How a Virtual Medical Receptionist Can Improve Patient Satisfaction
In the ever-evolving healthcare landscape, patient satisfaction has become a critical metric for medical practices striving to deliver exceptional care. One innovative solution that has gained traction in recent years is the virtual medical receptionist. In this blog, we'll explore how a remote medical receptionist can enhance the patient experience and improve overall satisfaction.
Tumblr media
Improved Accessibility and Responsiveness
A remote medical receptionist can significantly enhance the accessibility and responsiveness of a medical practice. These virtual receptionists are available 24/7, ensuring that patients can reach the practice at their convenience, whether it's to schedule appointments, inquire about procedures, or seek general information. This level of accessibility can greatly improve patient satisfaction by addressing their needs in a timely manner.
Efficient Appointment Scheduling
Virtual medical assistants can streamline the appointment scheduling process, reducing the burden on the practice's staff and providing a seamless experience for patients. With advanced scheduling algorithms and real-time availability updates, these virtual assistants can efficiently book appointments, handle rescheduling requests, and send appointment reminders, all while maintaining a high level of accuracy and responsiveness.
Enhanced Communication and Personalization
Remote medical assistants can provide a personalized and empathetic communication experience for patients. These virtual receptionists are trained to handle patient inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail. By tailoring their responses to each patient's needs and preferences, the remote medical receptionist can foster a stronger sense of connection and build trust, ultimately enhancing overall patient satisfaction.
Reduced Wait Times and Improved Efficiency
Virtual medical receptionists can help reduce wait times and improve the overall efficiency of a medical practice. By handling routine inquiries and administrative tasks, these virtual assistants free up the practice's staff to focus on patient care, ultimately leading to shorter wait times and a more positive patient experience.
Consistent and Reliable Support
Unlike traditional in-person receptionists who may be subject to scheduling conflicts or absences, a remote medical receptionist provides a consistent and reliable support system for patients. This consistency can contribute to a sense of trust and familiarity, further enhancing the patient's perception of the practice.
Enhance your medical practice with DrCatalyst's comprehensive healthcare staffing solutions! Our remote medical receptionist services ensure seamless patient communication and efficient appointment scheduling, all while reducing overhead costs. hello friends! I won't be making a GoFundMe for this, since I thankfully don't have to choose between buying groceries & getting vet care for my cat Peggy, but things are a lil *tight* bc of a series of unfortunate financial events (which I will list below the cut for those interested) so if anyone has a few bucks to spare and wants to help me offset the $485 mysterious lump removal surgery my lil baby is getting on Tuesday, I would greatly appreciate it
Cashâpp: $jessiedube (my cat Peggy Sue is my profile pic/name is Jess Bee)

heyoo if you wanna hear the money shit that's plagued us you are in the correct place. let us begin our chronicle in August, when I made the grand decision to go back to college for a school media specialist certification. I am enjoying it v much and do not regret it at all, but it did mean that I left my decently paying but incredibly toxic retail job and went back to getting paid beans as an adjunct professor at a community college + had to pay 3k in tuition
next Luna, my loveable but temperamental 2011 Ford Fiesta, started having Problems™️, including but not limited to: water pump replacement (which for some fuckall reason on my car requires cutting & replacing the timing belt?? which of course means it cost more), downstream oxygen sensor replacement, and a new set of front tires bc those bitches were BALD (you could literally see the steel coming out of the side). to add fuel to the fire of my ongoing anxieties, her check engine light comes on and off every few days, it's a perpetual game of chicken. when I was able to catch it on and get it checked she reported a catalytic system issue, which has in the past been cured by a bottle of cataclean, so of course she needed that too. all of which adds up to the tune of about 1.5k (thankfully she's paid off but like she's only worth 2.5k so if she keeps having issues i am SOL)
during all of the back and forth with Luna, my partner has been having dental appointments for ongoing teeth issues. we were under a time crunch to get those taken care of since she turned 26 in October, and in the great land of America that means she was kicked off of her dad's insurance on Halloween. so, after a couple appointments that included tooth extraction and the making of a denture set in exchange for CareCredit agreements, we're in 2.1k of medical debt for that (she also is now without insurance so that's fun)
and, the cherry on top and the thing that has pushed me to appeal to the Internet, a few weeks ago we found two mysterious lumps on my cat Peggy Sue's hip, which are scheduled to be removed and sent off to a lab on Tuesday. I won't retell the whole story here, but you can check the "Peggy Sue" tag on my blog for a few more in depth posts on the situation. overall her care adds up to around $900, $485 of that which is the Tuesday surgery that I'm driving to another state for (my vet was crazy expensive so I'm going to a friend's recommendation)
anyway, I know that I'm lucky to even be able to cover all of these via savings and credit cards without it threatening my food/housing, but things are, understandably, a bit tight. I hate asking for help for myself, but if anyone wants to help take care of my cat, I would greatly appreciate it
or, if you prefer to buy things, I will be listing some collectable Barbies on my eBay in the next week or so, if you're interested in that I can send you my eBay page
pic of Peggy for getting this far, thank you <3

Payment posting
Payment posting plays a vital role in the management of the healthcare revenue cycle (RCM). This process entails the documentation and reconciliation of payments received from various sources, including insurance companies, patients, and other payers for medical services rendered. Precise payment posting is essential for healthcare providers to monitor their revenue, detect discrepancies or denials, and effectively manage accounts receivable. Payment posting can be categorized into two primary types: 1. Manual Payment Posting: In this method, a payment poster inputs payment details into the healthcare provider's billing system manually. Although this approach can be labor-intensive, it offers enhanced control over the posting process. 2. Automated Payment Posting: This method utilizes electronic remittance advice (ERA) to facilitate the automatic posting of payments. Automation enhances the speed of the process, minimizes errors, and boosts overall efficiency. The principal tasks involved in payment posting include: - Posting Payments: Recording the amount received, along with its source (insurance, patient, etc.). - Reconciliation: Verifying that the posted payments correspond with the remittance advice or explanation of benefits (EOB). - Managing Denials: Identifying denied claims and ensuring they are promptly addressed. - Patient Billing: Updating patient accounts in accordance with posted payments and generating bills for any outstanding balances. For RCM processes, the timely and accurate execution of payment posting is essential, as it directly influences cash flow, patient satisfaction, and the financial stability of healthcare organizations.

Things the Biden-Harris Administration Did This Week #31
August 9-16 2024
President Biden and Vice-President Harris announced together the successful conclusion of the first negotiations between Medicare and pharmaceutical companies over drug prices. For years Medicare was not allow to directly negotiate princes with drug companies leaving seniors to pay high prices. It has been a Democratic goal for many years to change this. President Biden noted he first introduced a bill to allow these negotiations as a Senator back in 1973. Thanks to Inflation Reduction Act, passed with no Republican support using Vice-President Harris' tie breaking vote, this long time Democratic goal is now a reality. Savings on these first ten drugs are between 38% and 79% and will collectively save seniors $1.8 billion dollars in out of pocket costs. This comes on top of the Biden-Harris Administration already having capped the price of insulin for Medicare's 3.5 million diabetics at $35 a month, as well as the Administration's plan to cap Medicare out of pocket drug costs at $2,000 a year starting January 2025.
President Biden and Vice President Harris have launched a wide ranging all of government effort to crack down on companies wasting customers time with excessive paperwork, hold times, and robots rather than real people. Some of the actions from the "Time is Money" effort include: The FTC and FCC putting forward rules that require companies to make canceling a subscription or service as easy as signing up for it. The Department of Transportation has required automatic refunds for canceled flights. The CFPB is working on rules to require companies to have to allow customers to speak to a real person with just one button click ending endless "doom loops" of recored messages. The CFPB is also working on rules around chatbots, particularly their use from banks. The FTC is working on rules to ban companies from posting fake reviews, suppressing honest negative reviews, or paying for  positive reviews. HHS and the Department of Labor are taking steps to require insurance companies to allow health claims to be submitted online. All these actions come on top of the Biden Administration's efforts to get rid of junk fees.
President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden announced further funding as part of the President's Cancer Moonshot. The Cancer Moonshot was launched by then Vice-President Biden in 2016 in the aftermath of his son Beau Biden's death from brain cancer in late 2015. It was scrapped by Trump as political retaliation against the Obama-Biden Administration. Revived by President Biden in 2022 it has the goal of cutting the number of cancer deaths in half over the next 25 years, saving 4 million lives. Part of the Moonshot is Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), grants to help develop cutting edge technology to prevent, detect, and treat cancer. The President and First Lady announced $150 million in ARPA-H grants this week focused on more successful cancer surgeries. With grants to Tulane, Rice, Johns Hopkins, and Dartmouth, among others, they'll help fund imaging and microscope technology that will allow surgeons to more successfully determine if all cancer has been remove, as well as medical imaging focused on preventing damage to healthy tissues during surgeries.
Vice-President Harris announced a 4-year plan to lower housing costs. The Vice-President plans on offering $25,000 to first time home buyers in down-payment support. It's believed this will help support 1 million first time buyers a year. She also called for the building of 3 million more housing units, and a $40 billion innovation fund to spur innovative housing construction. This adds to President Biden's call for a $10,000 tax credit for first time buyers and calls by the President to punish landlords who raise the rent by over 5%.
President Biden Designates the site of the 1908 Springfield Race Riot a National Monument. The two day riot in Illinois capital took place just blocks away from Abraham Lincoln's Springfield home. In August 1908, 17 people die, including a black infant, and 2,000 black refugees were forced to flee the city. As a direct result of the riot, black community leaders and white allies met a few months later in New York and founded the NAACP. The new National Monument will seek to preserve the history and educate the public both on the horrible race riot as well as the foundation of the NAACP. This is the second time President Biden has used his authority to set up a National Monument protecting black history, after setting up the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument on Emmett Till's 82nd birthday July 25th 2023.
The Department of The Interior announced $775 million to help cap and clean up orphaned oil and gas wells. The money will help cap wells in 21 states. The Biden-Harris Administration has allocated $4.7 billion to plug orphaned wells, a billion of which has already been distributed. More than 8,200 such wells have been capped since the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed in 2022. Orphaned wells leak toxins into communities and are leaking the super greenhouse gas methane. Plugging them will not only improve the health of nearby communities but help fight climate change on a global level.
Vice-President Harris announced plans to ban price-gouging in the food and grocery industries. This would be a first ever federal ban on price gouging and Harris called for clear "rules of the road" on price rises in food, and strong penalties from the FTC for those who break them. This is in line with President Biden's launching of a federal Strike Force on Unfair and Illegal Pricing in March, and Democratic Senator Bob Casey's bill to ban "shrinkflation". In response to this pressure from Democrats on price gouging and after aggressive questions by Senator Casey and Senator Elizabeth Warren, the supermarket giant Kroger proposed dropping prices by a billion dollars

Wrote this a while ago for I think an Angsty August prompt but never posted it. Stumbled across it a few days ago and realized I actually liked it, so here it is
Rated: T | Words: 935 | CW: Anxiety attack | Tags: hurt/comfort, Eddie Munson needs a hug, Steve Harrington has chronic pain, Eddie Munson takes care of Steve Harrington, Eddie Munson loves Steve Harrington, Steve Harrington loves Eddie Munson, the stress and imperfection of caring for someone with a chronic illness
-
There are bills. There are always fucking bills – a pile of them lying on the kitchen table where Eddie sits now, head hanging, hair clenched in his fists as he tries to breathe.
He’s pulling so hard that he’s giving himself a headache, and it nearly makes him laugh, but he refrains. He gets the feeling that if he starts, he might not stop – he’ll get louder and louder, maybe get a little hysterical, and then he’ll disturb Steve, who’s currently laid up with the mother of all headaches. Eddie’s little tension headache pales in comparison to the might of the migraine.
At least it’s Saturday. Steve hadn’t had to miss another shift, and Eddie is free to stay home and keep him company. Not that there’s much Eddie can do; he takes another shaking breath, trying to burst the band of anxiety wrapped tight around his chest, but his thoughts keep racing.
The envelopes piled on the table stare back at him as he blinks watery eyes down at his placemat, rent and utilities and medical bills all crying out for payment. Eddie’s job is barely enough to keep them afloat, and Steve – he helps as much as he can. His new job doesn’t pay as much as his last had, but fewer and more flexible hours reduce the chances he’ll get fired after calling out one too many times (like his last job).
(And Eddie can admit, if only in the privacy of his own head, to some frustrated, bitter thoughts in his weaker moments, wondering why Steve can’t just push through his pain like Eddie does. There are days when Eddie’s scars act up, when his body aches and he wants nothing more than to stay in bed, but he doesn’t.
But then he sees the results of Steve “pushing through it” – ignoring the way his whole body hurts, moving until he physically can’t anymore, until even breathing feels painful. Shoving off the impending signs of a migraine until they get mornings like this one: vomiting and stuttering and auras, sitting on the bathroom floor until Eddie can coax him back to bed.
He sees it, sees how much it kills Steve that he can’t do more, and feels ashamed.)
It isn’t just the bills weighing on Eddie’s mind, though. More even than money trouble—something with which Eddie at least has experience—it’s Steve that’s scaring him the most. The days when he’s overwhelmed by pain or by exhaustion, by fogginess and migraines, seem to be increasing, and Eddie doesn’t know what to do.
Scrape together enough money to go see another specialist who will tell them shit they already know and recommend treatments they can’t afford?
(Eddie would. If Steve’s doctor gave him yet another referral, Eddie would find a way to make it work. He’s just not sure anymore that it would help.)
He hates feeling useless. Hates sitting by, unable to do a damn thing, unable to solve the problem, stuck in place just like he had been in high school, dead weight, no good to anybody–
A rustling of sheets followed by a quiet groan reaches Eddie’s ears from the bedroom, snapping him from his spiral.
He sits up, then, releasing his hair and rubbing his hands over his cheeks, catching any stray moisture from beneath his eyes. He takes a few deep breaths, shaking less now, and stands from the table. There is one thing he can do, and even if it doesn’t feel like enough, Eddie is going to do it.
The bedroom is dim, curtains drawn over east-facing windows that blessedly get less light in the afternoon. The bed is a wreck of pillows and sheets, moved around or cast aside in an effort to alleviate the pain, to warm up or stay cool through a fluctuating body temperature. Steve lies in the middle of it all, turned now to face the door, one arm stretched over the empty space where Eddie had been.
His eyes are closed, but Eddie’s pretty sure he’s awake – sure enough, he pulls his arm back as soon as the bed dips under Eddie’s weight. Eddie slides back beneath the sheets and takes Steve’s hand with a gentle squeeze.
“Hey.”
Steve hums, eyes still closed, squeezing Eddie’s hand back. “Where’d you go?”
“Just got up to stretch my legs,” Eddie answers (it’s an easy lie, one Eddie feels no guilt over, because it’s better than explaining that he’d gotten up to avoid waking Steve with the anxiety attack that had built in his chest the longer he’d lain in the silence of their bedroom, watching the furrow between Steve’s brows that made him look pained even in his sleep).
After a moment, Steve’s eyes flutter open, searching Eddie’s face. Whatever he finds there makes his frown deepen.
“Kinda ruined our weekend, huh?” he says quietly. “’m sorry you’re stuck with me like this.”
“Don’t,” Eddie says lowly. “Never apologize. I’m not stuck with you, I love you.” He leans up, presses a kiss to Steve’s forehead, and Steve sighs.
He takes their joined hands and brings them to his lips, kissing the back of Eddie’s. “I love you, too,” he murmurs against Eddie’s skin.
“You need anything?” Eddie asks, before he really settles in.
Steve makes a noise in the negative. “Just you,” he says, lips still brushing Eddie’s hand. “That’s enough.”
Eddie can’t help the overwhelmed tears that well up in his eyes again. This is enough – they’re enough. As long as Eddie has Steve, they can figure the rest out together.
And that will always be enough.

NEED HELP WITH CAR REPAIRS + BILLS + TRANSPORTATION!
Tumblr media
PAYPAL | AMAZON WISHLIST | KOFI | GOFUNDME |PATREON | HOLIDAY WISHES LIST @ DREAMWIDTH
11/21/24 - Edited Post!
So we wracked up a $765 bill from our mover that, bless him, he's letting me pay off when I get he money. I also have car repairs (there's a few different things wrong with the car so we're aiming for $3000 to cover everything) and I'm in debt to PayPal by almost $600. I am also almost $1100 overdrawn due to loan payments and overdraft fees, so any help paying that down would be amazing.
We also have regular bills to cover, and while the medical taxis our insurance gets for us pick us up on time, we usually wait an hour or two to get home, which my mother absolutely cannot do if there's no place to sit, so I'd like to have money for Ubers to get us home from doctor appointments. I also need Ubers for shopping and taking care of non-medical stuff.
Any help at all would be utterly amazing. Reblogs are also much appreciated!
$347/$6000
EDIT 1: My mom now owes PayPal $250 so until I can pay it I won't be able to receive any donations. We still need help with groceries and paying the movers, though, so please help us cover the debt?
EDIT 2: Thank you to everyone who helped me get the laundry supplies! For the moment, I have enough to finish the rest of the laundry that we brought over, but we still need the wet vac to keep our floors clean, if anyone would be able to help with that.
