The Umbra King by Jamie Applegate Hunter, 385pages, published September 20th 2022 - 🌟🌟🌟🌟 This book caused me a solid reading slump after I finished it, I was so invested and wanted nothing more that to read more. I went into the book thinking book one and two were out thanks to Kindle and how it was formatted, so I was even more disappointed when I finished and found out the second one was in fact not ready to read. All of that said I want to make it very clear that I recommend this book a thousand times over and think anyone who needs another morally gray female in their lives should devour this book ASAP (especially seeing as it is available on Kindle Unlimited). Below is some of what you can expect to find if you read this amazing book by @jah.hdj.books -enemies to lovers -dark fantasy -shadow manipulation 😉 -alphahole king with a painful past -touch her and you die -who did this to you? -revenge plot found family -female serial killer -fated lovers/mates -beauty and the beast

ppl are too quick to point to laios' disability as the reason his friends think he's a freak sometimes. so many instances of laios getting yelled at are, in my eyes, a case of "this guy had to emotionally mature very early in order to be there for his little sister" combined with "much older friends who never had to learn to manage their own emotions to the same degree"

a lot of the time he's right about needing to be more direct/deal with things in a way that may seem scary/needing to put your gut reaction aside. he tries not to make his friends uncomfortable and he puts up with a lot because he's trying to keep the peace, but he also pushes the others out of their comfort zones purposefully to try to get them to think more constructively. everyone else in the party is prone to acting on their gut instincts and avoiding uncomfortable situations even when facing them head-on is very much necessary. part of what makes laios such a great leader is the fact that he knows from experience how to put his own feelings aside to help someone else grow.

yes, he does make a lot of social blunders by accident and he does struggle to connect with others, but not all of his positive influence on others is accidental or "despite" making people uncomfortable. a lot of the time, I think it's clear he knows exactly what he's doing and he's trying to help the people around him process emotions in a healthy way as they all go through some truly harrowing shit. all the main characters support each other as well as they can with their unique emotional skillsets. laios' skillset just happens to be "gently talk child into eating her vegetables"

Scary Sunset.

I'm concepting things way outta order in this story, but I'm sure you can piece things together. Context is for a storybeat where, after defeating and capturing Adagio (thus having all three sirens in her possession), Sunset enacts her revenge plot to release the sirens on Canterlot as Thea discovers she's been manipulated. In a confrontation, the two scuffle and fight over the siren orbs while Sunset struggles with her conflicting wants and emotions.

genuinely i think it's important for adults, especially in the plague times, to play pretend in our day-to-day lives. when i rub my back down with tiger balm so i can sleep without pain, i imagine i am a valiant knight tending to an old injury i received from a dragon. when i go to the store to pick up eggs and milk, i am a lone cowboy riding into town on a mission. when i turn my collar up against the wind i am a femme fatale who's killed 4 husbands and is scoping out a 5th. when i stomp around in the snow i am a doomed polar explorer. if being a little bit silly about my walk to the pharmacy helps me remember that life can be full of joy and whimsy, then so be it.

A/N: Hi hi again 😌😌 fbjsbfjjsbf I took awhile with this sorry sorry, I was caught up w other things and I got a little busy — but I gotchu tho dw lmao.

⭑.ᐟ — Cuddles were becoming a must have for Mr. Crawling since the two of you were growing closer than ever since you’ve came to this horrific world of ghosts and ghouls.

⭑.ᐟ — But it was also the one thing that kept you anchored, kept you sane, you found solace in the arms of a creepy yet puppy-like ghost, and it made you feel somewhat human again since you’ve been stuck here for god knows how long.

⭑.ᐟ — Right now, you and Mr. Crawling were taking a brief break in some room you just came across while wandering the place, (either you’re still in search for an exit or you’ve given up in looking for one at this point, whichever really).

⭑.ᐟ — The both of you are sprawled out on a leather couch, you’re currently being smothered underneath Mr. Crawling’s weight which is a tad uncomfortable and you can’t move much, but you’re not complaining and enjoying the closeness with your ghostly companion.

⭑.ᐟ — Mr. Crawling on the other hand had his head nuzzled into the crook of your neck, his arms wrapped tightly around you and he’s melting in the warmth radiating from your body heat with a goofy little smile on his features, and he’s quietly giggling every now and then. Sometimes he’s reaching a hand into the hood of your raincoat and giving you some head pats or leaving kisses around your neck.

⭑.ᐟ — While Mr. Crawling’s busy peppering you with kisses around your neck, he felt you twitch out of surprise when he gently nipped you.

⭑.ᐟ — Mr. Crawling at first was a little worried from that reaction but you assured him it just threw you off guard and told him to continue, which he happily did once he had the green light you were okay with this.

⭑.ᐟ — Mr. Crawling went as far to slide his cold hands underneath your shirt when he was given permission, just to marvel at the warmth of your body and the contrast between your unblemished and soft skin and his calloused and cold fingers.

⭑.ᐟ — By the end of that break your neck and collar area was practically littered with hickeys all thanks to Mr. Crawling. <3
