Scientists use attosecond X-ray pulses to shed new light on the photoelectric effect
A team of scientists from the Department of Energy's SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory has uncovered new information about the photoelectric effect, a phenomenon first described by Einstein over a century ago. Their method provides a new tool to study electron-electron interactions, which are fundamental to many technologies, including semiconductors and solar cells. The results were published August 21 in Nature. When an atom or molecule absorbs a photon of light, it can emit an electron in a process known as the photoelectric effect. Einstein's description of the photoelectric effect, also known as photoionization, laid the theoretical foundation for quantum mechanics. However, the instantaneous nature of this effect has been a topic of intense study and debate.

The source of all the energy is the sun. The big challenge is, how do you use all of that energy?
Photoelectric provides an APP to find the nearest EV Charging station for the convenience of the EV owner. This APP helps you to locate EV charging stations on an aerial map, get updates on charging stations near your location, and a trip Planner for EVs. It is located in the Mumbai Malad area, one of the top companies has launched.

I just started the quantum physics unit for physics, 10/10 W course.
Something interesting I've learned is that the photoelectric effect (when light of a certain wavelength hits an electron of an atom, and causes it to be released) is the reason why cancer happens. The sun releases a lot of EMR, including UV, these high energy waves, when coming into contact with metals can release an electron as aforementioned, this can also happen with non metals, like in DNA. A stray wave hitting your DNA such that it breaks some of the hydrogen bonds and other bonds between nucleotides may cause a cell to misread genetic instructions and cause it to replicate uncontrollably. A la cancer.
It's weird to me how random chance can lead to this happening, turning a cell which is in interphase nearly like 80% of the time, doing its job, then a random mutation occurs making it cancerous and using the body to nurture itself. Gross, but kinda fascinating

Breakthrough discovery in materials science challenges current understanding of photoemission
What exactly is light—and what is it made of? It's an age-old question that dates back to antiquity, and one of the most important investigations undertaken by scientists looking to understand the nature of reality.
The question of what comprises light—a form of energy that, as it bounces off of objects, allows us to see the world—has led to such spirited debate and discussion in the scientific community that it gave birth to a whole new field: quantum mechanics.
Underlying the debate about the nature of light is yet another mystery. That is, does light behave like a wave, or a particle? When Albert Einstein in the early 20th century proposed that light is both particulate in nature (containing small particles called photons) and wave-like, many were satisfied, if slightly uneasy, about his findings.
Einstein supported his new theory through his work on the so-called photoelectric effect, which earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. First discovered by Heinrich Rudolf Hertz in 1887, the photoelectric effect describes the process by which light causes electrons to be ejected from a material when shone on it.
