She was just away for a while. Gene came back, she always did. Not as reliably as a comet, but they always somehow bumped into each other at some point.

At first, the 'missing' posters he'd put up caused calls that were actual tips. It never yielded any results, but it kept his hope from going stale. Lately, none of his calls had been related to the posters.

It wasn't until he went to visit Fergus that he found her. She was two rows and seventeen plots away from his friend. The stone read her old name, which sounded more fake than her chosen name had ever done, and the second date was.. already a long time ago. Long before he had actively started searching.

Campbell split the bouquet meant for Fergus in two to leave some for her, too, then stalked towards the nearest pub with a blurry vision.

A Few Headcanons...

Gene is actually EXTREMELY unaware of the effect she has on people, and doesn't believe she leaves any "real" impression in people's lives. One of her deepest fears and fiercest held beliefs is that no one will notice when she is gone. At most, she might cross someone's mind years later, a vague sort of "what ever happened to that girl who..." but she doesn't expect anything more than that.

Gene carries multiple IDs for each of her aliases in her wallet. She has exactly one government issued form of identification with her real name on it -- an American passport -- which she keeps in a locked box beneath her bed in her flat at Powell Estates. The box also contains her plane and bus tickets from when she ran away from home.

If Gene died on Earth, it would very likely be at the bar where she works. Most likely trying to pry apart two patrons in a fight, and ending up an accidental casualty. But she'd prefer it that way. Quick, and brutal, a story to tell -- not lingering and sad and alone in some hospital somewhere...

Autistic Bones Characters and Diagnosis: My Thoughts!!!

Zack: I think Zack showed a lot of stereotypical signs of autism when he was young (lining up toys, no eye contact, frequent meltdowns, no interest in other children), and given that he was a white boy he was probably diagnosed young.

Despite being diagnosed it was hard to access any sort of support growing up since he excelled in school, and with eight kids his parents couldn’t afford things like occupational therapy (but they did all they could to support him).

Brennan and Cam know from day 1 since they’re his superiors, but his first few months at the Jeffersonian he doesn’t tell anyone else or ask for any sort of accommodations, both because he’s grown used to not having any, and because he wants to ‘fit in’ with the others.

Brennan: Not diagnosed until sometime during the course of the show, and doesn’t consider that she could be autistic until someone else brings it up (either someone casually mentions her being autistic assuming she knows, because let’s be real, it’s kind of obvious, or someone comparing her to Zack who she knows is autistic).

Lots of internalized ableism and definitely rejects the idea that she could be autistic at first. I imagine she has a lot of experience with ‘autistic’ being used as an insult towards her, and her general dislike of psychology ties into it as well. She does get over this, but it takes a lot of work, and even when she does get a diagnosis from Sweets, she can’t accept it right away. But everyone around her loves her and is there to help her come to terms with this information and figure out where to go from here !!

Hodgins: My audhd king. Late diagnosed ADHD, never diagnosed autistic (but he is, argue with the wall). His autistic traits all get written off as ADHD or anger issues.

I don’t think he’s at a ‘disadvantage’ by not being diagnosed, because he works in such an environment that he can get the support he needs without it, and ADHD diagnosis helps him to understand why he is the way he is (especially in the context of his childhood and realizing that he wasn’t ’a problem child’ he was just neurodivergent)

Not to go all Catholic school alumna on tumblr, lol, but currently thinking a lot about "it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:24) and the fact that a significant amount of so-called Christians in the US voted this week in support of dismantling human rights and destroying the environment all because a rich man told them he would make it easier for rich people to stay rich.
