Another small doodle of Poseidon this time with digital art! I also added a small snippet from my fic I've been writing. I might post my design for Ody soon so I guess expect that.

FableSMP EPIC the musical AU
whole thing comes from the perspective of Midas (as Quixis specifically) being Scylla, which means Icarus has to be Odysseus, which is also fitting tbh.
this is only based on the released sagas bc i dont have the vibe of the future characters yet (i dont look at a whole lot of snippets). also dont think about any of the blood family stuff too hard - theres nothing weird dw but it just makes stuff complicated with the gods
Monsters
Scylla - Quixis Midas
The ideas of Scylla being human turned monster, Midas is human turned Quixis, which in this universe could be something of a replacement for monstrous, which also works with
Spooky bitch Midas propaganda
Look at my edit to be even more convinced
Polyphemus - Leviathan/Vorago
Probably makes most sense with Leviathan
Instead of the parent/child relationship with Poseidon they're siblings (ocie is poseidon)
Humans/Dead people
Odysseus - Icarus
Icarus has to be Ody because of Midas being Scylla
The song Monster
The conflicts within the plot work well with Icarus’ own relationships
Eury and Ody see each other as brothers, even though it isn't’t blood. Maybe they’re not blood related in this AU
Eurylochus: Rae
Brothers!!
Rae is seen as the leader of Lodestar, which works well with Eury’s place as the voice of the crew
Penelope: Centross??
prison duo
but it actually works because Icarus would do anything for him. just look at season 3
he's probably not smart enough to be penelope but the agenda is more important than that
Telemachus: Oscar
Ik Oscar isn't Icarus' kid but he is Centross and theoretically Centross would've been the one to raise him anyway
See Legendary
Polities: Athena
Optimist
Song open arms
"everything's changed since polities"
Perimedes: Caspian
Perimedes is the one who stabs Odysseus in the back to stop him from killing Eurylochus in Mutiny
For Rae? Cas wouldn't hesitate
Tireseas: Haley
Dead prophet
who else
Ody's dead mom: Isla
Isla is Icarus' mom??? In this AU??? /s
Gods
Zeus: Fable
Orignially this was Epros but I was convinced to change it
Massive ego
Yellow
Actual reasons in this post
Athena: Enderian
This could also be fable but I dont think Icarus would defy him like how he does
Goddess of the Mind, need I say more
Aeolus: Aurelius
They have the vibes I think
Aeolus is gender and so is Aurelius
There are a lot of options I think
I like the idea of the Winions(?) being the piglins they had in their bunker
Poseidon: Ocie
Ocean
At the beginning Ocie is so ready to kill people, she does not care for human life. Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves
She would do that for Vorago
Canon compliant beef with Icarus
Circe: Momboo
My first thought was Ven because I'm a fucking dumbass
It makes so much more sense than Ven
Plant lady, plant witch
badass
girlboss
pretty woman
Hermes: Rakai
They have the vibes
One of the very few gods to tolerate Icarus
gender
Apollo: Malitae
Apollo sounds so fruity in god games
Apollo cares most about music in god games which is a form of expression so i think it fits for Malitae to be him
Hephaestus: Nexus
In god games Hephaestus' thing is trust, he's pissed that Ody betrayed his crew
Nexus is the Goddess of Loyalty so it fits really well that she'd be upset about that
Nexus was also a knight so being a god of blacksmithing isn't too far from that
Aphrodite: Soul
Aphrodite cares about Ody's mom's broken heart
If we thing of it in the context of soulbonds it makes sense that Soul would be upset about that
Ares: Netherum
Ares is the only one in god games to match Athena's power, which checks out - major god to major god
Maybe its a bit ooc for Netherum themself
But god of destruction as the god of war. thats something
Would totally step in for Soul
Hera: Perix
In this AU we ignore family dynamics- Perix is not married
Calls Athena "baby" (kinda gay)
Fits the vibe
can you come up with a better idea? no, nor could I (credit to Sardar106 for this casting lol)
Calypso: Ven
They're so "This could never really happen but let us pretend"
"I wish we could've been something"
Look at this post (person who reblogged has better words than me go read that)
thank you for coming to my au talk. please share your own thoughts and opinions (but also remember that i am objectively correct all of the time /j)

Many weeks after leaving the Underworld, on a calm day of travels, Fitz heard a splash from the side of his ship. He held up his hand to signal the crew. Stop.
“Fitz? Is that you?” a voice called from the water. It couldn’t be…
For a moment, almost sounded like his first mate, Keefe. But surely he was imagining it. “Sophie?” Fitz’s voice cracked as he raced to the side of the boat. He leaned over and saw his wife sitting on a rock jutting out of the waves. Her long golden hair billowed out behind her in the salty ocean wind.
“Fitz, after all these years, don’t you miss me?” She asked, hurt in her striking brown eyes.
“Of course I do.” His voice shook as he reached out to her.
“Then jump in the water and kiss me,” she said, smiling playfully.
“Sophie, I’ve told you so many times: I’m afraid of the water.”
“Oh, darling, I’ll make sure you remain safe. Now come play with me and our son!” Sophie laughed. Fitz couldn’t remember the last time he’d heard that sound. It was amazing.
“I really would love to, but you know I’d prefer my feet on solid ground.”
“I would keep you from suffering,” Sophie reassured, her brown eyes flashing with reassurance.
“I don’t doubt that you would.”
“Then come into the water!” Fitz heard the urgency of Sophie’s voice.
“Okay, fine. But first, can you answer a few questions?”
Sophie batted her lashes. “Of course.”
Fitz sighed in relief. “Okay, so, let’s pretend I was on the run from Poseidon. And let’s say he blocked the way home with massive storms and giant waves. Which route should I take to avoid him? How do I get home?”
Sophie’s face fell. “The only way home is through a place he’d never dare to go… It’s through the lair of Scylla.”
“No,” Fitz whispered, leaning back in shock.
“It’s your only way.”
“But.. Scylla has a cost.” Fitz's mind was whirling. Scylla, Scylla, Scylla. Greet the world with open arms, Fitz. The last voice was Dex. His friend, his brother in arms… He shoved the thought away.
“Well, you asked me and now you know, so jump in the water!”
“Sophie, you know I would die for you, but can’t you let me stay dry on the boat?”
“Just, please,” she pleaded, “come into the water.”
Fitz sighed and straightened his back, shaking his head. “The things I do for you, Sophie.”
Just as he was about to jump, he stopped, a glare marring his features.
“Let’s cut this charade, you aren’t my wife! You’ve been trying to kill me this whole time. I know underwater there are more of you hiding. That’s right, I know you’re a Siren.” He spat the last word with disgust.
“How do you know that?” Sophie asked, fear making its way onto her face. But that wasn’t all… her entire body was changing, growing horrible bat wings, her hands sprouting into claws. She had fangs too, perfect for dragging sailors into the deep.
“Well, for starters, my real wife knows that I’m not scared of the water. And my real wife knows I don’t have a son!” Fitz shouted. Already more sirens were emerging from the depths of the inky black ocean, fangs bared.
“And,” Fitz added with a smirk, “while we were chatting, you didn’t notice your friends got captured.”
“WHAT?” The siren yelled. She whipped her head to the side, eyes widening as she noticed the empty waters beside her.
“Since the Underworld, I’ve decided: I’m done suffering.” He gestured to his crew behind him, and then added, “We are a different beast now. No more of us will die because of you. We are men made into monsters.” He finished in a low snarl.
Keefe stepped forward and handed Fitz his bow and arrow. When Fitz took it, his fingers brushed his first mate’s hand. Keefe cleared his throat and said, “Captain, what are your orders?”
“Kill them all.”
Screams rose from the waters as his crew murdered the packs of sirens ruthlessly. Fitz helped, aiming his arrows at the siren disguised as his wife. She dodged, hissing and splashing salty water at his eyes.
While she was frantically dodging his arrows, Fitz said, “When we were trying to escape Poseidon, we found a ship with no crew and figured out it must be sirens. We put beeswax in our ears and I played along when you pretended to be my wife. I read your lips and you were very helpful, but now that I know how to get back to Ithica, we don’t need you anymore.” He grinned evilly as the siren gasped. He used her momentary distraction to aim an arrow right between her ribs.
Aim.
Pull back.
Fire.
One of Athena’s many mantras from his years of training rang through his ears as blood spilled from the siren. Her scream was drowned out by all the others.
All I hear are screams.

Chapter 4: ocean
Within the palace a thunderstorm and tsunami meet. “The man who your daughter travels with has hurt my son, brother. I don’t wish to harm her, but more so do I desire to gut her companion. So, if you don’t wish for her blood I suggest you take her away.”
“Funny, since when did you care for your children? I’ve seen you show more concern for those you’ve only spent one night with,” chuckled Zeus. “That isn’t important now brother. Your daughter, what of her,” snarled Poseidon. “If she can’t handle a little rough water and jagged stone then clearly she isn't fit to reside here.” Poseidon shuttered at his brother’s cold words, taken aback by their sharpness. “You are to test her. Now leave. Make the water as high as the clouds, and the stones as sharp as the greatest blade,” the storm bellowed out as it starred through the tsunami.
Athena sat on the floor of the ship she now resides on, now that she’s chosen not to set foot on Odysseus' boat. She began to laugh at herself. ‘Put your emotions aside?” She silently thought to herself, “I’m becoming like my brother, speaking before thinking. My own emotions caused me to spit venom at my friend. Funny, I still try to be a god in a mortal’s body and mind.” She then quietly chuckles to himself. She’s then taken out of her mind by the encroachment of a storm.
(Now listen to Storm and Luck Runs Out)
Athena watches as Odysseus climbs the rope. Hoping that he wouldn’t fall or lose strength. She is still bitter about what has happened but has since soothed her emotions. Odysseus then reaches the top walking through the clouds covering the floating island.
(Now listen to Keep Your Friends Close)
Athena had seen the bag and had wanted to help Odysseus with guarding it, but due to her lack of control, ended up signing their fate.
As the wind from the bag cast them back miles Athena sank believing that this was partly her fault. But then she jumped up having heard the voice of her uncle, the tsunami.
(Now listen to Ruthlessness)
The onslaught left no ship intact, besides Odysseus’ who was able to escape. As Odysseus stood there he suddenly realized that the ship Athena had been on was now destroyed with the rest.
(the next chapter will skip over/ take place during the Circe and Underworld saga, so like they remain unchanged so if you want to listen to those now. The only thing I’ll add to them is that in There Are Other Ways Circe summons Thanatos to guide Odysseus to the underworld under threat of, “ Do or you’re going into the box again.” Thanatos would groan out of annoyance while gesturing to roll what eyes would’ve been in his sockets, then rubbing his face in exhaustion.)

I did some idle mathing, as one does, and here's my death count of the crew in Epic: The Musical. For people from the future, keep in mind that as of now the Circe Saga has not been released yet, so I'm working off of severely incomplete info from the Ocean Saga onwards!
Deaths: Survivors (barring Ody): Explanation:
0 - 600 - Post Troy: Odysseus starts with 600 men in 12 ships, 50 men per ship.
14 - 586 - Cave of the Cyclops: Polites and 13 other men are smashed by Polyphemus' club, with each club sound effect after Polites being one kill. Jay's said that they leave the cave with half the amount they entered, which makes the scouting party's starting size around 30 btw.
543 - 43 - Laestrygonia: "43 left under your command," presumably these men are on Odysseus' own ship, so 543 probs drowned on the other 11 sunken ships from Poseidon and the Laestrygonian giants.
1 - 42 - Aeaea (Circe’s island): 1 man dies, Elpenor, only because he gets drunk and falls off the roof.
0 - 42 - The Underworld: the ghosts say "558 men who died under your command." That means 42 of the crew are left.
? - ? - ?: There are two songs that are unknown so far, right at the start of Act 2. Who knows how many men die, if any do at all.
>6 - <36 - Scylla: Eurylochus says in Mutiny "How much longer can we go about our lives like this, when people die like this?" so an unclear amount of men are probably eaten by Scylla. In The Odyssey it's 6, one for each head, so I'm using that as an approximate, though it'll likely be more, since Polyphemus ate only 6 men in the Odyssey, but there were more deaths in Epic.
1 - <35 - Thrinacia: Eurylochus confronts and mutinies against Odysseus, and Odysseus is forced to kill him.
<35 - 0 - Still Thrinacia: the rest of the men are killed via Zeus' lightning bolt after eating Helios' cattle ("Since hunger was far too great") leaving only Odysseus himself alive.

Note
I get what you mean but I think my personal issue with how Poseidon-Odysseus fight is, it's just that while there are indeed all those heros who get to fight gods and basically win - Odysseus in Epic doesn't really feel like this kind of hero? For me he always seemed like a pinnacle of humanity - like, he is a strong soldier and cunning commander but he does not seem to be at the power level of a literal god? And considering how badly Odysseus got beaten in Ruthlessness and how helpless he was in the face of Zeus, it just seemed like he does NOT stand a chance in a direct fight. This sudden change of this status quo in Six Hundred Strikes feels very abrupt and unreasonable to me - just literally throws me out of any kind of immersion by how much this power spike doesn't make sense to me.
And yeah, we can argue that there is something interesting about the uncertainty of where did Odysseus' strength came from - whatever it truly was just the windbag, some kind of vengeful power of all of the men drowned by Poseidon or maybe even Ares showing in those red eyes - and narratively it is cool that Odysseus got to win and avenge his men and finally finish his becoming monster arc but. But it still feels off and abrupt and it is unexplained.
Mind you, the song still slaps (outside of that "Six Hundred Strikes" which makes me cringe because of this whole essay playing in my head each time) and I will probably get over my unhappiness. Narratively it's great, the morbid coolness of the end of that song is chillingly beautiful... But Odysseus' power seems to come out of nowhere, considering how powerless he used to be towards so many of the gods, and even his most recent helplessness in the face of Calypso, who isn't even like an Olympian. It just feels off and it will probably feel off to me no matter what because Odysseus has simply never been presented as a mortal who CAN fight the god the way Heracles can. It just never before felt like a possibility for Odysseus to. Just do THAT.
And worse of all, while to torture scene slaps, the fact that a mortal can torture the god of the SEA while on the OCEAN, in his dominion, during a STORM - it just feels like something so out of Odysseus' range.
Okay, rant over, just had to pour out my own take on it because it stalks me since I first heard Vengeance Saga
Do you have any examples of mortals or demigods beating any of the Greek gods in a fight or physical contest? I see a lot of complaints about the latest epic saga for the Odysseus and Poseidon song.
Mortals and demigods usually do not physically fight the immortals for various reasons but, I mean, the Iliad? Diomedes goes on a rampage fueled by Athena and wounds Aphrodite (and I think Ares too though I might misremember the details). She's escorted off the battlefield so we don't know if he'd end up beating her ass or not.
Herakles physically wrestles Thanatos for Alcestis' soul. He also physically fought Achelous, a God, and Antaeus — I don't recall what he's supposed to be but he's a son to two immortals, so, I presume, non-human too.
Most "fights" between mortals and immortals are non-physical (contests, competitions, challenges of skills) and the mortals usually are not treated well in rare cases they win as lessons against pride and hubris. So, the competition of some kind between mortals and immortals is not unheard of in myths. It's a bit more rare that it's physical but it happens, sometimes, too.
I personally don't have any issue with the Poseidon vs. Odysseus scene because I read it as a narrative decline of Odysseus into the ruthlessness he denied full responsibility for before. Plus, it's explicitly stated that Poseidon cannot die (I think "killing a God" narratives are boring) so, like, how is this "against" mythology in any way. I think it's just an ultimate visual showcase of Odysseus' cruelty.
Also, it's kind of wild that we accept that a mortal can fuck a God but the moment it's about a physical fight people are insane about it.
P. S. I think people whine too much and want Epic to be a copy of the Odyssey when Jorge explicitly stated he has a video game/anime fight vision for his "final bosses".
