So when I turned 18 I was watching a show and just stopped and realized shit I am either the same age or older than most protagonists. Like what do I do with that. And it’s only going to get worse the more I age. This is the weirdest way to think about aging like yeah my fav character is 16 in this made up story and I used to be the same age as them and then suddenly I was 2 years older. It’s just weird to think about how they helped me get through that age and now I’ve moved on and they’re just chilling eternally young (like Peter Pan but unaware)

(oh and by the way I'm going into more depth on Hermes than Ganymede because well nobody ever made legends about Ganymede)

Hermes you know him, you love,him. The god of trickery, sherparding, lairs, thieves, roads, boundaries, travelers, trade, and merchants. Born in Arcadia (The same place as Pan. THIS IS IMPORTANT) and is often recognized as the 2nd youngest god with Dionysus being the youngest since he took Hestia's spot. When he was 1 day old he was tired of his mother and him living in a cave and not being respected so he just walks out. Bro really just said fuck it I'm out. So with this new found freedom what does this god do you may be asking? Well duh he turns a tortoise into a lyre. DUH. Then he get's just a little hungry and eat like a BUNCH of Apollo's cows and sacrifices the meat to the gods. Apollo is then rightfully mad and brings the still one day old Hermes to Olympus in front of Zeus ( I don't think I've mentioned this but Zeus is in fact Hermes' dad ) And Apollo's basically saying "BUT DAD! This killed me COWS!" And Zeus is like, "Ok... and? Nobody gives a shit about your Cows" So Zeus tells Apollo to bring him back to Arcadia and Apollo's like 'Ok whatever'. And on the way there Hermes plays a song on his lyre and Apollo's like "Woah. Dude you're great at that" So Hermes gives Apollo the lyre and Apollo gives Hermes his caduceus. You know that one staff with snakes on it that represents peace and stuff.

Ok so earlier I mentioned that Pan would be important to Hermes right? So yeah I did in fact say that...so why is this god of nature so important to Hermes anyway? Well you see Pan is actually a very old god, considered even older than the Olympians themselves. So I'll cut this down a lot and talk like a brain rot gen z. Ok so basically Pan wasn't very marketable, I mean duh he kind of just was a goat, who the fuck simps for THAT!? Any way along they way they split him into to different gods, new Pan which was the one most of you guys know and Hermes who took all that good stuff from Pan and because widely popular in Greece. So yeah cool history fact for you there.

not me thinking about an au so dastardly where nathan does take over arcadia bay, pan estates fully becomes realized (as we see it does pretty fast if joyce is working there in the alt timeline with william alive, so there's some delay in the main timeline we're seeing that's stagnating things a bit), and he does become the heir his dad wants him to be. he is taking over (essentially) two businesses here: the one we see and the family business. nathan arguably has to shape up a lot for this to happen, a lot has to change, but the concept is interesting: what would he even do now with all that power? his dad is either a) dead (as i am thinking might be something sean is worried about by how he's frantically trying to get nathan to "become ready" and how it's all "sooner than we think") or b) in a position of running as nathan's investor, essentially, while allowing nathan access to the family resources more openly (but tightly).
