❛ why is this so important to you ? ❜ olivia to bobby
mischiefxmanagcd
Where exactly it was that Olivia had found the ring Bobby couldn’t be sure, but the mere sight of it brought back a flood of memories he hadn't thought about in years. He and the original owner of that particular piece of jewelry had been through hell and back together mutiple times and would forever be a part of each other's hearts, despite the fact that they hadn't been a part of each other's lives in decades. He'd gotten over her and put everything behind him a long time ago, but she still preyed upon his mind every now and then when he least expected it.
"It belonged to Christopher's mother." Bobby never really spoke of Pam much, so he couldn't blame Olivia for not knowing the ring was much more valuable than just another bracelet or necklace she could wear to a party or social event the family attended. "I've been saving it for him to give to his own wife one day, if he wants to."
#wow now i miss bobby and pam.#why do i hurt myself this way?#x.| bobby ewing ( main verse )#mischiefxmanagcd

The 1980 Dallas RPG was a Soap Opera Wargame?
In 1980, SPI, a company known for its wargames did a strange thing and published an RPG based on the Dallas tv show. If you don't know anything about the tv show, don't worry, I will protect you. It's too late for me though. You go on ahead. Basically, it was a hit TV show of big money family feuding. Imagine Succession but it was written in the 1980s and instead of TV news, it was an oil company. Unlike the show, the RPG wasn't a hit. The art director of the game famously wrote that they printed 80,000 copies and that was 79,999 more than people wanted. That one person seemed to be this person's grandma who bought it for him to save his soul from D&D/Satan.
What is this game though? Well, James F Dunnigan, founder of SPI and designer of legendary wargame, Panzerblitz, seems to have applied his analytical mind to the internecine squabbles of Dallas and decided that, if you think about it, petty family drama isn't so different from CIA covert ops. And he was right.
As you'd expect from a wargame, the rules are dry and clinical to a fault. You start by picking one of the 9 characters from the show - JR, Jock, Sue Ellen, Pam, etc. They all have stats like Persuasion, Coercion, Seduction. And these stats have attack/defend values. For example, JR has a Coercion of 24 because he's a real jerk. Sue Ellen has a Seduction resist of 18, but it's 20 against JR, because again, he seems to have been a real jerk. This game genuinely went out of its way to make sure you know JR's wife really really doesn't want to go near him.
Each character starts the session ("episode") with a secret story-based objective. Jock wants to run an angry former employee out of town, JR wants to cheat an Arab oil magnate out of 100 million dollars, Sue Ellen wants to do a favour for an old boyfriend. Yeah, what can I say? Some of these objectives feel more important than others. Regardless, you achieve these objectives by controlling 4 or more specific minor characters and organisations by the end of the game. For example, to enact his 100 million dollar plan, JR has to control the Ewing Oil Company, Mustafa Quattara, Professor Bayard, the reporter Mary Cleef, and so on. But characters' objective overlap so Pam also wants Mustafa Quattara and Jock also wants Professor Bayard. These conflicting goals means players need to scheme, negotiate and attack each other so they can win.
The sessions play out in five rounds. Each round, the GM sets the scene. Then, the players can negotiate and make deals. Then, we enter the conflict phase where each player makes three moves - either trying to gain control of uncontrolled NPCs, or attacking another player to steal an NPC from under them, or protecting their own NPCs. And the game throws in little curveballs every round: Oops, some of JR's drinking buddies are in town and he can't say no to them, so his character is out of this round. Hopefully the player has some NPCs that they can use to act instead. Oops, Mustafa Quattara is being chased by assassins. Whoever controls his card has to give it up as he disappears for a bit and comes back uncontrolled. The end result is somewhere in between Vampire the Masquerade (or rather, Undying) and Blood on the Clocktower.
Sure, the math is dense (you roll 2d6 under the difference between the attack value and the defense value, plus or minus any currency spent). Sure, it takes 9 players to really sing. Sure, multiple people can complete their objective so you need to track victory points separately to decide the real winner. Sure, you have to take the homophobia out of the Seduction rules. Sure, roleplaying is completely optional. Sure, sure, sure. The game is a mess. But it's a very playable mess. I'd go so far as to say it's an electric mess. It's shockingly (sorry) fun to play. I think the secret lies in a very clear agenda for the players, a tight boardgame-like action economy, a premise that supports hilarious degrees of pettiness, and an inter-personal experience that demands everyone pay attention to what their friends are doing.
So. Am I planning a full 9 person play-by-post game of this? Yes. Am I thinking of changing the setting and the math? Yes. Is that basically designing a new game? Yes. Should this game be labelled "Powered by Dallas" or, as one of my players suggested, "Hornswoggled by Dallas"? YES.

Happy Sunday! Tomorrow, (October 7th) the beloved podcast “Truest Blood” comes back! Kristin Bauer (Pam) and Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica) will be hosting again and talking through seasons 5 & 6 of @truebloodhbo. This is the official podcast of the show. In their new promo from last week, they said they will be talking to Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse), Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux) and our favorite, Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman). At the end of the season 4 podcast they also said they would be talking to Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur) and Janina Gavankar (Luna Garza).
They haven’t announced which guest they will be starting with so we don’t know who they will be starting out with. It’s always a fabulous podcast though - each one is a gift to any Truebie. Season 5 (originally aired in 2012) is when we got the back-to-back flashbacks of Eric & Pam’s meeting and maker stories (episodes 5.02 and 5.03). Season 6 ended in a major cliffhanger for Eric. I. CANNOT. WAIT.
Photos from HBO & Entertainment Weekly. The cast were on 11 different covers of EW in 2012 and were shot by Alexei Hay. The rest are mostly my screen caps from seasons 5 & 6, although there are a few stills by John P. Johnson and Lacey Terrell. I’m not sure who shot the character posters for Season 5. This was the last year they did them.

Nona the Ninth Reaction - Chapter 28
‘golden eyes like a dead animal’s’ you are sick and twisted Tamsyn Muir, sick and twisted (affectionate). also that is an interesting description of Kiriona's eyes. of course part of it is that she is quite literally in a dead body, but these are also the eyes that John got after he gained his necromantic powers
ohhhh my god. i don’t think my heart can take Kiriona asking after Harrow. she gave up her life for her, did the best she could to take care of Harrow’s body, and now she doesn’t even know if Harrow’s alive or not
oof both Pyrrha and Nona clearly know that she’s Alecto, but Nona really doesn’t want to remember. i wonder how long exactly Pyrrha knew who Nona was, even if she was hoping she was Gideon, i feel like part of her must have suspected since the beginning
hmm i wonder if there’s something significant about Alecto’s name? not in terms of its Doylist meaning i.e. being named after one of the Furies, but in universe. here Nona doesn’t want Pyrrha to say her name because it will make her remember, John (from what i recall) only ever used nicknames like A.L. and Annabel Lee etc. when talking to Harrow, and both he and the other Lyctors had a remarkably strong reaction to Mercy using it at the end of HtN:
'A ripple of ice over the face. A hardening of the mouth. He said quietly, “Don’t call her-” “Alecto! Alecto! Alecto!” repeated Mercy shrilly. The other Lyctors flinched each time she said it, as though it were an aural stab’
oh wow, Alecto’s consciousness (voice?) rising up to speak from Nona is very disturbing. once again, Alecto doesn’t seem like the nicest person. which makes sense i suppose given she is in actuality a Resurrection Beast herself and seemingly very pissed off about the whole ‘killing humanity and putting her in a human form’ thing
‘astonishingly, Pash, helping an extremely feeble and aged person’ i mean good on Pash for helping the elderly, i guess?
it’s gotta be so strange for Palamedes’ mother and the other people in the Sixth to be dealing with the ‘i’m dead and in Naberius Tern’s also dead body’ thing. it can hardly be what they imagined when he and Camilla went off to the First in GtN. speaking of, i do still wonder how everyone’s family members, the Cohort etc. reacted to the news of basically everyone dying after going off to try and be Lyctors
‘Palamedes was acting as though he were a tiny at show-and-tell’ is that not how Palamedes always acts about everything
Pyrrha Dve queen of ill-advised romantic relationships. poor her, she’s lost basically everyone she cared about before (G1deon, Wake, and now Pal and Cam, Nona is dying) now as a result of Lyctorhood to some degree
oh why does everything they’re saying here feel like a goddamn funeral, i categorically don’t like this
'something white and grey and powdery [...] Camilla [...] - to Nona's horror - ate it' i’m assuming that’s Palamedes’ skull goop making a reappearance. ew
ohhh wow this is a lot worse than i thought it was going to be, they’ve actually just straight up merged themselves into a single person. i suspected the whole Camilla-and-Palamedes thing was going to come back but not like this. it’s not like they had a lot of choices, and i mean i guess it’s better on an emotional level than one of them dying and the other having to live with it, but still, yikes
wdym i am categorically not crying about the fact that Kiriona is apparently totally disinterested in this whole situation, but her first instinct is still to want to hand over her jacket to … Cam/Pal. (Pam?)
listen i get what Palamedes is trying to do here, encouraging Ianthe to accept Lyctorhood as a mutual loss & rebirth rather than a sole sacrifice of the cavalier, but quite frankly i think poor Naberius would like being merged into a single person with Ianthe even less than being murdered

"I was trying to lose weight and I still felt I didn't lose enough weight," Stan tells EW ahead of the series [Pam &Tommy] finale. "And people were telling me I was crazy and going, 'You have body dysmorphia now' — which I always did anyway." Sebastian Stan Entertainment Weekly (2022)
"And I think I was like really overweight when I was in ninth grade high school. People were telling me if Leonardo DiCaprio was to ever get fat I was probably what he would look like." Sebastian Stan Australian Magazine (2009)
Some people are seeing that pic and posting things. And I'd just like you to see these quotes with that picture first.

Sebastian Stan describes the 'big reactions' from New Yorkers over his A Different Man transformation: 'I was terrified'
The actor and makeup artist extraordinaire Mike Marino unpack Stan's dramatic prosthetics turn.
By Nick Romano
Sebastian Stan was so determined to work with Oscar-nominated makeup artist Mike Marino on his film A Different Man that the actor was willing to undergo a social and professional experiment.
As Edward, the 42-year-old Marvel star would play an aspiring actor with neurofibromatosis, or NF1 for short, who undergoes an experimental procedure that radically changes his face, only to then emotionally spiral out of control when he loses the part he was born to play to Oswald (Adam Pearson), someone with NF1 who lives a much fuller life than Edward ever led, pre- or post-procedure. Stan needed the man who made Colin Farrell unrecognizable as Oz Cobb for The Batman and HBO’s The Penguin to pull off such a feat.
Since Marino was already busy on Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Stan walked the few blocks from his apartment in New York City’s SoHo district to Marino’s home every morning around 4 or 5 a.m. “Then you just wait till they're ready for you on set,” Marino remembers saying to him. On some of those days, Stan would kill time by wandering Manhattan in full makeup until his call time. “I walked up and down Broadway, basically,” Stan, sitting in the New York offices of studio A24, tells Entertainment Weekly. “It was a busy street. I was terrified, but I would just go get a coffee or sit.”
Sebastian Stan is unrecognizable as an actor with facial deformity in trailer for A Different Man
Stan doesn’t consider himself to be a physical actor, and yet his body of work might suggest differently. Even when the costume shoulders the bulk of the transformation, such as playing Tommy Lee in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy, his body language molds to match the look. That skill is especially prominent in A Different Man (playing now in limited release). “Even alone, being able to only look out of one eye and then having one ear more covered immediately changes a lot,” he says of Marino's makeup effects. “It changes how you stand. It changes how far away you are from people, how you look at people. I felt oddly on my back foot more. It's a defensive reaction because you want to be prepared in case something's coming, that you have enough time to react.”
“What we get is such an incredibly passionate, skilled actor that can hide within a true character,” Marino tells EW in a separate conversation on Zoom from his SoHo apartment, part of which serves as the mini studio where Stan’s makeup application occurred. “He would actually now have a chance to live with people's reactions and how they were treating him.”

That experience informed Stan’s entire performance, and it became important for him to do so, even outside of the mornings' wait time. He would often stroll away from set on the Upper West Side in between breaks or setups. “New York is pretty evolved in a lot of ways, but I still got some big reactions from people,” he recalls. “Like, ‘Oh s---!’ ‘Oh f---!’ ‘Look at that!’ It was scary to experience. It was hard to experience. I felt powerless in those situations in some way. And, I guess, a lot of that is how Edward feels in the film.”
Sebastian Stan transforms in the discomforting drama A Different Man
Other reactions were less intense, but equally informative. While standing at a stoplight, for instance, Stan noticed the difference between those pedestrians avoiding eye contact completely, compared to those trying to discreetly steal a look or offer him a forced smile — all bystander reactions that director Aaron Schimberg incorporates into the movie. "I don't think it always comes from a bad place," he says. "Sometimes people just want to connect or feel okay. It's actually about their own experience. It's not even about you. It's like they're in that moment feeling something that's funny to them and they're trying to deal with it. They don't know how."
Marino wanted to be involved with A Different Man thanks to his love of the 1980 film The Elephant Man, loosely based on the life of Joseph Merrick, who lived with a facial disfigurement. As a 5-year-old, the movie scared Marino. But as he fell in love with the art of makeup transformations on screen, he came to see it for what it was: "a beautiful" and "touching story," he describes. "That really made an indelible mark on my life."
He would need that motivation for the obstacles that Stan's look on A Different Man prompted. "There were many technical challenges," he recalls. "It is very difficult to do makeup that thick where they have very thick areas. So I had to really balance what was too big, what was too small. I still need the movement of Sebastian to come through. I still need his own face to drive the makeup and not have it look purely like a mask. I studied Adam's photos. I really analyzed him and tried to balance how I can make it work for Sebastian."
Sebastian Stan calls out journalist who refers to his new character with disfigurement as a 'beast'
Stan has another transformative part coming out soon, the buzzed-about and already-controversial performance of young Donald Trump in The Apprentice. Because he's now promoting both that film and A Different Man simultaneously, it's been interesting for him to think about the ways in which he approached both jobs.
"I've been finding strange parallels that I never really thought about," he remarks. "There's some similar themes being explored in terms of truth, self abandonment, denial of reality to some extent. I think these last couple of roles have required a different degree of physicality. One, obviously, is specific, a real person. But I think about that, of course. You have to, because everyone walks differently and everyone carries things in their body differently. Sometimes you gain access in a different way to things by simply changing a physical aspect of yourself."
The greatest compliment he received for that kind of work on A Different Man, even more than the glowing praise he's seen from the critics, came from Pearson's mother. "After she saw the film, she was like, 'All I ever wanted was for someone to walk in his shoes for one day, to know what it's like, and you were able to do that,'" Stan remembers of their exchange. "I came close to that, I guess, in a way, to feel that kind of invasiveness that he probably felt at some point in his life, walking around."

Can you do a Pam Miller from Totally Killer x Fem reader? Please, I don't care what it is because I can't find anything on the movie.
Drunk Girls Kiss||
i'm so happy someone requested from this movie, i gotchu.
|| Pam Miller x fem!reader
|| Warnings: swearing, house party, underage drinking, short drabble
|| Summary: Reader is best friends with the Mollys, specifically Pam Miller. What happens when they drink a little too much at a house party?
Requests open!
Started: April 21st
Finished: April 21st
~~~
You were best friends with Pam Miller, you couldn't even remember how it all started but you've been friends with her, Tiffany, Heather and Marissa for years. Which meant you were definitely dragged along when they bullied people, you usually didn't make comments like they did.
Currently, the five of you were sitting at a table in the cafeteria. Just enjoying your lunch when that weird Jamie girl from "Prince Edward Island" walked over to your table.
"There you are! I've been looking all over for you!" She looked at Pam, you raised an eyebrow at her in confusion.
"Ew, gross no. Leave." Pam scoffed, folding her arms across her chest. Jamie didn't listen. She sat down next to you, you moved closer to Pam and side eyed the blonde. Pam made a face of disgust at her and her hand wrapped around your wrist, almost protectively.
You guys were close. You couldn't explain it, but you always felt as though there was more between you two. You didn't know if you were just imagining it though. You hoped not, because you wanted more.
"So what's everyone doing after school?" Jamie asked, you glanced at Pam. There was a house party happening, but you were sure she wouldn't tell Jamie that.
"Why the fuck do you care?" Pam narrowed her eyes at her, Jamie seemed almost hurt by it but you couldn't tell.
"Oh...! No reason, just uh... wondering." Jamie smiled awkwardly, you rolled your eyes. Ugh, Canadians.
This is funny to me because I'm Canadian.
"You can leave now." Pam says as she looks at you, you stared at her in confusion." Not you, her. I'm obviously ignoring her." She continued when she saw your confused look. You relaxed at that.
~~~
That night, at the party, you and Pam were hanging out on the couch. Both of you had a drink in your hands as you talked with each other. Smiling and laughing, drunk off your asses.
"Your smile is really pretty," Pam said suddenly, you looked at her and she was staring at you with a soft gaze. One so out of character that you were sure was brought on by the alcohol.
"Yeah?" You replied, leaning a little closer to her instinctively as your cheeks flushed. Your eyes went to your lips and hers went to yours.
"Yeah." She whispered back, taking your cup from your hand and setting it on the ground with her own. Her gaze never leaving you.
There was a pause before your lips met, feeling her soft lips move against your own as she laid back on the couch. You laid on top of her, hands rested on her waist as your eyes closed and you melted into each other.
You've wanted this for so long. You hoped your kiss told her that.
"What are you doing?! Mo- Pam!" You heard the familiar voice of Jamie shout, the two of you broke your kiss. Pam looking more annoyed than you as she looked at Jamie.
"Can you not? We're in the middle of something." Pam said.
"Absolutely not." Jamie shook her head and walked over, situating herself between the two of you. You were nearly shoved off the couch in the process, when Pam noticed she glared at Jamie.
"What the hell?!" She shouted.
Jamie looked at you with a look you couldn't understand.
"Sorry, but you'll thank me later." Jamie stated, looking at Pam.
Pam rolled her eyes and folded her arms across her chest. Glancing down at your two cups which had fallen over and spilled out when Jamie joined you. She sighed," Great. Y/N/N, can you go get us new drinks?"
"Yeah, of course." You grumbled, not wanting to be around Jamie as you stood and walked to the kitchen. Thankful to be away from her.
You opened the fridge door and grabbed out two cans (you can decide whatever those would be). Thinking about what had happened before Jamie interrupted, a small smile on your lips.
Part of you wondered if that was just a one off experience. Drunk girls kiss each other all the time, right?
You hoped that it could be more than just a drunk kiss. You'd make a mental note to talk about it with Pam in the morning, if you even remembered.
