Quirky in Albuquerque: A Solo Trip to the Desert and Incubus
Sometimes being in a place on your own attracts like souls like you — and I’m so grateful. I made a quick 3-day trip out to Albuquerque, New Mexico in late August because, why the hell not? I had some extra time to embrace my free bird, book a flight, and explore someplace new. My good friends in Incubus were performing that Friday night at Rio Rancho Events Center and Michael Einziger was…

Yesterday was my birthday! Unfriendly took me to Ten 3, the restaurant at the top of the Sandia Peak Tramway. Our reservation was past sunset so the views of the mountains weren't easy to capture, but they looked so spooky and cool in the dark, which I loved. Unfriendly got a good pic when we got to the restaurant.
We had the pork belly as an appetizer, we both ended up having the filet, cocktails and dessert. I had a creme brulee flight and he had a chocolate dessert called Three Sisters.
The food was excellent but I'm not sure how I felt about the restaurant layout. I would definitely go again and want to try for sunset up there.
The pic from the parking lot really shows how high up we were in comparison.

January 5th 1899: saw the first electric-powered tram in Glasgow begins the replacement of the horse-drawn service.
The very beginnings of trams in the city can be traced back to The Glasgow Street Tramways Act of 1870, which allowed Glasgow Town Council to decide if they wanted to put tramways on the streets of the city.
The first horse drawn tram route was laid in 1872, running for a length of 4km between St George's Cross to Eglinton Toll on the south side of the city across Jamaica St bridge.
Fast forward 16 years, and in October 1898 the Glasgow Tramways Committee commenced an experimental electrified tram route between Springburn and Mitchell Street, the success of which paved the way for the electrification of the city's tram routes.
Doing so would see electric trams replace the more than 3000 horses used by the council to pull the cars over 150 miles of track throughout the city, which begun in 1899 when the council made a commitment to electrification.
Even with a top speed of 8 miles per hour, electrified trams were cheap, comfortable and - most importantly - reliable, and it wouldn't be long before they completely dominated the urban transport system of Glasgow.
n 1902, in a year when horse drawn cars stopped operation and with only half of the city's electrification complete, trams were already carrying 20% of the passenger total for the whole of Scotland.
Tram use became even more ubiquitous once the tram lines extended into the city's suburbs, peaking in 1919/1920, when an estimated 97.9% of people in the city used trams to move around - at a time when Glasgow had one of the most densely populated urban centres in Europe.
At one point in time the junction of Jamaica Street and Renfield Street in Glasgow city centre was among the busiest in the world, with an estimated 466 tram cars passing through every hour, a figure that would increase to 516 on Saturdays.
And the trams continued to be the most popular form of public transport in Glasgow well into the 1940's while in direct competition to buses, carrying up to four times as many passengers as buses as late as 1947.
Ten years later, over 1,000 tram cars were still serving city, carrying 300 million passengers a year over more than 250 miles of routes, yet trams had started to become an unprofitable enterprise for the city's transport department - in the face of the profitability of both the bus and subway network.
The last available figures released by Glasgow Corporation Transport Committee showed that in 1956/1967 52% of transport users used the tram network to get around , yet even so change was underfoot.
And despite the fact that Glaswegians were fiercely proud of their 'caurs', the tram system was gradually phased out between 1956 and 1962, with the final trams operating on September, 4 that year to mark the end for an era both for the city and its transport network.

the king had forsaken everything he ever did and fled into his dreams leaving only his dead selfdom and unheard repentance, littering the land in the forms of statues and black eggs and failed tramways and dead children. his corpse somewhere at the end of the world where you can follow his spine to the top and then back, his dreams locked so tightly behind his shame you have to shatter numerous other stories around you just to gain access to his, an act parallel to his reign and his life. you have to fight and you have to demand to get to the pinnacle of what he was so ashamed of and it was love, it stained the sacrifices everyone made in his name, once done with resolution and trust now in vain. the king had a clear beginning, peak, and ending whether in dream or death it wont matter because now he's gone, and the world moved on without him and despite him.
the queen is still there. she imprisoned herself and had a limited view of what was happening on the outside but she knew enough to tell that the plan she played such a big part in has failed. yet somehow, within minutes of meeting you after so long down in her paralyzed kingdom she asks you to do it all over again. the fate of her kingdom is up to you and she makes that clear. she reminisces the past and she does not acknowledge its death. the king's story had an ending, you could argue that he gave it to himself. the queen's is in limbo, she absolutely gave it to herself. you could not change her mind and neither could flowers. and you could not make her face what she has done.
you leave her there.
#anyway.#ALL HAIL THE ANCIENT LIGHT.#i booted up the game i had thoughts. probably totally inaccurate i forgor alot of this game#these two are equally horrible monarchs so i cannot pity them but it took me a while to appreciate that theyre great characters#i used to ignore them but now without taking it super personally i like what they give the story and what it all says.#the game wont forgive them and its worth finding all the pieces of their lore remembering who theyare and what they've done#so sometimes i write stuff out like this to put it into perspective. i have no point to make here this isnt analysis its art#but umm you should accept the old light 😐 if you havent already. just saying not judging#randomizer#revisiting the source material is like visiting a pokemon center it heals me

Fandom: Good Omens Relationships: Aziraphale/Crowley Rating: T for language; rating will not change Wordcount: 22,220 Chapter: 3/4 Fic Summary: “Do you remember your Synoptic Gospels?” “Er.” “The Transfiguration on the mountain. That’s where, it’s all going to happen again. Nobody knows when, but at that point She’ll have to get involved. And I have to be there.” Crowley is trying to keep up. “You want to take him back to Israel? Mount Tabor isn’t exactly around the block.” Aziraphale shakes his head. “It’s not the location necessarily. The topography is symbolic, the mountain summit is where the veil thins and Earth and Heaven meet. Where’s the highest peak in America?” “Dunno, Alaska I think. You think God’s gonna talk to you just because you climb a mountain?”

Dear Gus & Magnus,
Yiayia came home from Big Yiayia's house in Las Vegas yesterday. She joined us for dinner and gave you your birthday presents early -- portable DVD players/tablets for our upcoming road trip to Arizona to see Grandpa & Tutu and back. Mom and I have lifted restrictions on screen-time for the trip because we realize we're asking a lot of you to spend three days in the car each way. But even if it's going to be a long trip, we're all excited about it. Stops planned at Cadillac Ranch, Sandia Peak Tramway, Grand Canyon, White Sands, Legoland, Meow Wolf.
Dad.
Little Rock, Arkansas. 6.6.2024 - 5.17pm.

The Pale king isn't a colonizer, the moths joined him willingly. Nor are we condoning his actions. Yes he killed children. But in a fit of desperation. What would you have down? We know he ultimately regretted his choice and arguably died from grief.
Ps. That's a really nice edit!
I made it in 5 seconds in ibis paint which is surprisingly good for editing if you’re interested in getting into that but like. A fit of desperation in which he killed enough children to make a body pit also, taken from my DMs in several posts where I’ve debated with my friend: (colored for dyslexia help!)
there are literal monoliths and structures and statues dedicated to PK completely overwriting the moth’s history as it’s stated plainly ingame
the HK statue the PK fountain the idea of the archives being made to “contain” knowledge the blatant colonist themes of having stations named King and Queen’s station
you can even see the line where it cuts between the impoverished (literally called Dirtmouth) where they live with very little other than ramshackle houses & a well and the city of tears where they have giant spiraling buildings and walls that cut off the outside
it’s even explicitly stated that herrah disallowed PK from doing the same thing to deepnest—the attacks on the destroyed tramway implying he TRIED TO GO THROUGH WITH IT ANYWAY (sorry emphasis) which is like. come on
deepnest bugs are even referred to as beasts and very much made ‘other’ and ‘other’-people because of the fact that they didn’t want to work with PK until herrah gave in with the radiance threat
The way crystal peaks is implied to be a sacred place by the shaman living there and the huge statue of the radiance at the top being taken and used as a mine
And PK himself implied to have abandoned his people and escaped reckoning by removing the entire palace leaving even the higher class people unrelated to the monarchy high and dry
and there’s so little of any culture left in Hallownest beside what pk made and took. Unn abandoned her people to rot and the Lifeblood beast is sleeping with the only person related to it (Joni) being asleep in a sealed room. Deepnest is empty and the Mantises are basically the only surviving colony beside the Hive, who all emit infection clouds and whose queen died.
He literally colonized Hallownest lol like. Even if you see it as gods warring over territory it’s still colonialism if you uproot hundreds of peoples lives and faith and replace it with your own. Also the fucking mass infanticide like you don’t do infanticide not only once not even five times but millions of times MILLIONS of times out of desperation. come on.
Anyway seeing this take so often despite the shit ton of proof is a little annoying but I do love discussing and debate also. Sorry for text dump

Good evening all! Apologies for my absence. Ages ago I had asked @skylerwhiteofficial on a date with me to the Sandia Peak Tramway. We never got around to it until recently because of... a multitude of factors. But, we finally made it. I took a few days off from business blogging to appreciate Skyler and spend time with her. I snapped a few photos of her, as shown. It appears I have a lot to catch up on with the group, and there's a few things I eventually need to catch you all up on as well. Much love.
