spent weeks psyching myself up to stand up to my mum and then immediately got shot down by her 😃👍
#vent incoming i apologise in advance for the long tags#we've lived together just the two of us since dec 2021 (although her boyfriend is here like 2/3 of the time as well)#and since i got my job in march 2022 i have been paying half of all the bills (literally down to like tv license when i barely watch the tv)#which is £300 a month#plus i buy all my own food + pay for the amazon prime she uses + contribute to various household things like toilet roll etc#and she doesn't have a mortgage so i am paying the same amount as her to live in her house#(and it is very much her house not our house)#and I've never been very happy with any of that but never complained either#but then recently it turned out she never set up the water bill when we moved in (it's one of the only bills i didn't sort for us)#so we have a huge backdated bill from dec 2021 and i knew she was going to tell me to pay half#so for the past month or so I've been preparing myself for this conversation and sure enough today she came and said 'we owe £700'#so i was like 'oh i thought maybe it would've been covered by my £300/month' which is the biggest stand I've been able to work myself up to#and she immediately started going on about how i live here too and use water too so it's just as much my responsibility to pay#and how when we're both earning i should be paying my share and i was like yeah i know that's why i never complained about paying before#but also i already pay more than most people would to live with their parents#and she went off about how actually most people charge their grown up kids rent on top of the bills so really i'm lucky i don't have to#(when she got the original £300 figure it was actually rounded up from like £240 to include 'rent' but i wasn't gonna bring that up now)#and in conclusion she doesn't see why she should be subsidising my bills#like i don't know maybe because you're my MOTHER and i am your CHILD who is just starting out in the adult world#and maybe that entitles me to being treated better than some lodger???!!!!!#anyway i paid the bill and now i'm trying and failing at not crying at my desk 😃#talking

Anyway, of course! Although I have to skip on the texture part because I don't feel comfortable sharing it rn (and also I had a hard time explaining my steps too zzzz) so perhaps I will open up about it one day
As for the lighting, I sat down for hours thinking of ways to explain it but i just dk how to explain it in English so I recorded the basic lighting I do most of the time:
You can get the shadow tree thing here on csp asset (although I bought it when it was cheaper I didn't know they raised it to 1000 clippy now 🤧) Another one that I use almost religiously is this one from creative market (my lect gave the file to us in class hhh I'm not insane enough to pay that much for an overlay). You don't need to pay at all though! I've seen tons of it in google for free its just a normal shadow overlay lol
I don't usually draw my own shadow and lighting and even for rim lights I just select the layer and use the shrink tool and gaussian blur the heck out of it. I think the last time I actually draw the shadow and lighting by hand is when I draw this one a few months ago (cw suggestive but link is here if you want to see the lighting)
Majority of the time I spend whenever I draw on my laptop is the lighting because it's mostly a trial and error process and it does takes time for me to figure out which one looks nice in the end. For the sake of time and simplicity of the video I just show the basic way of me doing the lighting but I did ended up working on the render more after I'm done with the video lol
Personally, I think doing color blocks and determining the overall tint of it (Like this one I set it to be like a warm pinkish tone) really helps you focus on what you want the end result to be and saves time on figuring out the color while you paint.

Why is it called Baby Shark Brooklyn?
uhhh okay so the most famous(?) version of baby shark that is from pinkfong (korean company w the charming little pink fox mascot) was just...given? that name I guess. apparently his name was originally ollie in I think the youtube shorts even though I wouldn't have known that cause I've never once heard him called that (also baby shark I found out today is a boy actually) but the name changed to brooklyn when they started making the show/movie that's on netflix I think? I assume it's to differentiate their baby shark from the millions of others that are out there so when u say baby shark brooklyn you know ur talkin about the one from pinkfong.

Andor is so fucking good, the best Star Wars media since the original series in my opinion.
#the valley is posting#now that's how you write a show; someone give their writing room an emmy (and also a fair share of the profits ofc pay your writers)#and here i was thinking we'd never have great star wars again#the first three episodes were slow i'll grant you that but once you get past the beginning#it's some of the most mature; well thought out; and radical writing you'll find on tv#all the characters are really well written with their own complicated motivations and goals#the different themes are like sucker punches to the gut executed with more precision than an operating scalpel#the creativity and the worldbuilding is so incredible and visceral#i gotta write up a proper review of this sometime

in hindsight i do see how saying thats a lie instead of something like thats not true or just being like no i bought it contributed to the pressure cooker of the situation but i still get mad when i think about this
#but i absolutely could have started off the conversation with where is my soap. but instead i asked the people who had been in my apartment#for a week while i wasnt there before i moved out if they knew where the soap that i left in the apartment before i left was#because of course they did. they were the only ones there! unless one of their guests that they never told me were coming over in the middle#of covid before any vaccine had been created#unless one of those fifty people who would come over every night without me knowing took it! btw i directly asked them when you have someone#coming over please let me know. you dont have to ask for permission i would just like to know when people who dont live here are going to be#in my apartment. and i said this in our second week of living together when it happened for the first time#i got notice that people were coming over like once maybe twice. sometimes i would overhear them talking about people coming over and find#out that way at least!#the nerve to accuse me of stealing like everything that they lost they blamed me for eating their ham and chicken chow mein when I WAS#LITERALLY VEGETARIAN like they would either eat their own food and forget about it or eat each others food and then just blame it on me. and#then they actually stole my shit! and tried to steal more! and got mad that i took the things that i paid for when i moved out!#they said we were splitting the cost of a vacuum three ways but made me pay more than the two of them for it. and then got so mad when i#took the vacuum (BECAUSE I PAID FOR MOST OF IT) that my mom just made me pay them what they paid#I DIDNT GET MY SHARE OF THE COUCH BACK BTW!!! I share my account on Disney + with my friends, and my friends have given me access to their account on Netflix. For a time our account on Netflix got blocked and guess what? Neither of us went ahead to buy that shit on our own, because pirating exists.
Be happy we're willing to give you any money, especially when your content sucks ass most of the time.
#honestly most of the time im pirating shows and movies anyway because i absolutely hate being interrupted#when my wifi is going out#or when the qt is going down due to slow internet#if it wasnt for my mum constantly moving around because of her job i probably wouldnt even share those accounts#but because i cant teach her how to pirate this content im stuck paying for it for now#because yeah our parents have access to those accounts as well which means that we have like... ten??? people all over the country#under the same user#and none of us are willing to pay for it separately#and now im remembering that our siblings are using those accounts as well as their spouses???#and my grandma is also connected to it with her brand new tv and is watching bridgerton on repeat to my absolute horror#so anyway forget about that ten people#make it twenty#it will be cold day in hell before you make poles pay for that shit more than one dollar a month

#I still owe $6k to my shit stain of a university but I'm trying to get my housing charge waived because of all the bs#and health code violations ive dealt with#I'm abt to threaten a lawsuit for sure#mold issues that never get dealt with#maintenance requests that are never completed#lack of AC in 90 degree weather#paper thin walls that make it impossible to block out the sound of ur neighbors#and my first semester my neighbors had their tv up against the shared wall and played their tv all day and all night#had to play yt videos at night to block it out but if i woke up at 2 am i wouldnt be able to go to bed bc of the soubd#sound#so id have to queue up another video#over and over again#and despite my calls to the RA on duty nothing was ever done#also for some reason i heard every loud noise from every apartment in the vicinity directly above me#despite me living on the highest floor. like i genuinely thought ppl were hanging out on the ceiling#but bc of my autism and the nonstop onslaught of noises i genuinely was losing my mind#and i began to hate going back to my apartment#i talked to someone and she was like well u live in the apartment u have to pay for it!#like girl these apartments are forsaken by g*d#if he were real#nothing works. stains everywhere. residue on the floor and counter tops that wont scrub off. broken lights#my sink cabinet was like. stained brown and orange lmfao like it looked disgusting idk#constant water dmg bc these complexes were built in the 60s and not updated since#and theyre incredibly expensive despite living in a sketchy town in indiana#awful#college is a scam#ugh

#this is a good one of these kinds of posts I swear#just wanna do a shoutout to my bestie even though I know he won’t see this#but I love him and feel like hyping him up anyway and don’t wanna make a whole actual post about it and annoy everyone#anyway yesterday I took my car in for an oil change and tune up thing and didn’t know how long it was gonna take so I set up a ride#with bestie back to my mom’s place if it was gonna be a while but then they said it’d only be like an hour and a half or so unless there was#actually something wrong with my car in which case we’d just discuss it and go from there. so bestie picks me up at the car place and I tell#him that and say he doesn’t have to stay and I can just wait there at the place if he’s busy but he says nah he gonna hang with me. asks if#I’m hungry and wanna get lunch and I hadn’t eaten yet so it worked out. went to the good Mexican place in town and order in their drive thru#I ask if he wants me to cash app him some money to cover my share and he very aggressively says ‘oh hell no’ which was honestly adorable and#really sweet. goes on to say ‘girl you know you don’t need to worry about money’ which is also super sweet and makes me feel all weird and#wiggly inside cause I’m not used to people being kind to me in that way or just buying me shit just because. and he’s always doing that kind#of stuff too just paying for my food or sending me money if I pick stuff up for us or whatever. dude got bucks at least good for him. but#yeah anyway so we got the food and then he went to a gas station to get us drinks then parked and ate and hung out with me until my car was#ready to go. even offered me money to cover the cost for the car if I needed anything major done and I could just pay him back little by#little. thankfully car is all good but his sentiment was well taken and much appreciated. gave me a big hug before we parted ways as he#usually does and bro gives the best hugs for real they’re so instantly comforting and you really feel the love they make me so happy. and he#even is gonna help me put together a new desk and chair at my house so I’ll have a place to do schoolwork at home and finally setup my tv in#my room. dude does so much for me and will then thank me just for hanging out with him as if I did anything special at all#this man deserves the whole fucking world and I’d do anything for him. love him so much#so ye that’s my hype post for my boy cause I just had to brag about him somewhere and get my feelings out#personal
