Episode 3 ~ Brushstrokes

Allie goes off to explore more of the place, drink in hand of course.

That left me some time to sit down and talk with mama. She wanted to ask me about the fizzing business and other lighter subjects but since dad wasn't around one subject hung heavy in my mind.

"You know Marcos stopped by," I throw out there, wondering how she would react.

"Oh?"

Is all she says unfortunately. Marcos is a sore subject to be sure. Mama loves him but she loves my dad as well and she's constantly in the middle of whatever silly macho thing is going on between them. It's not something she likes to talk about. She doesn't want to seem like she's picking sides but I'd argue she already has.

"Yeah, he heard about the party and just wanted to check in on me. See how things are doing."

"That is nice, he's always been very sweet. Heart has always been in the right place," she says, almost talking about him as if he doesn't exist anymore?

"When is the last time you two have-"

"Cat, lets not go there, yes? He's not here for a reason, you know, didn't want to make things awkward," at least she knows him well because that's exactly the reason he's not here. "So, if he's absent let him be absent."

"Yes but-"

"It'll all work out, it always does."

I sure hope so, he's blood, he's family, and he should not be outcast from his family, at least not for such a stupid reason.
