Bechloe Week Day 1: Drunken Dare
Words: 1977
Notes: Bechloe week 2024 let’s go!!!! Who knows how many prompts I’ll be doing this year, but I can promise at least 2 😅
Read on AO3

The house was in complete chaos when Beca returned from her internship that night.
It was packed to bursting with Bellas, Trebles, and any other campus a capella group that had managed to snag an invite.
The music was deafening, but Beca was pleased to hear they were at least playing one of her mixes.
“Beca, you made it!” Stacie called out when she saw her leaning against the front door, surveying the carnage in front of her.
“Made it? Dude, I live here too,” Beca replied.
“I meant, like, made it to the party,” Stacie said, rolling her eyes. “Here.” She pushed a shot into Beca’s hand. “You’ve got some catching up to do.”
“I don’t really feel like it, Stace,” Beca said, trying to give it back to her. “I’m just gonna go hide out in my room, I’ve got a bunch of stuff to do.”
“Boo!” Stacie said, hands in the air as she refused to take the shot glass back. “I know you’re bummed about Jesse-”
“-I’m really not,” Beca interrupted.
“But you can’t just sulk in your room all night,” Stacie carried on as if there’d been no interruption. “Get yourself out there, you’re young, free, and single!”
Beca sighed and downed the shot, her face twisting at the taste. “I’m good,” she said. “Thanks.”
She put the shot glass on the first clear surface she found and climbed the stairs up to her and Amy’s attic bedroom.
She signed again when she saw the Bellas scarf tied to the doorknob.
She didn’t want to stick around long enough to hear what was going on behind that door, so she quickly turned and made her way back down to the second-floor landing.
Chloe’s door was part-way open, and Beca gave a cautious knock before she pushed it open further and went inside, pulling out her phone as she did.
Beca: Amy and Bumper are in my room again so I’m hiding out in yours, hope that’s okay. Let me know if you need it back and I’ll make myself scarce x
Chloe was no stranger to hooking up with people at parties, and Beca didn’t want to cock-block her best friend just because she was trying to avoid socialising.
She sat at Chloe’s desk, took her laptop out of her bag, pulled on her headphones, and started working on their set list for the Worlds.
“There you are!” Chloe said happily, pulling open her bedroom door. “I’ve been looking for you.”
“I sent a text,” Beca said, taking off her headphones and grinning as Chloe pulled out her phone and closed one eye to see it.
“So you did,” she said. “Why are you hiding?”
Beca shrugged. “Too many people,” she said.
“Yeah, it is getting a little out of hand out there,” Chloe said.
“So do you need the room back?” Beca asked. “I can go to the library or-”
“No,” Chloe said. “You’re good.”
Beca nodded. “Don’t let me keep you from all that,” she said, gesturing to the party that continued to rage outside Chloe’s door.
“You aren’t keeping me,” Chloe said. “I came here looking for you.”
“Oh. How come?”
Chloe’s grin widened, and she withdrew the hand that had been held behind her back. In it, she held a bottle of tequila. “I seem to recall the last time you flaked on a party you promised me you’d make it up to me.”
“Seriously?” Beca asked. “You want to cash that in now?”
“Now’s as good a time as any,” Chloe replied. “Come on, you’ve been all mopey since Jesse left-
“-I haven’t been mopey-”
“-and you need to let loose a little and have some fun,” Chloe said. She took a seat cross-legged on the floor and gestured for Beca to join her.
If it had been anyone else asking, Beca would have said no, but she’d never been very good at turning down Chloe, so she saved the mix she was working on and joined Chloe on the floor.
“If I’m hungover tomorrow I’m going to blame you,” Beca said, accepting the bottle from Chloe and taking a drink. She grimaced and handed it back. “You couldn’t have swiped something a little better tasting?”
“You don’t drink it because it tastes good,” Chloe said, taking a drink herself.
Truth be told, Beca did need this. She’d been so stressed out from prepping for the Worlds, working at her internship and, yes, breaking up with Jesse, that she needed a night out of her head. She needed a little fun.
“We should play truth or dare,” Chloe announced. She opened up Spotify on her phone and hit play on one of the many playlists Beca had compiled for her over the years. Music began playing through Chloe’s Bluetooth speaker, and it all but drowned out the party taking place outside the door.
“Truth or dare?” Beca asked. “Is that a good idea? Anytime we play that someone usually ends up in the ER.”
“Lily isn’t playing, I think we should be safe,” Chloe said.
“Lily wasn’t the one who dared Amy to slide down the stairs on the drinks tray,” Beca pointed out.
“No, but Lily was the one who dared Jessica and Ashley to play five-finger fillet,” Chloe said, shuddering at the memory. “And, in my defence, I also slid down the stairs on the tray and I didn’t get hurt. I think her technique was all wrong.”
“Fine,” Beca said, “as long as there are no knife games, no Evel Knievel stunts, and no running through the party naked, we can play truth or dare.”
“Spoil sport,” Chloe said with a pout. “You can go first, truth or dare?”
“Why do I have to go first?”
“Because you’ve got a lot of catching up to do,” Chloe said, gesturing for Beca to take a drink. “Truth or dare?”
“Truth,” Beca said.
“How come you and Jesse broke up?”
“Jesus, we’re jumping right into that one, huh?” Beca asked. Chloe shrugged and waited for a response. Beca took a drink, not because she was backing out of the question, but because she felt like she needed a little more liquid courage. “Long distance never works,” she said, remembering the conversation she and Jesse had had when he told her about the job offer he’d gotten in L.A.
“I don’t think that’s true,” Chloe said.
It was Beca’s turn to shrug, and she tried to hand the bottle back to Chloe.
“That’s all I get?”
“That’s all there is to it,” Beca said. “He moved, I didn’t, so we broke up.”
“You guys didn’t even want to try it out? It’s not like it would have been forever, you’re moving out to L.A. once you graduate, right?”
Chloe still hadn’t taken the bottle back, so Beca took another drink. “I don’t know what I’m doing after I graduate,” she said. “If things go well with the internship then I might stick around in Barden.” She brushed her thumb along the edge of the bottle’s label. The corner was just starting to peel up. “To be honest I was kind of relieved when Jesse told me he was leaving. We got together so young and… I dunno, I kinda knew it wasn’t going to be forever with him, and I think he felt the same. We’d been drifting apart, arguing a bunch, this just felt like a chance for a clean break.”
Chloe nodded and took the bottle back for another drink. “I didn’t know you guys were having problems.”
“It was all just stupid shit,” Beca said. “Like we were just filling time so we didn’t have to talk about the fact that we weren’t right together.” Beca shook her head. “But that doesn’t matter. It’s done, we’re done, and I honestly feel pretty okay about it.”
“Well, good,” Chloe said, brightening up. “I’m glad.”
“Anyway, it’s your turn,” Beca said. “Truth or dare?”
They played until the bottle was almost empty, and they ended up lying and giggling on Chloe’s bedroom floor.
Their heads were close to each other as they stared up at the ceiling. Arms touching, elbows pressing into ribs. If they turned their heads, their noses would have brushed against each other.
“Have I ever told you how adorable it is that you’ve got glow-in-the-dark stars stuck to your ceiling?” Beca asked, squinting up. She was considerably drunker than she had been an hour ago, and the stars above her seemed to be multiplying.
“I don’t think you have,” Chloe replied. “But thank you, they are pretty adorable.”
One song faded into the next as they both continued to stare up at the ceiling.
“Beca?”
“Hmm?”
“Truth or dare?”
Beca laughed. “Dare,” she said.
There was a pause while Chloe thought.
“I dare you to kiss me,” she said. There was a vulnerability in her voice that Beca hadn’t heard before, and it was that, more than the question, that caused Beca to turn her head and look at her.
“What?” Beca asked.
“I dare you to kiss me,” Chloe said again. There was a look in her eyes that Beca couldn’t quite place, but she knew Chloe was serious. She also knew that this wasn’t going to be one of those kisses that drunk girls do with their friends sometimes. She’d seen Chloe play spin the bottle - had seen her kiss almost all of the Bellas - but there was something different in her voice and expression. Something sobering. Something that told Beca that this was a big deal. That her asking was a big deal.
“Are you sure?” Beca asked.
Chloe nodded. “If you want to,” she said. “Do you want to?”
“Yes,” Beca answered, honestly.
“So kiss me.”
Beca did.
It started as a soft press against the lips that quickly deepened and got heated.
They made out on the floor for what felt like hours, long after the playlist had ended and the party had wrapped up.
Every time they broke apart for air one would pull the other back in. Neither wanted to stop.
It was only when the soft light of the morning began creeping in through the gap in Chloe’s blinds that they finally gave in. Lips numb, cheeks and chests flushed, they lay together on Chloe’s bedroom floor.
“I should go,” Beca mumbled, eyes closing at the feeling of Chloe’s hand trailing through her hair.
“You don’t have to,” Chloe replied. “You could stay.”
“Do you want me to?”
“Of course,” Chloe said. “Stay.”
“Can we at least get off the floor?” Beca asked, and she smiled when she felt Chloe’s chest vibrate with her laugh beneath her head.
“Yeah,” Chloe said.
Exhausted and already beginning to feel the effects of their hangovers, they climbed off the floor and into Chloe’s bed.
“What happens now?” Beca asked, finding her eyes drawn to Chloe’s lips again.
“With us?” Chloe asked. Beca nodded.
“I don’t want to lose you,” she said. “I don’t want this to be something we regret in the morning.”
“I won’t regret it,” Chloe said.
“Me neither. But I, um, I can’t do the casual relationship thing,” Beca said. “I can’t do the friends-with-benefits thing. If that’s all this is then we should call it now.”
“That isn’t what I want either,” Chloe said. “Bec I… I like you. I have for a long time. And I know it’s soon - you and Jesse just broke up a few weeks ago - but, well, I guess this is me shooting my shot. I like you. I’d like to take you out on a date and see where this thing goes.”
Beca couldn’t stop the grin that spread across her face. “I’d like that,” she said.
Chloe smiled back and leaned in to kiss her again, all thoughts of going to sleep pushed aside.

☁️ Return Multi Update☁️
Hey friends. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
I won’t fill this with a super long post about every single sordid detail about what has transpired over the past few months. The end of 2024 and start of 2025 has not been kind to our family. It’s been sad, it’s been hard, and it’s been exhausting. Back to back funerals and another round of being incredibly sick is the long and short of it.
Life has begun to settle and though I don’t want to commit to an update schedule right now, I would like to show my gratitude and appreciation for this community. It by no means is expected or required but I appreciate those of you who reached out to check in even if I didn’t get back you right away. Thank you to those who silently sent kind thoughts and wishes out of respect of privacy or space. And for those of you who simply just want updates, I totally get it, and thank you for being patient.
I don’t know how frequently I’ll be getting these chapters out but for now, here’s a multi-fic update to say thank you. I have a few more that I’m working on but they wouldn’t have been completed in time. Hopefully five is enough for the time being.
This isn’t my first hiatus and certainly won’t be my last in afraid but you crazy kids keep sticking around anyway and it means the world. Enjoy.
Your Friend ☁️
(PS - This is kind of serving as my A/N on AO3. I’ll do proper ones for the next updates but right now I’m prioritizing posting these and replying to the plethora of comments in my inbox. 🩵)

Beca Mitchell has never understood the hype around the soulmate finding thing.

Barden University was known for much more than just their top-tier Acapella program — not that Chloe Beale had paid much attention to the rest of the school her freshmen or sophomore years. But now, her junior spring, Chloe found herself in dire need of extra credit, and it just so happened that the molecular biology department was in need of test subjects.
Well, they didn't call them "test subjects" exactly. The program needed volunteers who were up for anything, and if it helped Chloe with her grades, she was game. The last two years, she had poured way too much time into the Barden Bellas — Chloe desperately needed the grades and the cash that came with the science trial gig. Plus, oddly enough, the flier promised that volunteers might experience a boost in their productivity, free time, and bandwidth for extracurriculars.
Chloe didn't ask questions when she signed the consent form. Maybe she should have looked closer at the fine print.
To her surprise, the program she opted into was a trial run of Barden's new quantum cloning initiative. Chloe had unwittingly signed up to get triplicated into three identical Chloe Beales for a full week. Each Chloe had the same memories, personality, everything. All she had to do was check in daily with the science lab and go about her daily life as usual — as much as that was possible, with two identical Chloes by her side.
Her first reaction: fucking rad! This meant that there was finally time to catch up on school work, parties, and Bellas rehearsals. Chloe and her clones were like peas in a pod, splitting duties and kicking ass all the while. The week was turning into a piece of cake.
All it took was one scheduling mishap for this to get... interesting. The Chloes rarely crossed paths, all three of them, until by accident they each wound up in the music department's records room. It was a rare chance for the trio to hang out without prying eyes.
Chloe didn't feel any need to be coy or restrained around "herself," after all. She flirted. She teased. The other Chloes followed suit, and before long, the woman and her clones were acknowledging their shared interest in getting to know each other at a deeper level.
She was always up for some fun, after all.

The Bro Code
PP3 Ending Rewrite, Getting Together, feat. surprise Bechloe shipper Chicago
“Dude!”
Chicago has been around plenty of strong women. His older sister is the reason he enlisted, after all. And Chloe’s bikini is certainly not leaving her toned physique to his imagination.
Still, he would feel like an asshole if he just stands by and watches one of the women he’s meant to be escorting walk across a beach with a giggling adult on her hip and a tote bag slung over her other shoulder.
“Uh, can I…”
“We’re good, thanks!”
Well, he can’t exactly argue with that. Beca is rigid, but clearly more in an attempt to not be a total dead weight than out of discomfort, and gripping Chloe’s shoulder for balance. He’s about to call it and bring up the rear when Beca suddenly glances back his way and taps Chloe’s posterior delt, bringing her friend to an immediate stop.
Chicago waits as Beca leans down toward Chloe’s ear, and the redhead nods before vaguely tilting her head in his direction.
“Could you grab her flip flops actually?!”

Could you do something for “I didn’t mean to hurt you.”? Maybe as a follow-up or prequel or something to the prompt you did for “I’m not going to yell at you”? Thanks in advance! 🩵
First off, I'm so sorry this took so long! Usually when I go this long without posting any new fics it's because I'm working on something but I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've written anything in the last month.
I've had probably the worst writers' block I can ever remember having and I've just not felt any desire to write anything or work on any of my wips.
I don't even know if this is any good, but I'm hoping it'll pull me out of the slump.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
Prompt taken from here
Trigger warning: physical domestic abuse
This is a prequel to this fic
Read on AO3
-
“I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
Chloe didn’t believe him.
She swallowed, the pain radiating from her mouth as she forced a steadying breath through her nose.
She knew her lip was bust. She could taste the blood in her mouth, could feel the sting when she swept her tongue across it.
“Chloe.”
Chicago knelt in front of her. His eyes were full of tears, one of his hands cradling the other as if he’d hurt it when it collided with her face. As if he was the one in pain right now.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean…” he trailed off. “Are you okay?”
Chloe wanted to laugh, but instead tears stung her eyes.
“Please don’t cry,” he said. “Please… Please just say something.”
“Can you get me some ice please?” Chloe asked, no longer recognising the sound of her own voice.
He seemed to deflate with relief, and Chloe felt her hatred for him grow.
“Of course,” he said. “Let me help you up.”
Chloe couldn’t help but flinch away from him as he extended his hand towards her, and she saw the briefest flash of anger cross his eyes.
She took his hand and he helped her up and onto her feet before he disappeared into the kitchen.
Now alone, she gingerly touched the split in her lip and winced. It hurt more than she’d expected it to.
He’d never hit her before, and even though he was full of apologies and remorse now, Chloe already knew he would do it again.
He came back with a bag of frozen peas. “We’re out of ice,” he said.
Chloe nodded and took it from him, holding it against her rapidly swelling lip.
“I’m-”
“I know,” Chloe said, cutting him off. “I know you are.” She couldn’t bear to hear him say it again. “Let’s just… Let’s forget it.”
“Sure,” he said. “If that’s what you want.”
The rest of the evening passed in a tense silence until Chloe finally crawled into bed.
She feigned sleep long enough to hear the sound of Chicago’s snores fill the room, and then she eased herself out of bed.
Shoved in the back of her closet was a bag she’d begun prepping months ago. When the rose-tinted glasses had come off, she started to really see those red flags that she’d so often dismissed.
The bag contained some clothes, toiletries, a small amount of cash, and her important documents.
She grabbed it out of the closet and, still in her pyjamas, climbed into her car and drove.
-
Beca had been fast asleep when the sound of her apartment buzzer cut through her dreams.
She groaned and fumbled for her phone, one eye closed as the bright screen lit up the room.
It was close to 2 am, and her stomach lurched as the noise continued.
She stumbled out of bed and hurried to the front door, her heart beating uncomfortably in her chest as she did so.
No one ever knocks at your door at 2 am with good news…
“Hello?” Beca asked into the intercom.
“Beca?”
If Beca’s heart had been beating hard before, it was doing something else entirely now.
“Chloe?”
“Please can I come up?”
Beca hit the button to unlock the door without a second of hesitation, and she waited anxiously for Chloe to reach her apartment.
Even though she’d been expecting it, Beca still jumped at the sound of the tentative knock at the door and she hurried to open it.
“I’m sorry,” Chloe said. “I’m so sorry for just turning up like this.” Chloe’s hands were shaking as she adjusted the weight of the bag on her shoulder, and her eyes shining with tears. “Please can I stay? Chicago, he’s…”
Chloe trailed off, but she didn’t need to tell Beca what Chicago had done, because Beca could see it for herself.
Beca felt like she couldn’t speak, so she just stepped aside so Chloe could enter her apartment. She shut the door behind them and slid the chain lock across for good measure.
“I didn’t know where else to go,” Chloe said. “I’m sorry.”
Beca shook her head and forced herself to find her voice. “Don’t be sorry,” she said. “Of course you can stay here.”
Chloe seemed to deflate with relief in front of her, and Beca hated that in Chloe’s mind, there might have been a chance she’d have turned her away.
“Stupid question, but are you okay?” Beca asked.
Chloe shrugged. “I don’t think so,” she said, tears filling her eyes faster than she could wipe them away.
Beca wasted no time in closing the gap between them and wrapping Chloe up in a hug. “I’m so sorry this happened to you,” she said. “How can I help? What can I do?”
“Can I go lay down?” Chloe asked, the adrenaline that had been keeping her going was now quickly fading away. “I’m really tired.”
“Of course,” Beca said, reluctantly ending their hug. “Take my bed until I can get the spare room set up. I can sleep on the couch.”
Chloe took hold of her hand. “Please come with me,” she said. “I don’t want to be by myself.”
Beca nodded and squeezed Chloe’s hand. Her throat felt tight. “Go ahead,” she said, the strain evident in her voice. “I’ll be right in.”
With Chloe out of the room, Beca’s hands closed into fists, and she clenched her jaw shut in order to hold back the scream that threatened to erupt.
She’d never felt an anger quite like this before, and she needed it to go before she joined Chloe in the bedroom.
She closed her eyes and imagined herself pummeling every square inch of Chicago. Her jaw was clenched so tight she was amazed her teeth hadn’t shattered.
She counted to ten in her head, and then forced a slow breath out through her mouth.
Her anger was no good to Chloe right now. Chloe needed her to be strong and stable, but not angry.
She could be angry later, but not now. Not tonight.
She filled a glass with water and returned to the bedroom. Chloe was curled up on her side, her face lit up by her phone screen.
“Here,” Beca said, placing the water on the nightstand.
“Thanks,” Chloe said, locking her phone and placing it on her nightstand.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Beca asked, climbing into the bed beside her.
“Not really,” Chloe said. “Not yet.”
“Okay,” Beca said. “That’s okay, you don’t have to.”
“I, um, I don’t really know what to do Bec,” Chloe said, her voice beginning to waver again. She let out a small sob, that was quickly followed by another. “I’m sorry,” she said, quickly wiping her eyes.
“Don’t,” Beca said. “Don’t be sorry, you’ve got nothing to be sorry for.” She lifted her arm so Chloe could cuddle into her side, which she eagerly did.
“What’s going to happen when he figures out where I am?”
Beca felt that anger pulse in her again, but she pushed it away. “I don’t know,” Beca answered honestly. “But we’ll figure it out. I do know one thing though, and that’s that he won’t put his hands on you again.”
Chloe knew it wasn’t as simple as that but she allowed herself, for that moment, to feel safe. To feel protected. She decided to believe her.
“All you need to worry about now is getting some rest,” Beca said. “We can deal with everything else tomorrow.”
