Low energy Devotional Acts for when you don’t have a lot of energy (or time, or money, etc.)
⚔️Phobos and Deimos⚔️
- learn about their sacred animals: bulls, horses, lions, dogs, and carnivorous birds
- listen to or make a devotional playlist for Them (you can make one for both of Them individually or make one for both of Them together!)
- learn about the fight, flight, freeze response
- play a game (board game or video game) that uses strategy (can be a card game, chess, battleship, things like that!)
- learn about panic attacks and anxiety attacks, the difference between them, and either how to cope with them or help someone through them
- watch a horror movie
- read a horror book
- if horror movies aren’t your thing watch a Halloween special from your favorite tv show as it still has those elements of fear and dread sometimes!
- learn about Mars’ moons!
- learn about the differences between fear, terror, and dread
- watch combat sports (wrestling, boxing, etc. I’d say things like fencing, archery, and shooting are good options too)
- learn about weaponry (modern & ancient) and combat styles and strategies throughout the ages
- learn about various wars, riots, battles, protests, etc.
- watch war movies or war centered tv shows
- reflect on and address your own fears and ways you can potentially overcome them

Learn about self-defense; carry a self-defense weapon (pepper spray, pocket knife, etc.)
Attend a protest (please be aware of your own safety in doing so)
Have a stuffed animal bull, horse, lion, dog, vulture, or other carnivorous bird
Have imagery of weapons, shields, armor, battles, warriors/fighters, chariots, or causes you deeply support around
Face your fears; challenge yourself by exposing yourself to things you're afraid of
Watch an action movie, anime, show, etc. that you enjoy
Engage with the horror genre; watch a horror movie, play a scary video game, read a horror based novel, etc.
Gather with friends around a fire at night and tell scary stories
Try something you've been putting off; take a risk; if you're scared, do it scared

Learn how to properly use a weapon, especially a spear or sword
Carry a charm that instills courage in or protects you

Prioritize your own well-being; taking care of others is good, but make sure you're meeting your own needs first
Collect animal bones (please thank the animal's spirit beforehand); engage in vulture culture
Be spontaneous; do something fun and adrenaline-pumping
Find ways to express yourself, even if it's small (bracelet that represents your gender, wear clothes that make you feel comfortable, wear your hair how you want to, etc.)
Wear a scary costume; make your own scary mask (I'd wear it on Halloween or for an event, but you can wear out in public if you want! Always ask permission from stores before wearing a masked costume first)
Encourage others to be themselves; encourage yourself to do so
Eat something spicy; eat something meaty
Drink something with cinnamon in it, such as tea or cinnamon latte; drink whiskey or fireball (if able obviously)
Draw something scary or ominous; draw to express your anger or fear
Draw, decorate, make, etc. a shield with a scary face or monster on it; this makes for good protection and was a common practice; using something scarier to scare off the scary things
Practice embracing the chaos of life; life is what happens when we're making other plans
-
This is my list of subtle ways to worship Phobos and Deimos for now! I may add more to it later. I hope someone finds this helpful and that y'all enjoy this. ❤️

New alter set up.
Plushies for the gods
My own dead people
Something that gives me no end of comfort is I can be talking about the gods:
Hypnos and Thanatos for example - I refer to them as *the sleepy boys*.
Loki, Dionysus, Pan and say - *the theys*.
Demeter, Hera, Leto, Frigg, Sygin - and say *mothers*.
Zeus, Ares, Hades, Odin - *big daddy*.
Persephone, Aphrodite, Hestia, Artemis, Athena, Hel, Freyja, Idun and say *the ladies*.
Hephaestus, Hermes, Posideon, Thor, Tyr, Baldor, Hemidall and say the *boys * or *uncles*.
Deimos and Phobos I call *the twins*.
I like that there is an endless number of them. From all different pantheons.
I can comb through until I find the ones that stick.
I don't have to pick one and be done.
I don't even have to like them or their myths to give them appreciation. I can just be like, hey, there you are. Give a nod.
I'm allowed to be like, wow, that's uncool, we don't do that anymore, jot that down.
I know many perscribe to some form of religious aspects. Where as, I, like my man Hermes, am liminial. I move around and between. Find the cracks and poke around.
I love that that is okay.
I can just do whatever floats me for the day. Call to whomever I feel pulled to.
Freedom.

A Guide to Aphrodite’s Epithets
Aphrodite is a goddess of many forms. She is one of the older goddesses, born from Ouranos. She is the sister to the Titans, the Furies, the Meliae, and the Giants.
She is the mother of Harmonia and Eros, the Graces and Peitho, but also of Anteros, of Phobos and Deimos and Adestria. She is vengeful and chaotic, existing in the passion that drives wars and artists, in the lust that fuels affairs and assaults, in the love that fuels suicides and marriage.
In my experience, the epithet you worship is insanely important. Aphrodite Ourania is much more lighthearted than Aphrodite Skotia, or Aphrodite Tymborychos.
Aphrodite Ourania is a Lady of the Heavens. She is lipstick marks on softly written poetry, she is pink roses in a pearl encrusted vase.
Aphrodite Ambologera is children braiding each others hair at kindergarten, teenagers whispering about boys and girls, twenty one year olds partying hard and living life.
Aphrodite Anadyomene is the feeling of ocean water over your feet. She is collecting seashells on the shore, collecting sand and water for spells and rituals.
Aphrodite Apaturia is teenage drama, that seems life ending at first but silly as you grow older. She is the gossip and drama that weaves its way into youth, and she smiles as you live your own movie.
Aphrodite Apotrophia is the mother standing over her child, watchful for creeps. She is the older sister clinging to the younger, she is the one you pray to after being assaulted, the one that will hold you close and take revenge for you.
Aphrodite Areia stands beside her lover in battle. She sees the passion that drove these young men to war, sees the fight in their eyes. She fights alongside them, whispering reminders in their ears about who they are fighting for, for their wives and daughters at home.
Aphrodite Despoina is seen in femme fatales, the click of black stilettos and women that know their worth. She stands beside women with fire in their eyes, by hardworking women that know they are meant for more, by CEOS that know their place, and that their place is at the top.
Aphrodite Gameloi walks you down the aisle alongside your father, watches as you say your vows. She stands beside Hera and blesses your marriage, crying and wishing you the best as your own mother would.
Aphrodite Gentyllis sits with you as you birth your first child, and every child after that. She holds your hand and kisses you on the forehead, wishing you the best as she leaves for the next.
Aphrodite Melainis looks in shadows at night, watching you as you walk home. She will take revenge for you if you need, and it will be delivered brutally.
Aphrodite Nikephoros stands beside olympians and generals alike, celebrating in their victory. She stands beside soldiers as they rejoice, by athletes as they cry, and by children as they win their first tournament. She is there for the small and the big victories, from making your first successful dinner to winning a war.
Aphrodite Pandemos sees no difference between a while child or a black child. You are all her children, and she will kiss you on the forehead and tell you she is proud. She stands with you, whether you can afford fancy offerings or altars, she is of the people, for the people.
Aphrodite Peitho stands beside you as you seduce your first lover. She is there as you beg your parents for a dog, as you persuade your mother to let you sleepover at your friends house for the first time.
Aphrodite Skotia stands beside you as you insult. She stands with you as you cover yourself in the ruins of your purity, and she cradles you when you weep for your innocence. When you cry over your sins, she is there, reminding you that she too, is Unholy, and it is okay.
Aphrodite Tymborychos stands with the survivors community, with rape victims and domestic abuse survivors. She stands with women that have slaughtered their abusers, with daughters and sons that have stood up to abusive parents. She stands in the middle of riots for freedom, because if her children cannot stand free then their oppressors should not stand at all.
She is all of these at once, and she is there. You can find her wherever you look, in poetry books or romance novels. You can find her in the laughter of young girls and the tears of victims. You can find her in graveyards, whispering her revenge to abusers and murderers, reminding them that she is a gravedigger and a mother, and harm that befalls her children is a slight to her.
DISCLAIMER: You do not have to choose an epithet. This is here to remind you that Aphrodite comes in many forms, and the Aphrodite you worship sometimes won’t line up with someone else’s. <3

Tumblr media
Hi! I’m Raven (or Ray), and I’ve been an Ares devotee for almost five years now. You want to start worshiping him? Great! Despite what today’s media makes of him - which I will talk about a lot in this post - , he’s actually a very caring, gentle and (dare I say) beginner-friendly deity! In general, a great choice! (Also, this is inspired by another post I saw but forgot to save - so, credits for the idea goes to that person) So, let's get started.
WHO IS ARES? - MODERN MISCONCEPTIONS
Tumblr media
Since I’m assuming you already know the broad strokes of who he is (Greek god of war, bloodshed, violent and so forth), this section will be about some of the misconceptions most people have of Him. If you’ve ever consumed any Greek mythology-related media, I’m sure you’ve seen the following caricature: beefy, misogynistic, violent, stupid jerk, rude and always looking for a fight. While, yes, He IS violent (He's the god of war, afterall), that's far from all He has to offer.
Did you know Ares is actually historically a major feminist? That’s probably the first thing to get demystified about Him when you talk to an Ares devotee or worshiper, so I’m not really saying ground-breaking news here, but since a fair amount of people don’t know about it, I thought it was a fair mention. So, let’s get into the actual myths and proofs for this claim:
Ares was the father of and supported the Amazons in battle, a group of female-only warriors and hunters.
He’s one of the only male deities in Greek mythology to not have sexually harassed or raped someone. Yes, even other deities viewed as “nice” such as Apollo and Hermes have done so (I don’t mean any disrespect for those deities here - I’m also an Apollo devotee).
Ares was held in trial for the murder of Halirrhotius, a son of Poseidon, after he raped one of Ares’ daughters, Alkippe. He was acquited of murder by the gods. Remember, back in ancient Greece, women didn’t have ANY rights - raping one was not considered a crime or even frowned upon as far as I'm aware.
One of His epithets is “Ares Gynaikothoina", which means "feasted by women". During a war between the Tegeans and the Spartans, the women of Tegea defended the city from a invasion led by the Spartan king Charilaus. After arming themselves, they defeated the Spartans following an ambush. Among the prisoners was the Spartan king himself. In commemoration, they would hold a feast in honor of Ares, to which only women were invited.
All in all, Ares is protective, just, and encouraging of His children as well as worshipers and devotees. He’s not the piece of shit jock most people think of when you mention His name. Please stop doing my man this dishonor, He deserves so much better.
BASIC INFO
Tumblr media
His Roman counterpart is Mars. He’s the son of Zeus and Hera, and his consourt is Aphrodite (even though they’re not officially married). His divine children are Phobos and Deimos (twin daimones/personified spirits of panic and terror, respectively), Harmonia (goddess of harmony and concord), Antero (erote/god of requited love) and Eros (erote/god of carnal love), all which he had with Aphrodite, as well as Drakon of Thebes (a giant serpent), which he apparently had by himself.
As for hero children; Cycnus (a bloody-thirsty men who was murdered by Herakles), Diomedes of Thrace (who had man-eating horses for some reason), Thrax (who founded Thrace), Oenomaus (Greek king of Pisa), and the Amazons (female warriors and hunters as mentioned above).
His symbols and associations are: spears, swords, helmets, armour, dogs, chariots, shields, The Chariot & The Emperor tarot cards, etc.
FESTIVALS AND DAYS
Tumblr media
Tuesdays are holy to Ares and are ruled by the planet Mars (again, his Roman counterpart), which means they’re associated with action, energy, strength, and courage, as well as the color red.
As for festivals, He was typically honored with special rites in times of war or just before battles. There were also two annual festivals: one in the town of Geronthrae in ancient Laconia, celebrated only by men, and one in Tagea in Arcadia, celebrated only by women, where His "feasted by women" epithet came from. There's hardly any info on exact dates (from the Attic calendar or not) or info about any other festivals.
SACRED ANIMALS
Tumblr media
Serpents
Dogs
Vultures
Woodpecker
Barn owls
Eagle owls
SACRED PLANTS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s no plant, flower or tree traditionally associated with Ares, unfortunately, so I’m gonna give a list of my UPG’s. Now, I’m not a witch, so I don’t know about the magical properties of the plants I’m about to list (if you’re a witch and were looking for something like that, my bad). However, I am a florist and have a special interest in floriography, so I assign them to Him based on vibe, meaning, etc.
Amaryllis (Means “Pride”)
Basil (Means “Hate”)
Water hemlock (Means “Death”)
Snapdragon (Means “Presumption”, but I think he just likes the way it looks)
Poppy (Means “Eternal sleep”, but has a long history with wars, being the first kind of flora to start growing in abandoned battlefields that were previously considered infertile)
Nettle (Means “Cruelty”)
Magnolia (Means “Dignity”)
Yarrow (Means “Cure for a broken heart”, and is said to have been used by Achilles to heal his men on the battlefield, which is why the scientific name is “Achillea”)
Ginger (Associated with “Heat”)
Pepper, spices, etc (idk he just gives the vibes)
OFFERINGS & DEVOTIONAL ACTS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, the only slander Ares should be getting is that He likes edgy teenage boy things. That being said, here's some ideas/suggestions, first for devotional acts and then offerings:
Workout or do any kind of physical activity
Take care of your mental and physical health
Stand up for yourseld and what you believe in
Learn about past wars, battles, and riots
Do things that make you feel badass/brave/empowered
Go to a protest
Work on managing your anger (especially for my fellow BPD havers)
Pet a dog
Honor His children and Aphrodite
For offerings; any kind of meat, especially red
Anything sharp (cool knives or daggers, broken glass, etc)
Bones!!
Halloween decor (I personally have those fake plastic snakes, spiders, and a skull on His altar)
Black coffee, the stronger the better
Any alcohol, but especially whiskey
Anything spicy
WHY WORSHIP ARES? - A PERSONAL RANT
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Living in an extremely physically abusive household, I had to know and be acostumed to violence from a very young age. That violence left with many things - BPD and C-PTSD, to name a few - but mostly importantly, it left me only being able to feel one thing: anger.
I was angry at everything. Angry at the world for allowing me to have to live through such a horrible situation, angry at my mom for not standing up for me, angry at my abuser, even angry at myself for not ever trying to fight back or protect myself (though now I realize that was completely out of the question. I was only 8, what could I have done against a man in his 30's that was three times my size?).
That anger didn't go away after I got away from my abuser. If anything, it grew worse. I'd yell, break everything around me, say horrible things to the people I loved - I was a totally different person. I could barely recognize myself. I was an empty shell, filled with absolutely nothing else than the purest form of resentment and wrath, things that had been brewing inside of me since I was a child. I never had the choice to become anything else.
Ares understands violence. He's the god of it. He knows when it's justifiable and when it's not, when it serves a purpose and when it's out of pure malice. He helped me realize that instead of trying to fight against my anger out of the shame it made me feel, I had to embrace it - become one with it. It's a part of me, at the end of the day. I just had to figure out how to control it instead of letting it control me.
He embraced me when I was too disgusted with this ugly side of me to even look in a mirror. I was scared of myself - he wasn't. He's seen worse. I never had someone accept me and all my flaws before, god or otherwise.
That's why it's so upsetting to see the modern depictions so many people have of him. Someone so understanding and loving being defined by the worst parts of Himself, just like I used to do with myself in the past.
Ares is the god of war, war is not the god of Ares.

Hey Aster! Could we get a guide on Ares please?
Ares, Greek God of Everything Kind and Sweet: A Guide
Just kidding, of course.
Hi! I'm Astin/Aster and this is my guide to Ares. A disclaimer before we begin, this is going to be bare-bones basic. I will not be going over any specific myths in the post. Hope this is helpful!
Tumblr media
Ares is the god of war and thus peace, as appeasing him would thus prevent war, bloodshed and bloodlust, violence, anger/rage, manliness, rebellion. Something to note is that Ares is less of the strategy involved in war, and more of the actuality of it. He is not only a god of war but the personification of it.
His parents are Zeus and Hera, and his lover was Aphrodite. With Aphrodite, according to Hesiod's theogony, he has three children, Phobos (Terror), Deimos (Fear), and Harmonia (Harmony).
Sacred Symbols, Animals, and Epithets
His symbols are the spear, as well as armor, particularly the helm and shield.
His sacred animals were:
Serpents- he is frequently depicted with one and has myths regarding serpents.
Barn owl, eagle owl, and woodpecker, as shown:
Antoninus Liberalis, Metamorphoses 21 (trans. Celoria) (Greek mythographer C2nd A.D.) :
"Zeus loathed them [the giants Agrios and Oreios] and sent Hermes to punish them . . . But Ares, since the family of Polyphonte [mother of the giants] descended from him, snatched her sons from this fate. With the help of Hermes he changed them into birds. Polyphonte became a small owl whose voice is heard at night. She does not eat or drink and keeps her head turned down and the tips of her feet turned up. She is a portent of war and sedition for mankind. Oreios became an eagle owl, a bird that presages little good to anyone when it appears. Argios was changed into a vulture, the bird most detested by gods and men. These gods gave him an utter craving for human flesh and blood. Their female servant was changed into a woodpecker. As she was changing her shape she prayed to the gods not to become a bird evil for mankind. Hermes and Ares heard her prayer because she had by necessity done what her masters had ordered. This a bird of good omen for someone going hunting or to feasts."
He is also associated with horses, as his chariot is pulled by them.
Another notable animal are the bronze bulls, depicted as so:
Ovid, Heroides 12.39 ff : "The condition is imposed [by King Aeetes] that you [Jason] press the hard necks of the fierce bulls at the unaccustomed plow. To Mars [Ares] the bulls belonged, raging with more than mere horns, for their breathing was of terrible fire; of solid bronze were their feet, wrought round with bronze their nostrils, made black, too, by the blasts of their own breath."
Notable Epithets:
Thêritas - Beastly, brutish
Gynaikothoinas - Feasted by women
Enyalios - Warlike
Khrysopêlêx - Of the golden helm
Obrimos - Strong, mighty
Worship
His This section is going to be mainly UPG, so if you think of something else you'd like to do or give, please do so, as long as it is respectful.
Sacred Day:
Tuesday
Offerings:
Snake symbolism
Symbolism of His sacred birds
Spicy food
Feathers from His sacred birds (sourced ethically)
Self defense weapons
Imagery of Him
Devotional Activities:
Workout or do physical activity
Go to a protest
Stand up for yourself and what you believe in
Work on anger management
Honor Aphrodite and their children together
Do something you're really passionate about

Ares, the god of war 🩸
Also including an Aphrodite ref sheet that I've had 90% finished for like the last 8 months but hadn't bothered to finish until just recently lol
Anyways buckle up because I'm about to start YAPPIN
I wasn't sure how this was gonna go at first because I don't have a lot of experience with designing male characters and it's not something I typically enjoy but I really like how he turned out and I really enjoyed the process. I was like wait this is fun actually, it's different than what I usually draw.
I've been wanting to do something with Ares for a long time because I think he's really slept on in the Greek mythology community. I think Ares and Aphrodite probably have the healthiest relationship in Greek mythology and I've always found it interesting that the ancient Greeks paired Love with War
I've seen people talk shit about Aphrodite like "oh she cheats on her husband, that's so shitty" like,, you mean the husband she was forced to marry? Ok... But on that note I think Aphrodite and Hephaestus's marriage is interesting and it is something I plan on doing something with. Hephaestus is another one of the few seemingly upstanding men in Greek mythology so I feel like he treats Aphrodite with respect and they find love between each other after some time, in their own way.
Something I always think about is Ares is such a good dad?? He's often depicted in statues with Eros and in war is almost always accompanied by Deimos and Phobos. like yes, spend quality time with your children, so cute <3 Also he supports his Amazon daughters. He unalives a man who assaulted his daughter and it pisses off Poseidon so bad that they INVENT court to put him on trial just for Ares to go "Yeah I did it, and I'd fuckin do it again" and gets acquitted
Back to my Ares design. I thought it would be interesting if his scars were transient, as in not really permanent scars but more like very slowly healing wounds filling with ichor. The only way he can scar permanently is if the injury is inflicted on him by another immortal...
Stole the glowy hair from Disney's Hercules because that shit is peak character design
I was not going to draw any helmets at first because... I didn't want to lol but I read that he like almost always had his helmet. Like he's showing up to fancy dinners carrying his helmet. So I was like okay fine have your emotional support helmet lol
His spear is a gift from Aphrodite, it has a little heart design engraved into it <3 I find Warlike Aphrodite VERY interesting and I like to imagine her having a surprisingly strong affinity for conflict
Personality wise, Ares tries to put up a tough guy "whatever. I don't care act" but he is actually very much a people pleaser and has a distinct desire to be accepted. He is keenly aware that he is not well liked among the gods nor the mortals. He is not the beloved, wise, tactical Athena. He is Bloodlust and Carnage, he is the ugliest sides of war. To most mortals he is a god to appease, not worship.
He loves his mother, and he is her favorite child. He has spent his life defending her, even as a child and even against his father. He is not well liked by his father, but this is typical of Zeus, who is paranoid that one of his sons will eventually continue the family's proclivity for patricide.
Anyways thank you for reading my essay. I will be making more Aphrodite/Ares content very soon. I hope you enjoy

Note
I saw one of your posts saying that the reason Aphrodite was paired with Hephaestus is because she originates from Cyprus which produced copper and copper is associated with blacksmiths, Hephaestus' domain. However, Aphrodite had plenty other affairs, one of the most popular being with Ares. I learnt recently that in certain parts of Greece (particularly in Sparta), they worshipped her as a war deity, so does that explain her affair with Ares, god of war?
And what about Hermes and Adonis?
Hmm I do not recall which post of all you are referring my dear Anon but either way I am not sure I should say that Aphrodite is paired with Hephaestus because of copper, I should say that their relationship as husband and wife reflects on Cyprus being one of the possible birth places of Aphrodite and a rich source of copper thus their pair as husband and wife is a symbolism of that combination and of course the essence of love and creation are always there. Thus the fact that Aphrodite was the legal wife to Hephaestus according to many myths. Either way of course Cyprus being associated with copper would contribute to the co-worship of this couple but the reasons behind their union are of course more complex.
Of course Aphrodite had plenty of lovers including gods and mortals with some of the most famous mortals being Anchises (father to Aeneas) and Adonis who according to some myths had a miraculous birth through a tree like herself from the sea etc
Ares of course is her most famous or infamous lover with whom Aphrodite had plenty of children as well (and the story of her affair is rescued already from Homer's Odyssey in which the jealous husband Hephaestus traps the lovers in a bed with chains but they are let go after Poseidon speaks against the punishment of them being tied forever together. Of course the association of love and war go together (love for a person, love for your country, love for your culture and religion etc) which arguably is the primary source of war. One can say even love and lust for territories and money can contribute to that. The concept of love and violence are also signed side by side. The desire to fight for the ones you love is actually very well placed by The Anacreontea in which Eros actually binds Aphrodite and Ares in love together in fragment 28:
One day Ares came in from the battlefield brandishing a strong spear and began to make fun of Eros' weapon. Eros said ‘This one is heavy : try it and you will see.’ Ares took the javelin, while Cypris (Aphrodite) smiled quietly; and with a groan he said, ‘It is heavy , take it back.’ ‘Keep it,’ said Eros
So basically Ares falling instantly in love with her, while holding the spear that belonged to her son Eros, by just looking at her. Their children also kinda reflect on how love and war can be possibly a deadly combination (Deimos and Phobos), violence and love can be passion (Eros) however love can also tame war and bring balance (Harmony). Also despite the fact that their bond was oftentimes mentioned as "marriage" the fact that most of the time they are named as lovers in an extramarital affair has its significance given how violence and war can often be seen as "unlawful". Of course the association of Aphrodite as a war deity either because of this union or outside this union as an individual deity plays also a great role of importance to this union.
Adonis is also associated with youth and spring and beauty. Arguably many of the domains of Aphrodite herself. Besides one of the most prominent characteristics of Adonis is his beauty and secondary his youth. He does represent the domains of Aphrodite thus the goddess of love falls in love with a man that according to Greek standards aspires love and of course according to some versions as I said Adonis was born through a tree, more specifically his mother Myrrha who transformed into a tree out of shame because Aphrodite had aspired in her heart unlawful passion for her father, which she fulfilled and got pregnant so eventually Adonis was born out of the body of his mother (the tree) and thus came to be. So Aphrodite fell in love with him for his beauty and youth the very first moment she lay eyes upon him. His death is also tragic event given how there is one version of the myth between the dispute between Aphrodite and Persephone in which Aphrodite wanted to hide Adonis from everyone else so she could have him all to herself but when she was away she put him in a box and gave him to Persephone telling her not to open that box, which of course she did and she fell in love with Adonis and so the two goddesses demanded to have their share on him and eventually Adonis was associated with coming up and down from the underworld pretty much like Persephone herself. His death is also associated with the jealousy of Ares since as we know the youth wanted to hunt despite Aphrodite's pleas to get him to stop and Adonis died hunting a boar and there is also the version in which that boar was actually Ares in disguise who wanted to kill the rival to his lover. In one way that strikes me as a symbolism on how war usually takes the lives of youths first.
Hermes is of course another god associated with youth and once more love and passion attracts youth. Hermes is also a mischievous god capable of hidden and oftentimes illegal actions. In a way that is a playful union. Of course just like Adonis, Hermes is also associated with the underworld and therefore rebirth and death. He is also a god associated with flocks and merchants and travels. Arguably being a traveler requires to love adventure and love what you do and be brave to face the unknown. Aphrodite is also associated with flocks and nature and certain animals just like Hermes is so in a way their attributes are again harmonizing. Hermes is also associated with animal husbandry so the fact that Aphrodite is associated with fertility makes sense why their union is so important. As a god of astronomy and calendar Hermes seems to associate or harmonize with Aphrodite and her parental from Uranus instead or the protection of the house which again associates with Aphrodite and her loving and protective role Hermes was also associated with alchemic rituals later. Which in one way makes me wonder if they got also inspired by the birth of Hermaphroditus, the child between Aphrodite and Hermes that bears both sexes. In one way this reminds me the alchemic "perfect being" that is no male or female and is the source of creation and somehow the love that the alchemists place in their work is part of it as a symbolism (especially since Hermaphroditus merges with a Naiad to have both male and female sides)
And so on and so forth. Technically the unions between gods and goddesses are allegorically symbolizing their connections via their attributes or the way nature works etc. I hope this interpretation helps a bit

"Demeter didn't love any of her children except Persephone"
LOUD AND WRONG!
Persephone is the most important of Demeter's children, therefore she has the most myths about her, and she was the only one her mother's children who was kidnapped, therefore she's the only one we see Demeter's reaction to loosing a child.
"Well why was Persephone the only one she was protective of?"
We do not know if that's the case. The only reason Demeter's protectiveness over Persephone was ever made of note is because that information is directly relevant to the myth of her kidnapping, since Zeus grows a trail of beautiful flowers to lure Persephone away from her guardians and towards Hades.
Also, keep in mind that at the time of her abduction, Persephone was likely Demeter's only child. Arion and Despoina were specifically conceived during the time Persephone was kidnapped due to Poseidon taking advantage of the fact his sister was in a vulnerable state. While Demeter's anger at Poseidon is made of note, no where is it said she hated her children or mistreated them. If anything, I think the fact Despoina was sometimes worshipped alongside Demeter implies otherwise.
Arion is a horse and his myths all come from aiding heroes. Demeter doesn't really have major conflicts in her life where she is at the center of the story beyond Persephone's kidnapping (which happened before Arion's birth) and her doomed romance with Iasion (which isn't really something Arion can help her with).
Demeter's son with Iasion, the god Plutus, is mentioned alongside Demeter quite a few times in myth.
First thing you should know about him, his father was very much a mortal. He should have been a demigod, but his mother made him a god. I think that speaks for the love she had for him.
One source also outright states that he was loved by both his mother and half-sister Persephone.
Lastly, Plutus is Demeter's personal attendant...such as how Eileithyia & Hebe are their mother Hera's attendants, and how Phobos & Deimos are their father Ares's attendants, and how Eros is his mother Aphrodite's attendant, etc. (Do you get the point?) I don't think Demeter would keep him so close if she didn't love and trust him.

Loki got a candle.
Therefore, almost everyone got a candle 😆😅
Yes. I know most associate Loki with red. However, I side more with green and the nature aspect. Also appeared entirely different to me than most others. 🤷🏻‍♀️😅
This was alot of work. I know it doesn't look like it. But I had to clear two whole shelves of books. Some for little library donations and others for storage. All so I had more space 🫡☀️🥰
Chamomile tea for the sleepy boys 💤
Halloween season means lots of changes upcoming lol
Edit
I tried orange for Hephaestus. Be it the candle or what, but it hated burning. So I gave him Ares half used one for now.
Then, the endless amounts of giggles at hephaestus getting Ares left overs ensued.

Urban Gods Worship System
(I'm terrible at posting information about this project xD; )
So in the world of Urban Gods, it's basically the world of the myths, they just have cars and Instagram (btw, I'm open to suggestions on how to make "Instagram" a Greek mythology pun xD), and I wanted to come up with a replacement for animal sacrifices since that's no longer really a thing in our modern day society. While it is common to use altar worship, item and food offerings and prayers of a lot of modern worshippers in our world, since this is a world where gods are also active members of society, there's another, far more popular method - patronizing establishments owned by the gods themselves.
Several major gods own restaurants, hotels, chain stores and other establishments, while more minor gods, as well as nymphs, satyrs, and other benign creatures, will often be employed there. The following is a master list of establishments I have plotted out so far, and who owns and works for them...
Hades - Inferis - A subterranian casino resort in Athens; Charon, the Furies and the Keres will cycle working the different security posts, Thanatos works as waitstaff in the bar/restaurant areas, Hypnos works the front desk on the hotel side, Hecate appears to work some sort of upper management position, and Minthe works as the casino host at the beginning of the story, eventually being replaced by Persephone. Hermes frequently works as a bartender, and all other positions are often filled by unnamed nymphs, gorgons, and other Underworld creatures.
Zeus - Vronti - A luxury hotel chain, with the flagship location in Athens, overlooking the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Thetis works as the concierge, Hermes will work odd jobs throughout the whole building, Hephaestus leads the maintenance crew, and Hera appears to have some sort of job there, but it's somewhat unclear exactly what as through most of the story she and Zeus are hovering between their good terms and their bad terms xD
Poseidon - Atlantis - A small chain of beach tiki bars with "hidden" drug den areas. I haven't quite worked out where the flagship location is, but most of the time the location seen is the one in Athens. And yes... Athena hates that he has a location in Athens, which Poseidon denies being because of his grudge. Claims, "Well, my brothers have their flagship locations here, mortals would ask questions if I didn't, too...!" Pretty much all positions are filled by different sea nymphs and creatures and aren't individually identified yet.
Demeter and Dionysus - A farm/vineyard in Sicily with a shop attached. Basically it's an enormous farm property that different parts are run by Demeter or Dionysus, Persephone basically runs the shop, Plutus offers financial consulting, Triptolemus cares for the animals on site, and various nymphs and satyrs assist in other areas. Additionally, Dionysus also works as the drink master for all three of the kings' establishments.
Athena - A university in Athens. Not much else is developed about it so far as the only scene written involving it is a brief shot of a classroom and just exposits how the gods are "technically not related" according to my world, but Athena is the dean as well as teaching classes.
Hephaestus - Has no direct stores or anything, but is basically the diving force behind mortals developing computers and robotics.
Ares - Basically runs the this world's equivalent to the UFC, which, because it's run by Ares is a mite more violent than in our world. He also has a gym he operates in Sparta that Phobos and Deimos can often be seen working as personal trainers ar.
Aphrodite - A chain of adult toy stores that are franchised to Eros and the rest of her and Ares' kids, while she'll also offer love advice for a fee at the flagship location in Sparta (somewhere within walking distance to Ares' gym).
Apollo - Works as a pop idol, beyond that I don't really have much developed.
Artemis - Like Apollo, not very developed yet, but the idea that she runs a popular hunting blog.
Hestia - Owns a spa resort known for its luxurious food and services.
More will be edited in as I develop more/remember things as I was sick from stress at the original time of posting this. Follow me for more updates on this project and incorrect quotes! :)
