Okay I'm actually out of my country for reasons, so I don't have access to my computer or art supplies, but I still wanted to do something for @inukag-week, so I did this on my phone. It hits on Bickering, Personal, and Sacrifice, and if you imagine it happening at night, it could even count for Moonlight. 😆 There is actually more to my original idea that has some more storytelling elements to it, so when I finally get back to my normal location, I might give this another go, but it's something!

I've really enjoyed reading everyone's stories and seeing everyone's art this year and I'm glad I could get it together to participate, even if it's in a small way!♥️🤍💚

Just a little thing to finish out the week. Many thanks to the mod(s) of @inukag-week for setting all this up and being so diligent and dedicated with this event, and everyone who participated, whether by creating or consuming. We have our ship wars and hardships, but I fkn love this community. Inukag for LIFE ❤️💚

My Reason to Smile

"Thanks for cooking, Kagome! These are so good!" Sango hummed, licking a bit of whipped cream off her finger. "What did you say they were called again?" 

"These are Crepes! They're a French creation, but they've gotten pretty popular in Japan over the years," she hummed, carefully flipping the thin pancake in her frying pan. "You can put all kinds of things in them, but we tend to have sweet ones when they're made at my house, because that's what Sota likes. My Mom makes them special for him on his birthday."

"Kid's got good taste," Inuyasha nodded, speaking carefully around his mouthful.

Miroku had the decency to swallow before agreeing.

"I could see how they would be well-liked on a large scale, especially if they have so much variety."

"We actually have a Japanese version that's similar, but a lot less versatile; It's called okonomiyaki. I'm not sure when it got popular, but I haven't seen it yet in this period. Maybe I'll bring stuff to make some next time."

"Please do!" Shippo begged, finishing his crepe and then looking to the one Kagome was working on.

"While I'm thinking of it, Kagome," Miroku said, adjusting his hold on the napkin she'd given him, "You mentioned your mother makes these for your little brother's birthday. Did he have one recently?"

"Yep. Hit the big 1-0. I'm glad I was home for it."

"That reminds me, though," he continued, "when is your birthday? I don't think you've ever mentioned."

"Oh! My birthday is April thirtieth, so a few months back," she hummed, glancing up over the pan at Inuyasha, who had scarfed down both crepes with an unmatched voracity and was now watching her make the next one with the same hungry eyes. "Actually, I fell down the well for the first time on my fifteenth birthday, the same day I met Inuyasha."

She gave him a grin when he looked up in surprise.

Inuyasha's mind raced: the day they'd met? He'd woken up on her birthday?

He bit the inside of his lip as he remembered his first meeting with Kagome - mistress centipede, the jewel… his threats… and yeah, sure, he'd never actually planned on hurting her. Even thinking she was Kikyo, he hadn't wanted to hurt her, and once he was corrected, he just wanted to scare her into giving him the jewel. She'd put on a brave face, but she was new to the world of demons. He'd probably scared her pretty good.

"My grandpa always says that the universe gives you a gift for your birthday," she continued, drawing his wary eye again. "And that you have to watch out for it and make certain to be grateful. I was just lucky enough to get a new best friend as my gift."

Inuyasha felt his face go hot. He did his best to avoid her gaze, but it didn't last long. She was plating the fresh crepe, but she looked at him through her lashes and bangs, still with that soft smile. She held out the wrap, and he sat up, leaning over the fire to take it.

"... You're my best friend, too," he mumbled, almost too quiet to hear. Kagome's easy grin grew until she beamed, and he offered a small smile in return, amused and pleased at how much joy his words brought her.

Day 1 - Comfort

Trying my best to participate in InuKag fluff week this year!

I like to think that sometimes when Kagome just has a bad day, she'll go up and hug Inuyasha. As time passes, he freaks out less when she does it, but the first time she did it, he turned into an awkward (seemingly) angry blushy mess XD

But he gives good hugs so she almost always immediately feels better <3

Your art is soooooo good! How did you learn to create such amazing pieces? You draw emotions so well. Is it something you do full time? I recently discovered the Inuyasha fandom here on Tumblr and I have to say I love how well you create Inuyasha and Kagome. Are you working on any new work? Or will be participating in events? That's so sweet, thank you! 🥰 I've been drawing since I was a kid, and self-taught for the most part. It is! I do freelance work and create content on my patreon.

I am, actually! I've been working on some commissions for others, and I'm also working on completing the third chapter of my fic-turned-comic, Mating Fever. There's another "mini" comic I'm working on, and I've been sketching some fic-inspired art as well. Oh! And there's a piece for a zine I'm almost finished with!

I think, depending on the prompts, that I might take part in InuKag week again? I'd like to do more days than last year, at least. I don't think I got to draw anything for it; I ended up writing a couple fics instead.

Hi, Anon!

I signed up for Inu-Spiration and am definitely looking forward to participating in Inuvember! I'm honestly biting off more than I can chew here, since I will be participating in NaNoWriMo as well and dedicating it to working on an InuKag Bodyguard AU I've been dying to start for years now.

I've never participated in InuSecretSanta before, but it seems like a lot of fun, so there's a 70% chance I'll join. The Sugar and Spice Event also looks like a blast, but I'm not sure if I'll be creating for that one yet. If I survive November, I'll let you know. 😅

I usually don't participate much in writing events, but lately I've found that the pressure of having a deadline motivates me to write and gets the creative juices flowing. That's why I've just been going for it and throwing myself into events lately.

I just completed Sins Week 2022 with 7 SessSan ficlets and am currently trudging through Flufftober which I'm dedicating to MidoKirin (doing all 31 days, baby!!!).

I honestly don't know if this has been done before 😅 but...

I tried to curate all of the important dates in Inuyasha fandom. Mostly are celebration events for pairings and families that are canon per Rumiko Takahashi (appear or mentioned in the animanga), held both on tumblr and twitter, but I also put some rare pair/crack ship events in it. I was hoping that by collecting it all in one place, then we could have a one big timeline for (nearly) all our weekly or monthly events 😁 So it would be easier for artists and authors to track which event they wanted to participate in or maybe it could be used to just simply keeping up with their schedules, because after writing it all down I've realized that our fandom's agenda are packed 😂😂

Some of the events I wrote already have fixed dates for this year's celebration, but there are others that haven't as well. For those with no specific date yet, I put the estimation when will it be held e.g. mid September, end October, etc., based on its last year's schedule.

If anyone's wondering, I didn't put all SessRin ship events in the timeline because they have so many events in just one month, that if I attempted to put every and each one of them, all the scheduled events will overlap. That's why I think it'd be better if SessRin shippers made their own calendar agenda.

2. Will you participate in any fandom exchanges or fic challenges, etc? 

I dunno if InuKag week would count as a fic challenge, but if that one takes place again this year I'd like to try to write something for it? I think any fandom exchanges I've done in the past were mostly with art on my end cause I'm not sure that my writing would be on par for that lol I get nervous still with art.

11. Would you like to try any new fanfic genres or tropes this year?

I've got a couple ideas that would suit "enemies to lovers", one more than the other, but they don't get off to a great start in either. I'm not totally sure if I'll get to work on either this year, but I'd be satisfied if I could thoroughly outline one at least.

12. Will you change anything about the way you edit or rewrite this year?

Yeah - to give myself a break when I'm not doing as much as I feel like I should be. When I really got back into writing, cause I'd hit a slump, it was right before the pandemic. And then there was this massive wave of people writing all the time, and the inspiration was going hard, and it felt like you were going to disappear if you didn't keep up. There were so many events, and it felt like there was this energy that expected you to do everything, so burning out shouldn't have been surprising. And now there's other things keeping me from writing as much, but I still feel like back then. It's dumb. So now when I edit I need to remind myself that it's alright if it's not posted when I thought it'd be. The important part is that I finished it and am satisfied with it.
