Hi! So, I am writing this post to ask if anyone has any spare change that they can send today if possible or latest by tomorrow.
Context: I volunteer for a housing justice project in Karachi, Pakistan and have been for over two years, and we've been asking the government to resettle the displaced people from two main localities or give them proper monetary compensations. Neither of which have materialised despite the court orders. So the lawyers filed a contempt notice and now some government officials have been summoned.
The main hearing is tomorrow morning Pakistan time, but we need to get people whose homes have been demolished, there, and protest outside the Supreme Court, and for that we need funds.
Many or most of the people whose homes have been demolished are daily wage labourers who cannot afford to miss a day of work. Protesting and showing up outside the Supreme Court before and during the hearing is important because it puts pressure on the judges to rule favourably and is basically our own chance to get any sort of compensation from the government.
If anyone feels like throwing any spare cash that would be much appreciated. Please DM for bank account details. Reblogs or signal boosts would also be much appreciated. It's urgent and time sensitive, which is why I am even asking.
I have added two photos from our protest today where a lot of working class people whose homes have been demolished showed up to protest.
[ID: a group of people and young children outside the building of a Supreme Court. end ID]

Wait, what? Could you explain the M and India UK thing?
It all dials back to the Commonwealth and uk- india ties in terms of it. So, a little background - commonwealth was the second international organization/group joined by India after the UN. But the commonwealth was the first it joined as an independent sovereign state. Now at that time india was one of the first countries who put forth the demand that republics should also be able to join the CW and countries like them should not be expected to keep the monarch as the head of the state to be a condition for joining what is being called a voluntary organization. Because if they keep the monarch as the head of state, then the whole idea of independence from colonization loses its meaning. So the Indian leaders at that time put forth the demand that republics should be allowed in too, and these countries will be a part of the CW but no authority of the UK or the head of atate/monarch will extend to them. That was accepted because it was a fair demand and made sense. Hence, india joined the CW.
Even back then i.e post indepence in 1947 till the time of the london declaration in 1949, there was a lot of debate and controversy over the whole joining buisness and even then a large section of politicians and leaders were like this is stupid, why are we going back under their influence after having a 100 year long struggle to get out of it. But the then government including Jawaharlal Nehru (my fav Indian pm) who was his own foreign minister, were like India will need to have some sort of connection and some sort of ties with other nations internationally to make sure it can work in the global world. And even today, the Commonwealth forms the bedrock of india's contemporary relations with a number of African states and its dealings with canada, australia, etc.
JLN and his interim government agreed with the influence argument so they put forth the demand for the joining of republics with their own heads of states. It was agreed upon by the UK. But even after that, since india's independence a large section has been against the Commonwealth with the same arguments and people, intellectuals, politicians like shashi tharoor, the southern state CMs, some North Indian parties feel that India should leave the CW.
Now flash forward to the wedding in 2018, meghan came out wearing a veil embroidered with the national flowers of all the CW states, including guess which ones? The republics which are sovereign!!! Including - india (lotus), Pakistan (jasmine) and Bangladesh (water lily)
This thing was picked up by journalists and they ran with it on social media and in newspapers that the royals still think we are theirs. The whole of South Asian twitter was a mess, everyone was criticizing the UK, asking for the high commission to be summoned in front of parliamentary committes to see why they thought it was okay. In india politicians from both sides - the ruling bjp and the opposition parties jumped in. It basically became a f*ck CW, f*ck UK narrative. Now add to this the whole history of colonization and that makes it even worse.
The whole problem that people had with it was that, despite nearly 75 years of independence, UK still thinks we are theirs so why don't we kick them to the curb, we don't need the CW to have trade and other diplomatic ties with other states anymore. Pakistan, Bangladesh etc also had the same issues but it was the most amplified in india.
So in the official circles, for the first time, formal demands were being made that India should leave CW in 2018 because of that Givenchy wedding outfit and the attitude which it must have accompanied. It was always a thing in india, on the fringes of politics, to leave the CW as an agenda for some sections, but nobody ever took any initiative for it except making statements. The government didn't do it formally because let's be honest, 2018 was just a year off the next national elections and they had bigger fish to fry back then but I know it was pretty much a done deal as per the news coming out from 'sources' close to the cabinet, plans were being made. But it was sorted out later, a lot of it because bjp shares common ties with the Tories in the UK so they could smooth it over.

Hello everybody once again. Since my thoughts are still scattered all over the place, here's another rambling post to distract myself and feel hopefully a little bit better. Only this time....with OVA Hol Horse. Again, took these screenshots by myself when watching the OVA.
First of, a golden Emperor! Ain't that neat? Instead of silver like the anime Hol Horse, I think it's an interesting take for a gun. Oh, and let's not forget the "Yes sireeee!" that OVA Hol pulls off with his silly southern accent, it's something I've picked up on doing because of him lmao.
Again, wish to be Nena in this scenario because he just looks so...comforting, even with those stone-blue eyes. Being held gently...told that I'm great...that I'm doing the best I can in life...all I need to hear from a cowboy like him..
These scenes man...the shadows on OVA Hol's face on the first 2 screenshots...he looks funny, but menacing at the same time...and Avdol's death is drastically different in the OVA as well. Where instead of Hol Horse in Part 3 letting out a brief laugh, OVA Hol Horse REALLY goes wild on the laughter, he sounds like an insane and goofy cowboy and goes on for quite a while with it, as if he's real proud of what he's accomplished.
Oh man this scene too, it's so cool...having OVA Hol actually shoot DIO instead of what transpired in Part 3 with Hol and DIO is so...it's a nice change. Plus, the way Emperor is being summoned in the OVA, it's crazy...it looks like Emperor is ripping his flesh, it's almost painful to see, makes me wince a bit haha. And in the OVA, this was a dream that had occurred to OVA Hol. Poor guy...must've been hellish to endure.
Speaking of hellish, this scene always infuriates me somehow? It's just. The dude is LEFT to ROT in Pakistan, and the Crusaders VERY clearly see him there! The least they could've done is take him to the hospital, NOT leave him in the middle of nowhere to lay there dead on the ground! Ugh, and even worse...is that I felt like he at least could've joined the Crusaders after his hospital visit. Besides, Avdol in the OVA for SOME reason is just. Fine after getting stabbed in the back by The Hanged Man, and only had Emperor's bullet graze his forehead. Appears out of nowhere in the Justice Arc just a-okay. Sure, the Crusaders explain to OVA Polnareff about everything but still. Stuff don't make sense man. Missed potential..

Iran targets military bases in Pakistan, US base evacuates in Syria
Iran launched airstrikes in Pakistan, allegedly targeting a Sunni militant group, meanwhile the US military evacuated the Hemo base near the town of Qamishli following repeated attacks by Islamic resistance groups in Iraq, signalling an escalation in the Middle East.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry reported that two children were killed and three injured in an “illegal” airstrike. To protest the “unprovoked violation of its airspace,” the ministry summoned Tehran’s senior diplomat to Islamabad.
Iran reported that the strikes targeted bases of the Sunni militant group Jaish al-Adl, but any mention of the attack disappeared rapidly in Iranian media.
The strikes in Pakistan came less than a day after Iranian missile strikes in Syria and Iraq, part of Tehran’s retaliation after the bombing in the city of Kerman at the memorial of commander Qasem Soleimani.

Russian Su-27 fighter purposely collides with American drone over international waters
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 14/03/2023 - 18:34 in Military, War Zones
The U.S. military says that a Russian fighter purposely collided with a U.S. intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance drone operating in international airspace over the Black Sea, causing the drone to fall on Tuesday (03/14).
State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the U.S. unmanned MQ-9 Reaper has not yet been recovered and that the United States is summoning the Russian ambassador to comment on the incident.
"We are talking directly to the Russians, again at higher levels, to convey our strong objections to this unsafe and unprofessional interception, which caused the crash of the U.S. unmanned aircraft."
Su-27 Flanker of the Russian Air Force.
He added that the U.S. ambassador to Russia, Lynne Tracy, “transmitted a strong message to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs”.
U.S. President Joe Biden was informed about the incident, according to White House spokesman John Kirby.
"If the message [from Russia] is that they want to prevent or dissuade us from flying and operating in international airspace over the Black Sea, then this message will fail because it will not happen," Kirby said.
USAF MQ-9 Drone.
“We will continue to fly and operate in international airspace in international waters. The Black Sea does not belong to any nation and we will continue to do whatever is necessary for our own national security interests in that part of the world."
According to the U.S. European Command (EUCOM), which oversees U.S. military operations in Europe, two Russian Su-27 aircraft “damped fuel and flew in front of the MQ-9 recklessly, purposefully and unprofessionally.”
“One of the Russian Su-27 aircraft hit the propeller of the MQ-9, causing U.S. forces to have to shoot down the MQ-9 in international waters. ... This incident demonstrates a lack of competence, in addition to being insecure and unprofessional," EUCOM added.
U.S. Air Force General James B. Hecker, commander of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe and the African Air Forces, said in a press release that the collision “almost caused the crash of both aircraft”.
EUCOM asked Russian forces to act "professionally and safely", warning that these types of acts are "dary and can lead to miscalculation and unintentional escalation".
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the American drone flew “in the direction of the state border of the Russian Federation” and that fighters were sent to intercept it.
“As a result of sudden maneuvers, the U.S. drone went into uncontrolled flight with loss of altitude and collided with the surface of the water,” the Russian statement said.
“Russian fighters did not use airborne weapons, did not come into contact with the unmanned aerial vehicle and returned safely to the airfield of their base,” he added.

Essential Guide to Serving Legal Papers in Pakistan
Serving legal papers is an essential step in any legal procedure, and it is crucial in maintaining the integrity and fairness of the judicial system. In Pakistan, the legal process is carefully regulated to ensure that all parties are properly informed about their rights and obligations. Whether it’s a civil suit, a criminal case, or a family matter, serving legal documents to the relevant parties is a fundamental part of the legal framework. This guide will help you understand how the process of serving legal papers in Pakistan works, the laws governing it, and the methods involved.
What Does Serving Legal Papers Mean?
Serving legal papers, often referred to as "service of process," means officially delivering legal documents to the individual or entity involved in a legal case. These documents can range from summons, petitions, notices, or court orders, and their purpose is to inform the individual or organization of the legal proceedings they are part of.
Properly serving legal papers is not just a formality; it is a crucial element in ensuring that the rights of all parties are respected. If the service is not carried out correctly, the court may not proceed with the case, or a ruling may be rendered invalid. This is why ensuring proper service is vital to the success of a legal process in Pakistan.
The Legal Framework Governing Service of Legal Papers in Pakistan
In Pakistan, serving legal papers is governed by well-established legal frameworks found in the Code of Civil Procedure (CPC), 1908, and the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1898. These two codes lay out the processes for delivering legal documents for civil and criminal cases respectively.
1. Code of Civil Procedure (CPC), 1908
The CPC governs the process of serving legal papers in pakistan in civil suits and other civil matters. Under this law, the party filing the suit must ensure that the defendant is properly informed about the proceedings. The CPC outlines the different methods of serving legal papers, the timeline within which they should be served, and how to deal with parties who attempt to avoid service.
2. Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1898
The CrPC, on the other hand, provides guidance on serving legal documents in criminal cases. This can include serving summons to the accused or witnesses, or delivering warrants and orders from the court. The police often play a key role in delivering legal papers in criminal matters.
Methods of Serving Legal Papers in Pakistan
The method of serving legal papers in Pakistan depends on various factors, such as the type of case, the recipient’s location, and their willingness to accept the documents. There are several ways to serve legal papers, and each method is designed to ensure proper notification while maintaining fairness in the process.
1. Personal Service
Personal service is the most straightforward and effective method of serving legal papers. It involves physically delivering the documents to the person concerned, ensuring that they are directly informed about the legal proceedings. This is typically done by a court official such as a process server or bailiff.
For personal service to be valid, the recipient must either sign an acknowledgment of receipt or the process server must document the delivery. If the person is unavailable at their home or business address, the papers can be handed over to a responsible person (e.g., a family member or a colleague) at their address, but the process server must ensure they leave a note informing the recipient about the documents.
While this method is reliable, it can be challenging if the defendant attempts to evade service or if they are unavailable for long periods. In such cases, alternative methods can be employed.
2. Service by Post or Courier
When personal service is not possible, serving legal papers by post or courier can be an effective alternative. In this method, the documents are sent through registered mail or a courier service that ensures the recipient signs an acknowledgment receipt. This receipt serves as proof that the recipient has been properly notified about the proceedings.
It’s important to note that the recipient’s refusal to accept the documents or failure to respond to the postal service may delay the case. However, registered mail is generally considered a secure and traceable method, making it a widely accepted form of service.
3. Substituted Service
In cases where neither personal service nor postal service is feasible, substituted service becomes the next option. Substituted service refers to alternative methods that can be used when a party is actively avoiding service or is difficult to locate. Common forms of substituted service in Pakistan include:
Public Notice in Newspapers: When the defendant’s location is unknown or when they deliberately avoid being served, the court may permit a public notice in newspapers. This method is most commonly used for individuals who are unreachable due to migration, disappearance, or other circumstances. A notice in a local or national newspaper can serve as a valid method of service if approved by the court.
Affixing the Notice to Property: If the defendant's whereabouts are unknown or they refuse to accept service, the court may allow the legal documents to be posted on the door of the defendant’s house or business premises. This is intended to provide public notice of the case and can be considered valid in specific situations.
Service Through a Family Member or Representative: If the defendant is unavailable, the court may allow the documents to be served through a trusted family member, relative, or legal representative, as long as they consent to receive the documents on the defendant’s behalf.
4. Service Via Electronic Means
In Pakistan, the use of electronic communication for serving legal papers is still not widespread, but it is gaining ground in certain legal circles. Courts may allow service via email or other digital methods if both parties agree or if the nature of the case allows it. This can be particularly useful in cases where one party resides abroad or in remote areas where traditional service methods are impractical.
5. International Service of Legal Papers
Serving legal papers across international borders can be a particularly complex issue. When the party to be served resides in another country, the service process must follow international protocols. For instance, Pakistan is a signatory to the Hague Service Convention, which standardizes the process for serving legal papers between countries. Through this convention, Pakistan can request assistance from the relevant authority in the recipient’s country to ensure that the legal documents are properly served.
Common Challenges in Serving Legal Papers in Pakistan
Although the process of serving legal papers is well-defined, there are several challenges that may arise:
1. Avoidance of Service
The most common obstacle in serving legal papers is when a defendant actively avoids being served. Some individuals may hide, provide incorrect addresses, or refuse to accept the documents in an attempt to delay the legal process. In such cases, alternative methods like substituted service may be used, but the process can be time-consuming and costly.
2. Inaccurate Address Information
The accuracy of the address is key to the success of serving legal papers. If the provided address is incorrect or outdated, the process server may not be able to locate the individual, leading to delays. In these cases, the applicant may have to conduct additional searches or investigations to find the correct address.
3. Serving Foreign Nationals
Serving legal papers to foreign nationals residing outside Pakistan can be complicated. If the individual is in a country that is not a party to international treaties like the Hague Convention, the process of serving legal documents becomes more challenging and may involve diplomatic channels or consular assistance.
The Importance of Professional Help
Due to the legal complexity and potential challenges involved in serving papers, it is often advisable to work with a professional process server, law firm, or legal expert. These professionals are familiar with the various service methods, and they understand the legal intricacies of the process. Additionally, they ensure that all documents are delivered in accordance with the law, helping to prevent delays or legal complications.
Hiring experts can save time, ensure the accuracy of the service, and provide the peace of mind that the legal process is being carried out properly.
Conclusion
In conclusion, serving legal papers in Pakistan is an essential part of the legal process that must be carried out accurately and efficiently. Whether through personal service, postal delivery, or substituted service, it’s important to ensure that all parties are properly notified of the legal proceedings. Legal documents must be served in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations to maintain fairness and protect everyone’s rights. For those navigating the complexities of the legal system in Pakistan, seeking professional help can make the service process smoother and more effective.

[ad_1] By Anjali Sharma NEW YORK – Michael Kugelman, a US-based foreign policy expert and the Director of the South Asia Institute at the Wilson Center, on Tuesday drawn a bleak comparison between India’s deteriorating ties with Canada and its long-standing strained relations with Pakistan. India and Canada continue to escalate, Kugelman said, “One could not have imagined that things in this relationship could get worse, but they have.” Kugelman highlighted the seriousness of the situation, noting that the diplomatic fallout between the two countries bears striking similarities to the Indo-Pakistan relationship. “This is a relationship that’s now hit rock bottom and indeed, looking at recent developments, certainly is reminiscent of India’s relations with Pakistan in terms of these extremely serious allegations being made, in terms of senior diplomats being expelled, as well as the use of blistering language in government statements, it’s all there and of course, the core allegation that we’re hearing from India that Canada is sheltering and sponsoring anti-India terrorists. This is what we’re used to hearing India say about Pakistan,” he pointed out. Kugelman also spoke the internal political dynamics in Canada that have contributed to the diplomatic rift, saying, “There are a lot of factors at play here. Certainly, one could acknowledge the relevance of the domestic political realities in Canada.” He noted that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s comments on India’s internal matters, particularly his support for the farmers’ protests against agricultural laws, had sparked tensions. “It is notable that PM Justin Trudeau has made some comments on internal developments in India that one would not expect a Canadian PM to make, such as commenting and expressing support for farmers protesting against Indian agricultural laws,” Kugelman added. Canada denies harboring extremists or terrorists, Kugelman pointed out that India remains firm in its disagreement. “Canada does not consider that it is harbouring extremists and terrorists, and certainly this is something that India very rigorously disagrees about,” he said. Kugelman emphasised that these differing views are central to the ongoing diplomatic breakdown between the two countries, adding, “This comes back to the issue of there being so many factors at play. This government in Canada has taken a series of decisions that include expressing support for Sikhs in India, in terms of the farmers’ movement in India.” He noted India’s specific frustration with Justin Trudeau, saying, “I was struck how in this long statement there was indeed an explicit reference to Justin Trudeau and his government… That reflects long-standing anger in New Delhi about Justin Trudeau and the government’s actions and politics that have contributed to this decision. New Delhi feels that Canada does not want to address those.” India expelled six Canadian diplomats hours after it summoned Canada’s Charge d’Affaires Stewart Wheeler and conveyed that the “baseless targeting” of the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats and officials in Canada was completely unacceptable. Canada also expelled six Indian diplomats after police collected evidence they were part of an Indian government “campaign of violence,” news agency Reuters reported citing a Canadian government source earlier. India “strongly” rejected a diplomatic communication from Canada suggesting that the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats were “persons of interest” in an investigation and termed it as “preposterous imputations” and part of the political agenda of the Justin Trudeau government. India said Prime Minister Trudeau’s hostility to India has long been in evidence and his government has consciously provided space to violent extremists and terrorists “to harass, threaten and intimidate Indian diplomats and community leaders in Canada.” The ties between India and Canada soured after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in
a parliamentary address last year, claimed that he has “credible allegations” of India’s hand in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar, designated a terrorist by India’s National Investigation Agency in 2020, was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Surrey in June 2023. India strongly denied the allegations, calling them “absurd” and “motivated.” It also accused Canada of giving space to extremist and anti-India elements in their country. The Death of Alexander the Great, My Final Log
I have travelled slightly back in time, to the end of Alexander the Great's reign.
The cause of his death has been heavily debated. I've heard rumors of poisoning, whispers of a man named Antipatros, the regent in Macedonia, who was summoned to Babylon by Alexander. He sent his eldest son, bearing poison. His youngest son was the royal wine pourer. I was able to deduce the rest myself.
He had fallen ill in late may or early June of 323, and suffered from a fever and fatigue. He pushed through it until he essentially became comatose. He tried to order a final review of his offers, but apparently, he could hardly nod at his subordinates due to his weakened state (The Landmark Arrian).
His subjects are alarmed, at how such a mighty conqueror could die so suddenly. No one knows how he really died, or how he would have been able to survive for so long if he had been poisoned. Rumors of a conspiracy are quickly forgotten, Alexander's subjects have been thrust into a volatile period of war. A war has begun over who would succeed him. Egypt isn't safe, nor is Macedonia. My time here has come to a close, and going back and forth in time has been a fulfilling and enlightening experience. I am grateful to have witnessed history and travelled the Hellenistic world, from Persepolis to Pakistan. I hope to return one day, but it was incredible to learn about the making of an Empire and start of an age that lingered for centuries.

Afghanistan summoned Pakistani envoy to protest bombing in Paktika province
Pakistani jets bombed four locations in Paktika’s Barmal district, killing 46 people and wounding six, according to Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Taliban’s interim administration.
The Afghan Foreign Ministry sent a “letter of strong protest” to Pakistani diplomat Hafiz Zia Ahmad. The blast was carried out during a meeting between Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan and Taliban representatives in Kabul on Tuesday, according to the statement.
Afghanistan strongly rejects any violation of territorial integrity and is firmly committed to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The country added that the Pakistani side had been clearly informed that defence of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty was a red line for Kabul and that such actions would have consequences.
According to Kabul, this is Pakistan’s second airstrike on Afghan territory after the first in March, which the Taliban administration formally protested against. Pakistan has long accused Afghanistan of failing to crack down on Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants allegedly operating from Afghanistan.
In recent months, the TTP has carried out deadly attacks on Pakistani security forces, mostly in border areas.
