodite is there.

When someone sees the beauty in themself, Aphrodite is there.

Aphrodite is there for all of our beauty and love- filled moments. She loves us, and is always there for us, in the good, and the bad.

Does anyone have any tips for continuing to have faith and trust in your deity even when you aren't receiving any signs of their presence? I feel bad but it's something that I really struggle with.

Ever restful Hypnos send me into a peaceful slumber. Let my eyes become heavy, my body too. Send me off to dreamland so I may see you. Let me awaken fresh, rested and all anew. Fill my head with sweet dreams of lavender and honey. Send me into sweet slumber, that's all I ask of you.

Beloved Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty.

I call upon your divine presence to fill my life with your loving light.

Surround me with loving energy and help me see the beauty in every moment and in every person I meet.

Lord Ares Prayer / Invocation

God of war, battle, bloodlust, and courage;

Son of King Zeus and Queen Hera;

Father of the almighty Amazons;

He helps us through our battles,

Spurs us to keep going when hope is lost, but our rage is not.

A father, a guide, a teacher.

O, dreaded Ares, come to us now

For you bring us to the forefront of our glory.

Come to us and fuel the fire burning within us.

Great Lord Ares, we thank you.

Bright-helmed Ares, strong of arm and stern of visage, firm of stance, unyielding of will, ever ready to face any foe, to hold the line against all who may come, to battle until the end.

Ares, son of noble Zeus and wise Hera, cherished by golden Aphrodite,

honored by those who call on you for strength and courage,

in the north were you much honored in times of old,

in Thrace and Thesaly were you held in esteem by those whose lives were harsh, whose world was stony, whose comforts were hard-one.

Ares who answers the prayer of the despairing, I honor you.

Aphrodite altar update

O’ Aphrodite, my goddess, my protector, my confidante

I ask for your mercies, confidence, and loving energies

May it be given.

I love formal, poetic prayers. They make me feel fancy and they make me feel like I know what I’m doing. I feel close to the Gods and like They’re here, listening to me.

I love casual prayers, where I’m basically just talking to the Gods. They make me feel closer to Them and take up a lot less energy. They don’t require me to memorize something, read something, or think a lot about what I’m saying.

I use both types in my practice, depending on how I feel. Throughout the whole day, I will have quick, casual prayers like “Hey, Aph, this thing reminds me of you” or “thanks for this thing”. When I sit in front of my Altar, when I light Her candle, I tend to be more formal unless I don’t have the energy.

Both methods of prayer have their pros and cons and both are so amazing. I LOVE praying, it’s one of my favorite things.
