Mount Rainier National Park Archives Photos of the Paradise Inn exterior in 1940-41 (top) and NPS Photo of the Paradise Inn in 2018.
The Paradise Inn was built in 1917 by the Rainier National Park Company concessionaire. While built of wood and stone similar to other NPS rustic-style buildings found in the park, the Paradise Inn is more “whimsical” in design and meant to be reminiscent of European alpine resort architecture. The Paradise Inn is part of the Mount Rainier National Historic Landmark District but is also independently designated a National Historic Landmark for its architectural style.
One of the popular features of the Paradise Inn are the lanterns in the lobby painted with wildflowers. When the inn first opened, it had Japanese lanterns in the lobby, as seen in this 1919 photo of the interior:

The first lampshades featuring wildflowers were added in the 1930s, mostly painted by the wives of rangers at the time, and the current lampshades were painted by retired Chief Naturalist Dale Thompson in 1989.

Have you visited the Paradise Inn during the summer and viewed the wildflower lanterns in the lobby?

Paradise Bar and Grill on Pensacola Beach. It's a hotel! It's a nightclub! It's two in one! and it's on the beach at about half the price of the major hotels.

Mount Rainier & the Paradise Inn
Fifty two years on this planet. I decided to celebrate my birthday in the State where I was born, Washington. I drive up to the Paradise Inn located at the base of Mount Rainier. Autumn is in full swing as the mountain meadows are turning colors and a slight nip is in the air. Before I even check into my room I hit the main trail towards the mighty mountain. Epic vistas and a stunning waterfall…

Here's the deleted reblog I mentioned earlier by the way, because I still think GLITCH should address this. It was in response to basically "Joking about MD ending isn't funny we're always scared of that"
Tumblr media
Adding onto this:
Just because a series ends doesn't mean the fandom will immediately die or that the creators won't ever make other content like memes and behind the scenes and merch and ARGs.
Undetale was one game and will stay one game; Toby and Fangamer are always making new things for it, and will likely continue doing so for a long time.
Avatar: The Last Airbender was one show, but they made a sequel series. A MOVIE. A live-action series. The fandom is still active and talking about ships for the original!
If Murder Drones finishes as a series, that's okay. Because it won't truly end. We'll be showing our kids this show, just like our parents did with their favorite shows!
So it's okay.
It's okay to call it a finale. A finale isn't an end.
This goes for any series, fandom, comic, book series, or game.
A finale isn't an end.

Other than John Margolies 1987 photo of the Candy Motel, there is very little information online about its history. The 1963 Sherriff's Review, published by the Fresno County Sheriff's Office identifies the Candy’s address as 1485 N Motel Drive and a 2001 listing states that it was built in 1950 with 16 rooms. Sometime after the 80s, the Candy Motel became the Paradise Inn Motel. It was demolished in 2015. Located in Fresno, California.

Mount Rainier National Park Archives Photos of the Sunrise South Blockhouse (part of the stockade group) in 1930.
May is National Historic Preservation Month, when we celebrate the places that preserve a piece of our shared history. Mount Rainier National Park was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1997 as no other park has preserved as much of an intact example of early park planning as Mount Rainier. Beginning in the late 1920s, the master plan for Mount Rainier was the first and most complete national park master plan to be developed and implemented in the National Park Service. The park was treated as a synthetic whole – not a group of fragmented locations – and this consistent design can still be seen in the buildings, roads, bridges, trails, and developed areas.

Mount Rainier National Park is also home to five buildings that are independently designated National Historic Landmarks: the Longmire Administration Building, Longmire Community Building, Longmire Service Station, Paradise Inn, and Yakima Park Stockade Group (home to the Sunrise Visitor Center). Each of these represent unique examples of early park architecture. Have you visited all five buildings?

Arrived at Pensacola Beach and stayed at the Paradise Inn. Did you know you can buy a non-alcoholic Bushwacker? I didn't.

Note
how was mt rainier!!! I live in the area but haven’t been to the park in a while.
It was so good!!! I am hot all the time always so I was a fan of a crisp 50° + snow drifts in mid-June. And the mountain was beautiful, I was so happy we were able see it! We got there well after dark (horror movie vibes drive up the mountain) and the morning was very misty, but we got a great view that afternoon!
We saw some great wildflowers too, a very cute black tail buck and what I think was a hoary marmot (unclear). No elk or bears though :(
