I like how leverage has a genius character and an autistic character but the autistic character isn't the genius character. the genius is a 22 year old black man with adhd who becomes an expert in anything you give him within 24 hours and the autistic character is a white woman who jumps off buildings for fun and once stabbed a man with a fork because he encroached on her personal space and sense of moral conduct

once again i am so in love with the way that leverage treats parker. because oh boy, the grave danger job. hardison is buried alive, he's freaking out on the phone, and parker feels like she can't help him, she's not good with emotions in this way, not like sophie, so she says that hardison needs sophie. but sophie knows that what hardison needs is to hear parker's voice, that whatever is going on with those two, parker is the person who will be most reassuring for hardison right now, but she also knows parker won't be convinced by that, and she needs parker to feel confident. so she speaks parker's language. she gives parker a reason for why parker is the best person for this job - not he loves you, not you love him, not even he just needs to hear your voice it doesn't matter what you say, none of that will land with her. sophie says, parker, you've spent more time in air ducts than anyone. if anyone knows how to hold their breath it's you. that's what hardison needs right now. she gives parker a job: help hardison breathe. she doesn't try to push parker, she doesn't make it into some more profound thing that parker might not be ready to hear or able to understand at that moment; she takes stock of the situation and knows (1) hardison needs to hear parker's voice right now and (2) parker needs to feel confident and useful right now and she feeds them the answer, because she loves them exactly how they are. i can't put it into words any better than this but i just love that over and over leverage says "you can be loved and love in return without trying to be different than you are" and never more than with parker.

I love the Leverage episodes where they're truly just psychologically tormenting a guy.
Like obviously they first establish that the guy is a terrible guy who does terrible guy things. And we really do need the terrible guy to be doing a lot of terrible guy things because this is kinda an ethical nightmare, but don't worry, they are reliably doing a lot of terrible guy things.
But then it is just like "hey, let's convince this guy that he's made first contact with aliens and also that aliens are trying to kill him" or "hey, let's make this guy believe he's contracted a deadly disease and is going to die in quarantine because medical staff are abandoning him" or "hey, let's first try to persuade this journalist that the government is secretly creating Guantanamo Bay 2: Underground Boogaloo in your backyards and when she doesn't run with that story, let's then make her think that oops the government accidentally leaked some kind of bioweapon into the waterways and now water is gonna kill you instead."

DRAWTOBER #10 - don't let the madness change us by stardustandswimmingpools
“Parker,” Eliot hisses at the ceiling vent, “what the fuck?" Aw, shit. “Aw, shit.” Hardison grimaces, rubbing his head. In the…excitement of the night, he completely forgot about Parker. “Parker, why are you in the ceiling?” There's a long pause. “I don't understand the question,” Parker says.
this is essentially relationship negotiation: the fic, but it's also a lot more fun and cute and lovely than that sounds! Hardison and Eliot have a conversation trying to figure out what spending time together in the bedroom means for them, and uh. also Parker is there. in the ceiling. because of course she is.

I forgot how hilarious The Juror #6 job is. The episode opens with Nate trying to socialize his crime daughter by having her do civil service. "There is not some evil conspiracy lurking behind the curtain of every routine civic activity." *four minutes later* "Uh, apparently there is an evil conspiracy lurking behind the curtain of every routine civic activity." Brent Spiner plays a hippie spiritualist pharmacist. We have to get Parker from thinking hiding knives in food is a good prank to having her charm an entire room of people. The kids leave for the day and Nate and Sophie line up at the door; they hand Hardison his briefcase, Parker her sacked lunch, and they present Eliot with the exciting news that today is the day he is going to be hit with a car.

One of the things I love about Leverage is their commitment to continuity, especially when it comes to the characters’ relationships with each other.
Like for example, I just watched the Underground Job and at one point Hardison tries to get Eliot to high five him, which pisses Eliot off (because of course it does) until Hardison says it’s “for morale”, which is a callback to a bit Eliot did a few episodes earlier. And the camera specifically follows Eliot so we see his reaction change from grumpy and annoyed to “oh haha I see what you did there”
And we see it totally go over Nate’s head because he wasn’t there! It’s an inside joke! Because sure, they bicker all the time, but they’re still friends!
There’s other examples too that have more to do with the job. Like Hardison will mention the security system they’re up against is the same one developed by one of the bad guys from last season. Or Parker will bring up a diamond she stole that we last saw 15 episodes and promptly forgot about - because of course she still has it, why wouldn’t she? Idk, I feel like a lot of shows, especially villain-of-the-week style shows, often just ignore continuity because…they can. And they assume the average viewer won’t notice/care. But *I* notice. I just really appreciate the level of detail and care Leverage has for the characters and the audience

It boggles my mind thinking about how good Eliot is at reading body language. I mean, just remembering that post about the moment in Nigerian Job where Eliot knocks Hardison's legs out of the way but steps gracefully over Parker's legs and how that was telegraphing "I'm safe to be around" to both of them in their own body languages, and there's a similar moment in The Tap-Out Job right before Eliot shows his knowledge of boxing by having Parker and Hardison spar while he coaches them:
Eliot: Let me show you something. (slapping Hardison on the shoulder) Hardison, come here.
Eliot: (guides Parker into position with a hand to the waist) Can I borrow you for a second?
I mean this is exactly the same thing. Hardison he can tussle with and frequently does to show he can pull his punches (both verbally and physically) but Parker hasn't reached play-fighting stage just yet so he's still gentle side first with her. They've obviously progressed to a level of closeness where Eliot feels comfortable guiding Parker, teaching her, and also feels comfortable that she'll go along with his demonstration, but he still asks. It's the kind of perfunctory ask where you're sure the answer is yes, but it's still an ask. It's just a beautiful little moment and I love it.

the grave danger job is so crazy like yes nate and sophie are worried but eliot and parker are more worried. parker’s frantic. she can’t bring herself to tell him she loves him but she calls him alec. eliot’s tearing through goons with more rage than god. they finally pull him out of the coffin, parker’s in tears. eliot, eliot pulls hardison into a hug. “dont do that again,” he says. anyways my point is its a top ot3 episode
