I seemed to have missed scanning two pages of this comic.
“Arc Weldy Feels The Love” was the one sidestory I wanted to draw the most. It was also the least connected to the main story, not that funny and also the longest to boot. It didn’t really make any sense to bring it to existence--since, uh, I was making the sidestories coz I felt the main story was devoid of the hahas.
For a simple story, it was difficult for me to draw. Probably because I kept going “what the fuck, it should not this difficult to draw”. I never felt good enough to draw what’s in my head, and I still don’t--but at least it exists now.
While drawing the main “Arc Weldy” story, I actually debated of including another transformed Arc Weldy because I thought it would distract from the main protag of the story. On the flipside, it really appealed to me to show how different the protag Arc Weldy would be from yet another Arc Weldy.
While I was drawing this other Arc Weldy, another idea was to showcase a different sort of love between two robots, not the romantic one between an small robot and a boss one (basically mob enemy and your Robot Master Tundra) but a softer, mutual affection and devotion. More teacher-student or parent-child. Most of the transformations were random but I chose theirs as a reflection of this.
Not much for laughs in this idea but there is one comic about the one Arc Weldy who doesn’t fall in love and just “wtf is all this” so there’s the regular reaction, lol. That’s the particularly angry one, actually.
On that note, Arc Weldys and Pickmen and pretty much all the robots I draw are probably bigger than I depict them. Arc Weldys should probably the size of actual welding machines and not vacuum cleaners, probably.
Oh, this is nice. A possible scene where the winter before the event happens, and the Pickman protag meets Tundra, who’s generally hanging around Nakaume work site while waiting for Block and Impact to go out with him. Pickman muses how nice it is for even even the usually strict Chief(s) to have friends.
The unnamed female maintenance worker. She’s a human engineer for Nakaume Heavy Machinery assigned to particular group. Her name’s Brenda Nguyen.
At one point, she was supposed to be Scrap Woman’s partner (the robot with sharp features on the left side) and they share bantz--but Scrap’s backstory has changed a bit so I don’t think that’s true anymore.
She got her legs broken because...I thought that showing anything more fatal wouldn’t jibe with the tone of the story (and actual canon world). For a dark moment it did cross my mind “what if Impact’s robots attacks her and she dies” and the a split second there’s “wtf no”. With the amount of damage and robotic rebellions or whatever, there’s bound to be human injuries and death, but that’s probably not gonna addressed...in this story at least. Another idea was Pickman just kinda just locks into her a room but I went with broken legs for srs bsns--to show Arc Weldy’s just all “:D!” at whatever Pickman would do.
Pick Protag and Impact eventually visited and apologized to her in the hospital. She doesn’t really hold it against them buuuuuuut did ask to be reassigned somewhere else because PTSD. That’s not really important to either this story or even this one but I did think about it. Oh hey, she could still be Scrap’s partner, then.
This Arc Weldy and the Pickman would’ve been major roles in the White Day sequel but that story just seriously bums me out, emotionally so I’ll just leave them all in this happier state.

VIII. Background. In 1985, OSHA implemented CPL 02-00-069 - Special Emphasis: Trenching and Excavation, in response to the continuing incidence of trench/excavation collapses and accompanying loss of life. According to the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) data, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there were 130 fatalities recorded in trenching and excavation operations between 2011 and 2016. The private construction industry accounted for 80%, or 104, of those fatalities. An alarming 49% of those construction fatalities occurred between 2015 and 2016. In light of the recent resurgent number of trenching/excavation fatalities and serious injuries, OSHA determined that these worksites continue to warrant an increased enforcement presence. Occupational Safety and Health Administration Instruction CPL-02-00- 161, October 1, 2018, National Emphasis Program on Trenching and Excavation, describes a federal program change which replaces CPL 02-00-069. With this instruction and the Agency Instruction MIOSHA-COM-19-1, Trenching and Excavation – National Emphasis Program (NEP), as amended, MIOSHA establishes enforcement procedures for their trenching and excavation inspections which are at least as effective as the associated federal OSHA compliance directive for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Instruction, CPL 02-00-165, July 1, 2021, Compliance Directive for the Excavation Standard, 29 CFR Subpart P, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Instruction CPL-02-00-161, October 1, 2018, National Emphasis Program on Trenching and Excavation, respectively.
Federal OSHA issued an updated instruction, CPL 02-00-165, July 1, 2021, Compliance Directive for the Excavation Standard, 29 CFR Subpart P, which provides guidelines for enforcing this standard. The OSHA instruction includes policies and procedures that address inspections of workplaces where excavations are present.
IX. Action. MIOSHA is adopting the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Instruction, CPL 02-00-165, July 1, 2021, Compliance Directive for the Excavation Standard, 29 CFR Subpart P, except for the modifications listed below:
A. General Exceptions.
1. Whenever the OSHA instruction references an OSHA occupational safety or health standard, the equivalent MIOSHA standard must be consulted instead. For example, the angle of repose listed in Construction Safety Standards Part 9, Excavation, Trenching, and Shoring, Table 1 as listed in Rule 408.40941(1), must be utilized in
2

lieu of the angle of repose requirements listed in the equivalent OSHA standard, 29 CFR 1926.652(a).
2. Whenever another OSHA instruction is referenced, the equivalent MIOSHA instruction must be consulted. Below are the MIOSHA specific references that are to be used instead of the OSHA referenced instructions:
a) Agency Instruction MIOSHA-COM-04-1, Multi-Employer Work Sites, as amended.
b) Agency Instruction MIOSHA-COM-13-2, Roadway Work Zones- Inspection and Citation Guidance for Construction and Maintenance, as amended.
c) Agency Instruction MIOSHA-COM-19-1, Trenching and Excavation – National Emphasis Program (NEP), as amended.
3. Whenever procedures/policies in the federal instruction reference the OSHA Field Operations Manual (CPL 02-00-164), equivalent policies and procedures from the MIOSHA FOM must be followed.
4. Whenever the OSHA instruction indicates a provision for the safety of the safety officer (SO) at excavation sites, including personal protective equipment provided, the SO is to use the equivalent in the MIOSHA Safety and Health Management System (SHMS).
5. Whenever the OSHA Technical Manual (OTM) TED 01-00-015, Section V, Chapter 2 - Excavations: Hazard Recognition in Trenching and Shoring, is referenced, Section IX. A and Section IX. B of this instruction will be followed.
B. Specific Exceptions.
1. MIOSHA will continue to require qualified persons, where OSHA requires competent persons.
a) 408.40932. Excavation; consideration of soil types; water; slide hazards.
b) 408.40942. Supporting systems; angle of repose; tie backs; tight sheeting; additional bracing.

Grandview man charged with making 2017 swatting call in Overland Park
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Nearly a year later, police have arrested a man they say falsely reported an active shooter in Overland Park.
It happened in November 2017 at the One Stop Decorating Center near 135th Street and Metcalf. The false report and resulting panic sent schools and businesses nearby into lockdown.
On Tuesday, Morayonla Sholaja, of Grandview, was booked into the Johnson County Jail with a $50,000 bond and charged with making a false report.
Morayonla Sholaja
The fake report last year was a scary moment for employees who said they’re relieved by the arrest and charges.
Pickelman’s manager Brittany Jackson has vivid memories of her work day on Nov. 7, 2017, the day Sholaja allegedly made the 911 call about an active shooter.
“I just remember seeing a lot of cops that pulled into our parking lot,” Jackson said. “They all kind of hopped out with tons of rifles already drawn, just kind of running around the parking lot looking for something. At that time we don`t know what. They came into our facility at Pickelman’s and just kind of searched around and left.”
They didn’t find anything because there was never an active shooter to begin with.
“I`m happy that they did catch him. I`m happy that he`s finally been caught,” Jackson said of the charges against Sholaja.
Overland Park Police can’t talk about the details of the case, but they knew something was up when everything happened a year ago.
“We only received one phone call,” Overland Park Police spokesman John Lacy said.
Had it been a real active shooter, Lacy said they would have received a lot more than one call. But they had to do their due diligence and protect the public.
“It is a waste of resources,” Lacy said. “On that day, we had a total of over four agencies, and at the same time more than 13 officers from Overland Park were out on the scene.”
Lacy said this year, Overland Park Police received about four swatting calls, fitting in with recent patterns.
“We`ve started seeing an increase in swatting calls in the last 5-8 years,” he said.
Police and civilians want that number to go down so they feel more at ease.
“(It’s) scary because you never know when it`s real and when it`s not,” Jackson said.
Sholaja will have his first court appearance Oct. 18.

"[D] Machine Learning CS229 - Preparation, Questions for Past and Future Students, Study Groups, SCPD"- Detail: (Cross-posted from the more specific /r/stanford to reach a broader audience. If this isn't a reasonable post for this subreddit, I apologize!)This coming quarter I'll be taking CS229 (as an SCPD student)! As a brief introduction, I was a Cal EECS+Math undergrad, and I've been in industry as a software engineer for almost 10 years. I'm looking to take this course to get a rigorous theoretical approach to ML, with the intention of applying it to industry and to build on it by taking more related CS courses going forward.I had a few questions for people who have taken the course before, as well as a few for those who are also taking the course. I looked over the course reviews from the last few offerings on, and the overwhelming feedback can be summed up as: 1) tons of time will be required, 2) the "know a bit of linear algebra and probability" prerequisite is a woeful understatement, and 3) start on the problem sets and project as early as possible. If you've taken CS229 before:Are the lecture notes on the Stanford Engineering Everywhere properly up to date? From briefly reviewing the first few, I've noticed some errors and wasn't sure if I should make note of them to let the instructor(s) know.If you had watched some of the lectures on the SEE website, how closely were the actual lectures to these? What other resources (videos, other courses, textbooks, etc.) did you find helpful for the class? (Either as preparation before it began, or referenced during class)There was mention of many "mathematical tricks" needed for the homework. Can you give an example, to show what lines of thinking will be required? For those taking the course:What (if any) preparation have you done?Clearly the SEE website is an incredible resource, and I've watched the first few lectures, as well as read through the corresponding course notes.I've also briefly gone through the Linear Algebra and Probability review PDFs, and intend to go over them again in more detail.I Also took the much vaunted Coursera ML course this summer to get an overview of related topics. Are there any on-campus groups/honor societies which organize any kind of study groups? One of the course reviews for a previous quarter states: "Get in a PSet group. You all help each other learn." With this in mind, are there any like-minded students in the Bay Area interested in forging our own study sessions (if it would be beneficial) and/or working on problem sets? For SCPD students: is there any kind of group/forum/etc. to talk about these kinds of things? Would such a place even be useful, given there aren't (too) many of us?Any details about the above (or other things you think I should know) would be helpful! If anyone knows of a better place to find answers to these questions, let me know as well.. Caption by pickelman. Posted By: www.eurekaking.com
