This week brought fresh snow to Mount Rainier, including to subalpine areas like Paradise. Some fall foliage still lingers in the meadows, and low elevation forests are brightened by a mix of yellow-orange vine maples, devil’s club, vanilla leaf, and other plants whose leaves are turning. Remember conditions on the mountain can change quickly! When planning a visit, always check weather forecasts, bring the 10 essentials (including food, water, and warm clothing), and know how to navigate if you encounter snow-covered trails at higher elevations.
