Inu-Mothership Spotlight Encore: Fleet Week 2022: Day 1: New (to You) Ship Day!
Hello everyone! Fleet Week 2023 is just around the corner, so every day this week, the mods at @inu-mothership will be bringing you special sets of fic recs: one per day, featuring the fics that were posted as part of Fleet Week 2022!
Today we begin with Day 1: May 22, 2022. That day was New (to You) Ship Day, or a day where people wrote ships that they had never written before! Stories are listed below the cut, in alphabetical order. We hope you enjoy revisiting these stories, and remember that this year, our theme is Port or Starboard: check our master post for all of this year's prompts!
The Best Boy(Girl)friend (KagSan; T; ongoing) by @fawn-eyed-girl
Sango has been hopelessly in love with her best friend Kagome since the day they met. And while Kagome has talked about nothing but boys, she's never had a boyfriend, and never made a move on a boy (or anyone else, for that matter), and so, Sango has been content to keep their relationship status quo.
That is, until Kagome bemoans the fact that prom is coming, and they don't have boyfriends, so wouldn't it be amazing for them to practice dating...with each other?
This is the story of how Sango can never say no to Kagome, even when it means her heart, and how Kagome found love, in the most unexpected (or perhaps, the most expected) of places.
Connect the Dots (InuKogKag; M; complete) by @mrfeenysmustache/AshMish111 (Ao3)
Sometimes love multiplies in unexpected ways.
While waiting for the chance to be the one to sweep Kagome off her feet while the well keeps her away, Koga and Inuyasha find that they have more than their feelings for Kagome in common.
They find peace, they find connection, they find love, but neither one gives up on having Kagome complete the last empty space in their hearts.
(Note: This story also counts towards Day 2: Friendship Day; Day 4: Submarine Ship Day; and Day 6: Convoy Day)
Dissonance (Shiori/Souten; M; ongoing) by @witchygirl99
In a world on the brink of an all-out magical war, Shiori finds her salvation in a married couple who care for her far too quickly, and in a young female soldier who keeps climbing through windows to see her. Turns out, fate has something to do with it. Maybe even love, too.
Dog-Eared (Inuyasha/Sango; T; complete) by @moon-ion/thetroll (Ao3)
InuYasha's mate has just given birth and it's a time of change for everyone.
Don’t Go Blindly in the Dark (M; complete) by @shade-without-color/streamsofstoriesandcolour (Ao3)
A tale told of Shizu, disguised as Prince Isamu, lost in a foreign land and Miroku- a birdcatcher journeys through many trials and adventures to rescue Tsukuyomaru, from a cruel priest and his followers. However, to reach the paths of love and enlightenment, the trio must make their own choices that would change their destinies forevermore.
Adapted from The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte) by Mozart
Hojo’s Crush (Hojo/Inuyasha; G; complete) by @neutronstarchild
Hōjō has a crush. A giant crush. Someone who is mysterious and so hard to pin down. But who is it that Hōjō has been daydreaming about? On the fateful day of the school play, Hōjō realizes that he will never be able to go back. Princes are as much deserving of rescue as princesses, right?
Learning How to Lose You (Sango/Suikotsu; T; complete) by @classysassy9791
There were a few things Sango had learned over the past three years. She had figured out how to function on a precious thirty minutes of sleep, baby giggles were the sweetest sound on earth, and reading bedtime stories always led to adventures. But there was one lesson in her life that she knew she would never really master - learning how to lose him.
Souta’s Brave Confession of Love II (Souta/Shiori; G; complete) by @serial-doubters-club/hakomorebi (Ao3)
Souta has confessed his feelings to many girls before, but this one is different.
Talking it Through (Kohaku & Kikyō; G; complete) by AiyraOdessa (Ao3)
Kohaku needs to sort out his feelings. He shouldn't feel jealousy just because his sister seemed to like her travel companion, right?
Luckily Kikyou is there to help guide his thoughts.

Once more, go to sea once more [Read it on A03]
So another chapter for my huge Fleet Week tale, for @inu-mothership we would meet sirens with teeth so sharp that tore a sailor's heart, Florence Welch as death (You will see she/they, as they are my favourite to write) and of course a rocky start, in responding to Day 2 prompt: Meet-Ugly which is not my usual thing to do but I have fun writing Midoriko being so spunky and Kirinmaru just be a dumbass.
So enjoy this little tale, for now as the new updates I will do after Fleet week!

Ah, @neutronstarchild, thank you for gifting us with this lovely, sexy little story! Sometimes revenge is best served...not cold, but very, very spicy 🔥
So I did a thing. For this @inu-mothership Fleet Week, I decided I wanted to see what I had time to do and where the tide took me (yes the nautical pun was intentional), and for this, it became an exploration of a ship I've never done, one that I consider to be exceedingly sexy. So I give you the beautiful ladies who gave us our favorite boys, in an AU.
Mistress IzaKimi Enemies to Lovers
Summary: Sometimes the chickens come home to roost, and Izayoi can no longer look at her relationship with Tōga as something abstract, not when the statuesque perfection that is his wife InuKimi is standing at her door. But InuKimi is not there solely for a confrontation, she is there for something else too.
I hope you all enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!

OceanGate submersible development journey
The co-founder and former CEO of OceanGate testified during a hearing regarding the fatal implosion of its Titan submersible, stating that the company initially had no plans to construct its own submersibles.
Guillermo Sohnlein co-founded OceanGate in 2009 alongside Stockton Rush, who was among the five individuals who lost their lives in the tragic implosion during a deep-sea expedition to view the Titanic wreck in June 2023. Sohnlein departed from the company in 2013, well before OceanGate began its dives to the Titanic with the Titan, an experimental and unclassified vessel.
Sohnlein stated that “developing our own subs was not in the original plans” when they formed the company during their testimony on Monday during the U.S. Coast Guard’s two-week hearing on the collapse.
Their goal, he explained, was to build a fleet of deep-diving submersibles that could accommodate five individuals and descend to 6,000 meters. These submersibles would be available for rent. They wanted the subs to be able to operate off any ship, anywhere in the world, without needing a specific mothership or support vessel.
Sohnlein pointed out that the majority of commercial submersibles are now only able to function at 1,000 meters or fewer, which limits the depths to which ocean exploration may go.
“We aimed to change that,” Sohnlein stated. “Our goal was to provide humanity with greater access to the ocean, particularly the deep ocean, anything deeper than 1,000 meters.”
OceanGate shifts focus to constructing its own submersible using carbon fiber.
Sohnlein mentioned that they eventually came to the conclusion that building their own submersible was essential to achieving their business model.
“When we evaluated our business requirements—specifically the ability to transport five people to depths of 6,000 meters without a dedicated mothership and being deployable anywhere in the world—none of the existing sub builders could fulfill those criteria,” he explained.
“Additionally, when you considered the costs, it was going to be extremely prohibitive.”Read More-https://voiceofleaders.com/

Fleet Week - Day 2: Friendship day
Oh yeah! This is it, my kind of fic!
There are so many good friendships in the series, and I went with InuYasha & Sango. Because I'm a sucker for dog boy having to adjust to his friend being a mama.
As usual, shout out to @inu-mothership for the event, and @hanmajoerin for helping me make it better.
Kick
By then, Sango was used to having her stomach touched by everyone.
As her belly grew, so did the attention she received from everyone around her.
Miroku, who was already a very touchy husband, became even more so the minute she announced her suspicions 6 months previously. He managed to mostly control himself when they were in public, but as soon as they were alone, his hands would fly over to her stomach, trying to feel any and every movement happening inside. He didn’t give her a break, not even at night: he now slept exclusively with his arms around her middle, which sometimes got him an elbow on the ribs from time to time when Sango needed to move.
The children were by far the most openly excited, greeting her hands first everyday. Shippou assigned himself the duty of “baby monitor” ever since he was the first–and only–one to detect two heart beats, signaling the presence of twins, months ago. Everyday he would press his pointy ears to her belly and relay what he could hear, always proud of the job only he could do.
Kaede touched her periodically out of midwifery duty, and instructed Rin on how to do the same, and what to look for while doing it. The girl could barely contain her elation to be following through and learning so much with her first ever pregnancy, each lesson being punctuated by exclamations of wonder, some bouncing in place, and the occasional clapping.
Other villagers always arrived full of questions. The children surrounded her with touches, wanting to know when they would meet their new playmates, while the older women asked about how she was doing, gently placing their hands on her stomach and recalling their own past pregnancies.
Before their battle with Naraku ended, she would have avoided the interactions with scrutiny, she couldn’t deny it was enjoyable being the center of attention in this situation. Everyone seemed interested and excited about the babies.
Everyone, that is, except InuYasha.
He kept saying he wasn’t interested whenever she asked, but InuYasha had never been much of a good liar. Sango would catch his ears twitching and perking up whenever the subject of the babies came up, and he gave sideways glances whenever he thought nobody was paying attention. It was endearing how much her friend was genuinely attentive to the matter, and she truly wanted him to be part of it, but as long as he thought she was only asking on his behalf, he would dodge it, out of… embarrassment? If Kagome was here, she might be able to tell her why he acted this way. Sango wasn’t entirely sure as to why he kept depriving himself of the involvement he clearly wanted, but in the end, the reasons didn’t matter. She would find a way to include him one way or the other.
It finally happened on a late afternoon when they were alone: Sango was hanging the freshly washed laundry, and InuYasha was by her side.
“Just sit down and let me do it. Miroku shouldn’t let you work like this.”
“I’m pregnant, not armless. I can still handle laundry.”
He huffed, but didn’t move to take the basket out of Sango’s hands. He just watched as she worked until she laid the load down and moved to sit on a nearby rock to rest.
“See? You get tired too easily now.”
“As far as I know, getting a little tired from carrying these two around isn’t life threatening. I swear, I’d die of boredom if you had it your way.”
InuYasha huffed again, and quietly made his way to her side.
They sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, Sango choosing her next words carefully.
“They really seem to be moving a lot today,” she said with a sigh and a hand on her belly. “InuYasha… do you want to feel the babies?”
His face flushed.
“N-no. Why would I?”
Sango reached out to grab his nearest wrist. “It would mean a lot to me if you did,” she said, guiding his hand to her stomach.
InuYasha tried to squirm away as his palm made contact with the material of her clothes.
“I really don’t–holy shit was that a foot!?!”
Sango looked down, trying hard to contain her laughter at the genuine wonder of her friend feeling the babies for the first time. “Yes! Or a hand, I don’t know, they move too much.”
“Fuck… does it hurt?” he asked, moving both hands to her stomach, eyes wide like a child’s and glued to her, as if she could burst at any moment.
“Not really, unless they kick my ribs or something like that.”
“It’s so weird…”
“Super weird,” she nodded. “Houshi-sama says they’ll be born slayers since they’re already practicing their attacks.”
“Are they always like this?”
“Like what?”
“So kicky?”
She chuckled. “Not really, but they seem to react to some things. Like Houshi-sama’s voice. Kirara and Shippou seem to make them more active too. I guess they can sense the youki.”
InuYasha didn’t say anything for a while, pondering what Sango had just said.
“Do you think they’ll hate me?” He asked quietly, almost too quiet to hear.
Sango smiled.
“No. I think they already love you.”

We LIVE for fluff @mrfeenysmustache, and what wonderful fluff coming from this incredible OT3!
And Baby Makes Four
For @inu-mothership Fleetweek!
Wednesday May 24, Port- FLUFF!
last year for fleet week I wrote my first InuKogKag fic. This year I’m back with another, albeit much shorter, fluffy little InuKogKag tale. I did do a sketch this time tho!
I love them.
Summary: parenthood was not something they rushed into, but it was something they’d always belonged for.
————————————————
They’d wanted time with her.
A lot of time.
Three years waiting for her to return, wondering if she’d even be up for accepting them both together and being part of what they knew must be a strange but loving arrangement, Inuyasha and Koga had been in no hurry to have any children.
They did want snuggles though.
So much time they’d spent hidden away in the dens in a big heap of limbs and love, stroking and squeezing and snoozing in each other’s arms, filling Kagome up with so much confidence in this new dynamic and her equal place in their hearts.
She’d been skeptical, she wouldn’t lie, that someone wouldn’t end up being second place and left out, at least at some point, but the more time she spent with them, loving them, being loved by them, and watching them love each other…. Kagome realized this was always how they’d been meant to be.
When the time for having children had come around they all decided that there would be no “birth order.” They wouldn’t take turns fathering children, they would leave it up to fate and every child would be equally theirs regardless of how much yoki it possessed or if it smelled more wolfish or puppyish.
And Kagome simply sat and cried tears of love and joy as she watched her men animatedly talk about becoming fathers and who would be better at teaching them to hunt or fish or run or play.
Bangs stuck to her brow with lingering sweat and shrouded in fire rat, Kagome leaned into Koga’s strength as she caught her breath and tried to keep her weary eyes closed. He pressed his lips to the top of her head and whispered his pride into her hair as Inuyasha leaned into his other side.
He held up their new baby and marveled over how tiny, soft and fragile a life could be, in awe of her tiny blacks curls, her softly pointed ears, her round, rosy cheeks, exclaiming she looked and smelled just like her mother.
Inuyasha and Koga squabbled over her name, trying to find something that perfectly captured her beauty, her strength, her ferocity, and Kagome finally succumbed to sleep, secure in her spot in their den, in their family, blissfully happy, blissfully exhausted, blissfully in love with them and their new, perfect daughter.

Connect the Dots
Part 4
Final part of my first InuKogKag fic (I’m already working on a plot for a new one lmao) written for @inu-mothership’s fleet week!!
Today’s theme, Convoy, is for Poly Ships!! Perfect excuse to write some established InuKogKag fluff and fun!
Summary: Sometimes love multiplies in unexpected ways. While waiting for the chance to be the one to sweep Kagome off her feet while the well keeps her away, Koga and Inuyasha find that they have more than their feelings for Kagome in common. The find peace, they find connection, they find love, but neither one gives up on having Kagome complete the last empty space in their hearts.
Read on: AO3
——————Preview——————
The shrill ringing of a cellphone cut through the peace of deep sleep like a finely sharpened blade, and Kagome’s eyes popped wide open.
She heard Koga curse and fall out of bed in a scramble to silence his phone.
How Inuyasha was still sleeping was a mystery to her.
“What the fuck do you two idiots want?!” Koga whispered harshly into the phone speaker, and Kagome could just barely make out the muffled voices on the other end.
“What could you possibly need me for at 6:30 in the goddamn morning? You what?” Koga sighed deeply and then stood up from where he’d been sitting on the side of the bed. “Alright fine. I’ll be there in a minute just… don’t touch anything.”
Kagome kept her eyes closed to try and keep herself from waking up too much, determined to go back to sleep when Koga left. She tracked his movements around their bedroom by the sounds he made, first stopping at the dresser to find some pants to slip on, and then to the bathroom to put his hair up. He swept back into the bedroom and paused to drop kisses on both her and Inuyasha’s foreheads. Inuyasha didn’t even flinch, but Kagome turned her face toward him, and he kissed her lips several times until she smiled sleepily and curled back up in Inuyasha’s side.

Fleet Week – Day 1: New (to You) Ship Day
My new to me ship for @inu-mothership: Kohaku & Kikyou (because nobody said the ship couldn't be platonic)
I think a lot about how Kikyou helped Kohaku heal a little bit from his trauma. And I like the idea she might have done it not only with her spiritual power, but by just talking to him, helping him sort out his feelings (a feudal talk therapy, if you will).
This is a very minor issue considering the whole context, but yeah, Kohaku is a kid, of course he might feel a little jealous of his sister.
As usual, thank you to @hanmajoerin for being the greatest editor!
Talking it Through
"Something is bothering you."
It wasn’t a question. Kikyou rarely posed questions, Kohaku noticed. She was always very sure.
“Just thinking about my sister.”
Kikyou didn’t move or say anything. She kept looking at him with the same neutrality in her face. Kohaku took it as an invitation to elaborate.
“She seems very fond of that mon– Houshi-sama,” he caught himself. He didn’t want to sound rude in front of the priestess. “I meanshe seemed very worried about him when he got hurt, that’s all.”
“Is that really all?”
“Yes. I mean, I won’t be here much longer, so it’s good that my sister has other people with her, right? They all seem to care about her, too. And… uhm…we should finish this quickly and kill Naraku, so she doesn’t have to worry about the m–Houshi-sama anymore?”
He didn’t mean it to make it sound like a question. Gods, he felt dumb.
Kikyou nodded slightly, either in agreement or to probe him onward. Kikyou was always certain; Kohaku on the other hand had trouble pinpointing where her certainty belonged at times.
“Then why does it bother you?”
“It doesn’t! I was just thinking…”
Kikyou kept staring at the boy, as if searching for something within him. It was a piercing, uncomfortable glance that made Kohaku wonder what she was seeing and how it could make him talk. Kohaku opted to keep talking for the time, it was less awkward than the silence.
“Do you think she’s going to marry him?”
Kikyou pondered. “Perhaps. As you said, they seem fond of each other, and I don’t see any impediments that would keep her from doing so.”
Kohaku looked at the ground.
“Is this what is bothering you? The perspective of your sister getting married?”
“No! I mean— she should, I know, but— it’s just that—”
Turning this into a conversation was a mistake, it just made everything look stupid. He felt stupid. Kikyou for sure was thinking about how stupid he sounded too.
Kohaku took a deep breath.
"I never really thought about it. That she would get married and have another family and leave us–me–behind."
Something shone in Kikyou's eyes, though her expression remained stoic like it always did. Was it amusement?
"That was bound to happen eventually, regardless of Naraku's interference. Your father must have discussed this issue as she approached marriage age."
"He didn't." Kikyou looked unconvinced. "Well, maybe he did, but not to me at least."
Kohaku kicked a pebble while he organized his thoughts. Why did it bother him so much now? The priestess was right, of course Sango would get married some day and have a family of her own, it was only natural.
"I think… before it didn't bother me because back home she’d probably just marry someone in the village and… she wouldn't be taken away from me."
The gleam in Kikyou's eyes shone brighter as she cracked a small smile. It didn’t feel like amusement, maybe it could be compassion. She let the silence linger between them as if to give the boy time to take in what had just been said before continuing.
"I wonder if your sister feels the same way about me. That I'm taking away her place as a sister in your heart."
"But she couldn't!" He protested. "You could never take her place, my sister is my sister no matter what. Kikyou-sama has her own place and so does Ane-ue."
"Well. I guess you have your answer,” Kikyou finished, looking at him kindly. And then, for the first time since Kohaku had been brought back to life, he felt it. The warmth of her smile reaching his heart. Letting him know that even though he was a soldier ready for his final sacrifice, even though both of them knew they wouldn’t make it out alive from their quest, he was alive right now.
Kohaku nodded and watched the priestess begin to walk again, resuming their journey. Somehow he felt lighter. Something got sorted inside his chest, even if it didn't put away the agony completely.
When they stopped that night, Kohaku slept a little bit easier.
