Dionaea muscipula. They are very fascinating plants, having evolved such a unique mechanism to get their nutrients, preying on insects to gain nitrogen from their aminoacids. Thank you, they are going to be very useful. Since a few weeks there is a colony of Drosophila melanogaster in my kitchen, although those flies are very useful for studying genetics, they do tend to be a bit annoying in one's living quarters.

founded in 1683, the botanic garden is one of the oldest botanic gardens in the world and a must see when visiting amsterdam. its diversity is fascinating and at the same time it is an oasis of calm in the bustling city.

the photos are a mix of analogue and digital images taken in the summer of 2024.

der 1683 gegründete botanische garten, gehört mit zu den ältesten botanischen gärten der welt und wenn man amsterdam besucht, sollte man ihn nicht auslassen. seine vielfältigkeit in der bepflanzung ist faszinierend, gleichzeitig ist der garten aber auch eine oase der ruhe in der quirligen großstadt.
