Meet Gleena! The last member to join the band after Floyd and Liv quit. She's a drummer who approached the guys through small auditions they held because they were struggling being down to only three members. She's good at what she does and is very friendly (although shy), and her pop vibes are something the band's music was missing since Floyd left, so she was an easy pick to make.

Angel: Hey, Vagina! (Elbows Vaggie) Ain't that your girl crush from the open band night down at Husk's Casino two months ago?

Angel: (steals the remote from across the bartop and turns up the TV)

Katie Killjoy: Spectators and fans of our usually diabetically sweet princess feel that this sudden shift is caused by her breakup with Seviathan Von Eldritch just last month, ending the royal arranged engagement, after he mentioned how she refused to "put out" before marriage in an interview with Hell's High Class Weekly.

Lucy breaks her wrist less than a week before the opening concert in Madison Square Garden. It’s 8:35pm on a Saturday. They’re supposed to be on stage the coming Friday. Doors open at 6:00pm. Once Buck gets confirmation from Bobby that she’ll be okay, that she needs surgery but will be fine, he proceeds to have what Hen generously refers to as an anxiety attack, and Eddie calls a Chernobyl level meltdown.

“I’m already working on it,” Bobby says calmly, after Buck comes back from hyperventilating in the bathroom for fifteen minutes.

Hen wordlessly holds out a water bottle, and Buck chugs half of it in one go.

“One. Week. Bobby,” Buck says, and he knows he looks manic, “Not even that! Five days!”

“It’s cutting it very close,” Eddie says, “But c’mon Buck. But this is LA. There are a lot of excellent drummers in town.” 

“What are we supposed to even do?” Buck asks, “We can’t have tryouts, it’s way too close.”

“I’ve already got a few people in mind,” Bobby says, looking down at his phone.

“Who could you possibly know that can learn this entire setlist so quickly?” Buck says, fighting and failing not to sound whiny, “And can just drop everything and be on the road for the next six months?”

“What about Tommy?” Chimney asks, apropos of nothing.

Hen makes an interested noise. 

“Tommy would be good, actually,” Bobby says, nodding slowly.

“…Who the hell is Tommy?” Buck demands.

That’s him on the Decca audition tapes and other early recordings. Deep Beatlemaniacs know that, in 1962, Best was replaced by Ringo Starr, which led to the classic line-up of the Fab Four. That episode is shrouded in urban legend, including rumors that Best was sacked because he was a bigger “chick magnet” than Paul McCartney. The true reason was more prosaic—Ringo had more experienced chops. It was an emotionally-wrenching career move for both Best and the other Beatles as they’d grown up together in Liverpool.

Best retired from drumming in the late 60s and became a civil servant. Then the 1995 Beatles ANTHOLOGY restored him to the public eye. At the behest of family, fans, and friends, Best formed a band and hit the road. In 2005 I was playing keyboards for The Davy Jones Band at a music festival in Newport, Rhode Island, and The Pete Best Band opened with a raw, rowdy rave up show, replicating the Beatles Cavern Club rock’n’roll set from the early 60s. It was a blast to watch! I lost my photo of Pete and I at the catering tent, but in this video I’m watching sidestage w/family members. HB Pete and God bless your rock’n’roll heart!
